Shocking Heist: ATM Stolen from Taqueria San Jose in Bridgeport, Chicago Caught on Video

0

In a bold and swift heist, a Bridgeport Mexican restaurant was the target of a burglary that unfolded in just two minutes, all caught on surveillance cameras.

The assailants set their sights on the establishment’s ATM, escaping with approximately $4,000 in cash.

Leticia Navarro, the owner of Taqueria San Jose, recounted to ABC7 her helplessness as she watched the events unfold live through her surveillance system following a call from the Chicago police, even as the theft was ongoing.

The entire incident transpired in a matter of moments. Surveillance footage revealed a dark-colored SUV arriving at the restaurant, located in the 3100 block of South Halsted Street, at precisely 5:34 a.m. Within a minute, at 5:35 a.m., three burglars had broken in, disconnected the ATM, and wheeled it out the front door. By 5:36 a.m., the machine was loaded into their vehicle, and they sped away.

During an interview with ABC7 conducted in Spanish, Navarro mentioned that a passerby had called 911, leading to the timely alert from the police.

“I ran to the cameras and saw them leaving,” Navarro said. “I was very scared. Thank God it happened when no one was there.”

Navarro said the restaurant, which closes at 2 a.m., usually still has people cleaning up until around 3:30 a.m.

“I’ve had this business for 20 years, here in Bridgeport,” said Navarro said, whose restaurant is just steps from CPD’s District 9.

The theft happened a day after CPD put out an alert in response to two other recent ATM thefts in the 9th District, including one at the Shell gas station at 35th and Damen just Saturday.

While the vehicle and the number of people involved appears to differ, like the crime Sunday morning, the thieves all struck in the 5 a.m. hour.

Chicago police have not said if they believe this latest ATM theft is connected to the one on Saturday. The investigation is still ongoing.

Zendaya’s Ascension: How She Became the Met Gala’s Reigning Style Icon

Zendaya never fails to deliver a dramatic entrance.

At just 29, the Euphoria star has already captivated audiences at the Met Gala seven times, gracing the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art with her unique style during the annual Costume Institute events.

Reflecting on her first experience, Zendaya revealed on Live with Kelly and Mark in 2024, “I first attended when I was 18. It was an exhilarating yet nerve-wracking experience.”

As she described it, “Climbing those steps is incredibly intimidating.”

Nonetheless, Zendaya has never shied away from making bold fashion statements, consistently captivating the public with her sartorial choices. Since her 2015 debut in a custom Fausto Puglisi gown for the “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme, the Emmy winner has continuously raised the bar with each subsequent appearance.

Take 2018, when she dressed up for the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” theme in a suit of armor—not to mention an Atelier Versace chainmail dress, which, according to stylist Law Roach, channelled a certain patron saint of France.

Michigan’s Mallory McMorrow Sparks Controversy: Defends Critique of Rural America While Praising Coastal Elites

0

Michigan Senate candidate Mallory McMorrow has defended her previously deleted tweets criticizing rural America, in which she implied that they could benefit from learning from coastal elites. Despite the backlash, McMorrow maintains her stance.

The tweets, initially highlighted by The Post last year, are again under the spotlight following a recent CNN feature. The messages have sparked debate over her views on rural versus urban cultural understanding.

In an appearance on CNN’s “Inside Politics” this past Sunday, McMorrow expressed the importance of mutual understanding across different communities. “I believe we should all strive to understand one another better,” she stated. “Having lived in various parts of the country, I’ve encountered diverse perspectives, and I stand by that sentiment. Admittedly, the tweet wasn’t my most articulate moment.”

Following the 2016 presidential election, McMorrow agreed with a tweet suggesting the focus on coastal elites needing to comprehend other parts of America was misplaced. Instead, she argued, “Many rural Americans have isolated themselves from the broader national conversation by residing in areas that do not reflect the country’s diversity.”

“It is much of white working class America that needs to reach outside its comfort zone and meet people not like them,” then-reporter Patrick Thornton argued in the X thread.

“Many rural Americans have isolated themselves from the rest of the country. They live in very unrepresentative areas.”

She quote-tweeted that post, writing, “I’m from rural New Jersey, this rings 100%. Empathy should go both ways, but Trump’s base fears what they’ve never seen.”

During her wide-ranging interview with CNN, McMorrow said that she sees parallels between Nazi Germany and the Trump administration

“Yeah, I do,” she told CNN. “It is deeply concerning that we’ve seen an authoritarian slide and, as we’ve talked about earlier, dividing people against each other.”

“I don’t think a lot of people would argue [with the notion] that there are shades of authoritarianism here that we need to be deeply concerned about.”

McMorrow, a Michigan state senator, has been seen as a rising star within progressive circles and is running in a very competitive Democratic primary to succeed retiring Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.)

Polls show a close three-way race on the Democratic side, with lefty physician Abdul El-Sayed leading the pack with 23% support, followed by McMorrow at 20.7% and moderate Rep. Haley Stevens at 20.3%, according to the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate.

The primary is slated for Aug. 4.

Republican Mike Rogers is widely expected to lock down the nod on the GOP side. Rogers narrowly lost to Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) in 2024 by 0.34 percentage points and has President Trump’s backing.

Achieving This Number of Pull-Ups at 50 Signifies Outstanding Upper-Body Strength

Ever wondered how many pull-ups you can manage after hitting the age of 50? It’s more than just a number—it’s a testament to your physical prowess. The pull-up, at its core, is a straightforward exercise: grab the bar, hang, and pull yourself up. While it seems simple, it demands a significant effort, requiring your upper back, arms, and core to lift your entire body weight. This challenge is considerable at any age and becomes even more significant as you surpass the half-century mark.

When coaching pull-ups, I approach them differently compared to other exercises. Not everyone can leap up and rack up a high number of reps instantly, and that’s perfectly acceptable. What’s important is your ability to control your body through the complete range of motion. Over the years, I have guided numerous clients who began with assisted pull-up variations or simply hanging from the bar. Through consistency and effort, many have progressed to achieving their first full pull-up. This journey alone speaks volumes about their strength and determination.

Evaluating your pull-up performance offers a clear snapshot of your upper body condition. It tests your lats, shoulders, arms, and grip strength all at once, while also engaging your core to ensure your body moves as a cohesive unit. Whether you’re able to crank out multiple reps or are still working towards your first, the number of pull-ups you can execute with proper form is a genuine indicator of your upper-body strength, especially after reaching 50.

From a coaching standpoint, I treat pull-ups a little differently than most exercises. Not everyone is going to jump up and knock out a high number of reps, and that’s fine. What matters is how close you are to controlling your body through that full range. I’ve worked with plenty of clients who start with assisted variations or even just hanging from the bar, and over time, they build up to their first full rep. That progression alone says a lot about their strength.

Testing pull-ups gives you a clear indication of where your upper body stands. It challenges your lats, shoulders, arms, and grip simultaneously. It also asks your core to stay tight so your body moves as one piece. Whether you’re hitting multiple reps or working toward your first, the number you can perform with clean form is one of the most honest measures of upper-body strength after 50.

Why Pull-Ups Are One of the Best Upper-Body Strength Tests

Shutterstock

Pull-ups train your upper back at a level very few movements can match. Your lats do most of the work, but your biceps, shoulders, and forearms all contribute to getting you to the bar. You’re pulling your full bodyweight through space, which makes it a true test of strength, not just another exercise.

What sets pull-ups apart is how much they demand from your entire system. Your grip has to hold, your shoulders have to stay stable, and your core has to stay engaged so your body moves as one piece. When that all lines up, the movement feels smooth and controlled. That level of coordination and strength working together is what makes pull-ups so valuable, especially after 50.

They also highlight relative strength, which becomes more important over time. Relative strength measures how well you can control your own body. Being able to pull yourself from a dead hang to the bar shows that your upper body, core, and grip are all working together at a high level.

As the reps add up, the goal stays the same. Start from a full hang, pull with control, and finish strong at the top. When you can repeat that without losing position or range, it shows a level of strength that carries over into everything from lifting to climbing to general movement.

How to Perform a Proper Pull-Up

A clean setup makes a big difference. Each rep should follow the same path.

How to Do It:

  1. Grab the bar with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
  2. Hang with your arms fully extended and your body still.
  3. Brace your core and keep your body in a straight line.
  4. Pull your chest toward the bar by driving your elbows down.
  5. Bring your chin over the bar with control.
  6. Lower back down to a full hang before starting the next rep.

A quick note on the movement standard. A rep counts when you start from a full hang and bring your chin clearly over the bar. If you’re building toward that, assisted pull-ups, banded variations, or negatives are all great ways to develop the strength needed.

Best Variations: Assisted Pull-Ups, Banded Pull-Ups, Negative Pull-Ups, Chin-Ups, Lat Pulldowns.

Pull-Up Strength Standards After 50

This test works best when each rep stays consistent. Full hang at the bottom, chin over the bar at the top.

  • 0 reps: You’re building the foundation. Hanging strength, assisted reps, and controlled negatives all move you toward your first full pull-up.
  • 1 to 3 reps: This is a strong start. You’ve built enough strength to move your full bodyweight and control the movement.
  • 4 to 7 reps: You’re in excellent territory. Your upper body can repeat the effort with solid control and consistency.
  • 8+ reps: This is outstanding. Your upper-body strength, control, and endurance are all at a high level.

How to Build Pull-Up Strength After 50

Building pull-up strength takes time, and it responds best to steady, consistent work. This isn’t something that shows up overnight, but it’s one of the most rewarding movements to improve. Progress often comes in small steps, and each step builds toward better control, stronger pulls, and more confidence on the bar.

A big part of the process is meeting yourself where you are and building from there. For some, that means starting with hangs or assisted reps. For others, it means adding volume or refining technique. Over time, your grip strengthens, your back muscles become more active, and your body learns to move more efficiently through the pull.

  • Practice hanging regularly: Time on the bar builds grip strength and helps your shoulders get comfortable supporting your bodyweight.
  • Use assisted variations: Bands or machines allow you to move through a full range while building strength in the right positions.
  • Train negatives: Slow, controlled lowering strengthens the muscles through the entire movement and builds confidence at the top.
  • Strengthen your upper back: Rows, pulldowns, and similar movements build the foundation needed for stronger pull-ups.
  • Keep your core engaged: A tight, controlled body position makes each rep more efficient and easier to repeat.
  • Focus on quality reps: Clean, controlled movement builds better strength than rushing through reps.
  • Stay consistent over time: Regular exposure to the movement is what drives progress.

Pull-ups are challenging, and that’s part of what makes them so valuable. If you can perform multiple clean reps after 50, you’ve built a level of upper-body strength that stands out and supports how you move day to day.

Somali Pirates and Houthis Revitalize Hijacking Strategy, Threatening Major Oil Trade Route

0

The rise in Somali piracy is sparking concerns about a potential “security vacuum” in the Red Sea region. Experts are cautioning that a resurgence of maritime crime, now potentially linked to Iran-supported Houthis, could be on the horizon.

This alert comes in the wake of an incident reported on May 2 by Yemen’s coast guard. Armed individuals seized an oil tanker near Shabwa, directing it towards the Gulf of Aden. The vessel has been located, and efforts to recover it are currently in progress, according to Reuters.

Ido Shalev, the chief operating officer at RTCOM Defense, shared his insights with Fox News Digital, stating, “We are witnessing a pivotal shift in maritime dynamics as the region enters a new era of instability.”

Shalev explained, “Groups associated with Somalia and the Houthis are collaborating, deploying skiffs and leveraging advanced technology to attack ships with a level of coordination unseen in ten years. Meanwhile, the diversion of Saudi crude away from the Strait of Hormuz has created an appealing environment for these groups.”

“There is an opportunistic alignment, with the Houthis providing geopolitical cover and advanced GPS and surveillance, and Somali groups providing the boots on the ground or skiffs on the water,” Shalev said.

With the MT Eureka taken off Shabwa, Shalev, a former Israeli naval officer, suggested what he called the “Somali model” had returned “with a vengeance.”

“This is a transactional collaboration, and in the exact area where the Houthis are active and would like to cause damage and support their IRGC sponsor,” he said before describing how pirates would hijack the entire ship and cargo, taking them to a secure anchorage “like Qandala or Garacad.”

“They then demand a ransom for the entire package: the vessel, the tens of millions of dollars in oil, and the crew,” he said.

Somali Pirates

The surge in regional risk is also exacerbated, Shalev said, by the volatility of the Strait of Hormuz. As Iranian-backed threats persist in the Persian Gulf, global energy flows are shifting.

“Due to the closure and instability of the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia has diverted millions of barrels of crude per day through its East-West pipeline to the Red Sea port of Yanbu,” the former Israeli naval officer said.

“This creates a target-rich environment in a sector that was previously a backbound route. With Brent Crude prices surging — peaking near $115/bbl this quarter — the prize for a successful hijacking has never been higher.”

The risk level in waters off Somalia was recently upgraded to “substantial” following a wave of hijackings and attempted attacks that began April 21, according to Windward AI and alerts from the U.K. Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

At least three vessels were hijacked within days: a Somali-flagged fishing boat on April 21, followed by the Palau-flagged tanker Honour 25 (IMO 1099735), and, by April 26, a general cargo ship seized and redirected to Garacad.

Shalev, who served as the lead architect for Nigeria’s “Falcon Eye” project — a surveillance system that successfully reduced piracy in those waters to 0% — warned that the distraction of global warships is being exploited.

“Because international naval forces are preoccupied with missile threats, a ‘security vacuum’ has now opened in the region, so pirates can travel vast distances in skiffs to board vulnerable commercial vessels,” he said.

“Somali piracy, which had been suppressed for years, has seen this sharp resurgence that also correlates perfectly with the Houthi crisis in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden,” Shalev said.

The Red Sea carries 12% to 15% of global trade and about 30% of container traffic, moving over $1 trillion in goods annually, including oil and LNG, according to reports.

“The current crisis proves that you cannot ‘patrol’ your way out of this; you have to see the threat before it ever reaches the ship,” Shalev said.

Rampaging Bear Causes Havoc in Los Angeles: Urgent Call for Neighborhood Safety

0

A significant bear sighting triggered an extensive police presence in a Sunland neighborhood on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the bear was initially spotted close to Wheatland Avenue before making its way towards Dale Avenue.

Authorities indicated that while the bear is thought to have moved away from the homes, officers remained in the vicinity to monitor the situation should the animal return.

“He’s quite a big boy!” remarked local resident Cindy Frith-Smith, who filmed the encounter and shared it with ABC Eyewitness News. “Oh mom, he’s climbing up the tree!”

“I was thrilled, and although they kept urging me to go back inside, I couldn’t resist watching the bear,” she continued.

Even some kids saw the furry beast.

“I’ve never seen this. This is crazy. How did it just randomly get here?” said Bobby Avakin.

“I was like, ‘It’s so cute,’” Sawyer Laney said.

Man Arrested Following Disturbing Incident Involving Nun in Israel

0

IN BRIEF

  • Israeli police have arrested a 36-year-old caught on video attacking a nun.
  • It’s part of a growing trend of attacks on Christians in Israel, according to some reports.

In a recent development, Israeli police announced the arrest of a 36-year-old individual captured on video assaulting a nun near Jerusalem’s Old City. This incident marks another distressing event targeting Christians in the area.

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was detained following the attack that took place on Wednesday near David’s Tomb. This location, a revered site just outside Zion’s Gate on the southern edge of the Old City, was the scene of the crime that authorities are investigating as a “racially motivated attack.” The individual remains in police custody.

Footage from the police revealed the nun with visible bruises and the alleged assailant donning tzitzit, a traditional fringed garment worn by some devout Jewish men.

Olivier Poquillon, who leads the French School of Biblical and Archaeological Research, identified the victim as a researcher at the institution. He condemned the incident as an “act of sectarian violence” in a statement on platform X.

The Old City, located in the Israeli-annexed eastern part of Jerusalem, is a historic enclave rich with centuries of history. It serves as a spiritual epicenter for Jews, Christians, and Muslims, housing significant religious sites for each faith.

It’s also a flashpoint for tensions as access and ownership to the sites are deeply entangled with the historical and political claims that lie at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Religious groups have documented a rise in acts of harassment and violence against Christian pilgrims and clergy as well as Palestinian Christian residents, including assaults and spitting, often by ultra-Orthodox Jewish yeshiva students.

‘Great sadness’

In a social media post about the man arrested over the recent attack, Israeli police said: “In a city sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike, we remain committed to protecting all communities and ensuring those responsible for violence are held accountable”.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry echoed those sentiments, writing on social media: “This shameful act stands in direct contradiction to the values of respect, coexistence, and religious freedom upon which Israel is founded and to which it remains deeply committed.”

However, Wadie Abunassar, the coordinator of the Holy Land Christian Forum, said attacks targeting Christians were a growing phenomenon in Israel.

In his opinion, the relatively quick response from authorities to the attack on the nun was due to it being caught on video, he added.

He said he felt “great anger on the system and great sadness because I feel that this will not end anytime soon”.

One of the problems, he said, was a lack of meaningful deterrence against such violence.

“Many times in such cases there are no arrests, and if there are arrests, sometimes after one or two days, (suspects) are released,” he added.

“In some cases, the police do not recommend the prosecution to file charges or to indict them. And in some cases, when there is indictment, the indictment is mild.”

The arrest comes as Israeli treatment of religious minorities is under scrutiny, weeks after police limited access for holiday worship to Muslims as well as Christians, up to the Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa.

‘A persistent and worrying pattern’

In December, a report from the Council of Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem — a formal assembly of leaders from historical Christian denominations in Israel — raised concerns about similar issues.

The report said the Christian community in the country “continues to face escalating violence, economic hardship, and restrictions on worship, with churches, schools, and hospitals suffering damage”.

“Threats to Christian heritage — particularly in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza alongside issues of unjustified taxation — are the source of ongoing concerns that threaten the existence of the community and the churches,” it wrote.

The Rossing Centre, an inter-religious organisation in Jerusalem dedicated to fostering an inclusive society for all religions, documented 155 incidents of violence and harassment against Christians in Israel in 2025.

Physical attacks against Christians accounted for 61 of those incidents, while the group found 52 cases of vandalism against Church properties, 28 cases of harassment, and 14 instances of public signs with Christian content being defaced.

“While these figures represent only ‘the tip of the iceberg’, they nevertheless reflect a persistent and worrying pattern in which both overt violence and everyday humiliations accumulate into a broader atmosphere of exclusion,” the report said.

In recent weeks, Israel has also faced international criticism after a soldier photographed himself having bludgeoned a fallen statue of Jesus on the cross with an axe in southern Lebanon.

Israel’s military later said it had removed two soldiers from combat duty and placed them in military detention for 30 days over the incident.

Donald Trump Set to Make Unexpected Appearance at High-Stakes $20 Million PGA Tour Event

0

Donald Trump made a subtle entrance at the Cadillac Championship 2026 held in Miami on Sunday afternoon.

This week marks the return of the PGA Tour to Trump’s Miami golf course, a venue it hasn’t visited since 2016. The prestigious Doral’s Blue Monster is now the setting for this inaugural championship.

During the final round, Trump arrived at the ‘Trump Suite’ accompanied by his granddaughter Kai and Vanessa, amidst the backdrop of an impressive $20 million prize pool for the tournament.

This occasion signifies the PGA Tour’s first event at Doral since the World Golf Championships in 2016.

Notably, the competition is missing five of the top 15 ranked players, including Masters champion Rory McIlroy. Other top players like Xander Schauffele and Ludvig Aberg have also chosen to skip the event.

The President’s arrival, meanwhile, came just hours after a man was taken into custody by Secret Service agents at a security checkpoint on the course.

Footage, posted on social media on Saturday, showed the man being handcuffed and detained by officers at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami.

He was arrested after allegedly defying orders and ‘getting physical’ with a Secret Service agent, the New York Post reported.

It is claimed the man was later taken to a correctional center in Miami and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence.

‘At no point did this situation impact the established security posture for any upcoming visits to Trump National Doral Golf Club by Secret Service protectees,’ a Secret Service Miami spokesperson told The Post.

The incident comes a week after Cole Thomas Allen, 31, allegedly attempted to storm the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington.

Meanwhile, Trump’s course made headlines before the competition had even got underway after it underwent a makeover ahead of the PGA Tour’s return.

It was revealed last week that a towering gold statue of the Commander-in-Chief had been erected on the grounds of the course.

The 15-feet-tall statue depicts the President throwing his fist into the air as he did in in the moments following the July 2024 assassination attempt on his life in Pennsylvania.

However, it almost didn’t make it to the course in time for this week’s PGA Tour signature event.

Sculptor Alan Cottrill, who works out of Zanesville, Ohio, was commissioned for the project in August 2024, the month following the assassination attempt on the president, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

$PATRIOT, a cryptocurrency group, commissioned the work to be done with Cottrill being paid paid $300,000 for the 15-foot bronze statue itself and another $60,000 for the gold leafing.

However, Cottrill reportedly held the statue hostage after he accused the crypto group of copyright infringement after it used the likeness of the artwork to sell crypto tokens.

After full payment was received, both parties reached an agreement with Cottrill releasing the statue last week when it finally made its way down to Doral.

Breaking News: Cole Allen No Longer on Suicide Watch, Defense Lawyers Announce

0

The legal team representing Cole Allen, the suspect in the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner shooting, has retracted a motion to take him off suicide watch. This decision followed the revelation that the precautionary measure had already been lifted. Consequently, the attorneys have requested the court to cancel a hearing originally set for Monday, stating that it is no longer necessary.

In their recent court filing, Allen’s lawyers explained they had just discovered that their client was no longer under suicide watch at the D.C. Jail. This development rendered their previous motion obsolete, leading them to ask for the scheduled hearing on May 4 to be vacated.

Despite the request from Allen’s attorneys to cancel Monday’s hearing, it remains on the docket until a judge makes a final decision.

Being on suicide watch entails a 24-hour lockdown in a specially designed “safe cell” to prevent self-harm.

Prior to Sunday afternoon’s developments, Allen’s attorneys had argued that the restriction violated his rights.

“Such restrictions deprive Mr. Allen from accessing resources like a jail tablet, which would permit him to communicate with loved ones outside of the jail,” the defense motion states. “Similarly, because Mr. Allen is not permitted to retain personal items while in the cell, it is counsel’s understanding that he cannot review documents that counsel leave with him, thus hindering his ability to assist in his own defense.”

The defense argued in the motion that being kept on the suicide precaution “is unnecessary” and violates Allen’s due process rights “by depriving him of dignity” by forcing him to be escorted to the shower, strip searched when leaving or entering his cell, and required to wear a padded vest while in the cell.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro told CNN on Sunday that prosecutors would bring the case before a grand jury this week and suggested they’re working toward securing an indictment with additional charges.

Allen, a 31-year-old California computer scientist, is accused of opening fire at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on April 25 after allegedly rushing a Secret Service checkpoint while armed with multiple weapons.
