Bill Maher Challenges the Notion of ’86 47′ Seashells as a Threat

0

Comedian Bill Maher took a humorous jab at the bizarre conspiracy theories surrounding the alleged gunman at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, suggesting he had been “activated” by former FBI Director James Comey’s enigmatic seashell message. During his HBO show, Real Time, Maher referenced President Donald Trump’s assertion that a “8647” seashell arrangement shared by Comey was a veiled threat to the president’s life.

Maher employed his trademark sarcasm, remarking, “Very serious stuff,” as he delved into the peculiar claim. He explained that the Justice Department was allegedly considering imprisoning Comey over the seashell post, which supposedly signaled “86 47.”

With a playful tone, Maher quipped, “He’s the Manchurian beachcomber. Eighty-six, you get it, 86, get rid of, 47. Ah! Yeah, they’re going a little crazy there in Washington.”

‘The Justice Department is trying to put former head of the FBI, James Comey, in jail for posting seashells,’ he added. ‘Why? Because the seashells spelled out, 86 47.’

‘He’s the Manchurian beachcomber. Eighty-six, you get it, 86, get rid of, 47. Ah! Yeah, they’re going a little crazy there in Washington.’

The term ’86’ is slang often used in restaurants to mean removing something, though it may also imply killing. Trump is the 47th president.

Comey surrendered earlier this week at a federal courthouse in the Eastern District of Virginia on federal charges involving threatening the president and transmitting a threat in interstate commerce.

Trump went on to describe the bureau’s ex-boss as a ‘dirty cop, one of the worst,’ and reiterated his claim that ’86’ referred to plans to put him ‘eight miles out, six feet down.’

It came just days after 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen allegedly breached security in an attempt to assassinate Trump at the Washington Hilton last weekend.

In a 1,000-word letter sent minutes before he allegedly charged Secret Service agents at DC’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Allen allegedly said he intended to kill all of Trump’s top officials – except current FBI Director Kash Patel.

During his monologue, speaking about the highly educated tutor now potentially facing life in prison, Maher said: ‘He seemed like such a nice, normal guy, the last person you would ever expect to be trying to kill the president.’

‘Until he was activated by James Comey’s seashells,’ he then quipped, drawing a roar of laughter from the audience.

Comey posted the photo in May 2025 with the caption: ‘Cool shell formation on my beach walk.’ He deleted the post on the same day he published it and apologized.

In a Truth Social post shared Wednesday night, the president wrote: ‘”86″ is a mob term for “kill him,”‘ Trump said on Wednesday night. ‘They say 86 him! 86 47 means “kill President Trump.”‘

Meanwhile, Comey declared his innocence in a video posted to Substack: ‘I’m still innocent, I’m still not afraid and I still believe in the independent federal judiciary, so let’s go.’

His defense team is now planning to file motions accusing the Department of Justice of selectively and vindictively prosecuting him at Trump’s order – something Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has denied.

As usual, Maher’s segment covered a range of current events, though the biggest topic was the chaos that unfolded in the nation’s capital as he broke his silence on the correspondents’ dinner shooting.

‘Another week where political violence has rid its ugly head again. We are officially now – I’m sure you saw what happened at the correspondents’ dinner – in the age of Gen Z assassins,’ the comedian said.

‘Did you see this one? Before he did it, he took a selfie. No, I’m not making that up,’ he added.

The selfie in question, released this week, showed Allen with a slight smirk and apparently armed with weapons just moments before he allegedly tried to charge the ritzy dinner with a shotgun.

Prosecutors said he took the mirror selfie in his hotel room at 8.03pm, dressed in evening attire and wearing a small leather bag containing ammunition, a shoulder holster, a sheathed knife, pliers and wire cutters.

‘His manifesto had jokes. Jokes,’ Maher told the audience. ‘And it was on recycled paper.’

In Allen’s manifesto, included in a criminal complaint obtained by the Daily Mail and filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ), he appeared to use humor, including criticizing the ‘incompetency’ of the event’s security.

‘PS: Ok now that all the sappy stuff is done, what the hell is the Secret Service doing?’ one sentence read.

Another said: ‘Like, this level of incompetence is insane, and I very sincerely hope it’s corrected by the time this country gets actually competent leadership again.’

He even signed off under the name ‘Cole “coldForce” “Friendly Federal Assassin” Allen.’

Maher continued: ‘We’re in a very different era. We know who this guy is now. At the time, what happened, nobody knew. No one knew, because they just knew a guy. He had a shotgun. He had 38. He had hunting knives.’

‘Either it was a far left activist heading out to kill, or a right winger heading out dinner,’ the host added, again earning applause from the crowd.

‘The good news is that no one at the banquet was hurt, really. As soon as it started, everyone went under the table, where a lot of the Trump administration was anyway.’

Maher also welcomed California Governor Gavin Newsom to the show, where he called out the politician for attempting to imitate Trump, leading to a somewhat tense exchange.

Newsom has made no secret of his ambitions to run for president in 2028, and part of his efforts to stir up publicity have included sharing Trump-ian insults on social media.

‘Many people would say that you are imitating him. Of all the people who may or may not be running, you’re the one who imitates his style with the trolling,’ Maher said.

He also pointed out that Newsom is now suing Fox News for libel. The governor responded by bragging about it, declaring: ‘Fox better look to settle right now or apologize for defamation.’

Alarmed, Maher fired back: ‘Okay, but that sounds exactly what he does! Suing media?’ Newsom replied, ‘Well then don’t defame, don’t lie,’ to which the comedian again said he sounded like the president.

He then attempted to explain his social media style by claiming that he merely wanted to meet the moment. The longtime liberal governor has an entire press office social media feed dedicated to mimicking Trump’s boisterous style.

‘To me that’s the biggest reflection of this moment, is how…the…just the sewer that we are now living in because of Donald Trump. And he’s allowed all of us to feel free to shove again,’ he said.

Chilling Discovery: Missing Man Linked to Biker Gang Found Dead in Abandoned Cemetery Crypt

0

A promising lead in the search for Keith Palumbo, a missing man from Delaware County, Pennsylvania, directed investigators to an unlikely location—inside a cemetery crypt, where they uncovered a chilling scene.

The tragic story of Keith Palumbo, a 36-year-old musician and tattoo artist, who met a grisly end at the hands of a longtime friend, is now being highlighted in the true-crime series “Philly Homicide” on Oxygen. Retired detective Chris McMullin takes viewers through the details of this and other notorious crimes in Philadelphia.

“This case is profoundly sad,” McMullin shared with Fox News Digital. “The investigation was extensive, involving numerous interviews with individuals who either had direct knowledge or were somehow involved. These efforts eventually led us to Mount Moriah Cemetery. Frankly, it wasn’t entirely unexpected, as I’m aware that many stolen vehicles have been abandoned there.”

Keith Palumbo, known for his contributions as a heavy metal guitarist, was tragically murdered in February 2020. The discovery of his remains within a crypt at Philadelphia’s Mount Moriah Cemetery added a somber layer to the investigation.

“In the episode, I even mention that if someone intended to conceal a body, this neglected cemetery would be a prime location,” McMullin noted, pointing out the lack of maintenance at the site.

In April 2020, investigators unearthed not only Palumbo’s body, but also the remains of David Rossillo Jr., 33, a prospective member of the Warlocks Motorcycle Club. Both victims were found in the family vault of Capt. A.H. Cain, who died in 1884. Rossillo’s killing was a separate incident, though his remains were discovered in the same crypt.

McMullin said that Mount Moriah Cemetery had fallen into disrepair for years and was largely abandoned. According to reports, it had become a known dumping ground for stolen cars and other illegal activity.

“Mount Moriah Cemetery had gone out of business years ago,” McMullin said, referring to its long period of neglect.

“I’ve been there. There was a time when I worked part-time in the funeral business and I was there. It’s something like out of a post-apocalyptic film when you go there. There are headstones that are knocked over and vines growing all over mausoleums. It’s very sad because this was a cemetery where people were laid to rest. Typically, you expect it to be cared for perpetually.”

“We’re also talking about a huge cemetery,” McMullin continued. “[The investigators] got lucky because, as they were walking around, they noticed that one of the crypts seemed to have been recently disturbed.”

“I want to thank now-retired Philadelphia Police Detective Joe Bambersky for his diligent and tireless work on this case,” said Assistant District Attorney Robert Wainwright in a statement. “I’m very pleased that we are able to bring some measure of justice and peace to the loved ones of these two victims.” (Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office)

Palumbo was described as coming from a close family and was known in his community for being a heavy metal guitarist. When he went missing in February 2020, his family immediately knew something was wrong.

At the time he went missing, Palumbo was driving his mother’s car with two other men when he received a phone call from his friend, Warlocks member Michael DeLuca, who went by the nickname “Kaos,” The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. According to the outlet, DeLuca had told Palumbo to go to his Southwest Philadelphia home.

“When I learned that he had gone missing, it just gave me an ominous feeling,” said McMullin. “All the cases we explore in this series are tragic, but this was such a case of betrayal.”

The outlet reported that after the three men arrived at DeLuca’s apartment, he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Palumbo. While Palumbo protested, a witness told investigators that DeLuca shot him in the face. The outlet noted that the account was cited by one of the men who was said to be in the apartment at the time.

McMullin said that while the circumstances of the argument were unclear, authorities and witnesses suggested DeLuca may have suspected Palumbo of cooperating with law enforcement, though no evidence was presented to support that claim.

A scene from the episode

“I don’t know if we ever got a specific answer from DeLuca,” McMullin admitted. “It was speculated that he may have done it to set an example not to cross him. This victim was his lifelong best friend. Was he trying to make an example for the other members? It certainly seemed like they were afraid of him.”

“I do think there’s probably an issue with impulse control there,” said McMullin. “I do think that this was calculated and planned. They more than likely took [Palumbo] to the clubhouse with the intention of doing that to him.”

While the Warlocks may not carry the same name recognition as groups like the Hells Angels, authorities have long identified the Pennsylvania-based club as a serious outlaw motorcycle gang.

Federal and local investigators have tied members to a range of violent crimes, including murder, assault and drug trafficking, a reminder that a lower profile does not mean a lesser threat.

“The other organizations are much larger and they show up in places that get more public attention and media attention, versus a smaller organization like the Warlocks, where they’re not fully national in scope,” retired ATF Special Agent in Charge Bernard Zapor explained to Fox News Digital.

“Some gangs are purposely more low-key,” he said. “They’re not interested in all the publicity and notoriety. “[But] they all have a similarity in that betrayal of the organization is a death sentence. You have allegiance to the club first, and then your family comes after that. It’s club before family, club before self. And the suspicion of being an informant is dangerous and unfortunate.”

“These two people knew each other, had a longtime relationship,” Zapor continued. “But if you’re suspected of being a police informant, the only outcome is death. It’s a death sentence if they can get to you.”

A relative of Palumbo’s has said that he was not a Warlocks member.

According to the episode, cooperating witnesses ultimately helped police piece together what happened to Palumbo and Rossillo Jr. The information, combined with physical evidence recovered at the scene and cellphone data, allowed investigators to build a case against DeLuca and others.

A witness told police that DeLuca said he killed Palumbo and needed help disposing of the body, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

“They were all afraid of [DeLuca],” said McMullin. “But I also think that when push came to shove, they didn’t want to lie and possibly risk taking a prosecution to protect him. I just think there’s no honor among thieves. Loyalty is something made very clear that’s expected. But I also think that people are also out for themselves, especially people who are committing a lot of crimes, heinous crimes at that.”

In September 2020, DeLuca and Michael DiMauro, another member of the Warlocks, were arrested.

In 2023, DiMauro was found guilty of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in connection to Rossillo Jr.’s death. Prosecutors said he shot the 33-year-old, tied a rope around his neck and dragged his body to the crypt, which had been pried open, before dumping the remains. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Detective John Taggart standing in a room

In “Philly Homicide,” retired detective John Taggart from Philadelphia PD described how the cold case of Keith Palumbo was solved. (Oxygen)

That same year, DeLuca pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in Palumbo’s death, FOX 29 Philadelphia reported. Three others also pleaded guilty to helping to dispose of the victims’ bodies, the outlet shared. DeLuca was later sentenced to 15 to 35 years in prison.

“This case stayed with me,” said McMullin. “There’s the relationship between the killer and the victim. Although sadly, more people are killed by people they know than people they don’t know. And outlaw biker gangs are notoriously violent. Michael DeLuca, in my opinion, did an evil act.”

California Vice Mayor Larry Lang Faces Backlash for Controversial ’86 47′ Comment on State GOP Post

0

The California Republican Party’s chairperson, along with other conservative figures on social media, is urging Larry Lang, the vice mayor of Los Altos, California, to step down. This comes after Lang repeatedly posted “86 47” on social media, notably responding with it to a post by the state Republican Party on Facebook.

Though Lang has since deleted these posts, screenshots shared by the California Republican Party and examined by Fox News Digital reveal that Lang had changed his Facebook cover image to a “86 47” seashell arrangement. This same imagery was linked to the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey in federal court last month for making threats against the president.

Additionally, Lang commented “86 47” on a California Republican Party Facebook post earlier in the week. The post included a news clip featuring California GOP Chairperson Corrin Rankin, who discussed a recent debate among the state’s gubernatorial candidates. Rankin criticized Democrats for lacking solutions and suggested Californians are eager for change after 16 years under Democratic leadership.

Rankin condemned the post as a death threat against Donald Trump, labeling it unacceptable. She questioned whether Lang was ignorant of current events or actively contributing to political violence. In a post on X, she demanded Lang’s resignation, asserting that Los Altos deserves leaders who foster unity and prioritize solutions.

The California GOP echoed Rankin’s sentiments, urging Democrats to cease advocating violence against Donald Trump and Republicans.

When reached for comment about the “86 47” posts, Lang’s email address returned an automatic response indicating he was “traveling” until May 4. His Facebook “cover photo” indicated it had been changed Friday.

Lang is the vice mayor of the Los Altos City Council and also sits on over half-a-dozen regional boards of directors. Fox News Digital also reached out to city council members in Los Altos for comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.

“He needs to resign as vice mayor!” conservative social media account Libs of TikTok said after uncovering the posts.
Nick Poche, spokesperson with the Republican National Committee, added that Democrats “must immediately dial back their unhinged rhetoric” or risk encouraging “deranged” supporters who might wish to kill the president, such as the suspect from the recent White House Correspondents Dinner shooting that was stymied by the Secret Service.

“We suggest he resign to check into a mental hospital,” Poche said of Lang.

Former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey was indicted for a second time by the Justice Department last month, which stemmed from a May 2025 Instagram photo of an “86 47” shell formation on a beach — the same shell formation that appeared in Lang’s Facebook “cover photo” until it was deleted.

In slang, often used in certain industries and in various cultures, “86” typically means to get rid of something. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is currently the 47th President of the United States.

Comey removed the post the same day it was uploaded, claiming he had misinterpreted the shells as a general political message.

The former FBI director is facing charges of making threats to harm the president and transmitting a threat in interstate commerce. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison, according to the Justice Department.

Discover 5 Effective Exercises to Tone Underarm Flab Faster Than Traditional Weight Lifting for Those Over 55

Eliminate “turkey wing” arm fat by incorporating these simple exercises into your upper-body routine.

Excess fat under the arms, often referred to as “bat wings” or “turkey wings,” can be a source of frustration. This issue arises due to factors like muscle loss, shifts in body composition, diminished skin elasticity, aging, or substantial weight loss.

If you’re eager to tone and strengthen your underarms, there’s no time like the present to start. We’ve outlined an effective strategy for you. We consulted with Terry Tateossian, the Founder and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Coach, Trainer, and Nutritionist specializing in women over 40 at THOR – The House of Rose. Tateossian, who has extensive training in women’s health and weight management for middle-aged individuals, reveals five gentle exercises that can effectively reduce underarm fat, even surpassing the results of weightlifting for those over 55. That’s right—you don’t need heavy weights to achieve noticeable changes.

“Spot reduction of underarm fat is not possible, just as we can’t specifically target belly fat,” Tateossian explains. “For many of us over 50-55, improving the appearance of the underarm area involves building muscle, enhancing posture, and—here’s the key—maintaining consistency.”

“We cannot spot reduce underarm fat—the same way we can’t spot reduce belly fat. We lose fat from all over the body,” Tateossian tells us. “For most of us over 50-55, improving the underarm area is about building muscle, improving posture, and (the magic word) staying consistent.”

Below are five gentle exercises to help strengthen the triceps and biceps. Keep in mind that “gentle” doesn’t translate to “ineffective.”

According to Tateossian, “There are many low-impact strength-building routines that deliver mechanical tension through control, proper form, enough resistance and time under tension (TOT). And when done correctly, low-impact exercises improve muscle activation, especially in underused areas like the triceps. And, for many people, consistency with moderate resistance and controlled movement is far more effective than occasional high-intensity training.”

Wall Pushups

  1. Begin standing tall, arms-length away from a wall.
  2. Place your hands shoulder-width apart on the surface.
  3. Engage your core and bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the wall.
  4. Press back up to the starting position, keeping the movement slow and controlled.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 to 12 reps, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Seated Tricep Kickbacks

  1. Begin by sitting tall on a workout bench, holding a dumbbell in each hand and your feet planted flat on the ground.
  2. Hinge at the hips, keeping your back flat and your core engaged.
  3. Keep your upper arms parallel to the ground as you extend the dumbbells behind you.
  4. Squeeze your triceps at the top of the movement.
  5. Use control as you return to the start position.
  6. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 to 12 reps, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Dumbbell Hammer Curls

  1. Begin seated with your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, using a neutral grip.
  3. Keep your arms completely extended at your sides and relax your shoulders.
  4. With your palms facing inward, curl the weights up toward your shoulders.
  5. Use control to lower.
  6. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 to 12 reps, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Seated Alternating Isometric Lateral Raises

  1. Begin sitting tall on a workout bench or sturdy chair with your feet flat on the ground.
  2. Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides, palms facing inward.
  3. Raise both arms out to the side to shoulder level, forming a “T.”
  4. Keep one arm steady at shoulder level while the other slightly lowers then lifts back up to shoulder height.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 to 12 reps per side, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Farmer’s Carry

  1. Hold a heavy dumbbell or kettlebell—50% of your body weight—in each hand at your sides.
  2. Start walking forward, keeping your torso still.
  3. Perform 3 to 4 sets, taking 12 to 15 steps, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Liverpool’s Strategic Succession Plan for Mohamed Salah: Top Targets Include Bundesliga Stars and Arne Slot Protégé, Budget Insights Revealed

As Arne Slot surveyed his Liverpool squad in Paris, searching for a spark to reignite their challenging match, his gaze fell upon the substitutes’ bench. There, Mohamed Salah sat, his face a mask of neutrality that perhaps hid a simmering frustration beneath his high-visibility bib and team tracksuit.

Despite being just the player Liverpool might need to claw back from a 2-0 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain, Slot chose not to call upon Salah, who boasts an impressive tally of 255 goals for the club.

In the wake of a significant £450 million investment in new talent last summer, Liverpool’s management is now tasked with the daunting challenge of planning for Salah’s eventual replacement—a task that promises to be anything but straightforward.

Daily Mail Sport delves into Liverpool’s strategy for this transition, exploring potential targets and examining the budgetary considerations at play.

Daily Mail Sport has looked at how they will do that, which players they are targeting and what money is available.

When in desperate need of a goal at 2-0 down to Paris Saint-Germain, Arne Slot did not fancy Mohamed Salah, a man with 255 of them for the club

When in desperate need of a goal at 2-0 down to Paris Saint-Germain, Arne Slot did not fancy Mohamed Salah, a man with 255 of them for the club

What sort of player do Liverpool want?

It was a question we posed to Slot last Friday and he joked that with the way football is going, someone who could take a long throw-in would be beneficial.

But on a serious note, Liverpool have noticed that the game is evolving and they could turn to a more tricky, pacy winger that can unlock a deep defence.

Just take the last few games for the Reds. They were undone by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s mazy run for PSG’s second goal, several doses of brilliance from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo at Manchester City, and trickery from Yankuba Minteh (more on him later) at Brighton.

And then look around at the world’s best teams. Pep Guardiola used to prefer the sensible, conservative approach of Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva on the wings when City won the Treble – now he wants the unorthodox styles of Cherki, Semenyo and Jeremy Doku. The best team in Europe this season are probably Bayern Munich and their attackers are similar with Luis Diaz, Michael Olise and Serge Gnabry as a trio behind Harry Kane.

‘We are aware that football has changed in England,’ Slot said last week. ‘We will always try to have our own style, but we cannot shut our eyes for the new reality.

‘And that it’s not only low blocks, it’s also set-piece after set-piece after set-piece. One of the reasons why we haven’t been successful in the first half of the season was mainly set-pieces. Yes, I’m fully involved in next season and we have these discussions as well.

‘How can we unlock a low block? Wingers are very important to unlock a low block, as we noticed last season with Mo and Luis Diaz. Replacing Mo on a one-on-one is probably impossible. So we have to find a way of making it work that the team is stronger.’

Slot insists he is part of the recruitment process – and a big change is needed with at least one forward a necessity.

Who may they target?

RB Leipzig’s 19-year-old wide man Yan Diomande has been followed extensively by Liverpool, according to sources. But he will not be cheap – the German side want €100m (£87.3m) – and this could put the Reds and other suitors off.

The young Ivorian has also been followed by Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich and has had an extraordinary rise. As my colleague Nathan Salt reported this week, just three years ago, Diomande was playing amateur football in the American fourth tier.

He could not afford football boots as a kid but flourished and moved to Florida without a word of English in his vocabulary after an exceptional Under 17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Liverpool have solid relations with Leipzig having signed Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate from them in recent years. They also nearly did a deal for defender Lutsharel Geertruida – on loan at Sunderland from Leipzig – earlier this year. But the Germans will not sell Diomande on the cheap, should the Reds or any other team decide to step up their interest. Leipzig are also set to offer him a new deal with a bumper pay rise to try to convince him to stay.

Another option is Minteh at Brighton, whom Slot coached at Feyenoord. The Seagulls wide man has really stepped up in the last 18 months after joining from Newcastle in 2024. Albion paid £33m and would realistically want to double their money.

The Gambian, 21, said recently he has ‘fallen in love’ with Brighton and is settled on the south coast – but might find it tough to turn down a move to an elite side.

German reports this week have talked up Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure as a potential option. The Ivorian has 11 Bundesliga assists this term and the club have kept a watching brief on him but he is perhaps not the No 1 target right now.

Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao has been mentioned as an option by some reports and sources in Portugal say Liverpool have monitored him, but any talk may be driven more from the Serie A team’s side.

Juve boss Luciano Spalletti, who coached Salah at Roma, said this week: ‘The comparison with the early Salah is appropriate. Conceicao is still a young player; he has things to learn. He needs to convince himself that he can also play more centrally.’

Given Newcastle’s reported need to sell players this year, Anthony Gordon will inevitably be linked again after nearly moving in 2024, while Liverpool will be looking at a host of other candidates.

PSG’s Bradley Barcola and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo were discussed last summer.

Is anyone at the club ready to step up?

Rio Ngumoha will be expected to take further strides next year. When rumours around Barcola were swirling last summer, club officials insisted they did not want to block the pathway for Ngumoha, though Slot pushed back at those putting too much pressure on the 17-year-old this season.

The youngster has shown he is more than capable of playing a bigger role next year but the club are right to go easy on his body.

Last year’s trio of signings in Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike have played just 88 minutes together this year and they will only get better next season, injuries permitting. Perhaps they will replicate Salah’s output and influence between the three of them.

What money is available?

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire told Daily Mail Sport recently that Liverpool could have a £200m black hole should they not qualify for the Champions League. They are currently fifth, enough for a Champions League spot, with seven games to go but are only one point above Chelsea and three in front of Brentford and Everton.

‘Effectively for every £1 you make in the Champions League, you probably make 22p in the Europa League and 11p in the Conference League,’ said Maguire. ‘So it really is a case of Champions League or bust as far as the finances are concerned.’

There is also the factor that potential transfer targets might not want to join if the Reds are not playing in Europe’s premier competition.

Salah defined a generation. Replacing him will lay the foundations for the next generation.

Ashley Graham Criticizes GLP-1 Trend, Calling It a Blow to the Body Positivity Movement

Ashley Graham, the renowned model and advocate for body positivity, has consistently championed the movement, but the recent surge in popularity of GLP-1 medications has posed a new challenge. These trends appear to counteract the progress made in embracing diverse body types.

“It’s really disheartening,” Graham expressed in her interview with Marie Claire, published on April 30. “There was a pendulum swing that focused on body acceptance and positivity, encouraging everyone to be who they want to be. Now, it’s swinging back in the opposite direction, which feels like a slap in the face to women who finally felt like they had a voice.”

Medications like semaglutides and GLP-1s, including Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro, were initially designed to assist adults dealing with weight-related health issues. However, their use has expanded into celebrity circles as a quick fix for weight loss, despite medical professionals warning against using them casually.

“Trends evolve, and GLP-1s are part of this evolution,” Graham noted. “I understand there will always be women who are considered plus-size, and this drug won’t erase an entire demographic of women.”

Ashley Graham Embraces Bare Postpartum Stomach 1 Year After Welcoming Twin Sons hoop earrings

In a proud testament to her advocacy, Ashley Graham continues to celebrate her postpartum body, including her stretch marks, one year following the birth of her twin boys. At 35, she shared an unfiltered photo of her bare stomach on Instagram, embracing her natural form without any captions.

For Graham, she plans to continue building a “community” of body-positive women.

“There’s so many [plus size influencers and creators]. They’re all over the place with their sizes and their proportions and how they look and how they’re relatable,” the supermodel mused to the outlet. “And to me, that’s the coolest part about all of this. Seeing that these girls, who were raised on social media at such a young age are now coming in and they have a platform to say to the younger generation, ‘Be yourself, be who you want to be. If you have cellulite, who cares?’”

Florence Pugh Body Positive Celebs

As these Hollywood celebrities show in their words, actions and online posts, the body-positivity movement has officially entered the mainstream. Well-known activists have used social media as a tool to spread more messages of self-love to their fans. Mindy Kaling made a splash when she posted a series of photos of herself wearing different two-piece […]

Graham, for her part, is also still working to accept her own postpartum body. (Graham shares three sons with her husband, Justin Ervin.)

“I’m living in a different body and it’s been hard to get to know her,” she said of her post-baby figure. “I can’t say that I can look in the mirror and be like, ‘I love you.’ It’s not that for me. It’s that, ‘Wow, I made some children.’”

She continued, “I was as fit as I could be in 2019 when I got pregnant. I’m still trying to get to that, but I’ve had to get over it in my head that I’ll look like I did in my late 20s, early 30s. She’s gone. Let’s focus on the new girl. That has been like the last four years of my conversation in my head.”

Airlines Step Up to Support Spirit Ticket Holders and Employees Amid Travel Disruptions

NEWARK, New Jersey (PIX11) – After more than three decades in the skies, Spirit Airlines ceased operations on Saturday. This news raises questions about the future for both ticket holders and employees.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stepped in to detail plans for affected passengers and staff. He announced that other airlines would provide discounts to Spirit ticket holders and offer “preferential employment interviews” for former Spirit employees, following the airline’s shutdown.

Discounts and refunds after Spirit ends service

Major carriers like United Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, and Southwest Airlines have agreed to set price limits for former Spirit customers, Duffy confirmed on Saturday. To benefit from these capped fares, passengers must book directly through the respective airline’s website and present their Spirit confirmation number and payment proof.

Both American Airlines and Delta are reducing fares on routes that were popular with Spirit. Meanwhile, Allegiant is maintaining current prices on shared routes, and Frontier is offering a 50% discount on base fares network-wide until May 10, according to Duffy.

For those who prefer not to rebook with another airline, Spirit has committed to refunding passengers who bought tickets directly through its website. These refunds will be processed back to the original payment method.

Air travelers who may have booked through a third-party service, like a travel agent, are advised to contact the servicer to discuss a refund.

What happens to Spirit employees?

Duffy confirmed that those who worked with Spirit are no longer employed as of Saturday morning; however, other airlines are extending help with employment.

Travel pass benefits, such as spare jump seats, will be offered to former Spirit employees who may need to catch a flight back home.

American Airlines and United are also giving “preferential employment interviews” for Spirit team members. Those looking to apply can find information on the airlines’ websites.

Why did Spirit Airlines shut down?

Spirit has struggled financially since the COVID-19 pandemic, weighed down by rising operating costs and growing debt. By the time it filed for Chapter 11 protection in November 2024, Spirit had lost more than $2.5 billion since the start of 2020.

The budget carrier sought bankruptcy protection again in August 2025, when it reported having $8.1 billion in debts and $8.6 billion in assets, according to court filings.

Spirit Airlines Ceases Operations After 34-Year Run

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — After 34 years of shaking up the airline industry with its cheeky marketing and budget-friendly ticket prices, Spirit Airlines has announced that it is closing its doors for good.

The budget carrier, known for its distinctive yellow aircraft and extensive network of daily flights, has begun a systematic shutdown of its operations. Spirit, which employed approximately 17,000 people, declared this change effective immediately.

According to a statement on their website, all Spirit flights have been grounded, and customer service support has been discontinued. On Saturday, some travelers arrived at the airport, only to be surprised by the sudden cancellations, while employees learned overnight about their job losses.

Spirit Airlines expressed pride in the legacy of its ultra-low-cost business model, which had a significant impact on the airline industry over the past three decades. The company had hoped to continue serving its customers well into the future, as stated in their announcement.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy mentioned on Saturday that Spirit has set aside a reserve fund to refund customers who purchased tickets directly from the airline. Those who booked through travel agents or other third-party vendors will need to pursue refunds through those channels. Duffy emphasized the importance of this information for Spirit’s customers.

“If you have a flight scheduled with Spirit Airlines, don’t show up at the airport. There will be no one here to assist you,” Duffy said.

He said United, Delta, JetBlue and Southwest were offering $200 one-way flights for people who had Spirit confirmation numbers and proof of purchase for a limited time. Other airlines would also help Spirit employees who might be stranded, as well as offering them a preferential application process as they look for work.

Spirit said in a statement it was working to get more than 1,300 crew to their home bases and that the final Spirit flight landed at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport from Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

The company advised customers that they could expect refunds but there would be no help in booking travel on other airlines.

The Trump administration had considered a government bailout for the cash-strapped business to keep it from going under, but a deal was not reached. Of the potential bailout, Duffy said Saturday “we often times don’t have half a billion dollars laying around.”

President Donald Trump had floated the idea of a bailout last week after the airline found itself in bankruptcy proceedings for the second time in less than two years with jet fuel prices soaring because of the Iran war.

‘They got you there’

Five Spirit flights were still showing as “on time” on Saturday morning on the departure board in Atlanta. A trickle of passengers who hadn’t heard the news were still showing up.

“What!?” exclaimed Taylor Nantang as she, her husband and four children arrived for a Saturday afternoon Spirit flight from Atlanta to Miami for a spur-of-the-moment vacation. The family had driven down from Tennessee to the Atlanta airport.

“So the whole airline at every airport is out of business?” asked Nantang. “Oh my, that’s crazy.”

Other passengers wondered whether the airline would still answer its customer service phone, or when the refunds for cancelled flights might arrive on their credit cards.

Joshua Sigler, who had bought a ticket Friday for a flight Saturday to Miami, said he would just return home after learning of the cancellation, rather than try to take advantage of deals other airlines were offering to stranded Spirit passengers.

He said he had gotten no communication from Spirit, which he had flown multiple times in the past. “They get you there,” he said of past flights. “It was cheap.”

‘Boo-hoo crying’

Former Spirit flight attendant Freddy Peterson was on a Spirit flight from Detroit that arrived in Newark around 11 p.m. Friday. He said that despite rumors flying on social media Friday, things seemed kind of normal, with more than 200 passengers on the plane.

“All our aircraft were packed,” he said.

Peterson, 60, said he set his alarm clock for 3 a.m. Saturday to check the company website at the hour of the rumored shutdown.

“I said, OK, well, since all this going on, they said Spirit is supposed to close at 3, I’m going to bed. I set my alarm clock for 3 o’clock, went onto the website and it said, ‘Spirit flights have been canceled,’” Peterson said.

He said Delta Air Lines brought him and another flight attendant back to Atlanta on Saturday morning, with Peterson leaving from there to drive to his home in Shellman in southwest Georgia.

“I’ll probably do my boo-hoo crying and all that other stuff once I get in the car.”

Peterson said he had been a flight attendant with Spirit for 10 years and the company has “done wonders for me.” He said the airline’s reputation for bargain basement chaos was largely undeserved, but he did fault management for not communicating with the employees in the closing days, saying a promised employee town hall was canceled.

Bailout fizzles

As late as Friday afternoon, Trump had said that “we’re looking at it” and had given the budget carrier a “final proposal” for a taxpayer-funded takeover.

White House blames Biden

The White House had blamed President Joe Biden administration for Spirit’s tenuous financial situation. Biden, a Democrat, opposed a proposed merger between Spirit and JetBlue in 2023. On Saturday, Trump administration officials took to social media to amplify voices of conservative critics who faulted Biden for Spirit’s demise.

On Saturday, Duffy concentrated blame on Biden as well as his predecessar Pete Buttigieg.

“Many at the time said that this was a disaster. This merger should have been allowed,” he said.

Tad DeHaven, a policy analyst at the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank, said the Trump administration also bears responsibility, arguing that the airline’s current crisis reflects a chain reaction of policy missteps rather than a single decision. He pointed specifically to Trump’s decision to strike Iran as “bad foreign policy,” saying the conflict drove up jet fuel prices and Spirit’s operating costs.

“They were already in trouble,” DeHaven said, describing the situation as “a compounding effect in terms of policy.”

Supporters of a rescue including labor unions representing Spirit’s pilots, flight attendants and ramp workers said a collapse would put thousands of Americans out of work and hurt consumers by reducing airline competition and increasing airfares. About 17,000 jobs could be impacted, according to Spirit lawyer Marshall Huebner.

Budget-conscious and leisure travelers would likely feel Spirit’s absence the most, especially in places where the airline has a big footprint such as Las Vegas and the Florida cities of Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.

The carrier flew about 1.7 million domestic passengers in February, roughly half a million fewer than during the same month a year earlier, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. Spirit also has sharply reduced its capacity, with about half as many seats available this month than in May 2024.

Federal Authorities Investigate Man’s Disturbing Request to Congress Member About Trump

A man from Pennsylvania is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening to kill a member of Congress and urging the representative to assassinate former President Donald Trump. This alarming case centers around Raymond Chandler III, who is now entangled in federal legal proceedings.

According to an affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, Chandler is charged with influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a federal official by threatening a family member, as well as making threats against the official themselves. These charges highlight the gravity of the accusations, underscoring the severity of the situation.

Details of Chandler’s alleged actions were laid out by an FBI agent in a criminal complaint. Interestingly, Chandler has a website that promotes his campaign for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, where he aims to succeed Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.). His campaign platform includes goals such as “Tax the Billionaires,” “Fight Against Corruption,” and “Support Working Families.”

The incident in question reportedly occurred on April 18, when Chandler left a disturbing voicemail for an unidentified U.S. representative. In the message, he presented a chilling scenario: “Sir, I have, uh, I’m calling this morning ’cause I want you to imagine a scenario. I want you to imagine a scenario where all the 1200 billionaires in this country, all their properties are surrounded simultaneously by a thousand people.”

He continued with increasingly alarming implications, stating, “So imagine your house, your daughter’s house, everyone you know and love who is also rich. Imagine every single one of those homes being surrounded by a thousand people. Then imagine them all getting a text and then, then suddenly taking out their pocket knives, walking slowly towards your house … and then they come and they pull you out of your house and they slit your throat and they slit your daughter’s throat and they slit everyone’s throat.”

“[T]hat is the future,” he allegedly adds. “It’s not a future I want, it’s not a future I’m advocating for, but wealth concentration has gotten so bad in this country. The greed has gotten so bad. People are suffering so much, sir, that that is what is in our future. You will not escape their wrath. We must redistribute the wealth away from people like you.”

According to federal authorities, 11 days later, Chandler turned his attention to Trump.

“You’ve probably getting quite used to my voice,” Chandler allegedly said on a voicemail to the same member of Congress. “Sir, I’m calling this evening because what I want you to do is I want you to take a firearm. I want you to put it in your hand. I want you to walk into the Oval Office. I want you to put that firearm to the President’s head, and I want you to pull the trigger and I want you to kill him.”

“I am petitioning you, Senator for redress of grievances. My redress of grievances is that this president is awful,” he added, according to the FBI agent. “He’s a liar among all liars. He’s a great deceiver. He’s the antichrist. I want you to walk into the Oval Office with a gun in your hand. I want you to put it to his temple, and I want you to pull the trigger.”

“That is what I want you to do as my agent,” the affidavit continues, citing the alleged voicemail. “That’s what I want you to do as my elected official. That’s what I am petitioning you to do with my free speech. I want you to kill the President. I want you to assassinate the President. That’s what I want you to do. Now, Senator, are you gonna come after me? Are you going to try me because of my voice and what I said?”

The affidavit said that on this day — April 28 — the member of Congress’ representatives “provided the FBI” with information about the suspect. The FBI noted that it reviewed voicemails from Chandler tracing back a year, where he allegedly listed his name and address.

The defendant also reportedly targeted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in threats in April 2025, expressing his concern that “some people would be sent to death camps and that he recently bought a seven-inch combat knife and a dagger because he is terrified that his government would kill him.”

Chandler allegedly stated that he would “personally kill,” stated his “intent to build gallows to hang” the member of Congress, and “communicated his realization that violence” and death to certain people including Trump “has become necessary.”

A magistrate judge in the U.S. Western District of Pennsylvania has been assigned to the case.

It is not yet clear when Chandler will appear in court.

Chaos Unleashed: Gunshots Ring Out at Chris Brown’s Home During Rihanna Legal Turmoil

Gunshots reportedly erupted near Chris Brown’s Los Angeles home on Friday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

According to sources, officers rushed to the musician’s Tarzana residence shortly after 4 PM due to reports of gunfire, as reported by TMZ.

A woman allegedly informed the police that a man had fired at her car during a conflict outside the property.

Audio recordings obtained by the outlet revealed dispatchers relaying details about the suspect, including his attire and estimated age, to the officers en route.

Upon arrival, police conducted interviews with both parties involved. Sources indicate that the male suspect claimed the altercation started when the woman refused to vacate the premises.

The man allegedly told authorities that the situation escalated after the woman drove over his foot, prompting him to fire shots at her car.

The man was reportedly taken into custody at the scene and has been arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.

It remains unclear whether Brown, 36, was inside the mansion at the time of the shooting, or if either of those involved had any direct connection to the singer.

Authorities emphasized that the shots were fired on the street outside the property, not inside the house or on the grounds of the estate itself.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Brown’s representatives for comment.

The incident comes just hours after it was reported Brown is attempting to block his ex-housekeeper Maria Avila from presenting certain evidence when they square off in court, court filings show.

Their legal battle stretches back to 2021, when Brown was sued by Maria and her sister Patricia, who worked together as his cleaning ladies.

It was claimed in the original lawsuit that Brown’s dog Hades set upon Maria in 2020, biting her face and leg and tearing three to four inches of skin from her arm.

A half-decade later, the case is finally set to go to trial June 15, but the two sides are now wrangling over what is admissible, per court documents seen by the Daily Mail.

Brown has filed to prevent any mention in court of his infamous 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna, while Maria wants the subject to be discussable at trial.

He is also trying to have Maria barred from showing pictures showing the injuries she purportedly sustained in the alleged dog attack, the legal documents show.

Maria has argued in court documents that the judge should not bar discussion of domestic violence accusations or incidents in Brown’s history.

She made specific note of the fact Brown had pled guilty in 2009 to one count of felony assault on Rihanna, who was treated at the hospital after the incident.

Brown’s counsel on the other hand has pushed back against Maria’s contention and maintained that the Rihanna incident should be kept out of the upcoming trial on the grounds that it could prejudice the jury and was ‘irrelevant’ to the dog attack case.

Meanwhile Maria’s side insisted the Rihanna case should be admissible because Brown’s being a convicted felon could serve as a factor in determining his ‘credibility.’

She has also submitted court documents to combat his bid to stop her showing grisly photos obtained by TMZ of the wounds she claimed Hades visited on her.

Maria’s legal filing insisted that her damages would be difficult to establish without her being able to present the images, which according to her indicate the extent of her ‘pain, suffering and emotional distress.’

Her attorney has provided a statement to the Daily Mail decrying the ‘brutal and life-altering attack on’ Maria and denouncing Brown for ‘denying ownership, denying knowledge, and offering no credible explanation for how a dangerous dog came to be housed on his property, where others, including children, were present.’

At the time of the alleged dog attack, Brown was father to two children, a now 11-year-old daughter called Royalty and a now six-year-old son called Aeko. In the intervening years, he has welcomed a further two children.

In the original 2021 complaint filed by Maria’s sister Patricia, it was claimed Brown hired the siblings to clean his Los Angeles house twice weekly for $600 per day.

The suit held that when she and Maria were working at his property in the suburb of Tarzana, the singer’s dogs were kept in a different part of the premises.

Her complaint further maintained that Caucasian Shepherds – the breed of the dog accused of attacking Maria – had a known history of aggression and violence.

The court documents held that Maria was set upon by Brown’s pet when she was out in the backyard in order to empty a vacuum cleaner.

The dog was pulled from Maria and Brown dialed 911, whereupon the housekeeper was taken to the hospital and had to undergo multiple surgeries, the lawsuit alleged.

Maria was said to have endured panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, severe anxiety and emotional distress as a result of the purported dog attack.

Patricia claimed in her lawsuit that Brown had failed to protect the sisters from unreasonable risk of harm, while Brown has subsequently denied wrongdoing and insisted that the dog in question was provoked.
