Zoo Atlanta Welcomes Rare Armadillo Pup: A Milestone in Conservation Efforts

ATLANTA — In an exciting development, Zoo Atlanta proudly announced on Wednesday the birth of its inaugural endangered southern three-banded armadillo pup.

While Georgia is home to many nine-banded armadillos, the southern three-banded variety is native to South American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay.

The zoo is providing special care to their newest resident as part of the Ambassador Animals collection. This species is classified as “near threatened” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Dr. Gina Ferrie, Vice President of Collections and Conservation at the zoo, emphasized the significance of this event. “This birth holds particular importance as it marks the first armadillo born at Zoo Atlanta. Given that baby armadillos are seldom observed in the wild, there is a natural curiosity about their appearance, growth, and development. We eagerly anticipate watching this young one mature, offering our members and visitors a chance to learn about the unique behaviors and adaptations of this species, distinct from the nine-banded armadillos commonly found in Georgia,” she stated.

The newborn pup now joins its parents, Persephone and Finnegan, as well as another southern three-banded armadillo named Violetta, in their Zoo Atlanta habitat.

Reflecting on its historical roots, City Comptroller Mark Levine shared a nostalgic glimpse into the past. “Park Ave. earned its name because, a century ago, it boasted an actual park in the median,” Levine noted in a post on X, accompanied by a vintage photograph showcasing the avenue’s former expansive medians before they were narrowed to accommodate increasing traffic.

Revitalize Your 60s: Top 5 Daily Exercises Men Must Embrace to Stay Youthful and Energetic

0

If your goal is to enjoy a long and healthy life, enhancing your workout routine with specific exercises is key.

Imagine if longevity could be packaged and sold—everyone would be eager to buy it, no matter the cost. Fortunately, you don’t need to spend anything to get your body into top shape. All it requires is a well-structured plan and the commitment to stick to it.

Exercise is fundamental to leading a long and healthy life. It plays a vital role in slowing down the aging process by fortifying your heart and muscles and reducing the risk of age-related health conditions. Studies indicate that engaging in high-intensity workouts can add more healthy years to your life, while activities like walking and strength training can significantly decrease the risk of mortality. Essentially, the right exercise routine can help you maintain an active and independent lifestyle.

“From a fitness and longevity perspective, staying youthful involves maintaining functional strength, mobility, and cardiovascular health,” explains Far Samji, a five-time Canadian golf champion and founder of Smashing Golf. “It’s not just about muscle mass, although that’s a benefit. Consistency is more valuable than intensity when it comes to exercises that help you stay young. Performing simple exercises daily is more beneficial than doing an intense one-hour workout once a month.” Samji, who holds degrees in Psychology and Kinesiology from McMaster University, frequently works with men in their 60s who are keen to stay fit for golf.

“From a fitness and longevity standpoint, staying young means maintaining functional strength, mobility, and cardiovascular health. It’s not solely about and for muscle mass, although this may be a gain as well. Additionally, for the exercises for staying young, consistency beats intensity. It’s better to do simple exercises daily than an hour-long workout once a month,” explains Far Samji, a five-time Canadian golf champion and the founder of Smashing Golf. Samji holds degrees in Psychology and Kinesiology from McMaster University and regularly works with men in their 60s who want to remain fit for golf.

With so many workouts available, it could be overwhelming knowing what to do. To help you get started, we are here with five exercises men should do every day to stay young after 60.

Due to Samji’s background, she recommends squats, hip hinges, lunges, pushups and hamstring stretches for men 60+. She notes “they’re great for training the core and leg muscles, along with the hips—[which are] essential for mobility and strength.” Here’s how to do them.

Squats

“Squats are ideal for older men because they increase bone density and reduce fall risk,” Samji tells us.

  1. Stand tall, feet shoulder-width apart on the floor.
  2. Extend your arms ahead of you or place your hands on your hips.
  3. Bend at the knees and hips as you lower into a squat.
  4. Descend until your thighs are parallel to the floor.
  5. Press through your heels to rise back up to standing.

Bodyweight Hip Hinges

“Hip hinges help protect the back and train the body for proper lifting,” Samji notes.

  1. Stand tall, feet hip-width apart.
  2. Place your hands behind your head.
  3. Press your hips back while keeping your chest tall.
  4. As you hinge forward, feel a solid stretch in your hamstrings.
  5. Activate your hamstrings and glutes to drive your hips forward.

Lunges

“As for lunges, these build leg strength for climbing stairs and for walking in general,” Samji explains.

  1. Stand tall with your feet parallel, hip-distance apart.
  2. Place your hands on your hips.
  3. Step forward with one foot.
  4. Engage your core as you bend your knees, lowering to form 90-degree bends in both legs.
  5. Keep your upper body straight.
  6. Press through your front heel and the ball of your back foot to rise back up.

Pushups

“Pushups are great for maintaining strength for carrying and reaching,” Samji says.

  1. Start in a high plank with your hands under your shoulders and your body straight from head to heels.
  2. Activate your core.
  3. Bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the floor. Maintain a long, straight body as you lower.
  4. Press back up, straightening your arms.

Hamstring Stretch

“Hamstring stretches, and stretches in general, are great for sustaining mobility by preventing stiffness in the joints,” Samji tells us.

  1. Begin by lying flat on a mat with one leg bent and the other extended on the ground.
  2. Lift your bent leg, bringing your thigh in toward your chest.
  3. Hold behind your thigh.
  4. Gradually straighten your lifted leg, extending it toward the sky.
  5. Make sure your lower back remains neutral and your hips grounded.
  6. Gently pull your leg closer as you feel a solid stretch in the back of your thigh.
  7. Hold the position.
  8. Lower and repeat on the other side.

Police Report: Woman Fatally Strikes Boyfriend with Modified Golf Cart

A Texas woman, aged 59, faces accusations of murder for allegedly fatally injuring her boyfriend with a modified golf cart amidst a heated dispute. Instead of seeking help, she reportedly left him outside his residence overnight.

Court documents reveal Lisa Ann Guetter was apprehended this week and is now charged with murdering 71-year-old Gene Donald Kaping.

Authorities from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Quitman, Texas home after receiving a report of an unresponsive individual, later identified as Kaping, on April 3, according to a report from KYTX, a CBS and CW affiliate in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Upon their arrival, emergency personnel discovered Kaping severely injured and lying on the ground outside his house. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he battled his injuries for about four days before passing away, as stated by police.

During a police interview, Guetter allegedly recounted that on April 2, after a drinking session, she struck Kaping with a “souped-up” golf cart moving at approximately 15 mph. She claimed that Kaping appeared to “hydroplane” away from the vehicle, eventually landing near large rocks.

Guetter said she and Kaping began arguing after the impact, and Kaping walked a short distance before lying down in the driveway, Tyler, Texas, ABC affiliate KLTV reported.

Guetter claimed Kaping told her not to call for help, so she left him there through the night, without seeking medical attention. She reportedly did not check on him for about 12 hours, which is when she found him still outside and unresponsive.

Authorities said Guetter initially claimed the golf cart’s brakes were not working, but investigators soon discovered the vehicle’s brakes were functional, according to KLTV.

Additionally, detectives said Guetter drove the golf cart in loops in the driveway before she struck Kaping, emphasizing that she would have been “very aware” of where he was at the time of the collision.

The investigation also allegedly uncovered troubling details about the couple’s relationship. During a search of the home, deputies reportedly found a handwritten note from Guetter that read, “Why let him be there? Why not shoot him?”

Kaping’s sister spoke to authorities, reportedly describing Guetter as “controlling, mean and evil,” particularly when she drinks.

The affidavit also recounted a prior domestic violence incident in which Guetter allegedly attacked Kaping with a knife.

Guetter is being held in the Wood County Jail on a $1 million bond based on the upgraded murder charge. It was not immediately clear when she was scheduled to appear in court.

A Few Sparks of Brilliance Illuminate Otherwise Dull Performance

0

RATING: 5 / 10

Back in 2006, audiences were captivated by the formidable Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, as she famously critiqued her assistant Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) over a cerulean sweater in “The Devil Wears Prada.” Now, this beloved film has a sequel, but does it live up to its predecessor? Unfortunately, the answer seems to be a resounding no.

Pros

  • Stunning costume design by Molly Rogers
  • Some actors, like Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, fall back into their roles with ease and humor
  • Justin Theroux feels like a breath of fresh air

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” struggles to capture the charm that made the original so beloved, with a narrative that feels lackluster and uninspired, despite occasional moments of brilliance. Fans of the first film, known for its wit and emotional depth, had high hopes when they learned that director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, along with stars Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, were all returning for the sequel. Sadly, this follow-up serves as a reminder that some classics are best left untouched.

  • Over-expository dialogue feels like the director expects people to be using their phones while they watch
  • Weird pacing, tone, and plot contrivances
  • Both Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly lose what makes them great

So what storyline does this sequel explore, given that the original wrapped up without paving the way for a continuation? Instead of adapting Lauren Weisberger’s follow-up novel, “Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns,” Frankel and McKenna chart their own course. The film revisits Andy 20 years after the original, now a successful investigative journalist facing sudden corporate downsizing. This twist of fate leads her back to Runway, where she takes on a new role heading the editorial features department. Along the way, she reunites with familiar faces — Miranda, fashion director Nigel Kipling (Tucci), and former co-assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt). But what could possibly go awry? As it happens, quite a bit. Minor spoilers ahead!

The film opens with Andy receiving an award only to find herself jobless shortly after. An editorial crisis at Runway provides an unexpected opportunity for her return. The dilemma arises when a features editor publishes an article endorsing a brand involved in unethical practices, leading to a backlash against Runway. Miranda, ever the skeptic, appears to relish the challenge of complicating Andy’s life. Or does she have other motives?

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” being often mediocre and sometimes outright bad — with occasional flashes of brilliance — is deeply disappointing for fans of the smart, snappy original, which felt light, effortless, and surprisingly emotional throughout. That’s why, when fans learned that original director and screenwriter David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna were returning for the sequel — alongside Streep, Hathaway, and their co-stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci — they had reason to be excited. Unfortunately, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” proves that some things do simply go out of style.

So what is this sequel about, anyway, considering that the first movie didn’t exactly set up any sort of narrative follow-up? Rather than adapt a second book by Lauren Weisberger – her 2003 novel of the same name was the source material for “The Devil Wears Prada,” based on her experiences as Anna Wintour’s beleaguered assistant, and she released “Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns” in 2013 — Frankel and McKenna struck out on their own. When we meet Andy again, 20 or so years after the original movie, she’s a successful, award-winning investigative journalist who’s suddenly hit by restructuring and corporate cuts and ends up, once again, back at Runway to lead the magazine’s editorial features department. Along the way, she reunites with, of course, Miranda, fashion director Nigel Kipling (Tucci), and even her former co-assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt). What could go wrong? A lot, as it turns out. Minor spoilers ahead!

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is bogged down by a stilted script and odd character choices

After Andy wins an award and loses her job in the first few minutes of “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” she’s totally adrift … until an editorial crisis at Runway brings her back into the fold. (The long and short of it is that a features editor didn’t do her research and wrote an article promoting a brand that engaged in unsavory business practices, leading to Runway’s online “cancellation.”) Miranda, naturally, balks at the idea and seems determined to make Andy’s life difficult. Or does she?

One of the biggest structural issues with “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” honestly, is Miranda’s character … and, by extension, Andy’s. Anne Hathaway is an incredibly versatile and charming actor, but she’s weird in this movie, giving every single line an enthusiastic and peppy read that doesn’t always fit with the tone. Miranda is a much bigger problem, and it’s not Meryl Streep’s fault; it’s the writing. Not only does the script seem to dabble in a recent trend where characters repeatedly say what they’re doing in case the audience is on their phones, it’s repetitive and the opposite of effortless. It’s downright sweaty at times. (“So what you’re saying is, Miranda needs me,” Andy says to Nigel over lunch.)

Miranda, though, seems like a different character from one scene to the next. Sometimes she’s inviting Andy to her Hamptons house and telling her secrets in the kitchen; sometimes she’s calling her an abject failure. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for much of what Miranda does, which makes Andy make less sense — these characters are, after all, the twin pillars of the story. This is incredibly frustrating and derails the entire vibe of the movie.

Flashes of brilliance in The Devil Wears Prada 2 are few and far between

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it needs to be said anyway: the fashion in “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is to die for. That’s true of the first movie as well, of course, but when you consider that legendary costume designer Patricia Field worked on the first movie’s looks, anyone following her has enormous Christian Louboutin stilettos to fill. Enter Molly Rogers, an acolyte of Field’s who worked with her on “Sex and the City” and the original “Devil Wears Prada” and clearly learned quite a lot from her mentor. Everything worn by Andy, Miranda, Emily, and Nigel is unique, eye-catching, and flattering — Anne Hathaway is gifted some rich blue hues that look amazing on her, while Emily Blunt gets to wear some unbelievable structural pieces — and will fill inspiration boards for years to come.

Speaking of Blunt, she’s far and away the highlight of the film. (Whenever her character’s not on-screen, the audience should be asking, “Where’s Emily?”) Despite the fact that she’s positioned as the antagonist between the movie’s second and third acts, her bon mots are delightful — she has a fixation with Andy’s eyebrows that she absolutely refuses to drop — and it feels like no time has passed between now and when Blunt first broke onto the scene as Emily. The same is true of Stanley Tucci, whose wicked sense of humor gives way to a softness that adds an emotional layer to his scenes.

We didn’t need “The Devil Wears Prada 2” … and unfortunately, it shows. This might be a legacy sequel, but it feels like a bad knockoff; the “Channel” to the original’s “Chanel.”

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” lands in theaters on May 1.

UFO Whistleblowers Sound Alarm Following Mysterious Death of Air Force Officer

0

Individuals stepping forward as whistleblowers on unidentified flying objects claim they are facing efforts to stifle their revelations about what they consider to be some of the United States’ most tightly held secrets.

Jeremy Corbell, an investigative journalist instrumental in ushering several whistleblowers into congressional hearings, cautions that the dangers these individuals face go well beyond mere public judgment.

“They’re sacrificing their security clearances, their personal safety, and even the safety of their families, risking it all, if only because of the stigma,” Corbell explained to the Daily Mail. His upcoming film, Sleeping Dog, explores several of these cases in depth.

Among the prominent stories in the film is that of Dylan Borland, an Air Force veteran who testified before Congress in 2025 about his encounter with a 100-foot triangular craft near Langley Air Force Base in Virginia during his service.

“Since that time, my family, former colleagues, friends, and I have been subjected to harassment at levels I had never imagined,” Borland shared with the Daily Mail.

‘I do not know what the future holds because factions within the US Government appear to be openly and knowingly working to cover this up.’

He alleged that false documents were created and intelligence products generated under his name following his testimony.

Corbell also pointed to the death of former US Air Force intelligence officer Matthew Sullivan, 39, who died in 2024 before he could testify in a whistleblower hearing involving UFO-related programs.

‘His death is so suspicious in more ways than people know that the FBI and Congress are involved,’ Corbell said.

Sullivan had worked in roles connected to military intelligence and advanced technology programs and was reportedly scheduled to provide testimony about classified UFO-related matters before his sudden death.

Corbell said the timing raised serious concerns, saying: ‘This is very uncharacteristic in so many ways of what’s going on, and the timing of it is so bad.

‘Maybe he was so distraught that he took his own life. I wasn’t there, I don’t know. But I do know that the FBI and Congress and people who knew him very well see this as extremely suspicious, and it is being investigated.’

While officials have not released full details surrounding the circumstances of Sullivan’s death, the involvement of federal investigators has heightened fears among some whistleblowers about the risks tied to coming forward.

Borland said he chose to testify because he believed public safety was at risk.

‘I and others with direct knowledge of legacy non-human intelligence programs and craft have been subjected to crimes and disturbing actions intended to silence or intimidate us,’ he said.

‘Congress needed to know that this is real, and that they have been misled at best, and deliberately lied to at worst.

‘I went public to make sure the truth could no longer be buried, and to demand accountability for the crimes committed against those who knew too much.’

Borland testified that the craft he witnessed in 2012 appeared as a black metallic triangle with what he described as a ‘gold lava plasma-like fluid’ moving across its surface.

He said the object hovered silently before accelerating upward instantly to commercial jet altitude.

Borland also reported unusual physical effects during the encounter, claiming his phone overheated and froze, while static electricity filled the air and a smell similar to a thunderstorm lingered nearby.

During the 2025 Congressional hearing, he alleged that multiple government agencies blocked job opportunities, forged documents and manipulated his security clearance after he came forward.

Afterward, Borland said he was asked to appear before the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to testify about unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), including what he witnessed more than a decade earlier.

He said he provided classified and unclassified documents, medical records and emails that he believed supported his claims.

‘Within weeks of my appearance, an ODNI employee informed me that I had ‘lied under oath,”‘ Borland said. ‘That employee accused me of saying and doing things I did not say or do.’

He said the accusations reinforced fears that intelligence records had been manipulated to contradict his testimony.

After requesting access to his records to review how his statements were being used, Borland said communication from officials stopped entirely.

Corbell said the fear surrounding whistleblowers has grown in recent years.

‘So you see in the movie that Borland is so afraid for his own personal safety, and that’s the state they’re all in right now,’ he said.

‘They feel like there’s nowhere left to turn. They’re really nervous, for good reason. They’ve had some horrible things happen to them.’

Corbell said he has spoken to hundreds of individuals who claim to have knowledge related to UFO programs, though only a small number have formally testified.

Matthew Brown, who came forward in May 2025 claiming the existence of a secret program called 'Immaculate Constellation,' said he has faced home invasion and attempts to discredit him

Matthew Brown, who came forward in May 2025 claiming the existence of a secret program called ‘Immaculate Constellation,’ said he has faced home invasion and attempts to discredit him

‘I’ve had sources in every agency that I can name,’ he said.

One of those sources was Matthew Brown, who came forward in May 2025 claiming the existence of a secret program called ‘Immaculate Constellation,’ which he alleged collected classified UAP data.

Brown previously worked in senior advisory roles within the Department of Defense and the State Department.

‘I came forward as a UAP whistleblower to Congress and the American people because my oath to support and defend the Constitution demanded it,’ he said.

He alleged that since coming forward, he has experienced disturbing incidents.

‘Some of the most disturbing experiences include my home being broken into while I was asleep, intelligence officers infiltrating my social networks, and attempts to discredit UAP whistleblower testimony,’ Brown said.

Corbell warned that intimidation is not always physical.

He said many of the battles now take place online, where coordinated campaigns attempt to discredit whistleblowers through misinformation and public attacks.

Interest in unidentified aerial phenomena has surged in recent years, with lawmakers demanding increased transparency and access to classified material.

Reports from UFO whistleblowers stretch back decades, with individuals alleging the US government has concealed evidence of non-human technology.

The number of high-level witnesses has grown sharply since 2017, including military pilots, intelligence officials and others claiming involvement in secret programs.

Corbell said the stakes continue to rise as more witnesses weigh the decision to come forward.

‘They’re doing this because they believe the public deserves to know,’ he said.

‘And for many of them, the cost is everything.’

0

In a tragic turn of events, a young woman known for her accomplishments and vibrant life has been killed by her husband, who then took his own life. The couple, who were high school sweethearts, have left a community in Pennsylvania reeling from this heart-wrenching incident.

Authorities identified the individuals involved as 26-year-old Ryan Hosso and his 25-year-old wife, Madeline Spatafore. According to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police, the tragic events unfolded overnight on Tuesday when Hosso fatally shot Spatafore.

In a harrowing move, Hosso reportedly contacted his parents immediately after the incident, confessing to the murder and expressing thoughts of suicide. Alarmed, his parents quickly alerted the police. Upon arrival at the couple’s residence, officers discovered Spatafore dead, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Hosso’s body was later found in a wooded area behind the home, having died from a single gunshot wound.

Christopher Meloni’s Surprising Kiss Scene on ‘SVU’ Sparks Fan Frenzy

0

Mariska Hargitay expressed her disappointment over the decision by “Law & Order: SVU” creator Dick Wolf to cut a kissing scene between her and co-star Christopher Meloni.

In a recent conversation with the Hollywood Reporter, Hargitay reflected on a scene from Season 24 where her character, Olivia Benson, was scripted to kiss Elliot Stabler, played by Meloni. She revealed that Wolf opted for an alternate take where the characters only came close to kissing.

“We believed that the moment was well-earned and that it was time for it to happen, even if just briefly,” Hargitay shared.

“Wouldn’t you have loved to witness that firsthand? Absolutely,” she added with enthusiasm.

Despite filming several versions of the scene, Hargitay noted that Wolf and the show’s editors ultimately chose to broadcast the version where the characters shared an almost-kiss instead of the actual kiss.

Hargitay, 62, and Meloni, 65, “disagreed” with that decision.

“We disagreed because we thought that it was earned and the way it was dealt with was really complex and very beautiful and very human and showed the complexity of their relationship and all the different ways that they’re connected,” Hargitay told THR.

She added, “[But] no matter what I want, Dick Wolf can totally just say, ‘Uh, no.’”

Meloni previously addressed the deleted kissing scene between Benson and Stabler, who have had a “will they or won’t they” relationship on the NBC series, during TVLine Spotlight conversation last year.

“We were attempting something. I don’t think it worked,” he admitted. “But I’m not going to tell you why it didn’t work, because you all have your opinion.”

Off-screen, both actors are happily married. Hargitay has been married to Peter Hermann since 2004 and they have three children, while Meloni and Doris Sherman Williams have been married since 1995 and share two children.

Hargitay and Meloni joined “Law & Order: SVU” in 1999. Meloni left the show in 2011 and reprised his character for the “Law & Order: Organized Crime” spinoff, which was recently canceled after five seasons.

In her THR interview, Hargitay said it’s “possible” that Meloni could come back to “SVU.”

“At some point? I mean, anything’s possible. Yes,” she said. “The answer to that is he and I are not … it’s not done.”

After the spinoff was canceled, Meloni teared up while thanking fans for their support.

“I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans, who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back,” he shared in the April 16 Instagram clip.

The Emmy nominee also said he had a “good ride” playing Stabler for nearly 17 years.
