DCLM Daily Manna 26 April 2026 — Earn A Living

DCLM Daily Manna 26 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Earn A Living

TOPIC: Earn A Living (DCLM Daily Manna 26 April 2026)

KEY VERSE: For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you – 2 Thessalonians 3:7

TEXT: 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13 (KJV)

6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:

9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Nestled in the bustling heart of the economic nerve centre of a West African city was a church enmeshed in large-scale relational and interpersonal conflict. This emanated from a pocket of its members that lived in and on the church. It was ironic that in a busy commercial city, they opted to be busybodies unchristianly trafficking in the affairs of the church and the brethren in the assembly. The requests they tabled before the church were all insatiable. Their business was to cast aspersions on the church and be obsessed with other men’s affairs. Enervated, the resident pastor sought a master-stroke with a decisive and definitive solution. While he left the window of fellowship open, he ordered the church miscreants out to go fetch gainful employment and live responsibly. Thus was the problem solved and the church entered a realm of peace, progress and fellowship.

Our text takes us back in time to validate the wisdom of the pastor’s decision. From this imperative of Apostle Paul’s admonition, we learn that all men, without distinction, ought to involve themselves in gainful engagements of some sort, and that no man is entitled to spend his life in idleness. The Apostle here draws an illustration from his own life, recalling how he “wrought with labour and travail night and day.”

Idleness makes busybodies of its adherents who could later become disorderly in the family, or a community of faith or even in the larger society. Christians are called to the dignity of labour. Our faith does not make us idle, negligent or shirk our responsibilities. We do not whittle away our time because of waiting for the coming of the Lord. On the contrary, Christ teaches us to “Occupy till I come”.

We should accept the counsel against destructive laziness amongst able-bodied brethren. This is to stem the disruptive lifestyle of begging and dependence on other brethren, or at times on the church. In this process, the entire church is called to the path of social and economic productivity that would enhance fruitfulness, fellowship and faithfulness in the Body of Christ.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The slothful do not just rob themselves of fruitful living; they sin against God.

Arsenal Soars to Premier League Summit as Eze Stuns Newcastle – A Thrilling Match Recap

Arsenal ascended back to the top of the Premier League standings following a tight victory against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.

This win propels Mikel Arteta’s team three points ahead of Manchester City, although Arsenal has played one additional match.

Eberechi Eze netted the decisive goal just nine minutes into the game, capitalizing on a cleverly orchestrated short corner. The midfielder received the ball from Kai Havertz and expertly curled it into the top corner.

Eze strike proves decisive

Throughout the first half, Arsenal took command of the game with ease, effectively neutralizing Newcastle’s sporadic offensive efforts while maintaining their dominance.

Arsenal dominated early proceedings and maintained control through the first half, limiting Newcastle’s attacking threat despite occasional pressure.

Newcastle miss key chances

Eddie Howe’s side created openings through Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali and William Osula, but failed to convert.

Substitutes Yoane Wissa and Harvey Barnes were introduced in the second half as Newcastle pushed for an equaliser.

Wissa came closest late on but missed a clear opportunity, compounding a fourth consecutive league defeat for the visitors.

Injury concerns for Arsenal

Despite securing all three points, Arsenal suffered setbacks with both Eze and Havertz forced off through injury.

Manager Mikel Arteta will now assess their fitness ahead of a critical run of fixtures as the title race intensifies.

The win re-establishes Arsenal’s position at the top of the table, but with Manchester City in close pursuit, the margin for error remains minimal.

Rhapsody Of Realities 26 April 2026: You’re Of The God-Kind

Rhapsody Of Realities 26 April 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): You’re Of The God-Kind

TOPIC: You’re Of The God-Kind (Rhapsody of Realities 26 April 2026)

Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ… written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart (2 Corinthians 3:3).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

As learnt in our previous study, Christianity isn’t a set of moral codes or religious system; it’s the manifestation of the divine life in a human person. You’re not an ordinary being. The Bible says, “…Ye are gods…”(Psalm 82:6; John 10:34). That’s because you’re born of God.

Animals give birth to animals, and humans give birth to humans. If God gave birth to you through His Word, what does that make you? The Bible says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God…” (1 Peter 1:23). If you’re born of the Word, then you’re the Word, you’re of the God-kind. Hallelujah!

The Word of God describes and defines you. The Apostle Paul, by the Spirit, wrote: “Ye are our epistle…known and read of all men” (2 Corinthians 3:2). Then he takes it further by saying you’re the epistle of Christ. Just as the Lord Jesus was the Word made flesh, you are His Word expressed in human form, God’s letter to the world.

Since this is true, live your life in harmony with His thoughts and His words. Fear, discouragement and human limitations are foreign to your nature. Live the transcendent life, the life of the Spirit. Exercise dominion over Satan and the elements of this world, for they’re under your feet. Speak the Word; think the Word; live the Word.

Manifest Christ to your world; that’s your calling, that’s your life. You’re an associate of the God-kind, a partaker of the divine nature: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4).

CONFESSION

I’m God’s living tabernacle, a partaker of the divine nature. I live in the Word and by the Spirit. I manifest the life of Christ, His nature of love and righteousness. I refuse fear, discouragement and the limitations of the flesh. I walk in the liberty and dominion of the Spirit, revealing Christ in me. Hallelujah!

National Rebuilding Day: Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago Offers Complimentary Home Repairs Throughout Cook County

0

In a remarkable display of community spirit, Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago undertook the monumental task of repairing and modifying over 60 homes in just one day. This initiative, which unfolded across Cook County, was part of the broader effort known as National Rebuilding Day.

The organization, in collaboration with a dedicated team of volunteers and skilled trade unions, aimed to provide life-changing and free home repairs to those in need. The focus of these efforts was to ensure that homes were warm, safe, and dry, particularly for elderly seniors who wish to age in place comfortably.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

“We are working on a total of 61 homes between Chicago and Maywood,” remarked Wanda Ramirez, CEO of Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago. She emphasized that the repairs prioritized essential living conditions, catering especially to the vulnerable elderly population.

Among those benefiting from this initiative was Angenette Smith, a long-time resident of the Austin neighborhood, who has called her house home since 1985. Her residence was in dire need of attention, and the efforts of the volunteers promised to make a significant difference in her living conditions.

ABC7 took the opportunity to speak with several homeowners who were receiving this much-needed assistance on Saturday, capturing the profound impact of this collective endeavor on the local community.

“Electrical, plumbing, flooring, ceiling, painting , the handicap stuff that I need for the bathroom,” Smith said.

Smith says the free home improvements will make her life a little easier, and save her money on costly repairs.

“One ceiling fan is just 400 dollars to replace,” Smith said. “Considering the price of the ceiling fan, there is so much money that I am saving.”

Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago says they are accepting applications on a rolling basis for homeowners in need of repairs.

“There is such a big need especially here in Chicago and Cook County,” Ramirez said. “Their families have grown up here. Their grandchildren are here. You know maintaining the stability of the neighborhood, of the community, of their housing stock so that they can own it and have it available for their next generations to come. That’s what it’s all about.”

Nuclear Experts Debunk Iran’s Uranium Rights: Support for Trump’s Firm Stance Grows

0

In the midst of heated discussions between President Trump and Iran’s divided leadership over the country’s nuclear ambitions, prominent experts on Iran’s nuclear weapons program are backing the president’s firm objective to dismantle it.

A central issue in the fraught negotiations between Tehran and Washington is Iran’s assertion of its right to enrich and hold weapons-grade uranium, the critical component necessary for constructing a nuclear weapon.

The dispute over enriched uranium could prove to be a pivotal obstacle if forthcoming negotiations aimed at achieving a nuclear deal proceed in Pakistan.

Last week, Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, firmly dismissed Trump’s demands during a broadcast on state-run television.

“Under no circumstances will Iran’s enriched uranium be relocated,” Baqaei stated unequivocally.

Trump claimed Iran had agreed to “give us back the nuclear dust that’s way underground.” The President terms Iran’s 440 kilograms of enriched uranium as “nuclear dust” after sustained U.S. military strikes on Iranian sites that store the country’s stockpile of uranium.

“The United States should insist on a permanent ban of Iranian enrichment and its full dismantlement in negotiations. Iran retaining any enrichment infrastructure in anticipation of the end of a moratorium would allow it to cheat as soon as Trump leaves office and resume its path to nuclear weapons,” Andrea Stricker, deputy director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ nonproliferation program, told Fox News Digital.

Jonathan Ruhe, fellow for American strategy at JINSA, echoed Stricker on the importance of abolishing the Iranian enrichment program. He told Fox News Digital, “An acceptable deal would have to embody many of Trump’s stated redlines from his first administration, and from the run-up to last summer’s 12-Day War.

“This means permanent bans on enrichment, reprocessing and weaponization capability and, equally importantly, full verification of Iran’s compliance with these strictures.”

President Trump withdrew from President Obama’s widely criticized nuclear deal with Iran, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in 2018.

“In theory, the so-called ‘Iran deal’ was supposed to protect the United States and our allies from the lunacy of an Iranian nuclear bomb, a weapon that will only endanger the survival of the Iranian regime,” Trump said at the time. “In fact, the deal allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium and, over time, reach the brink of a nuclear breakout.”

Ruhe said, “The JCPOA failed to ensure IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] inspectors could monitor, and account for, the entirety of Iran’s program and its compliance with the deal. This problem has worsened significantly in the decade since, as Iran systematically stonewalled inspectors.

“Iran’s negotiators always drag out talks and avoid giving clear answers. They still think time is on their side, with their blockade hurting the global economy and their missile arsenals being dug out and prepared for renewed conflict. Trump should insist on a definitive response from Tehran and be ready for renewed operations.

“As a cautionary tale: The Obama team first entered nuclear talks with stringent redlines, but then they let Iran call their bluffs, ignore their deadlines and wear down their demands until we ended up with the JCPOA,” Ruhe said.

Iran is a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) that obligates it not to enrich uranium for military purposes. However, U.S. and European intelligence reports have documented Iran’s illicit proliferation activities.

Ruhe said, “This regime cynically wants it both ways: They insist the NPT gives the ‘right’ to peaceful enrichment, yet they flout the treaty’s safeguards. By claiming this ‘right,’ they try to make certain core issues non-negotiable. By this logic, they should get to retain enrichment capacity. So, the questions then become how much and what the U.S. has to give in return for this supposed sacrifice by Iran.

“As the Non-Proliferation Treaty’s name indicates, it’s an agreement to prevent proliferation, not to promote nuclear development.”

Stricker said Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, recently said, “It’s fiction that the NPT specifically mentions ‘enrichment’ in its peaceful uses clause. Moreover, the prevailing legal demand from the U.N. Security Council is that Iran stop enriching and come back into compliance with its nonproliferation obligations.

For nearly 25 years, the IAEA has been unable to conclude that all of Iran’s nuclear material and activities are devoted to peaceful uses.”

She added that “Iran’s enrichment program began through illicit procurements and covert facilities, under a nuclear weapons program that planned to use enriched uranium as fuel. Iran was clearly stockpiling material for an apparent nuclear weapons breakout.”

Breaking: Trump’s Update on White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting Incident Involving Secret Service Agent

DC Police chief confirms shooter had multiple guns and knives

Interim Chief Jeffrey Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department reported that Cole Thomas Allen, the 31-year-old suspect, allegedly tried to smuggle several weapons into the well-secured White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

During a press briefing, Carroll revealed that Allen was found in possession of a shotgun, a handgun, and an array of knives.

“Currently, it seems he acted alone as a solo gunman, and there doesn’t appear to be any ongoing threat to the public,” he stated.

Chief Carroll mentioned that the investigation is still in its early stages, making it difficult to determine Allen’s motives or who his intended targets might have been.

It is believed by investigators that the suspect had been staying at the hotel, which may have facilitated his access to the venue during the event.

Carroll said the suspect was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, but he was not struck by gunfire.

Timberwolves Triumph Over Nuggets Amid Ejections of Nikola Jokic and Julius Randle

0

MINNEAPOLIS — In a dazzling display of talent, Ayo Dosunmu dropped a career-high 43 points, stepping up significantly after injuries sidelined both Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo. His stellar performance marked the highest-scoring playoff effort by a bench player in five decades, propelling the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 112-96 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.

This triumph handed the Timberwolves a commanding 3-1 series lead. The game concluded with drama as Denver’s Nikola Jokic and Minnesota’s Julius Randle were ejected following a heated exchange. The tension arose when Jaden McDaniels made an inconsequential layup with just 2.1 seconds remaining, prompting Jokic to confront McDaniels near the Timberwolves’ bench.

Before the ejections stole the spotlight, Dosunmu’s performance was the talk of the night. His 43 points off the bench were the most since Fred Brown tallied 45 for Seattle in a playoff game against Phoenix on April 15, 1976.

With this victory, the Timberwolves have now won three consecutive games and stand poised to clinch the series in Game 5, set to take place in Denver on Monday.

Dosunmu’s sharp shooting was on full display as he hit 13 of 17 shots, including a flawless 5 for 5 from three-point range, and successfully converted all 12 of his free throws. His outstanding contribution surpassed expectations since being traded from Chicago in February.

Naz Reid had 17 points and nine rebounds for Minnesota, while Randle added 15 points and nine boards.

Jamal Murray led Denver with 30 points. Jokic added 24 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists for the Nuggets, who were just 6 for 27 (22%) from beyond the arc.

The Nuggets led by seven in the third quarter before the Timberwolves used their defense to get back into the game. Bones Hyland and Dosunmu scored breakaway layups on consecutive possessions after Minnesota forced the Nuggets to turn it over near halfcourt.

Randle added a steal and fast-break dunk to put the Wolves up by four after three quarters.

Dosunmu had another steal and layup as part of a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter that gave Minnesota a 95-82 lead.

The basket that pushed the lead into double digits was a 3-pointer by 38-year-old Mike Conley, who played 20 minutes while filling in for DiVincenzo and Edwards.

Trump Halts Witkoff and Kushner’s Pakistan Visit to Prioritize Iran Ceasefire Discussions

0

In brief

  • Donald Trump has cancelled his envoys’ weekend visit to Pakistani capital.
  • Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi says he has yet to see if US is “truly serious about diplomacy”.

President Donald Trump decided to call off a planned visit by his envoys to Pakistan, where they were scheduled to engage in peace discussions with Iran. Trump explained that he saw little value in “sitting around talking about nothing,” although he noted that this decision does not signal an immediate return to conflict.

Trump announced the cancellation after expressing dissatisfaction with Iran’s initial negotiation stance. Interestingly, following his decision to cancel, a revised and improved proposal from Tehran was presented within minutes.

“They handed us a document that could have been better,” Trump remarked to the press, “and — notably — just 10 minutes after I called it off, we received a much-improved version.” He did not provide further details on the contents of the new proposal.

The White House had previously stated that Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, along with special envoy Steve Witkoff, were set to travel to Pakistan with the aim of progressing towards an agreement with Iran. However, Trump later informed Fox News that he had decided to cancel the trip.

“We hold all the leverage,” Trump conveyed to his team. “They can reach out whenever they want, but we’re not embarking on any more long flights just to engage in fruitless conversations.”

Asked separately whether the cancellation meant a return to hostilities, Trump said: “No, it doesn’t mean that. We haven’t thought about it yet.”

Shortly beforehand, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi wrapped up a visit to Islamabad after meeting Pakistan’s military chief Asim Munir, a key mediator, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and foreign minister Ishaq Dar.

Iran said Araghchi had left for Muscat and would return to Pakistan after meetings in Oman before travelling on to Russia for talks on ending the war launched by the United States and Israel on 28 February.

Araghchi described his Pakistan trip as “very fruitful” but signalled scepticism over Washington’s intentions.

“Have yet to see if the US is truly serious about diplomacy,” he said.

Even before Trump’s move, prospects for talks were uncertain, with Iranian state television saying Araghchi had no plans to meet US officials and that Islamabad would act as a conduit for proposals.

Sharif said he had spoken to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to facilitating “durable peace”.

Pezeshkian told Sharif in a phone call that Tehran would not enter “imposed negotiations” under threats or blockade, according to a statement from the Iranian government.

Pezeshkian said the US should first remove “operational obstacles”, including its blockade on Iranian ports, to be able to create a groundwork to resolve issues.

Hormuz blockade deepens

Pressure to end the war has intensified as the Strait of Hormuz — a vital oil and gas route — remains closed.

But Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards said they had no intention of lifting their blockade, which has roiled energy markets.

“Controlling the Strait of Hormuz and maintaining the shadow of its deterrent effects over America and the White House’s supporters in the region is the definitive strategy of Islamic Iran,” the Guards said on their official Telegram channel.

The United States has imposed a blockade of Iranian ports in retaliation.

In a statement carried by state media, Iran’s military warned that continued US “blockading, banditry and piracy” would draw a response.

Efforts to resume US-Iran talks have stalled, with Tehran refusing to engage while the naval blockade remains. Iran has allowed only limited shipping through the strait.

Israel strikes Lebanon again amid ceasefire

On the war’s Lebanese front, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered strikes in Lebanon amid a ceasefire that was extended earlier this week.

Lebanese state media reported Israeli attacks in at least four locations in the south — a pair of strikes in quick succession in a town in Bint Jbeil district, another on a town in Tyre district, and strikes on two more towns in Nabatieh district.

The strikes in Nabatieh and Bint Jbeil killed six people, according to the health ministry.

Israel’s military claimed it “eliminated” three Hezbollah operatives who were driving “a vehicle loaded with weapons” as well as another one riding a motorcycle, and two more armed members of the group elsewhere.

Trump had announced the three-week truce extension on Friday and voiced optimism about peace after meeting Israeli and Lebanese envoys.

But Mohammed Raad, the head of the parliamentary bloc for Hezbollah, urged Lebanon to withdraw from talks and warned any deal would lack national consensus.

Boost Your Arm Strength: Top 5 Morning Exercises for Men Over 55 to Enhance Muscle Growth

0

Everyday activities demand a fair amount of arm strength, even for the simplest tasks.

Attention men over 55: you might not realize it, but as you age, maintaining arm strength becomes crucial. Natural muscle decline, known as sarcopenia, combined with reduced hormone levels and a less active lifestyle, can weaken your arms. This stage of life emphasizes the importance of strong arms to maintain independence. Engaging in daily activities, such as swinging a golf club or lifting grocery bags, all require robust arm muscles.

To gain insights on improving arm strength, we consulted Rob Moal, CPT from Train Like Rob. Based in Vancouver, BC, Moal brings over two decades of experience in strength training, fat loss, and pain-free movement. His credentials include certifications in personal training, nutrition, TRX, FMS, CAFS (Grey Institute), kettlebell training, corrective exercise, Twist Conditioning, and CrossFit. He specializes in enhancing strength, mobility, and recovery for those over 35.

Moal advises prioritizing grip and forearm exercises, as these areas tend to weaken fastest after 55. As he explains, the strength of your arm curl is directly linked to your grip strength.

Moal encourages you to focus on your grip and forearms first. After all, they decline the quickest after 55. As he puts it, your curl is only as strong as your grip strength.

“Triceps second. They make up roughly two-thirds of the arm and are the most visually impactful, but most men underwork them because pushing activity naturally decreases with age,” Moal adds. “The rear delt and rotator cuff are the most important for shoulder longevity. Build those, and the whole arm functions better. Biceps hold on longer than most because daily tasks keep them somewhat stimulated passively. They still need direct work, but they’re not the priority most guys treat them as.”

Below, Moal shares five exercises men over 55 should do each morning to build arm muscle. They’re easy to add to your routine, and this small commitment will go a long way in living an active, independent lifestyle.

Rope Cable Tricep Pushdowns

“The rope cable pushdown keeps the shoulder in a neutral position with no overhead stress. By 55, most guys have some shoulder history and skull crushers and overhead extensions aren’t worth the risk,” Moal tells us.

  1. Attach a rope to a cable machine’s high pulley.
  2. Stand facing the cable machine with your feet shoulder-distance apart, and take hold of the rope using a neutral grip—palms facing each other.
  3. Keep your elbows close to the sides of your body and begin with your forearms bent to roughly 90 degrees.
  4. Press the rope downward by extending your elbows until your arms are completely straight, separating the rope ends at the bottom of the movement to promote further tricep engagement.
  5. Hold at the bottom for a moment before using control to return to the start position.

Farmer’s Carry

“The farmer carry is there because grip and forearm strength decline the fastest with age, and it’s the most functional thing you can do for overall arm strength and longevity,” Moal points out.

  1. Hold a heavy dumbbell or kettlebell—50% of your body weight—in each hand at your sides.
  2. Start walking forward, keeping your torso still.
  3. Continue to walk for the prescribed distance or time.

Zottman Curls

“The Zottman curl hits the biceps, brachialis, and forearms in one movement with a slow eccentric that builds muscle without a heavy load,” Moal says.

  1. Begin standing tall with your feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand by your sides with your palms facing forward.
  2. Activate your core and keep your elbows close to your sides.
  3. Curl the dumbbells up toward your shoulders.
  4. At the top of the movement, rotate your wrists so your palms face down.
  5. Slowly lower the dumbbells.
  6. At the bottom, rotate your wrists so your palms face up.

Lying Side Lateral Raises

“The lying side lateral raise eliminates momentum and removes the impingement risk of standing variations,” Moal explains.

  1. Begin by lying on your side on a mat, with your bottom arm supporting your head.
  2. Hold a lightweight dumbbell in your top hand, with your arm resting along your side.
  3. Stack your shoulders and hips.
  4. Lift your top arm up toward the sky in a lateral motion, maintaining a slight bend in that elbow.
  5. Hold at the top for a moment.
  6. Use control to lower.
  7. Repeat on the other side.

Rear Delt Machine Fly With Protraction

“The rear delt machine fly with protraction at the end of the movement activates the rear delt fully through a fixed path. The rear delt and rotator cuff atrophy fast after 55, and most people never train them directly,” Moal notes.

  1. Begin sitting tall, facing the machine with your chest against the pad.
  2. Make sure the handles are set so your arms begin slightly ahead of your chest with a soft bend in the elbows.
  3. Press your arms slightly forward, gently rounding your upper back as you do so.
  4. Once you achieve the forward reach, use control to sweep your arms out wide in a reverse fly motion, squeezing your shoulder blades.
  5. Gradually return forward.

Accused Cop Killer Removed from Courtroom Following Disruptive Outburst

Inset: Officer Mohamed Said (Melvindale Police Department). Background: Michael Lopez appears in Wayne County court (WJBK/YouTube).

During a courtroom session in Michigan, a man accused of murdering a police officer unleashed a tirade against his lawyer, resulting in him being barred from attending his trial in person.

Michael Lopez, aged 45, stands accused of the murder of 26-year-old Melvindale Police Corporal Mohamed Said. He is facing multiple charges including the murder of a police officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, and various drug-related offenses, as reported by Detroit’s NBC affiliate, WDIV.

The incident occurred on July 21, 2024, around 11:30 a.m., when Officer Said was on patrol and noticed two individuals, one being Lopez, with bags near a car wash, according to Melvindale Police Chief Robert Kennaley. As Officer Said approached to investigate, Lopez reportedly took off running.

Officer Said managed to catch up with Lopez in a nearby neighborhood, leading to a physical altercation between the two, as per the police chief. It was during this encounter that Lopez is alleged to have shot the officer, resulting in his death.

Authorities reported that Lopez fled the scene on a bicycle. A large-scale search operation was launched, and a tip eventually led law enforcement to a residence in southwest Detroit, where Lopez was apprehended.

As Law&Crime previously reported, Lopez smiled and winked for the cameras recording him as officers took him into custody.

On Friday, as he appeared in court, Lopez was warned that he would be removed from the courtroom if he had an outburst like he did the day before, the local outlet reported. He apparently did not heed the warning.

When his attorney did not raise an objection to a video being admitted into evidence, Lopez responded indignantly.

“What else is new, man? What else is new? You ain’t gonna object?” Lopez said. “You’re not gonna help me fight, are you?”

The defendant was escorted out of the room and moved to a cell in the court building where he will listen to his trial, authorities said.

On Thursday, Lopez reportedly said he was firing his attorney, though the judge denied the request.

“I’m telling you that this guy doesn’t care about my life no more,” the defendant said. “He ain’t my lawyer no more.”
