Ex-North Carolina Cop Arrested in Chilling Plot to Attack New Orleans Festival

0

A former police officer from North Carolina has been apprehended in Florida, following allegations that he intended to execute a mass shooting at a music festival in New Orleans.

Christopher Gillum, aged 45 and hailing from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was detained by authorities at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday at a hotel located in Destin, Florida, as confirmed by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

According to officials, Gillum was sought after for issuing “terroristic threats” and was suspected of planning to travel to New Orleans for the purpose of carrying out a mass shooting at a festival.

During the investigation, law enforcement discovered a handgun and nearly 200 rounds of ammunition in his hotel room.

Authorities said they tracked and arrested a suspect at a Florida hotel after learning of an alleged plan to carry out a mass shooting

The arrest took place after authorities were tipped off about the alleged plot to perpetrate a mass shooting at an event in New Orleans, leading to the suspect’s location and arrest in a Florida hotel. (Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office)

Gillum’s family reported him missing Tuesday, telling authorities he had a history of self-harm and had made threats to harm “Black people,” according to a police bulletin from Burlington, North Carolina.

Lt. Clint Lyons of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said Gillum left the state before authorities could initiate an involuntary commitment, adding there were no legal grounds to detain him at the time.

Earlier Wednesday, Gillum was stopped by law enforcement in Okaloosa County but was released because he did not meet criteria for arrest or commitment, according to the bulletin.

Deputies later conducted surveillance after learning he was under investigation and arrested him once a warrant was issued from Louisiana, authorities said.

Gillum is expected to be extradited to Louisiana to face charges, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities did not name the event, but the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival — known as Jazz Fest — runs through May 3 and draws hundreds of thousands of attendees annually. Louisiana State Police said “there are no known direct threats” to any festivals in the state.

Gillum served as a sworn police officer in Chapel Hill from 2004 until his resignation in 2019, according to a town spokesperson.

He later worked as a police officer in Carolina Beach from October 2019 to October 2020, then became a detention officer with the Orange County, North Carolina, Sheriff’s Office in October 2023, leaving in July 2024.

Hailey Bieber and Dakota Johnson made a striking entrance at the star-studded TIME100 Gala on Thursday night in New York City.

Hosted annually at Jazz at Lincoln Center, this distinguished event celebrates individuals featured in the magazine’s 2026 lineup of the 100 most influential figures globally.

Johnson is among the esteemed artists, visionaries, and icons recognized this year, with an exclusive interview by Time’s 2023 Person of the Year, Taylor Swift.

Bieber, a former honoree from the 2023 list, graced the vibrant red carpet in a shimmering silver lace dress that accentuated her toned physique.

The form-fitting ensemble featured delicate straps and a subtle train that elegantly draped along the floor.

The wife of Justin Bieber, who recently lashed out at online trolls, wore her dirty blonde hair down and opted for her signature natural glam makeup look.

Bieber’s appearance at the event comes just days after she supported Justin at the final weekend of his Coachella takeover, which saw him earn a whopping $10 million as the festival’s headliner along with Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G.

Bieber was front row for both of her husband’s headlining sets, which included surprise appearances by Billie Eilish, SZA and Big Sean.

Justin was absent from Thursday’s TIME100 Gala, leaving Bieber to walk the event’s red carpet solo.

Johnson was among the first to arrive to the star-studded event in a low-cut light gray gown with a glamorous cape featuring vine-like jeweled embroidery on the collar.

The actress, 36, wore her signature fringe and the rest of her brunette hair was styled in effortless waves that fell down her back.

As for her makeup, Johnson, who is the daughter of Hollywood icons Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, wore brown smoky eyeshadow and a peach-toned lip.

Johnson posed for photos with Bieber as well as pop sensation JENNIE.

The duo shared a giggle in front of photographers as well as a warm hug.

Like Johnson, JENNIE is among the artists being honored by TIME in 2026. She was interviewed by fellow musician Gracie Abrams about her meteoric rise from K-pop group icon to solo superstar.

For her red carpet stint, JENNIE sizzled in a black strapless dress with a sheer bodice that flashed her tummy.

Nikki Glaser, who is the event’s host and appears on the TIME100 list as an innovator, stunned in a flowing baby blue gown with a stomach cutout that put her toned abs on display.

The comedian, 41, carried a matching glitter clutch and she wore her silky blonde hair in soft curls.

Glaser twirled her gown for the cameras so she could show it off from every angle.

Knicks’ Game 3 Heartbreak: Key Performers Shine and Struggle in Loss to Hawks

0

Key moments and players from the Knicks’ narrow 109-108 defeat to the Hawks in Thursday night’s Game 3 clash in Atlanta:

Hero

CJ McCollum was mostly quiet in the second half, scoring just seven points. However, it was his final two points that proved decisive, as he nailed the game-winning shot for Atlanta.

During the first half, McCollum was instrumental in building the Hawks’ lead, contributing 16 points to their effort. Notably, this time around, the arena was free from any “F–k you, CJ” chants from the crowd.

Zero

While McCollum’s performance may not have been his most dazzling, he delivered when it counted in the postseason.

On the other hand, Mikal Bridges faced a tough night. He was sidelined for the last 9:48 of the third quarter due to defensive struggles and an inability to score. Although he made a brief return in the fourth quarter, he was benched again with 9:25 remaining in the game.

Unsung hero

After managing just 14 points and only nine shots in Game 2, OG Anunoby poured in 19 points in the second half to finish with a team-high 29.

It didn’t matter in the end, but this is the blueprint for Anunoby.

Key stat

2: The combined points from Bridges and Josh Hart — two of the Knicks starters. Hart only scored on a dunk with 7:35 remaining.

Craig Melvin’s Heartwarming ‘Bring Your Kids to Work Day’ Moment with Son Delano Lights Up TODAY Show

Craig Melvin enjoyed a memorable “Bring Your Kids to Work Day” on Thursday, April 23, as he welcomed a very special guest to the Today show.

The co-anchor was joined by his 12-year-old son, Delano, during the morning broadcast. Seated alongside Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer, Delano got a taste of the action during the 3rd Hour roundtable discussion.

“Delano woke up very early this morning,” Melvin commented with a smile as his son made his on-air appearance, rolling into the segment on a chair.

Though Delano quickly adapted to the studio environment, Melvin had to gently intervene when his son began spinning in his chair, reminding him to focus on the cameras.

“No, son, the cameras,” Melvin advised, repositioning his chair. “You’ve got to pay attention.”

“No, son, you’ve got to… the cameras,” Melvin said, adjusting his chair. “You’ve got to pay attention.”

Roker jumped in with a quick response, telling Melvin, “He’s just doing what you do,” which got a laugh from the table.

Later, Delano got the chance to read from the prompter and help announce the winners of a pet naming contest.

Delano went on to read out one of the winning names, a cat called “Cheddar Big Booty Cheeseburger,” which led to another joke from Roker.

“That’s what we call your dad!”

Melvin laughed it off, telling his son, “Don’t encourage Mr. Roker.”

Delano then shared that he came up with the name for the family dog, Miles. “Miles Garrett was a good football player at the time, so I decided to name him Miles Garrett,” he explained.

When asked what he planned to do with the rest of his day off, Delano paused before answering, “Uhhhh,” which led Melvin to respond, “Great, we missed school for this.”

Delano wrapped up his appearance by reading a tease about tips for getting “your dad to raise your allowance,” but Melvin quickly shut that idea down.

“That’s not happening,” he said, before giving his son a high-five.

Melvin shares Delano and his younger sister, Sybil, with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak.

Respected Educator ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Faces Serious Allegations of Student Misconduct

0

A former private school teacher, once affectionately known as “Mr. Wonderful,” is now facing serious charges of rape involving two of his former students. The allegations have cast a shadow over the reputation he once held.

Matthew Rutledge, 64, appeared in Berkshire Superior Court located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, where he was arraigned on three counts of rape. The charges were brought forward by Melissa Fares, 33, and Hilary Simon, 39, who claim that their former teacher abused them during their time at Miss Hall’s School. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred over a span of ten years, from 2000 to 2010. Rutledge has entered a plea of not guilty.

The accusations detail a harrowing pattern of grooming and repeated abuse, as outlined in statements from the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office. These statements paint a troubling picture of Rutledge’s actions during his tenure at the school.

In a poignant statement released by the District Attorney’s Office, Fares expressed the deep-seated impact of these events on her life. “For a long time, I was living inside trauma without fully understanding it,” she revealed. “It was over the last several years that I began piecing together the truth of what happened to me: that Matt Rutledge had used me, abused me, and raped me. That I had been groomed and threatened into silence by a serial predator. That my youth wasn’t my youth at all.”

Simon said she was 15 years old when Rutledge first began “grooming” her, and that the abuse “continued for years” after she left campus.

“I fought this privately for 20 years,” her statement read. “I have been fighting it publicly for two. Before any of this, I was just a normal person. A lawyer. A wife and a mother. A woman trying to build a life on top of something I had buried. And then Melissa Fares called. I did not know Melissa. I picked up the phone, and I told her I had been waiting for that call for 20 years.”

According to NBC, citing a report prepared for Miss Hall’s School, Rutledge allegedly called out “Make way for Mr. Wonderful” as he moved through the hallways.

Fares and Simon said they discovered in 2024 that they had similar accounts of Rutledge’s alleged abuse and decided to pursue charges together.

Despite their allegations, the district attorney’s office at the time declined to move forward with the case, citing Massachusetts’ age of consent law at the time, which allowed for an adult to have sex with a person over the age of 16, according to the women.

The two women then pushed for legislation to close what they called a “legal loophole” and make it illegal for a teacher to have sex with a student.

Rutledge is now charged under separate rape statutes. Prosecutors have not publicly detailed what led to the decision to charge Rutledge.

Rutledge was indicted by the District Attorney’s office last month.

Speaking at a press conference following the arraignment, Fares claimed to reporters that Miss Hall’s School was aware of Rutledge’s alleged behavior.

“Miss Hall’s School knew,” she said. “This whole school knew. They enabled a culture of abuse for decades. They failed us, our families and every girl trusted them to protect her. They must also be held accountable.”

Miss Hall’s School said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital that it is cooperating with authorities and acknowledged the impact on its community.

“Wednesday’s arraignment was an important and painful moment for our community,” the school said. “We will continue to cooperate fully with authorities. We are sorry for the harm that survivors have experienced and the impact on our community.”

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for June 18, according to WCVB.

Concerns Grow for David Hasselhoff’s Health as He Uses Walker for Support

0

David Hasselhoff, famed for his role in Baywatch, was seen navigating Los Angeles with the aid of a walker on Wednesday. Despite this, the iconic actor is reportedly planning a significant comeback once he fully recovers.

The 73-year-old actor, who was once the epitome of vitality as lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, appeared unsteady while exiting a building alongside his wife, 45-year-old Hayley Roberts.

A stark contrast to his beach-ready image, Hasselhoff opted for a casual look, wearing a sweatshirt and baseball cap, as he gingerly moved across the parking lot.

According to his representative speaking to the Daily Mail, Hasselhoff recently underwent both knee and hip replacement surgeries, which have evidently impacted his mobility.

Although a Baywatch reboot is in development, Hasselhoff has maintained a low profile, making only one public appearance since last July, which has left fans concerned.

However, an insider exclusively told the Daily Mail that the star is recovering and eyeing a major comeback.

‘He is rehabbing and wants to get back to doing a few acting gigs, and he wants to do more music and once he gets better and back to 100 percent, he intends to hit the ground running as one of his goals is to be on Baywatch again,’ the source explained.

‘He would love to make another appearance on the show, and getting better will get him there.’

As Hasselhoff continues his recovery, the source emphasized the adjustment he’s going through, saying: ‘For a man who has always been fit and very active and in shape, his recent surgeries have kicked his ass a bit more than he expected.’

‘Getting old sucks, and it’s catching up to him, but even though he recently looked frail, he’s actually feeling better than he has felt in a long time,’ they continued.

‘He’s healing and being outside is a relief and the perfect remedy for his current shortcomings.’

Just two weeks ago, the actor was seen on a nature hike with Roberts, relying on trekking poles for support.

Although his mobility is improving, Hasselhoff still appears to need some assistance from his wife.

In addition to supporting his arm, Roberts was also seen standing behind him at one point, seemingly steadying him with her hands placed on his sides.

Last July, Hasselhoff had been seen limping through an airport on his way to Cancun, revealing plans for knee surgery.

He was later seen being pushed in a wheelchair by an airline worker.

At the time, a source told the Daily Mail that the actor was ‘living on borrowed time’ after years of hard living.

Hasselhoff, who has faced struggles with alcohol abuse in the past, made headlines in 2007 when a video surfaced of his daughter, Taylor Ann, filming him intoxicated.

In the video, she expressed concern about his drinking affecting his role in a Las Vegas production of The Producers.

Following the video’s release, Hasselhoff explained that his daughter had recorded the footage intentionally, hoping to expose his behavior while drunk.

Just over a year ago, Hasselhoff lost his second wife and Baywatch co-star Pamela Bach to suicide at the age of 61.

Bach’s death was a devastating blow for the actor, who publicly thanked fans for their support during the difficult time.

Amid these personal and health challenges, Hasselhoff is determined to focus on his recovery and is optimistic about a potential return to the upcoming Baywatch series.

In September, Fox announced it would be ‘reimagining’ the beloved show, with a new generation of lifeguards and a 12-episode order for the 2026-2027 season.

The new show will follow Hobie Buchannon (originally played by Jeremy Jackson) as he steps into his father Mitch’s (Hasselhoff’s) iconic role as Baywatch captain.

But not all fans are thrilled about the reboot.

Many were disappointed to see that only Baywatch alum David Chokachi would be reprising his role, though Erika Eleniak has been spotted on set.

And when first-look photos and clips hit the internet, the criticism came fast, with fans calling it a derivative attempt to cash in on the original’s legacy.

The casting of social media influencers like Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader as the new lifeguards only fueled skepticism, with some feeling the reboot is more about Instagram fame than recapturing the iconic magic of the show.

Add to that the lingering memory of the 2017 Baywatch film, which flopped despite its star-studded cast, including Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, and it is no surprise many fans are holding their breath.

Still, Hasselhoff remains optimistic.

The insider told the Daily Mail that he was eager to lend a hand and help the reboot succeed – if given the chance.

He loves that the show is coming back and he hopes it has the same magic as the original, and if he can help get it there by appearing at some point, even better,’ the source said.

Future NFL Star Francis Mauigoa Sends Bold Message to Giants’ QB Jaxson Dart Ahead of 2026 Draft

0

In a bold statement of dedication, the Giants’ latest recruit, Francis Mauigoa, reached out to Jaxson Dart following his selection as the No. 10 overall pick by the team. The offensive tackle from Miami expressed his commitment to Dart in an interview with ESPN, saying, “I’m ready to die for you, man,” emphasizing his determination to protect his new teammate.

Mauigoa’s words come as a relief to Dart, who endured a challenging rookie season, being sacked 35 times and facing concussion-related issues due to his aggressive playing style. The Giants, recognizing the importance of safeguarding their quarterback, have made a strategic move to reinforce their offensive line under the new leadership of head coach John Harbaugh.

“I know a lot of things has happened, but I’m ready to die for you bro,” he said.

Dart was sacked 35 times during his rookie season and, due to his aggressive style, dealt with concussion issues.

Now, with one of their first picks in the John Harbaugh era, the Giants have opted to address the offensive line.

The pick that the Giants used to select Mauigoa was the one they acquired in the trade with the Bengals that sent Dexter Lawrence to Cincinnati.

Mauigoa is well known for his Samoan roots and is known to his friends and family as “Sisi.”

His heritage is also something he takes great pride in, addressing it while on ESPN after he was taken.

“Born and raised an American Samoan, never thought I’d be here,” he said when asked what his message was to his community. “If I can do it, you can do it. Simple as that.”

Mauigoa also wore an outfit that paid homage to his heritage, which he proudly sported on the NFL draft red carpet and had on when he went on stage after his name was called by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Going into the draft, it was unclear what the Giants would do, and general manager Joe Schoen admitted that the team took calls about trading the No. 5 overall pick.

Unveiled: Tucker Carlson’s Hidden Family Drama and the Heiress Sister He Claims Not to Know

0

It seems unlikely that Tucker Carlson had a childhood filled with TV dinners, but his half-sister claims he’s now vying for a slice of the Swanson family fortune.

Tucker, the former Fox News host with a significant net worth, finds himself in a heated dispute with his stepsister, Dr. Roberta ‘Bo’ Hunt. She contends that he is seeking a portion of the Swanson TV dinner legacy that she believes is not rightfully his, according to an exclusive report by the Daily Mail.

Although Tucker maintains he has no interest in the money, court documents list him as requesting $2,414 monthly from the estate. This legal entanglement adds a layer of intrigue to the family’s dynamics.

Hunt is the sole biological descendant of Patricia Swanson Carlson, an heiress of the Swanson frozen food empire known for its iconic 1950s foil-wrapped meals. Patricia became the adoptive mother to Tucker and his brother Buckley in 1979, blending the family together.

In response to inquiries from the Daily Mail about his stepsister, Tucker remarked, “I don’t really know who this person is,” highlighting the strained relationship within the family.

But we clearly touched a nerve. ‘She’s bonkers,’ claimed the 56-year-old former Fox News host, denying any knowledge of the legal wrangling.

For her part, Hunt, 61, a Georgia-based college professor, decided to step out of the shadows armed with a trove of family photos, financial records, and a legal complaint stating Tucker has been wrongfully receiving their late mother’s inheritance.

‘I’m not saying I hate him or that he’s a bad person,’ Hunt told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview. ‘I just want him to do what he knows is the right thing.’

‘The rest of my family don’t want Tucker lying and getting away with it because he is Tucker Carlson.’

Hunt’s lawsuit against the TV star boils down to a sibling squabble over less than $2,500 per month, marking an ignominious decline for the Swanson family, once revered in Nebraska for their success and philanthropy.

Hunt claimed in a 2024 legal complaint that Tucker and his brother Buckley have improperly received a total of $21,727 each from her mother’s trust since she died in 2023, arguing that the document written by her grandfather says the money should only go to blood descendants of the Swanson line, not adoptees.

The courtroom battle is being waged as Tucker is swiftly becoming one of the most divisive figures in Republican politics.

Last month, his longtime ally, President Donald Trump, told ABC News that ‘Tucker has lost his way.’ This week, Tucker responded by apologizing to voters for endorsing Trump’s re-election campaign in 2024.

With his legacy as a conservative thought leader under threat, Tucker now also faces an attack on his adoptive Swanson inheritance and the carefully constructed story of his upbringing.

The saga dates back to 1968 when Gilbert C Swanson, son of the TV dinner company’s founder and Hunt’s grandfather, set up a trust to pass on substantial wealth to his ‘lineal descendants’ in the belief he was encouraging his children towards committed family lives.

Instead, Gilbert, who died that year aged 62, set the scene for a family feud more than half a century later.

The Swansons’ holdings were estimated to be in excess of $100 million at the time, almost a billion dollars in today’s money, after the sale of their food business to Campbell’s Soup Company.

Their largesse was renowned in Nebraska – and executed with flair. For one ‘Hawaiian Evening’ gala thrown by Gilbert and his wife at the Omaha Country Club, they imported 70 tons of sand and live palm trees from the West Coast to transform the patio into a ‘beach’.

Thanks to their philanthropy, the family name adorns an Omaha public library, an elementary school and a Creighton University dormitory.

As a 1979 New York Times profile put it: if the Swansons were late for a flight, the plane waited.

So when 18-year-old daughter Patricia announced to her father that she had secretly married beau Howard Feldman, Gilbert felt the need to scramble to protect the family legacy.

He demanded his daughter sign over control of her inheritance to the family lawyers, then set up a trust that stipulated Swanson riches could only pass to grandchildren ‘born in lawful wedlock’, according to Hunt’s 2024 lawsuit.

The Carlson brothers’ entry to the Swanson family was a little more turbulent than ‘lawful wedlock’.

Tucker’s biological mother was an heiress herself: Lisa McNear Lombardi, born to a family that owned three million acres of ranch land across four states, with oil and gas rights.

After majoring in architecture at UC Berkeley, Lombardi met and married Tucker’s father, TV newsman Dick Carlson, and moved to Los Angeles, where she had the two boys.

There, seeking to pursue her career as a sculptor and distance herself from her privileged upbringing, she joined the entourage of renowned artist David Hockney.

‘She was more like a hippie, arty kind of person. I couldn’t ever imagine her being a mother,’ former West Coast editor of Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine Joan Quinn told Business Insider in 2022. ‘She was ill-content.’

Molly Barnes, who exhibited Lombardi’s work in the 1980s, remembered her as ‘bohemian’, ‘very ambitious’ and ‘someone who was fighting the establishment.’

According to Dick’s divorce filings, Lombardi also fell into ‘alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine abuse’ that ‘left her incapable of properly caring’ for the children.

Tucker put it succinctly in his father’s obituary: ‘His wife departed for Europe and didn’t return.’

In 1975, Dick got full custody of Tucker, then six, and Buckley, five, and moved to the affluent San Diego suburb La Jolla. Lombardi died of cancer in France in 2011, having never seen her sons again.

Once ensconced in La Jolla, the Carlson pad became the venue for high society dinner parties where future California Governor Pete Wilson and author Theodore Geisel – aka Dr Seuss – were regulars.

Two streets away lived Patricia, married by then to architect George Hunt, and their teenage daughter, Roberta.

Patricia had married George in the Swanson’s Omaha mansion aged 22, just a week after her father’s funeral in 1968.

But Hunt says her father left her mother after she and Tucker’s dad began an affair. Dick moved in with his two sons around 1977, leaving Hunt feeling like ‘an afterthought’ in the family throughout her teenage years. Patricia adopted the Carlson boys in 1979.

‘It was all about Dick Carlson and his boys,’ Hunt, a Georgia Military College professor, said. ‘Whenever anything would go wrong, I was always the one who got in trouble.’

Hunt said she and her new stepfather ‘never got along,’ and the ‘animosity’ strained her relationship with her mother.

‘She always took their side. Even being older, when they were married, it was always that they did no wrong,’ Hunt said.

She said Dick convinced Patricia to send her to Kents Hill boarding school in Maine in ninth grade. ‘As far away as you can possibly get.’

‘It was a toxic thing with him being involved,’ she said. ‘I think he married my mom for money, and I will die thinking that.’

Asked by the Daily Mail whether he grew up living in the same home as Hunt, Tucker took on an indignant tone, characteristic of his expressive on-screen persona, and replied: ‘No!’

‘I’ve had no contact with this person in more than 30 years,’ he added, claiming he last saw her ‘in the 1980s’, and that ‘I don’t know who this person is really.’

But a family photo from 1982 shows an 18-year-old Hunt on the night of her debutante ball, flanked by a grinning, suited Tucker and Buckley, her mother and their father beside them.

And other, much more recent pictures show Hunt and her children dining with Tucker and his family at an Easter brunch in Washington, DC, around 2008 and hanging out with Tucker’s wife at his home around 2010. She also shared with the Daily Mail a Christmas card she said she received in recent years from the former Fox host.

‘I don’t know why he would lie about it,’ Hunt said.

‘They must have amnesia, especially because I sent them these pictures about eight months ago.’

But she admitted that relations had been tense for decades.

Hunt claimed that on one occasion in the years before her mother’s death, Patricia and Buckley asked her and her cousins to sign papers that would confirm the inclusion of the Carlsons in the Swanson grandchildren’s trusts.

According to Hunt, the bad blood came to a head in 2023 when Dick allegedly failed to tell her that her mother had a stroke. Above, at Patricia's bedside in the hospital in 2023

‘They tried to get us to sign off that Tucker and Buckley were family,’ she said.

‘I got a cryptic text from my mother, saying, “Somebody’s going to call you from the bank, don’t worry about it, just sign it.”‘

‘I said, I’m not going to do that. That’s when things went downhill with Tucker and Buckley.’

Hunt said the bad blood came to a head in 2023 when Dick allegedly failed to tell her that her mother had a stroke.

Tucker’s father refused to reveal where the ailing Patricia was hospitalized, she claimed. Hunt said she resorted to hiring a private investigator to find out.

When her mother died days later, she claimed Dick also refused to schedule the funeral on a day other than her daughter’s graduation, forcing her to say goodbye to her mother in the morgue.

In the following months, she found the Carlsons were drawing thousands of dollars from her late mother’s trust, her lawsuit claims.

Hunt filed a legal complaint in Omaha, Nebraska, in September 2024, alleging Tucker and his brother Buckley have an ‘illegitimate claim’ to the Swanson wealth.

She alleges a trust established by her grandfather specifically bans inheritance by anyone other than blood relatives, excluding adopted family members.

And she makes it clear the lawsuit is personal, pointing out that the Carlsons never knew her grandfather, the source of the disputed legacy, while to her, he was ‘Big Poppa’.

‘He got me sick on pistachios, I used to sing to him,’ she said. ‘I was told I was his favorite.’

Tucker claims he has had nothing to do with the trust or the court case.

‘I have never taken a dollar of the money,’ he said. ‘I’m not involved in any way. I have never responded to anything.’

But filings from 2025, submitted on his behalf without a lawyer, acknowledged it is ‘true’ he received thousands a month from the trust.

Later filings say he and his brother hired attorneys who are taking the case to trial in August.

Tucker and his wife, Susie, have built a life far removed from the Swanson family's Omaha roots

Tucker and his wife, Susie, have built a life far removed from the Swanson family’s Omaha roots

Tucker’s filed answer to Hunt’s inheritance lawsuit last year claimed that she had been ‘specifically disinherited’ by her mother in a 2014 will, and that he and his brother are ‘permissible beneficiaries’ of the TV dinner cash.

Hunt agreed that she was not bequeathed anything in her mother’s will, but because she was ‘taken care of’ by her father’s side.

As the Omaha court case continues, it remains to be seen whether the Carlson brothers will keep their share of the Swanson money.

But either way, Hunt, a devout Christian, says each will ultimately receive what he is owed.

‘They can be mean,’ she said, ‘and when they die, that’s what they have to deal with, how they’ve conducted themselves on this earth.’

Corporate Employees Alerted to Impromptu Drug Screenings

In a significant move to address rising concerns, employers are intensifying their efforts to curb cocaine use among white-collar workers, following reports of nearly doubled detections of this illicit drug in Australian workplaces over the past year.

Positive workplace tests for the illegal party drug were up 45 per cent in the quarter ending March 31, according to the country’s largest drug testing agency.

According to industry expert Dobson, there was a noticeable increase in cocaine detection during the holiday season, followed by a slight decline. However, levels have not returned to their previous norms. “Year-over-year, we are seeing an uptick in detections across almost every state, suggesting the presence of a robust and persistent supply network,” Dobson noted.

Recent data from The Drug Detection Agency (TDDA) reveals that cocaine use has surged in all Australian states, with the exception of Western Australia. This information, gathered between January 1 and March 31, includes results from various types of testing such as pre-employment, post-incident, as well as regular and random screenings conducted in workplaces across the country.

Cocaine use has climbed in every state except Western Australia, according to tests compiled by TDDA between January 1 and March 31.

The data has been taken from pre-employment, post-incident, regular and random testing in Australian workplaces.

Detections of the drug were highest in South Australian workers, with an 128.2 per cent year-on-year increase, followed by Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

The use of amphetamine-type substances (ATS), including methamphetamine, is also up by 28.3 per cent.

The TDDA has urged employers to ramp up efforts to tackle drug use as a “priority” in light of the alarming statistics.

TDDA Drug Testing Services
TDDA chief executive Glenn Dobson warned that cocaine detection is no longer slowing down outside of typical holiday periods (TDDA Drug Testing Services)

“If a testing programme is not yet in place, or has not been reviewed for some time, addressing this should be a priority,” Dobson added.

“Employers are encouraged to strengthen measures specifically addressing those substances.

“Implementing a targeted testing programme including pre-employment, regular and random testing is one of the most effective tools for early warning and intervention.”

Dobson said cocaine detection can be prevalent among high-performing staff in leadership roles.

He described it as a “risk” to everyone in the workplace.

“Cocaine does not announce itself the way some other substances do,” Dobson said.

“Employees using cocaine may present as confident and high-performing, even as their judgement, concentration and impulse control are compromised.

“In workplaces where people operate heavy machinery, drive vehicles, or carry out safety-sensitive tasks, that is not just a risk to the individual. It is a risk to everyone around them.

“By the time the problem becomes visible, it may have already been present for some time.”

ICE Arrests Individuals Convicted of Child Sex Crimes and Drug Trafficking in Nationwide Operation

0

In a series of decisive enforcement operations coinciding with National Crime Victims Week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has apprehended several individuals convicted of serious offenses, such as sexual assault and drug trafficking, officials announced on Wednesday.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that these arrests specifically targeted individuals with previous convictions for serious crimes, including aggravated sexual assault, lewd acts with a minor, assault by strangulation, and the distribution of methamphetamine.

Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis emphasized the significance of these actions, stating, “During National Crime Victims Week, DHS continues its mission to secure justice for victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens. By removing these criminal elements from our communities, ICE prevents them from committing further offenses and creating more victims.”

The operations this week have been highlighted by officials, underscoring the importance and impact of these arrests.

One man, Carlos Portillo-Nunez of El Salvador, was previously convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child in Indio, California, according to DHS.

Pablo Blanco-Fortuna, an illegal alien from Mexico, was convicted of aggravated sexual assault and failing to register as a sex offender in Hidalgo, Texas, and Roberto Vallejo-Benitez, also from Mexico, was convicted of assault by strangulation in Wake County, North Carolina, officials said.

Guatemalan national Eladio Laines was previously convicted of sexual assault and unlawful restraint involving serious bodily injury in Chester, Pennsylvania, and Alfredo Delgado-Perez, another Mexican national, was convicted of distributing methamphetamine in Los Angeles.

The arrests come after the U.S. experienced historically high levels of illegal immigration in recent years.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded more than 2 million migrant encounters along the southern border in both fiscal years 2022 and 2023, according to DHS data, before declining in 2024.

The individuals arrested are from Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador, countries that have consistently accounted for a significant share of illegal border crossings in recent years, according to DHS encounter data.

ICE has said it prioritizes the arrest and removal of illegal aliens with prior criminal convictions, particularly those involving violence, sexual offenses and drug trafficking.

While DHS highlights arrests involving serious criminal offenses, such cases represent a small portion of the millions of illegal alien encounters recorded nationwide in recent years, based on CBP data.

The federal agency said the arrests were part of its broader efforts to remove individuals with criminal convictions from U.S. communities. It also pointed victims to its Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office for support services.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, DHS will never stop fighting for justice for the innocent Americans whose lives were stolen by illegal aliens who should have never been in our country,” Bis said.
