Melbourne Nightclub Responds to Criticism Over Anzac Day Event, Emphasizing Legality

0

A well-known nightclub has responded to criticism regarding its choice to organize and promote a dance event on Anzac Day.

La Di Da, in collaboration with another venue in Melbourne’s CBD, Club W, is set to host a “special event” this Saturday night, beginning at 10:30 PM and carrying on into the early morning hours.

An online flyer advertises a lineup featuring top DJs, MCs, and dancers, with ticket prices starting at $19.99.

The flyer boasts, “Bigger Venue. Bigger Crowd. One Night Only.”

In Victoria, licensed venues are allowed to operate on Anzac Day; however, they are restricted from selling alcohol between 3 AM and midday unless they have a special exemption, such as one for an authorized RSL event.

The nightclub event divided Aussies after 3AW broadcaster Tom Elliott questioned whether April 25 was the right occasion for it.

‘I don’t think a night at a nightclub and Anzac Day go very well together,’ he told listeners on Wednesday.

‘Anzac Day is a day of commemoration.

‘It is a day to remember our war dead and to honour who made the ultimate sacrifice in war.

‘It’s not a day to dance the night away at a nightclub.

‘Having said that, we have a football match on Anzac Day, so maybe the rules have changed.’

The AFL fixture between Essendon and Collingwood at the MCG has been an Anzac Day tradition for more than three decades.

Anzac Day is a day of remembrance observed in Australia and New Zealand, commemorating the anniversary of their military involvement in the Gallipoli campaign during World War I.

The day has since been expanded to honour all Australian and New Zealand military veterans who served in conflicts.

La Di Da has been inundated with abusive calls since the segment and issued an angry response when contacted by Daily Mail.

‘Every venue in Melbourne is permitted to trade on a Saturday night,’ a spokesman said.

‘Why single out our venue when every venue in Victoria is legally permitted to trade?

‘It’s ok for the AFL to host matches and sell liquor but it’s not ok for a small business?

‘Every venue is open, it’s legal.’

The event sparked a divided reaction online.

‘As the VP of an RSA ‘RSL’ in New Zealand, I’m 100 per cent behind Tom (Elliott) on this issue,’ one wrote.

‘Anzac Day is a day to remember those who served both our countries in global conflict of war.

‘Never have so many owed so much to those brave men and women of our armed services.’

Another added: ‘Disrespectful.’

A third wrote: ‘When the world is ‘at war’, we need a reminder of the consequences – human life.’

Not everyone agreed with 3AW broadcaster Tom Elliott's concerns about the event

But many others didn’t see an issue.

‘After a hard day marching, they will need a cold beer. Getting a bit precious I’m thinking,’ one commented.

Another added: ‘Nightclubs have been running Anzac Day events for as long as I can remember. This isn’t a new thing.’

A third wrote: ‘Does it matter what you do if you are at least acknowledging the day?’

Daily Mail contacted RSL Victoria and Club W for comment.

It comes after a nightclub in Far North Queensland copped online outrage for holding an X-rated event featuring explicit content on Anzac Day.

Townsville-based FLNDRS Bar & Nightclub encourages guests to dress up in sexy attire, offering R-rated gifts to the first 50 patrons through the door.

It doubled down by offering Australian Defence Force members free entry and VIP perks if they attend this Saturday night.

Shocking Concert Mishap: Renowned Conductor Drops £1 Million Violin Onstage

0

During a concert, a conductor inadvertently caused a rare violin to slip from a violinist’s hands.

Captured on video, Maestro Matthew Halls is seen energetically conducting his orchestra when his animated movements, combined with his baton, inadvertently struck the instrument, valued at £1 million, from the musician’s grasp.

The violinist, Elina Vahala, emitted a startled scream, instinctively covering her face with her hands, as the violin flipped thrice in the air before landing on the floor with a thud.

In utter disbelief, she gazed down at the prized violin, crafted by the renowned GB Guadagnini, which lay upside down on the stage.

Despite the mishap, the orchestra continued playing until Halls signaled a halt. Meanwhile, Vahala, donning a long black gown, bent down to carefully retrieve the violin, as her fellow musicians looked on with concern.

Following a tense two-minute interval, Ms Vahala continued playing Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No 1.

The violin endured little damage from the incident in Lahti’s Sibelius Hall, helped by Ms Vahala breaking its fall with her foot.

The 50-year-old described playing the last chord of the piece’s section and ‘released [her] grip ever so slightly’, causing the violin to flip three times in the air.

This left the violin with no cracks or scratches, while revealing Ms Vahala’s quick reflexes, as the violinist said: ‘My Guadagnini is perfectly fine!’

She continued: ‘The glue between the top and the ribs gave in, as it’s supposed to do, in order to protect the top and the back from cracking during humidity changes.

‘Or as we discovered, from an impact. The guardian angel of old Italian instruments was present.’

The show was the first time the violinist and Mr Halls played together.

Ms Vahala, who was born in the US and raised in Finland, and made her orchestral debut aged 12. Max Bruch’s violin concerto is one of the most popular violin concertos for a solo violin piece.

She said she hopes to work with Mr Halls again, adding: ‘We definitely share an intense memory together!’

She continued: ‘I am happy that we managed to finish the concerto despite the scary interruption. The audience was breathing every second with us with full attention! What an evening.’

Mr Halls described having the ‘great joy’ of ‘conducting the Bruch violin concerto many times over the years’, adding this one will be one he will ‘certainly never forget’.

In commemoration for Ms Vahala, he said: ‘Words cannot adequately express my admiration for this remarkable artist, who gave a blistering account before and after the “YouTube” incident.

‘Thank you Elina Vahala for being a wonderful friend and colleague, and thank you Signor Guadagnini for your superior craftsmanship.

‘All’s well that ends well.’

Tragic Incident: Stepfather Allegedly Kills Stepdaughter Over Manners Dispute, Say Police

A Florida man, aged 64, faces charges for allegedly murdering his stepdaughter following what began as an ordinary kitchen encounter. The tragic incident unfolded in the presence of the victim’s mother.

James Pelzer has been charged with one count of dangerous and depraved murder without premeditation in the death of Alanda Cuffee, according to court documents filed over the weekend.

As detailed in a probable cause affidavit, deputies from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home on the 2500 block of Gulf Breeze Avenue at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Authorities noted that Pelzer himself made the 911 call after the shooting occurred.

Upon their arrival, officers found Pelzer outside the residence, where he surrendered without resistance. During his arrest, Pelzer reportedly confessed to deputies, saying, “I messed up. I messed up bad.” He also indicated the location of the firearm, allegedly stating it was placed on top of a Bible near the front door inside the home.

Inside the house, emergency responders discovered Cuffee lying on the floor, “unconscious and unresponsive,” surrounded by a pool of blood from multiple gunshot wounds. She was declared dead at the scene.

In an interview with investigators, the victim’s mother said she was in the kitchen with her daughter when Pelzer entered and “tried to walk around Cuffee.”

“[Cuffee’s mother] stated that she then told Cuffee to move out of the way for James Pelzer, at which point Cuffee stated, ‘Well, Mama, he could say excuse me,’” investigators wrote in the affidavit. “[Cuffee’s mother] stated that James Pelzer did not respond and walked back to his bedroom. [Cuffee’s mother] stated that she observed James Pelzer walk out of the bedroom with a ‘short and black’ handgun in his hand and fired approximately four to five rounds at Cuffee.”

Sheriff Chip Simmons summed up the situation to the Pensacola News Journal as follows:

“The stepfather was ultimately charged and arrested with shooting and killing his stepdaughter. It was about movement inside the house, whether one could walk around without bumping into the other.”

Immediately after the shooting, the mother said, Pelzer did not appear to regret his actions.

“I asked [the mother] if James Pelzer had said anything before he shot Cuffee, to which she answered, ‘no,’” the affidavit states. “[Cuffee’s mother] stated that the only thing James Pelzer said was for her to ‘be quiet’ when she began to pray out loud over Cuffee.”

After allegedly stating that he had “messed up,” authorities said Pelzer refused to answer questions and requested a lawyer.

Inside the home, authorities recovered a small black Ruger .380 handgun, along with its empty magazine and a round of ammunition.

The victim’s mother also told investigators that Pelzer had a history of anger issues and had previously threatened to “use his gun” during other incidents, though she said he had never been physically violent toward her or her daughter before the shooting.

Pelzer is currently being held in the Escambia County Jail without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 8.

Bristol, VA Political Leaders Respond to Redistricting Vote Results

Gates Foundation Announces Major Workforce Reduction Amid Epstein Connection Investigation

0

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is set to reduce its workforce by up to 500 employees, amounting to around 20% of its current staff, as part of a strategic long-term reorganization. This announcement coincides with an ongoing external review concerning the foundation’s previous connections with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, a memo was circulated to staff on Tuesday. A spokesperson for the Gates Foundation confirmed to Fox News Digital that this external review was initially communicated to all employees via email last month and has been endorsed by both the board and Bill Gates himself. However, the foundation has not clarified whether these job reductions are related to the review.

The decision to cut jobs was first mentioned earlier in the year during the foundation’s budget discussions. Meanwhile, the review has intensified public interest regarding the foundation’s historical dealings with Epstein and its processes for evaluating potential partnerships, prompting broader inquiries into the governance of one of the leading philanthropic entities globally.

“Earlier this year, our CEO, Mark Suzman, initiated an external review to evaluate the foundation’s previous interactions with Epstein and to scrutinize our current protocols for establishing and nurturing new philanthropic collaborations,” a statement from the foundation noted. “This review is currently in progress, and we anticipate that both the board and management will receive an update by this summer.”

The Gates Foundation also informed Fox News Digital that the decision to downsize its workforce was originally disclosed in a press release issued in January.

The organization also said employees were informed about the job cuts during discussions of its 2026 budget in a January press release.

“This cap will reduce the foundation’s current headcount target of 2,375 positions by up to 500 positions by 2030, with targets and timelines to be calibrated on an annual basis,” the press release said.

The Gates Foundation was founded by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his ex-wife, Melinda Gates.

The review comes as renewed attention has been placed on Epstein’s connections. In February, the Department of Justice released more than 3 million of Epstein’s investigative records, including personal emails. Bill Gates’ name appeared in the emails, which reportedly indicated he had affairs while married to Melinda Gates and sought medication to treat a sexually transmitted infection without her knowledge.

Gates later reportedly acknowledged having two affairs that Epstein was aware of but said neither involved Epstein’s victims.

“I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit,” Gates said, according to a town hall recording reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Kanye West Issues Public Apology to Ciara Following Amanda’s Accusations of Disrespect

Relationships can vary significantly in terms of their development, and nowhere is this more evident than in the latest episode of Summer House. On one hand, we have KJ and Dara, who decide to make their relationship official despite KJ’s earlier intention to take things slow. Their rapid progression stands in stark contrast to other couples in the house.

Summer House Recap: Ciara Grapples with Her Feelings Toward West; KJ and Dara Make it Official; Plus, West Apologizes, Claiming He Sees Ciara

Meanwhile, Mia and her boyfriend, Scott, seem to have barely spent an entire weekend together, hinting at a rather casual pace. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there’s Kyle and Amanda, whose relationship seems far from idyllic, leaving viewers to question its future. The dynamic between West and Ciara is especially compelling, as Ciara courageously takes West out of jail and extends a hand of friendship.

Ciara’s emotional revelation that she feels invisible to West strikes a chord, and Amanda steps in to offer comfort, reminding Ciara that she deserves far more respect than she’s currently receiving—a moment both touching and uncomfortable to watch.

After a wild night in Vegas, the group heads to the club to cheer on DJ Kyle as he takes to the turntables. Back at home, a tipsy Kyle expresses gratitude to Amanda for attending his set. While one might expect this from a supportive spouse, given the tensions in their relationship, it feels like a small victory for him.

The crew rallies after their Vegas party and head to the club to listen to DJ Kyle spin some beats. Once home, Kyle drunkenly thanks Amanda for attending his session, which is something a wife would normally do, but considering the state of their relationship, it was a real treat for him.

The last two weeks Mia has started to dream about her parents a lot and it’s been really hard on her. Mia explains that she has just been doing what she has to do to survive, but she knows deep down, her mom would want her to THRIVE. The thought of speaking with a medium keeps gnawing at her…

The next morning, Dara explains that the girls have been great towards her relationship with KJ so far. KJ shares that he has never liked a girl this much, but has been hurt in the past so he does have a wall up.

Dara checks in on Ciara and shares that last night, West got obliterated and could only talk about Ciara and what happened at the Vegas party re: making out with another girl. Dara states that she is “really mad” at West.  Now West claims he “feels bad” since his main objective is not to hurt Ciara’s feelings (well, he certainly failed at that…). He knows he has ruined it by making out with someone he has never met before, so he decides to apologize.

He goes to Ciara’s room and says he is sorry for being a sh*tty friend to her. He claims he is personally bummed since they were making progress on a friendship level. Ciara never wanted to be friends to begin with and advises him that it’s best that they are just not friends.

West states he is closer to her than anyone in the house and wishes he could take things back. West tells Ciara he does not want to pretend he doesn’t know her, but Ciara makes it clear she doesn’t have much to offer him otherwise. It’s truly bizarre West had this vulnerable conversation with Ciara, yet goes and dates Amanda!

The gang packs up and heads back to the city for the week ahead. Mia and her brother, Nick, meet up with Ciara. We learn that Mia lives four blocks away from her brother, but if she had her way, he’d live closer. They are meeting with a medium that Ciara met while she was in Costa Rica.

Mia is longing for closure about her mother and when the medium begins talking, Mia becomes emotional. Mentions of dreams and hands are shared and  Mia’s mom comes through saying she wishes Mia had more confidence and was less stagnant in her life.  She then tells her not to worry, Mia will be having a baby girl when the time is right and she will be there every step of the way.  Tissue, please.

West is trying to prove he’s a good guy by volunteering at a dog adoption fundraiser. Amanda and Kyle come to support him and Amanda gets a moment to chat with West about what went down with Ciara. Amanda reminds West that he has been such a good friend to her all summer, but once he disrespects Ciara, it becomes a weird dynamic. West is unsure what he jeopardized with Ciara, but Amanda points out that he is super flirty with her when they go out on the weekends. Is she jealous?

Scott is making his debut in the Hamptons, but only for one night since his busy career is sending him back to Miami for an uncertain amount of time.  West is going into this weekend attempting to control his attitude and his effort and Dara shares that she is now officially exclusive with KJ. They are boyfriend and girlfriend. #Fullsend.

Kyle explains that Amanda is unsure if she will be coming, despite it being the second to last weekend of the summer. Evidently, it’s a mystery why Amanda bailed, but that topic changes quickly once Ciara catches KJ’s ear about his new girlfriend. Ciara worries that KJ jumped into this relationship super fast and Mia reminds him that he does not have to propose to Dara any time soon.

Ciara can hardly believe that Amanda would leave her with 7 boys for the weekend. Amanda states that the idea of coming to the Hamptons is “overwhelming” her.  She’s been trying to power through it all summer, but now she just wants to be alone and not paste a fake smile on her face.

West interrupts Ciara’s FaceTime with Amanda and lets her know that still, a week later, he does not feel any better.  He apologizes AGAIN. Ciara admits that she does not hate West, but it’s getting exhausting. Ciara decides to invite West for coffee in the morning to see where things go.

Sidenote: Kyle is actually having FUN and that’s because his wife is nowhere to be seen.  What a realization!

The house wakes up the next day and Mia has to say goodbye to Scott.  He rarely gives her a full weekend and it’s starting to wear on her. After speaking with the medium, Mia is thinking it’s time to move and start making decisions in her life, especially with her relationship.

Before going out on the boat, West and Ciara leave early for some coffee, shocking most people in the house. Ciara lets West know that it’s been two years of nothing being said and she is afraid of being embarrassed around him. When West did not see her while he was making out last weekend, Ciara felt triggered.  This cycle of whatever the heck they are is getting exhausting.

West talking to the media and downplaying the relationship by saying “We’re not each other’s people” really upset her, considering Ciara thought of him as one of her best friends. She did not expect that type of behavior from him and West claims this all makes him feel “really sad.”

West explains that he tried to defend himself while he was under attack and Ciara apologizes for not being there for him when he needed it. Ciara realizes that their situation would be a lot simpler if they lived simpler lives.

West shares that his natural instinct is to resent the person who everyone is sh*tting on him about and Ciara realizes this muddies the water of how they actually feel about each other.  Ciara gets emotional and states that she misses West as her friend and he agrees.

Ciara does not want people talking badly about West because he’s not a bad person (ugh).  She admits that she is tired of keeping her guard up and wonders what it could be like if she lets West back in as a friend. West misses the moments where he gets to talk with Ciara one on one.  He apologizes, yet again, and explains he was not thinking about how impactful it was to bring her home to his family. Now he understands things better than he did before.

West states that he “sees her more” which is all Ciara wanted. He shares that he is happier when they communicate and he even gets a smile out of Ciara. Ciara asks West if they can just be best friends again and they hug it out in an emotional embrace that lasts entirely too long, if you ask me.

West makes a joke about Ciara not making out with Jesse and Ciara laughs it off because West did not even try to save her. If only we could forewarn Ciara of how this “friendship” will turn out in a few months…

Breaking: Attorney General Uthmeier Initiates Groundbreaking Criminal Probe into OpenAI’s ChatGPT

0
Photo courtesy of the Office of the Attorney General

The Office of the Attorney General has released an important statement from Tallahassee, Florida, revealing a significant development in the realm of artificial intelligence and law enforcement. Attorney General James Uthmeier has declared that the Office of Statewide Prosecution is now conducting a criminal investigation into the AI technology company, OpenAI, specifically targeting its popular application, ChatGPT. This probe has been initiated following a detailed examination of chat logs between ChatGPT and Phoenix Ikner, the individual responsible for last year’s tragic shooting at Florida State University.

Attorney General Uthmeier emphasized Florida’s pioneering role in addressing the potential misuse of artificial intelligence in criminal activities. He stated, “If ChatGPT were a human, it would be facing murder charges.” The investigation aims to ascertain whether OpenAI could be held criminally accountable for the actions that led to the violent incident at the university.

Reinforcing the gravity of the situation, Mark Glass, Commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, highlighted the necessity of public awareness regarding the potential dangers posed by emerging technologies. He remarked, “Understanding the risks associated with this new technology is crucial for safeguarding ourselves and our communities from various threats, including scams and more severe crimes.”

Under Florida law, individuals who assist or encourage the commission of a crime may be deemed as culpable as the person who directly perpetrates the offense. This legal stance classifies such individuals as “aiders and abettors,” holding them equally accountable for the crime.

Florida law states that anyone who aids, abets, or counsels someone in the commission of a crime, and that crime is committed or attempted, may be considered a principal to the crime. The “aider and abettor” is just as responsible for the crime as the perpetrator.

The Office of Statewide Prosecution subpoenaed OpenAI for the following information:

Beginning March 1, 2024, through April 17, 2026:
    •  All policies and internal training materials regarding user threats of harm to others.
    •  All policies and internal training materials regarding user threats of harm to self.
    •  All policies and internal training materials regarding cooperation with law enforcement, including policies for the reporting of possible past, present, or future crime.
    •  If multiple policies were in place during this time period and changed, all policies and dates of change.

For the dates of March 1, 2024, October 1, 2024, and April 17, 2025:
    •  Organizational Chart listing executives, directors, department heads, and/or senior managers of OpenAI.
    •  A listing of all employees, including affiliated departments and titles or role description(s), within ChatGPT.

Relating to the FSU Shooting on April 17, 2025:
    •  Any and all media publicly released.
    •  Any and all publicly released statements, including but not limited to, press releases and media interviews.

Florida has already taken significant action on combating crimes related to the use of AI. This action includes a 135-year prison sentence for a predator who possessed child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), some of which were AI-generated; another child predator is currently facing 100 criminal charges, including 46 counts of AI-generated CSAM.

In March 2026, Attorney General Uthmeier joined Governor DeSantis for the signing of HB 1159, which increased the penalty for AI-generated CSAM to a second-degree felony.

California Resident Exposed: Iranian Regime’s Digital Propaganda Agent Targets U.S. with Viral Memes

0

A key propagandist for the Iranian regime has been discreetly residing in the suburbs of Southern California, allegedly while receiving a significant monthly salary from Tehran.

Meysam Zamanabadi, who has served as a trusted advisor to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has long-standing connections with the Iranian government dating back to Ghalibaf’s tenure as Tehran’s mayor and law enforcement chief. For almost a decade, Zamanabadi has made his home in Glendora, California.

Zamanabadi oversees Ghalibaf’s English-language X account, strategically crafting anti-American content filled with memes designed to appeal to and influence susceptible audiences in the U.S.

Given that some of these operations are conducted from within the United States by individuals fluent in English who utilize contemporary slang and imagery, it’s unsurprising that some Democratic politicians might be misled by overt Iranian propaganda on social media.

According to a report by Iranwire, Zamanabadi plays a crucial role as an advisor to Ghalibaf, who has previously held positions as Tehran’s Police Chief and Mayor. He reportedly continues to receive a substantial $11,000 monthly payment from Iranian sources.

Zamanabadi, according to an analysis by Iranwire, is a “pivotal advisor” for Ghalibaf, who served time as Police Chief and Mayor of Tehran, and continues to rake in a not-unhealthy $11,000 per month from the Iranians.

Financial audits conducted by the Tehran City Council in 2017 revealed that even after moving to America, he received a monthly sum of 40 million Tomans (equivalent to approximately $11,000 at the time). This was paid in foreign currency through an exchange office in Ferdowsi Square via an individual named Hesamuddin Sahami, the then technical director of Tamashagar magazine.
