Brittany Cartwright Clarifies Speculations on Cosmetic Enhancements Following ‘Mommy Makeover

Brittany Cartwright is candidly addressing the cosmetic procedures she underwent as part of her “mommy makeover” and discussing her openness to future enhancements.

“I don’t have any specific plans for more procedures, but I’m open to possibilities,” Cartwright, 37, shared exclusively with Us Weekly on Wednesday, April 15, while promoting the third season of The Valley. “I had my second breast augmentation filmed for TV, so any future procedures will be shared publicly,” she added.

Following the birth of her son Cruz in April 2021, Cartwright decided on a “mommy makeover” nearly four years later. In 2025, she chose to undergo a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck, later explaining on her podcast, “When Reality Hits,” that she was dealing with diastasis recti, a condition involving the separation of abdominal muscles, as well as issues like “stretch marks” and a “shelf.”

“I have not had a nose job or facial fillers, despite what some might think,” she clarified to Us Weekly. “If I had, I’d be upfront about it.”

Cartwright’s recent decision to undergo these procedures marks an important personal milestone. “This was something Brittany had considered for a long time,” shared a spokesperson. “Her ‘mommy makeover’ with Dr. Payman Danielpour and Dr. John Layke at Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group signifies a new and empowering chapter in her life.”

Ever since getting new breast implants and having a tummy tuck, Cartwright has felt more confident than ever.

“I feel so amazing. I’m so glad that I did it, you know, kind of just taking my confidence back, taking my body back,” she said on Wednesday. “I’m just so glad that I did it. It was something I wanted to do for a long time, and you have no idea what it actually means to me. I’m sure a lot of moms out there can understand, but yeah, I feel amazing.”

The Valley star went under the knife amid her separation from estranged husband Jax Taylor. (Cartwright and Taylor, 46, have yet to finalize their divorce and currently share custody of Cruz, 5.)

“Coparenting is not easy. We still have our issues, but Cruz does not see any of that,” Cartwright added to Us of her dynamic with Taylor. “There’s no toxic anything in front of him, no arguments, nothing like that. Cruz comes first to both of us. I love him, his dad loves him, so he’s always gonna come first, no matter what, and he’s just thriving right now, and I’m so proud of him.”

Brittany Cartwright Would Definitely Go Smaller During Next Breast Augmentation Is Waiting to Get Checked Out Until She Knows If She Will Have More Kids

Brittany Cartwright is opening up about her fluctuating relationship with her breasts. “I get comments and stuff about my breasts all the time and it’s so annoying because I had my boobs done, gosh, it’s probably about 10 years ago,” Cartwright, 36, said on the Friday, March 21, episode of her “When Reality Bites” podcast. […]

Cartwright’s life as a single mom is also chronicled on season 3 of Bravo’s The Valley. (Taylor took a step back from the reality TV series ahead of the new season amid mental health issues.)

“It’s so much lighter this season. I don’t want to go back into the dark, toxic stuff,” she teased of the newest episodes, which feature Cartwright diving back into the dating pool. “I think if I’m going to date somebody for real, be in a real relationship, like, this is my life. I signed up for reality TV. I know I’m gonna share my life. I’m an open book, as I always say, and I always try to be super authentic. Whoever I date will have to probably pop in and out … but it’s important to me that they would respect that, but I don’t want them to be, like, eager.”

The Valley airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Trump and Iranian Diplomacy: Ensuring the Strait of Hormuz Remains Open and Secure

0

BEIRUT (AP) — On Friday, a significant announcement came from both U.S. President Donald Trump and Iran’s Foreign Minister, declaring the Strait of Hormuz open for commercial shipping. This development comes as a 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon continues to hold.

The ceasefire provides a respite from the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hezbollah militant faction, potentially paving the way for an agreement involving Iran, the United States, and Israel to conclude weeks of intense warfare. Despite this progress, uncertainty looms over whether Hezbollah will accept an agreement they weren’t involved in crafting, especially with Israeli forces maintaining a presence in parts of southern Lebanon.

In a message on social media, President Trump highlighted that Iran had officially stated the strait is “fully open and ready for full passage.”

Just prior to Trump’s statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to X to affirm that all commercial vessels could now freely pass through the strait, in accordance with the ongoing ceasefire in Lebanon. He noted that this openness would persist as long as the truce remained in effect.

However, questions remain regarding the status of the U.S. blockade on the strait. Trump clarified that the blockade would “remain in full force” until a formal agreement is reached between the U.S. and Iran to conclude the conflict.

Meanwhile in Beirut, barrages of gunshots rang out across the city as residents fired into the air just after midnight to celebrate the beginning of the truce, and displaced families began moving toward southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs despite warnings by officials not to attempt to return to their homes until it became clear whether the ceasefire would hold.

A spokesperson for the U.N. peacekeepers in southern Lebanon said Friday that they have not observed any airstrikes since midnight, but accused the Israeli military of violating airspace and artillery shelling in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military did not immediately comment. According to the agreement shared by the State Department, Israel can act in self-defense against imminent attacks but cannot carry out offensive operations against southern Lebanon.

Trump heralded the deal a “historic day for Lebanon,” even as he expressed confidence that the war with Iran would soon end in a Las Vegas speech.

“I will say the war in Iran is going along swimmingly,” Trump said. “It should be ending pretty soon.”

An end to Israel’s war with Hezbollah was a key demand of Iranian negotiators, who previously accused Israel of breaking the current ceasefire deal with strikes on Lebanon. Israel said that deal did not cover Lebanon.

Pakistan’s army chief met Thursday with Iran’s parliament speaker as part of international efforts to press for an extension of the ceasefire.

The fighting has killed at least 3,000 people in Iran, more than 2,100 in Lebanon, 23 in Israel and more than a dozen in Gulf Arab states. Thirteen U.S. service members have also been killed.

Israel says it will keep troops in Lebanon

Israel’s hard-line Defense Minister Israel Katz warned on Friday that Israel plans to respect the ceasefire even though attempts to completely disarm Hezbollah in southern Lebanon are “not yet complete.” Katz said that Israel would continue to hold all the places it is currently stationed, including a buffer zone extending 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the border with Israel into southern Lebanon. He said that many homes in the area would be destroyed and Lebanese residents will not return to the area.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he agreed to the ceasefire “to advance” peace efforts with Lebanon, but also said Israeli troops would not withdraw.

Israeli forces have engaged in fierce battles with Hezbollah in the border area as they pushed into southern Lebanon to create what officials have called a “security zone.”

“That is where we are, and we are not leaving,” he said.

Hezbollah has said that Lebanese people have “the right to resist” Israeli occupation of their land and that their actions “will be determined based on how developments unfold.”

The U.S. State Department said that according to the agreement, Israel reserves the right to defend itself “at any time, against planned, imminent or ongoing attacks.” But otherwise, Israel “will not carry out any offensive military operations against Lebanese targets, including civilian, military, and other state targets.”

Trump announced the agreement as a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, but a Hezbollah official said the ceasefire was a result of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

Israel and Hezbollah have fought several wars and have been fighting on and off since the day after the start of the Gaza war. Israel and Lebanon reached a deal to end that war in November 2024, but Israel has kept up near-daily strikes in what it says is an effort to prevent the Iran-backed militant group from regrouping. That escalated into another invasion after Hezbollah again began firing missiles at Israel in response to its war on Iran.

Flurry of diplomacy led up to Lebanon ceasefire

The agreement came after a meeting between Israel’s and Lebanon’s ambassadors in Washington and a flurry of subsequent phone calls from Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to a White House official.

They were the first direct diplomatic talks between the two countries in decades. Hezbollah had opposed direct talks between Lebanon and Israel.

Trump spoke Wednesday evening with Netanyahu, who agreed to a ceasefire with certain terms, according to the official, who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Rubio then called Lebanon’s president, Joseph Aoun, who got on board. Trump then spoke with Aoun, and again with Netanyahu.

The State Department worked with both governments to formulate a memorandum of understanding for the truce.

Pakistan army chief meets with Iranian parliament speaker

Pakistan’s army chief met Thursday with Iran’s parliament speaker as part of efforts to press for an extension to a ceasefire that has paused almost seven weeks of war between Israel, the U.S. and Iran.

Even as the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports and renewed Iranian threats strained the ceasefire, regional officials reported progress, telling AP the United States and Iran had an “in-principle agreement” to extend it to allow for more diplomacy. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive negotiations.

Mediators are pushing for a compromise on three main sticking points: Iran’s nuclear program, the Strait of Hormuz and compensation for wartime damages, according to a regional official involved in the mediation efforts.

Trump suggested the ceasefire could be extended.

“If we’re close to a deal, would I extend?” Trump said in an exchange with reporters. “Yeah, I would do that.”

Minnesota Prosecutor Files Charges Against ICE Agent in Gun Incident; Savanah Hernandez Case Still Pending

The incident involving Morgan unfolded as part of the broader “Operation Metro Surge,” a federal immigration enforcement initiative that has sparked both protests and intense scrutiny in the Minneapolis area. On February 5, Morgan reportedly accelerated his vehicle, drove alongside another car on Highway 62, and pointed his official firearm at the occupants, as detailed by Moriarty during a recent press conference.

In an unexpected twist, while Morgan faces these serious allegations, no charges have been pursued regarding a separate incident where Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez was attacked. This disparity in legal action highlights the complexities and challenges within the justice system, particularly when federal operations intersect with local jurisdictions.

Mary Moriarty has responded to the situation by issuing a nationwide arrest warrant for Morgan, a move that underscores the gravity of the charges. As the case unfolds, it is bound to provoke further discussion about the legal boundaries and responsibilities of federal agents operating within individual states.

Morgan “sped up, pulled alongside the vehicle, matched its speed, opened his window and pointed his duty weapon directly at both victims,” Moriarty said during a press conference.

According to a criminal complaint, the incident unfolded around 4:20 p.m. near the Interstate 35W interchange as traffic slowed to a single lane. Prosecutors said Morgan drove on the shoulder to bypass congestion before pulling alongside the victims and pointing a handgun at their heads.

Investigators said Morgan was driving a rented SUV with no markings identifying it as a federal vehicle. Both victims said they felt threatened by his actions, according to the complaint.

Investigators said Morgan was not responding to an emergency at the time and told authorities he was heading back to the Whipple Federal Building to end his shift and get gas.

Morgan told investigators he feared for his safety, yelled “Police! Stop,” and believed the individuals were “agitators” who cut him off because he was a federal agent, according to the complaint.

Authorities have issued a nationwide warrant for Morgan’s arrest. He faces two counts of second-degree assault, each punishable by up to seven years in prison. Bail was set at $100,000, with conditions including no possession of weapons and compliance with all court appearances.

Moriarty said the case moved more quickly than other investigations tied to Operation Metro Surge because authorities were able to complete their work “without obstruction or interference.”

“Today’s charges reflect an important milestone in our efforts to seek accountability,” Moriarty said, adding that her office is continuing to investigate more than a dozen other incidents involving federal agents.

Prosecutors are also reviewing whether to file charges against individuals accused of assaulting Hernandez during an anti-ICE protest outside the Whipple Federal Building last weekend.

Protesters swarmed Hernandez while she was reporting, blowing horns in her face, yelling obscenities and shoving her as she attempted to leave, according to video from the scene.

At one point, a protester pushed Hernandez into a fence, and another later shoved her to the ground as she yelled, “Stop touching me” and “Leave me, I am trying to leave!”

Hernandez later said she suffered minor injuries, including scrapes and soreness.

A spokesperson for the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office told Fox News Digital that three cases tied to the Hernandez incident have been submitted by law enforcement and are under review for potential charges, though a timeline for a decision remains unclear.

The cases were submitted out of custody, meaning no arrests were made at the time.

The FBI has opened a federal investigation. No charging decision has been announced.

Trump’s Controversial Remarks: Calls for TV Presenter Removal Over Appearance

The President was reportedly tuned into Fox News’ program The Five when co-host Jessica Tarlov caught his attention, sparking his displeasure.

“I’m watching one of the least attractive and talented individuals on television, Jessica Tarlov,” Trump expressed.

“Her voice is so grating and unpleasant, I had to ‘turn her off!'”

“Her Democrat talking points are FAKE. She fabricates ‘Poll Numbers,’ and no one challenges her because she’s so dull.”

Tarlov identifies herself as a “liberal living in a conservative world.”

The Five typically has a series of presenters of differing political opinions to discuss issues to the day.

“GET HER OFF THE AIR, SHE IS BAD FOR OUR COUNTRY!” Trump demanded.

“I hear Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens are dying fast,” he said.

“Their numbers are terrible. Nobody believes them anymore.”

Trump’s attack on Tarlov is not the first time he has commented on the physical attractiveness of female reporters.

“Quiet. Quiet, piggy,” he told her.

“Italy wasn’t there for us, we won’t be there for them!” he wrote.

”While I didn’t know him other than our brief Dover encounter, but feeling sorry for him after the two Election losses, I told my people, ‘Hire him for the White House. Give him a job, make him feel good, he lost his wife and two Elections,’” Trump said.

Disney Announces 1,000 Job Cuts Amid Market Challenges; Condé Nast Signals Potential Reductions

0

This week, The Walt Disney Company initiated substantial layoffs, shortly followed by an announcement from Condé Nast about potential similar actions.

A memo from Disney’s recently appointed CEO, Josh D’Amaro, unveiled on Tuesday, detailed the dismissals, revealing that approximately 1,000 employees would be let go, according to insider information.

D’Amaro attributed the decision to the “swift evolution of our industries,” emphasizing that the dynamic environment necessitates a workforce that is more adaptable and technologically advanced to address future demands.

Condé Nast’s CEO, Roger Lynch, echoed this sentiment in a memo circulated on Thursday, indicating a comparable approach.

Lynch noted that the company plans to implement “changes within our technology organization,” driven by the rapid progress of AI and its influence on their capacity to innovate and accelerate product development.

‘Teams will be restructured to be more agile and to work more closely with our brands and customers, reducing barriers to execution,’ he said.

The C-suiter said Condé’s long-running title Self will also soon close. A Condé spokesperson declined to comment.

Glamour’s editor in chief for the past four years, Samantha Barry, is also on the way out, she announced on Instagram.

The Walt Disney Company underwent a massive round of layoffs this week, affecting roughly 1,000 employees. The job losses were addressed in an email by new Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro

Glamour’s editor in chief for the past four years, Samantha Barry, has resigned, she wrote on Instagram Thrusday. The Irish media exec wrote she was pursuing new things

‘Sharing some personal news. After eight phenomenal years at Glamour I’m stepping away,’ the 46-year-old Irish media exec wrote.

Barry said that ‘as the title’s business model evolved,’ she ‘made clear’ to longtime Vogue and Condé Nast chief Anna Wintour ‘that this was the right moment to leave.’

She said that she was ‘pursu[ing] new projects.’

Self’s content, meanwhile, will be folded into Condé’s other brands, the company said. The magazine became online-only in 2017. Its content had centered around health and wellness.

Late last year, Condé folded Teen Vogue into Vogue.com after 22 years.

Chloe Malle was named Vogue’s new head of editorial content a few months before, replacing the legendary Wintour. Titles like The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and Wired were once under her remit.

At the time, a New York Times op-ed acknowledged the massive media shift.

A media mammoth once known for its dominance was visibly on the decline, the piece observed.

‘People no longer read print magazines the way they used to,’ correspondent Michael Grynbaum wrote. ‘[Vogue] still is a global brand… but now there are thousands of influencers and social media channels where people get ideas about dressing and glamor and clothing and taste.’

Disney, meanwhile, did away with staffers across its studios, TV networks, and product and technology and corporate groups, according to a Tuesday report from Variety.

D’Amaro wrote the cuts will ‘streamline our operations in various parts of the company to ensure we deliver the world-class creativity and innovation our fans value and expect from Disney.’

Disney owns networks like ABC News. It has laid off more than 8,000 staffers since former CEO Bob Iger took the reins in 2022 once again following a short-lived retirement and disastrous CEO stint from Bob Chapek.

Layoffs have been widespread in media in recent years.

Competitors like Sony, Paramount, and Warner Bros. have made their own cuts.

More reductions are expected if Paramount closes its $111 billion acquisition of Warner. Disney had roughly 230,000 full and part-time employees in September 2025, Variety reported.

The Daily Mail approached Disney for comment.

David Beckham Shares Heartfelt Birthday Tribute to Victoria on Her Special Day

David Beckham celebrated his wife Victoria’s 52nd birthday on Friday by sharing a nostalgic photo capturing the moment he first fell in love with her, alongside a playful nod to the infamous Rolls-Royce incident.

The 50-year-old former soccer star turned to Instagram to reminisce with a series of heartfelt and amusing throwback images of the iconic Posh Spice.

Among the photos was a snapshot from the Spice Girls’ 1996 “Say You’ll Be There” music video, marking the first time Victoria captivated David’s heart.

He also included a charming image of a young Victoria standing beside her father’s Rolls-Royce, adding a touch of humor to the collection.

David’s playful side shines through, especially considering Victoria’s well-known comments about her working-class upbringing in his 2023 Netflix documentary.

David interrupted and told Victoria to admit that her dad used to drive her to school in  a Rolls-Royce – a high-end car.

Whilst the magazine says ‘she does not reply with his name,’ the mother of four, 51, has, for the first time, spoken directly about their ongoing feud.

‘I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much’, she said. ‘We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.

‘And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it’.

Brooklyn, 27, cut ties with his family in a scathing social media statement in January, declaring he has no plans to reconcile with his famous parents and accusing them of ‘controlling him for most of his life’.

Jim Parsons Reveals Why He’ll Never Revive Sheldon Cooper in a ‘Big Bang Theory’ Reboot

0

Jim Parsons has been profoundly moved by the significant influence The Big Bang Theory has had on audiences worldwide. However, he’s hesitant to step back into the shoes of Sheldon Cooper anytime soon.

During a recent appearance on The View, where he discussed his involvement in Broadway’s Titanique, Parsons was reminded of his 12-season journey on the CBS sitcom. Alyssa Farah Griffin described Sheldon Cooper as “one of the most beloved characters in all of television.” Although Parsons jokingly questioned why Sheldon holds such a cherished spot, Griffin prodded him about whether he misses portraying the eccentric scientist and if he might entertain the idea of a reboot.

Parsons was candid in his response, stating, “I don’t believe I would do a reboot.” He elaborated, “I can’t say I miss him, partly because, especially 12 years on a TV show where they’re writing for this specific actor, there’s a lot of me in that. Not the genius part, but there’s a lot of me in that.”

He went on to explain that many of Sheldon’s characteristics and his overall persona remain with him, and the actor still encounters a strong fan response to his iconic character.

“The longer it goes on, I’m more and more surprised when people approach me about it,” Parsons confessed. “Not because I’m stupid, but because I’m like, oh, it makes sense. But I’m just not thinking it. But it’s always really sweet.”

'The View'

Parsons noted the slew of people that have highlighted the power of the sitcom in helping them navigate obstacles like “sickness” and “a bad time in life.”

“It’s very moving because when you take a job as a younger actor on a sitcom TV show, I don’t think many people think it can have some sort of bigger effect than that,” he said. “And that’s really sweet.”

While Parsons may not reprise the role in the future, he did return to the role for an appearance in the series finale of the Big Bang Theory prequel series, Young Sheldon. Parson also narrated and executive produced the series starring Iain Armitage as a young Sheldon Cooper.

Legendary Country Songwriter Don Schlitz, Creator of ‘The Gambler,’ Passes Away at 73

0

NEW YORK — Don Schlitz, the legendary country music songwriter renowned for penning classics like “The Gambler,” “On the Other Hand,” and “Forever and Ever, Amen,” passed away on Thursday at a hospital in Nashville. He was 73 years old.

The exact cause of Schlitz’s death remains undisclosed, though a statement from the Grand Ole Opry mentioned it was due to a sudden illness.

Throughout his illustrious career, Schlitz earned two Grammy Awards and was honored with inductions into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Upon being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017, Schlitz humbly expressed, “I will never be able to believe that I deserve this, unless I receive it as a representative of my family, my mentors, my collaborators, my promoters, and my friends. That’s the only way I can deal with this.”

Schlitz made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2017 and achieved the rare distinction of being inducted in 2022 as the only non-artist to be honored in the Opry’s century-long history. This Saturday, the iconic venue’s show will be dedicated to his memory.

From 1988 to 1991, Schlitz was named ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year for four consecutive years. His talents extended beyond the realm of country music as he also contributed music and lyrics to the 1999 Broadway musical “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.”

Schlitz’s songs are widely considered some of the most unwavering in country music, and have been recorded by such hitmakers as Kenny Rogers (“The Gambler,” “The Greatest”), Randy Travis (“On the Other Hand,” “Forever and Ever, Amen”), The Judds (“I Know Where I’m Going”), The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (“I Love Only You,”) Tanya Tucker (“I Won’t Take Less Than Your Love,”) Mary Chapin Carpenter (“He Thinks He’ll Keep Her”) and many others.

He also wrote “You Can’t Make Old Friends” for Rogers and Dolly Parton; their first duet since 1983’s “Islands in the Stream.”

Schlitz, a North Carolina native, was born in 1952 and raised in Durham before packing his bags and heading to Nashville. His first recorded song, “The Gambler,” is perhaps his most enduring hit and the tent-pole of his legacy. The song, which was recorded by Rogers in 1978 and certified five times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), opened doors for country music in the ’70s, a track that was not only a huge genre hit but also a pop crossover one.

As Rogers said when he inducted Schlitz into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012, “Don doesn’t just write songs. He writes careers.”

“We are heartbroken by the news of the passing of Don Schlitz. Don loved his family, his home state of North Carolina, and above all, songs and songwriters. He carried that love into every room, every stage and every lyric he ever wrote,” Sarah Trahern, Country Music Association CEO, wrote in a statement Friday. “Not long ago, we shared a dinner, and as we were leaving, Don picked up a guitar and began to play. That is how I will always remember him, smiling and with a guitar in his hand. His legacy lives on through his music and the many artists and writers he inspired. He will be deeply missed.”

“Don Schlitz’s place as a songwriting great would be secure had he never written ‘The Gambler’ or had he only written ‘The Gambler,’” Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, wrote in a statement Friday. “Nashville was richer for his presence and is lesser for his absence.”

Schlitz is survived by his wife Stacey, daughter Cory Dixon and her husband Matt Dixon, son Pete Schlitz and his wife Christian Webb Schlitz, grandchildren Roman, Gia, Isla and Lilah, brother Brad Schlitz and sister Kathy Hinkley.

Heroic Gas Station Clerk Saves Teen from Alleged Kidnapper: A Brave Act of Quick Thinking

A vigilant gas station employee thwarted a suspected kidnapping, alerting authorities when a teenage girl discreetly signaled her need for assistance, even as her armed captor stood nearby.

Donald Fields faces multiple charges, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping, as well as possession of a firearm by an individual prohibited from owning one, felonious assault, and felony firearm use. The Hamtramck Police Department confirmed these charges in their statement. Additionally, Fields is accused of being a habitual offender, having committed a third offense.

Presently, Fields is detained in Wayne County Jail, held without bail, according to the prosecutor’s office, as reported by Oxygen. He has entered a plea of not guilty.

The incident took place on April 13, when a 16-year-old girl, waiting for her school bus, was allegedly approached by Fields. Brandishing a gun, he reportedly coerced her into his van. This information comes from a statement released by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Inside the van at a gas station, Fields is accused of sexually assaulting the teenager. Fortunately, a classmate who witnessed the event promptly contacted 911, while other students used their phones to track her location. This timely communication provided critical details to law enforcement, aiding in the investigation.

When Fields arrived at a gas station, he asked the girl to buy cigarettes, according to prosecutors, which is when the clerk stepped in.

Abdulrahman Abohatem, who identified himself as the clerk, told WXYZ-Detroit, “She mouthed—talked to me with no sound—’help.’”

Hamtramck Police Chief Hussein Farhat added in an April 16 press conference,The clerk reading the victim’s eyes, he knew something was wrong. He sensed it and he was able to watch her lips. Obviously, she didn’t say, ‘Help me’ in front of him.”

The clerk stepped out from behind the counter, placing himself between the suspect and the victim, Farhat said in the press conference, and ordered the man to leave.

Police arrested Fields outside the store, confiscating his handgun and impounding the van.

Fields will next appear in court on April 30. Attorney Matthew Forrest did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Oxygen“While we recognize the seriousness of the charges here,” Forrest said, according to WXYZ, “Mr. Fields at this point is presumed to be innocent.”

“Our young survivor in this case was simply walking in broad daylight when she was viciously attacked and sexually assaulted,” Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in the press release. “Despite what she had just gone through, her quick thinking and mental toughness saved her life. We cannot reverse what happened to her, but we can work hard to bring justice to her.”

Discover Julia Whelan: The Acclaimed Narrator of Over 700 Audiobooks

If you’ve indulged in an audiobook at any point over the past 15 years, chances are you’ve encountered the distinctive voice of Julia Whelan. Her vocal talents have graced the pages of numerous best-selling novels by renowned authors such as Gillian Flynn, Emily Henry, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Kristen Hannah, and Freida McFadden. In fact, Whelan has lent her voice to approximately 700 books to date. Nearly two decades into her career, the former child actor has honed her craft to perfection.

In an exclusive conversation with E! News, Julia shared insights into her process for selecting projects. “When I receive an offer to narrate an audiobook, there’s simply no time to read the entire book beforehand to make a decision. The publishers need a quick response, so I rely on intuition,” she revealed. “I consider whether the author is someone I’ve worked with or have long admired, and whether the synopsis piques my interest.”

Whelan elaborated, “My approach to choosing projects is rooted in my love for books. If the book’s description would entice me to spend $27 on it, that’s a strong enough signal that it’s a project I want to pursue.”

She continued, “My decision-making process really boils down to the fact that I am a book nerd who, if I read a flap, and I would pay $27 for that book, that’s enough of an indication for me that I want to do it.”
