UK Police Report Attempted Antisemitic Hate Crime at London Synagogue

0

Authorities in London are actively searching for two masked individuals involved in an attempted arson at a synagogue, an incident currently being investigated as an antisemitic hate crime.

The Metropolitan Police of the United Kingdom reported that the suspects, clad in dark attire and wearing balaclavas, targeted the synagogue in Finchley shortly after midnight on Wednesday. They hurled two bottles, which are believed to have contained petrol, along with a brick at the building.

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams acknowledged the distress this event might cause, especially following a similar arson attack in Golders Green last month. “We are collaborating with the affected synagogue and maintaining dialogue with community leaders,” he stated, emphasizing the seriousness with which such incidents are treated. “Our detectives are working diligently to identify those responsible,” he assured.

Authorities have released a photograph showing a police officer examining the scene outside Finchley Reform Synagogue, where the attack took place on April 15, 2026. The Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation into the attack.

Police said neither bottle ignited and no damage or injuries were reported.

British prosecutors earlier this month charged three suspects — ages 17, 19 and 20 — in an alleged arson attack targeting Jewish community ambulances in north London.

The March 23 incident unfolded at around 1:45 a.m. in the Golders Green neighborhood, where four ambulances operated by a volunteer emergency service serving the Jewish community were deliberately set ablaze in a synagogue parking lot.

In the latest incident, the Metropolitan Police said no arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon local time.

“If you have any CCTV, dash cam footage or information that could help officers please contact the police,” Williams said.

“Residents can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area over the coming days. We have brought in additional officers and would urge anyone with concerns to speak to them,” he added.

Luna, Daughter of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Marks 10th Birthday with a Stylish Celebration

Chrissy Teigen transformed her daughter Luna’s 10th birthday into an exclusive fashion experience.

On April 14, the model accompanied Luna to The Daily Front Row’s 10th Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards, held at The Beverly Hills Hotel. This event doubled as a birthday celebration, aligning perfectly with Luna’s milestone of turning ten. The evening was a blend of stylish festivities and cherished mother-daughter bonding.

In a Getty Images snapshot, Teigen dazzled in a chic white suit paired with a bronze bralette, while Luna embraced elegance in a black one-shoulder dress. The duo remained inseparable throughout the event, sharing moments of hand-holding and attentive whispers as they enjoyed the show together.

Leading up to the birthday, Teigen offered a peek into their personal countdown to Luna’s big day. She posted a sweet video on Instagram Stories, capturing Luna snuggling into bed with her mom as they eagerly anticipated the moment she turned ten.

Earlier in the week, Teigen shared a glimpse of how they marked the final hours before Luna turned 10. In a video posted to Instagram Stories, Luna climbed into bed next to her mom as they counted down.

“Last hug of 9,” Luna said before wrapping her arms around Teigen.

Teigen reacted in the moment, joking through it before the realization hit that her oldest child was stepping into a new age.

Luna Simone Stephens was born on April 14, 2016, to Teigen and John Legend. She is the couple’s eldest child, followed by Miles, Esti, and Wren.

She is already getting comfortable on camera. In 2024, she led her first sit-down conversation with her dad for Billboard Family at just 8 years old.

The Billboard Family appearance wasn’t a one-off. More recently, she spent time backstage during The Voice, where she went around speaking with contestants and others involved with the show, asking questions and keeping conversations flowing.

Her creativity also extends beyond the camera. She sang on the track “L.O.V.E.” on Legend’s children’s album My Favorite Dream and created the artwork for the single covers tied to the project. Her designs even made their way onto merchandise, including hoodies available through Legend’s store.

North Korea Conducts Ballistic Missile Launches into Sea

North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles toward the sea on Sunday, its neighbours said, the North’s latest weapons testing activity this year.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea conducted missile launches on Sunday morning, originating from the eastern region of Sinpo.

In response, South Korea has heightened its surveillance efforts and is actively sharing intelligence with allies, including the United States and Japan.

Officials from South Korea’s presidential office announced that the National Security Council is set to convene an emergency meeting to address the developments.

Japan’s Defense Ministry also confirmed the missile launches, noting that the projectiles appeared to have fallen into the waters off North Korea’s east coast.

Tokyo has issued a strong protest to Pyongyang, asserting that the missile tests pose a threat to both regional and global peace. The launches contravene United Nations Security Council resolutions, which prohibit North Korea from engaging in any ballistic missile activities.

Last week, North Korea said leader Kim Jong Un supervised missile tests from the country’s destroyer.

After the test, Kim said his government remained focused on the “limitless expansion” of its nuclear forces and issued unspecified new tasks to sharpen the country’s nuclear attack and rapid-response capabilities.

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi said last week that his agency has confirmed “a rapid increase” in activities at nuclear facilities in North Korea.

Celebrate Heroism: Tolono Fire Hosts Lifesaver Award Ceremony to Honor Brave First Responders

The Tolono Fire Protection District is set to honor a team of first responders on Monday for their heroic actions during a critical emergency earlier this year in Tolono, Illinois.

On January 11, a life-threatening situation unfolded when members of the Tolono Fire Department, alongside Carle Arrow Ambulance, were dispatched to a local home following reports of cardiac arrest. Upon their arrival, Tolono Police Department officers were already administering CPR and had deployed an automated external defibrillator (AED) in an effort to revive the victim.

Battle of the Haircare Titans: Beyoncé’s Cécred Takes on Cardi B’s Grow-Good Beauty

Cardi B has officially entered the arena of celebrity-endorsed hair care with the launch of her line, Grow-Good Beauty, which debuted on April 15, 2026. This marks a significant venture for the rapper, who joins a roster of stars branching into the beauty industry. Notably, she follows in the footsteps of Beyoncé, who continues to captivate fans with her own hair-care brand, Cécred, which also unveiled new products in 2026. Here’s a closer look at the offerings from these two powerhouse celebrities and how they compare.

Beyoncé created her luxurious Cécred hair-care line in 2024

In February 2024, Beyoncé introduced her Cécred hair-care line, the culmination of six years dedicated to product development and salon trials. This brand is marketed as a luxurious, scientifically-supported system that caters to a diverse range of hair types, with a focus on promoting scalp health, repair, and hydration.

Cécred made its entry into the market with the release of its Foundation Collection. This initial offering comprises an array of eight products, including a Clarifying Shampoo and Scalp Scrub, Hydrating Shampoo, Moisturizing Deep Conditioner, Reconstructing Treatment Mask, Fermented Rice and Rose Protein Ritual, Moisture-Sealing Lotion, Nourishing Hair Oil, and Restoring Hair & Edge Drops. These formulations are built around a unique bioactive keratin ferment technology, specifically designed to reinforce and rejuvenate damaged hair.

As reported by Allure, a Cécred press release emphasized the brand’s commitment to addressing the specific needs of textured hair, akin to Beyoncé’s. “Throughout my life and career, I’ve styled my hair in numerous ways: natural, flat-ironed, braids, colored, weaves, wigs. I want everyone to have the freedom to express their hair in ways that make them feel good, so I started by creating the essentials for hair and scalp health,” stated the release.

Beyoncé’s hair-care line is crafted to deliver a comprehensive system for moisturizing, fortifying, and repairing hair. The pricing reflects its premium quality, yet remains accessible. Travel and single-use products are priced up to $30, while shampoos and conditioners fall within the $30 to $40 range. Treatments and masks are offered between $40 and $56, providing a range of options for consumers seeking luxury hair care.

Beyoncé’s brand is all about its full system for moisturizing, strengthening, repairing, and treating hair. Additionally, the products’ price ranges reflect this premium yet still accessible vibe. Travel and single-use items are up to $30, while the shampoos and conditioners range from $30 to $40. Treatments and masks go from $40 to $56.

Cardi B started her Grow-Good Beauty hair line in April 2026

Cardi B launched her hair-care brand, Grow-Good Beauty, in April 2026, as her debut into the beauty industry. The brand is heavily inspired by her Dominican and Bronx roots, as well as homemade recipes she previously shared with fans. Grow-Good Beauty is designed as a science-meets-cultural hair-care system that Cardi developed over several years in collaboration with cosmetic labs. It features Fiberlace, which the press release describes as “a proprietary, plant-derived hair restoration complex developed to reinforce the hair fibers,” according to People.

“When I was younger, I really used to hate my hair,” Cardi B shared to Beauty Inc., according to Black Enterprise. “Now that I’m older, I grew to love it and appreciate it. I wanted to create something that helps people feel confident about their texture.”

Cardi’s hair-care “Core Collection” is a four-step system that includes two shampoos — Wash Cycle and Wash Cycle+ — formulated to cleanse the scalp while reinforcing the hair fiber. It also includes two conditioners — Soft Serve and Soft Serve+ — designed for hydration and detangling. The collection is completed by the Get Rich Mask, a deep-conditioning treatment inspired by Cardi’s viral homemade hair masks. The Everything Serum serves as a heat protectant and anti-frizz shield.

The Wash Cycle and Wash Cycle+ shampoos are just $14.99 each, as are the conditioners. The Get Rich Mask is $19.99. And the Everything Serum is $17.99.

Which hair-care system is best?

All in all, the hair-care system that is best depends on the needs of the consumer. Beyoncé’s line heavily focuses on fermentation science, while Cardi B’s line is inspired by natural ingredients. Beyoncé’s system also has an entire wash-day system in place, whereas Cardi’s hair-care line involves a more simplified approach.

As far as pricing is concerned, Cardi’s Grow-Good Beauty line is more accessible and has more mass-market appeal. Beyoncé’s Cécred system leans more into luxury hair-care territory.

No matter which direction consumers go, they’re sure to be happy with the results.

Florida Parents Arrested for Alleged Child Abuse: Bodycam Footage Reveals Shocking Incident Involving 6-Year-Old

0

A troubling incident unfolded in Volusia County, Florida, as deputies took action following a concerning report from a local school.

Authorities detained two individuals, Jeffrey Morales and Melissa Husk, on Friday after their six-year-old daughter arrived at school with noticeable bruises on her face, raising alarms among school staff.

According to a statement from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) on social media, deputies were dispatched to the school after the girl’s injuries were observed, prompting an urgent investigation into the matter.

This story continues below.

VCSO officials disclosed that the young girl was a victim of physical abuse, which her parents allegedly attempted to conceal by keeping her home from school for two days. The child also reportedly informed investigators that she often goes hungry.

Following the investigation, deputies arrested 29-year-old Jeffrey Morales on charges of child abuse, while 35-year-old Melissa Husk faces charges of child neglect. Authorities allege that Husk was aware of the abuse but chose to conceal the situation rather than take action to protect her daughter.

“You’re her mom and you’re supposed to protect her, and you failed,” a deputy sergeant tells Husk on bodycam after explaining her charge.

Watch the bodycam video below:

The video also shows the moments the girl draws a picture for the sergeant who responded to the call, handing it to her. VCSO says the sergeant will be keeping the picture in her patrol car.

UCLA Baseball Shatters Records with Unprecedented 20-Game Big Ten Winning Streak

0

Earlier this week, UCLA’s baseball team saw their remarkable national winning streak come to an end. However, on Saturday, they managed to keep their impressive Big Ten streak alive, though it wasn’t without its challenges.

The Bruins found themselves trailing Minnesota by two runs after missing a prime opportunity, loading the bases with no outs but failing to capitalize. In need of a rally, UCLA turned to Mulivai Levu, who delivered just what the team needed. With two outs and two strikes, Levu hit a crucial two-run double to right field, igniting a four-run sixth inning that ultimately led to a 6-4 victory at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

With this win, the top-ranked Bruins improved their record to 35-3 and extended their winning streak in Big Ten play to 20 games, marking the best start in conference history for the program.

Mulivai Levu was more than happy to provide it, smacking a two-out, two-strike, two-run double to right field as part of a four-run sixth inning that powered UCLA to a 6-4 victory at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Bruins (35-3) have now won 20 consecutive games to open Big Ten play, extending their best conference start in program history.

“You usually don’t sit here in the middle of April and you haven’t lost a league game,” said UCLA coach John Savage, whose team’s 27-game winning streak was broken by UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday.

Levu and Roman Martin each tallied two hits and two RBIs for the Bruins. Leadoff hitter Dean West and Roch Cholowsky each reached base four times.

Payton Brennan started UCLA’s big sixth inning with a homer to right field. After Trey Gudoy walked and Cholowsky was hit by a pitch with two outs, Levu delivered his big hit, giving the Bruins a 4-3 lead. Martin followed with a run-scoring single to extend the advantage.

“Comebacks have been a huge part of our game,” Levu said. “I think we’re just a team that doesn’t give up.”

What it means

Savage pinpointed his team’s relentlessness in the face of adversity.

After striking out in his first two at-bats, Martin followed with a pair of run-scoring singles and made a strong throw across the infield to record an out.

“The day’s never over with, and that’s what our guys really believe in,” Savage said. “They put up two [runs to start the sixth inning], we put up four. It seems that we never give up.”

Savage said he was encouraged that his team continued to win while not playing its best baseball.

“Good teams, when they don’t play well and win games, that’s why they’re good teams,” Savage said, “so at the end of the day, you just kind of keep plugging away and you’ll get through that and get back to being us.”

Did you see that?

UCLA right fielder Brennan robbed Minnesota’s Jack Bello of an extra-base hit leading off the fifth inning with a leaping catch in front of the wall.

MVP

More than an hour after he delivered his big hit, Levu passed out Rice Krispies treats made by his aunt outside the clubhouse.

He was in a giving mood all day for a team that needed it.

With two on and two out in the sixth inning, Levu said he anticipated Minnesota reliever Tyler Hemmesch’s fateful pitch.

“I was sitting cutter because I knew it was going to come again,” Levu said, “so I was just trying to elevate the ball this time and try to make contact.”

Up next

The Bruins will try to sweep the Golden Gophers (22-16, 5-12) — and extend their conference winning streak — on Sunday at Jackie Robinson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for noon.

Breaking News: Tucker Carlson’s Son Departs JD Vance’s White House Team – Here’s Why

0

Buckley Carlson, son of prominent conservative figure Tucker Carlson, has resigned from his position as deputy press secretary to Vice President JD Vance. This move coincides with his father’s intensifying conflict with President Donald Trump.

The news of Carlson’s resignation was initially covered by Politico, highlighting the growing discord between Trump and Tucker Carlson.

The friction has been exacerbated by significant disagreements regarding policies on the Iran war, further inflamed by Tucker Carlson’s provocative remark branding the president as potentially the ‘antichrist.’

Moving forward, Buckley Carlson intends to establish his own political consulting venture.

A representative from Vance’s office disclosed to the publication that, “Buckley communicated his decision to leave in December but remained for several months to ensure a seamless transition.”

His departure comes as his father, who was once one of Trump’s most influential media allies, has turned into one of his fiercest critics, particularly over the administration’s military campaign against Iran.

Behind the scenes, Tucker Carlson had attempted to stop the war days before Trump launched attacks.

According to The New York Times, he was among the ‘few voices lobbying against military action’ and personally warned Trump of the consequences.

The outlet reported on March 2 that Carlson ‘outlined the risks to US military personnel, energy prices and Arab partners in the region if the United States went to war with Iran,’ and urged the president not to be ‘boxed in by Israel,’ arguing that its push for confrontation was driving US policy.

Carlson’s advice was ignored and in the weeks since, the former Fox News host has unleashed a barrage of criticism, accusing the administration of waging war on behalf of Israel and denouncing the joint US-Israeli strikes that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as ‘absolutely disgusting and evil.’

Trump has responded with characteristic fury.

In a series of public attacks, the president has repeatedly mocked Carlson, calling him a ‘low IQ’ person and, in a Truth Social post earlier this month, lumped him together with other conservative commentators.

‘I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years,’ Trump wrote. ‘Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs.

‘They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too! … They’ve all been thrown off Television… they’re NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS.’

Days later, Trump doubled down, calling Carlson a ‘LOSER’ and suggesting he ‘should see a good psychiatrist.’

But it was Carlson’s own words that detonated the most extraordinary escalation yet.

On a recent episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, the conservative firebrand broke sharply with the president over religion, accusing Trump of ‘mocking’ Christianity after sharing AI-generated images depicting himself alongside Jesus.

Carlson pointed to biblical warnings about a future figure described as a ‘man of lawlessness,’ often interpreted by some Christians as the antichrist – someone who ‘will oppose and exalt himself over everything that is worshipped.’

‘He will pose as God,’ Carlson said on the show. ‘He will mock other Gods, and put himself in their place.’

Referencing those passages, Carlson posed a question that sent shockwaves through conservative circles: ‘Could this be the antichrist?’

‘To a lot of Christians, these predictions in both the Old and New Testament seem to fit what we are watching… Here is a leader who is mocking the Gods of his ancestors… and exalting himself above them,’ he added.

Trump’s post showing himself with Jesus came days after the president also sparked backlash by sharing an image appearing to depict himself as Christ.

The image showed Trump in a white cloak healing a man in a hospital bed, which Trump later claimed was meant to show him as a doctor and not as Jesus.

Carlson was one of Fox News’s biggest stars until his abrupt firing in 2023 and was once close to Trump, whose views he was credited with strongly influencing.

The star has gone on to host a successful podcast and blasted Trump over his support of Israel and the bombing of Iran.

The remarks marked a dramatic break from a commentator who once championed Trump and was widely seen as helping shape the populist wing of the Republican Party.

While there is no indication Buckley Carlson’s departure was directly tied to his father’s comments, the overlap in timing, between his exit, the intensifying Trump-Carlson feud, and the incendiary ‘antichrist’ remarks underscores the growing instability within a movement once defined by its alignment behind Trump.

Trump also sparked furious backlash after he posted an AI-generated image seemingly depicting himself as Jesus Christ earlier this week

The fallout has rippled through the conservative ecosystem and placed Vice President JD Vance in an increasingly delicate position.

Right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro, who has his own ongoing feud with Carlson, said last week that people should ‘feel a little bit bad’ for Vance, noting that Carlson ‘helped’ him rise politically.

But Shapiro argued Vance must now distance himself, warning that continuing to ‘honor garbage’ like Carlson risks fracturing the coalition Republicans need to win upcoming elections.

That fracture now appears to have reached inside the administration itself.

US Appeals Court Greenlights Ongoing Construction of Trump’s White House Ballroom

WASHINGTON – A federal appeals court has granted President Donald Trump the green light to proceed with the $400 million ballroom project at the White House. This decision arrived just a day after a lower court judge had imposed a halt on the above-ground construction activities on the former East Wing site.

On Friday evening, a trio of judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit temporarily suspended the ruling by U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, which had stopped part of the construction. The appellate court has slated a hearing for June 5 to further deliberate on the case.

Judge Leon, in his Thursday decision, maintained a restriction on the above-ground development of the planned 90,000-square-foot (8,400-square-meter) ballroom addition. However, he permitted the continuation of underground work, including the construction of a bunker and other “national security facilities” at the location.

Trump tore down the East Wing last fall to build the massive ballroom in that space. The National Trust for Historic Preservation later sued to block construction, arguing that Trump had overstepped his authority by moving forward with the project without first getting approval from key federal agencies and Congress.

Leon ruled in favor of the nonprofit group at the end of March, but put his decision on hold for a brief period while allowing the underground work to continue. The administration appealed.

Trump has said the ballroom is a long-overdue addition to the White House complex and argues that he has the right to build it because the cost will be covered by donations from wealthy individuals and corporations, though taxpayer dollars will pay for the security aspects.
