Tragic Discovery: Missing Pregnant Woman’s Case Takes Heartbreaking Turn in Texas

0

The family of a 23-year-old woman from Texas, who went missing while in the final stages of her pregnancy, has confirmed her death. She was found in southwest Houston on Thursday.

Ashanti Allen, who was experiencing complications due to a high-risk pregnancy, vanished last Friday after departing from her residence, as detailed in a FOX 26 Houston report.

Authorities discovered a body on Thursday, which Allen’s family has since identified as hers, according to the news outlet.

Edward, Ashanti’s father, expressed his devastation to reporters, saying he has felt numb since receiving the tragic news about his daughter.

Police searched the area where a body was found in Houston on Thursday.

“We [were] hoping for the best, but now we’ve heard the worst,” Edward Allen said. “I don’t think I even processed the fact that my daughter is gone. … I love my baby girl. Only girl, my baby girl. And then she had my only baby grandson.”

He said the 23-year-old graduated from community college and was working at a hospital.

“Her life was going somewhere,” Edward Allen said. “She expecting a baby. I mean, she had baby clothes. I was about to go buy a car seat and stroller and all this other stuff. I mean, she’s just a normal girl, pretty girl, working and trying to live life.”

He added that he believes his daughter was kidnapped before her death.

Video taken at the scene showed authorities scouring a taped-off area, seemingly looking for evidence.

Edward Allen pleaded with the public to call the police if they have any information about what happened to his daughter.

No arrests had been reported as of Thursday afternoon.

Alleged Wife Killer’s Shocking Search for a New Partner Uncovered: A Disturbing Twist in Ongoing Investigation

A man charged with the murder of his wife, whose body was found in a freezer at their Virginia apartment, is now reportedly seeking a new partner. This startling development comes as David Varela, 38, awaits trial for the first-degree murder of 39-year-old Lina Guerra, a case that has captivated attention far beyond the local community.

In February, the Norfolk Police Department formally announced the charges against Varela, which include not only murder but also the concealment of a body to evade detection, according to details from a federal affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime. This case has drawn significant attention, partly due to the international efforts involved in apprehending Varela.

The saga began when authorities responded to a call on February 5 from Guerra’s brother, who had grown concerned after weeks of no contact with his sister. The police arrived at the Icon Norfolk Apartments on East Main Street in Norfolk, Virginia, where they made the grim discovery.

Further complicating matters, Varela, a reservist with the U.S. Navy, had also been unresponsive to his superiors, a departure from his usual conduct, according to the affidavit. This unusual behavior contributed to the urgency of the search that ultimately spanned thousands of miles, culminating in Varela’s arrest by federal authorities.

Authorities learned that her husband, Varela, was an active reservist with the U.S. Navy and was reportedly not responding to calls from his immediate supervisor, which was “unusual behavior for him.”

Officers searched the apartment and found Guerra dead in the kitchen freezer, according to court documents. Her cellphone was in the residence, while Varela’s Tesla was outside in the parking lot.

Authorities conducted an autopsy and ruled that Guerra’s manner of death was homicide by way of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation. Detectives learned, with assistance from federal authorities, that Varela boarded a flight to Hong Kong “on or about Feb. 5, 2026,” with WhatsApp location data “originating” there as well, according to the affidavit.

Investigators also learned that Varela had family in Colombia, though they did not see “any discernible ties” to Hong Kong or China.

Five days after finding Guerra’s body, authorities charged Varela with murder. And on Wednesday, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that Varela was apprehended.

“Mr. Varela has been on the run for over two months attempting to avoid prosecution for these heinous crimes, but justice doesn’t forget,” Patel said.

Guerra also has family in Colombia, and they told Norfolk CBS affiliate WTKR that Varela displayed abusive behavior in the past, such as not allowing her to have a job, have friends, or leave their home alone. He also had allegedly been physically abusive.

“He had hit her previously, but she didn’t tell us because she didn’t want to worry us,” said Guerra’s sister-in-law, Paola Ramirez, through a translator. “He appeared to be very religious, very calm, normal, that’s why this is so shocking; we never imagined he’d do something like this.”

On Friday, the regional outlet said it received a message from a woman in Russia saying she suspected she and her friend had met Varela in Hong Kong.

“I was in Hong Kong with my friends,” the woman — also speaking through a translator — told WTKR. “We met this man while waiting in line at an attraction. He introduced himself as David and said he was looking for a Russian wife.”

When the woman continued talking with the man — alleged to be Varela, who even reportedly planned a trip for her to visit him again — her friend looked him up and found U.S. reports that he was wanted.

“What we saw shocked us and we decided to get in touch with you,” the woman said, providing two phone numbers she said were his. When the outlet’s investigative reporter used Telegram to call him via video, they said a man who seemed to be Varela picked up.

Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi has previously expressed his desire to extradite Varela to Virginia to face his charges.

Chilling Testimony: Daughter Reveals Mother’s Deadly Smoothie Plot in Court

0

A mother allegedly instructed her daughter to act as a lookout while she secretly mixed a lethal dose of drugs into her son’s smoothie, a court was informed.

Maree Mavis Crabtree stands accused of ending the life of her 26-year-old son, Jonathan, by administering a painkiller overdose on July 19, 2017, at their residence just north of the Gold Coast. Following his death, she reportedly filed an insurance claim worth $125,000.

The 59-year-old faces additional charges, including an alleged attempt on her son’s life earlier that January. Despite these accusations, Crabtree has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder, and fraud as her trial commenced last week at the Brisbane Supreme Court.

On Friday, the jury began reviewing nearly five hours of recorded testimony from Crabtree’s daughter, Tara, which had been documented earlier in the week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The jury on Friday began watching nearly five hours of video evidence from the accused’s daughter Tara Crabtree that was pre-recorded on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tara said she was one year younger than Jonathan at the time he died and living with him and Crabtree.

The jury heard Tara claimed Crabtree crushed up prescription painkiller and anti-anxiety tablets while Jonathan was passed out in bed.

“She cut up fruit and put it in the blender to blend it … watermelon, pretty sure mango, pineapple are the main ones I remember,” said Tara, who has immunity from prosecution.

Tara said Crabtree crushed up tablets with a hammer on a chopping board on the kitchen bench and added the powder to the fruit smoothie along with six bottles of liquid oxycodone opiate painkiller.

“She asked me to keep lookout for my brother. He came out and she gave it to him,” she said.

Crabtree sat in the dock looking at the TV screen located near her feet while her daughter’s evidence was played on Friday.

The jury previously heard Jonathan’s behaviour had been severely affected by injuries he sustained in a car crash.

Crown prosecutor Caroline Marco asked Tara why Crabtree had put drugs in Jonathan’s smoothie.

“He was violent, a horrible person to live with … we would have more peace and live a better life without him, that’s what she said,” Tara said.

The jury previously heard Jonathan co-owned the family home and could not be evicted.

Tara said she had heard Jonathan struggling and making noises after he returned to his room with the smoothie but Crabtree told her not to interfere.

She testified that Crabtree feared she would be arrested and “lose everything” and Tara would be forced to live in a group home if Jonathan survived.

The jury also heard Tara claim Crabtree was concerned about the financial impact of Jonathan being sued by a person he allegedly threatened during a robbery of a pharmacy.

Tara said she was in “shock” after Jonathan died and Crabtree told her not to say anything if the police arrived.

“He committed suicide, that’s what she told me to say,” Tara said.

The jury is due to see video of Crabtree’s defence barrister Angus Edwards cross-examine Tara about her claims.

As Netflix’s thriller series Fake Profile unfolds, it seems like creator Pablo Illanes and his team of writers are drawing inspiration from a hat filled with random plot ideas, crafting the latest season with unpredictable twists and turns. The third season, aptly named “Killer Honeymoon,” appears to focus more on dramatic interludes between steamy scenes rather than a cohesive storyline.

FAKE PROFILE SEASON 3: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

Opening Scene: The curtain rises with Camila Román, played by Carolina Miranda, dancing energetically at her club. Suddenly, the night takes a dark turn as a gunshot echoes, and Camila falls.

Storyline Overview: Flashback to a month earlier, Camila and her partner, Miguel Estévez (portrayed by Rodolfo Salas), are enjoying a romantic getaway at a luxurious resort. As they share a passionate moment on their balcony, they catch sight of a young couple next door, and a mutual acknowledgment passes between the two pairs.

During dinner, the young couple, Juanita (played by Asia Ortega) and Rodrigo, announce their engagement and invite Camila and Miguel to join the celebration. The foursome quickly bonds, and the evening escalates to flirtatious exchanges in the hotel’s infinity pool, hinting at potential threesomes or partner swapping. However, the mood changes when Miguel notices a distinctive scar on Rodrigo’s back. This, coupled with Rodrigo’s use of the nickname “Micky,” triggers Miguel’s memory—they have a history together.

Meanwhile, Ángela Ferrer (Manuela González) is on the run, evading murder charges. With her girlfriend, Vannessa (Lidia San Jose), by her side, Ángela is determined to reassure her partner. She promises that they will reunite with their children and insists that nothing will come between them.

Miguel’s mood towards Camilia turns after that initial encounter with Juanita and Rodrigo, but he can’t tell her the real reason why he’s upset; instead, he frets that she decided to open up their relationship without discussing it first.

Indira (Alejandra Borrero), a police detective, is taken off the case against Ángela by her boss, but when someone who was involved with the murders she’s accused of wakes up from his coma, he insists on talking to Indira. That’s when he admits to something that completely changes the nature of the case. Meanwhile, back at the Riviera Esmerelda, a new au pair named Becky (Laura Osma) uses her skills to get Miguel’s teenage son to reveal where his mother, Ángela, is hiding out.

Fake Profile

What Shows Will It Remind You Of? Created by Pablo Illanes, Fake Profile is a combination of Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct.

Our Take: The third season of Fake Profile has a lot of characters, a lot of plot threads, a ton of unsolved killings, and definitely some predictable mysteries, like just how Miguel and Rodrigo know each other. We’re not even sure how the plots intersect anymore. They may not. We didn’t even mention a third major plot because we’re not even sure we remember who those characters were from the second season. A fourth plot involves a singer named Noa (Penelope Guerrero), who wows when she auditions at Camila’s club. How Noa knows Camila and how she’ll factor into the craziness is yet to be seen.

But, of course, there’s a whole lot of steaminess, and only in a show like Fake Profile could someone cover up seeing someone from his past that he wanted to keep in the past by saying that he didn’t appreciate the threesome or foursome or whatever it was that was developing in the pool.

Fake Profile S3
Photo: Netflix

Performance Worth Watching: We still somehow appreciate how Carolina Miranda, who plays Camila, manages to play all of this craziness straight without a hint of campiness.

Sex And Skin: Yes and yes. Lots of both.

Parting Shot: Indira gets a call and finds Ángela in a cage hanging over the floor of a warehouse.

Sleeper Star: Penelope Guerrero’s performance as Noa was fun to watch, and we hope that smoky singing voice we heard was hers and not the voice of someone dubbing it in.

Most Pilot-y Line: The entire show is silly as hell, so to pinpoint one moment seems like a futile exercise.

Our Call: SKIP IT. Fake Profile has finally collapsed under the weight of its own silliness, because the third season has so many incoherent plots, it was hard to even concentrate on who was doing what to whom.

Justice for Haroon Arrasheed: Family Sues Driver in Fatal Calumet Heights Crash on Stony Island Avenue

0

In a tragic turn of events earlier this year, a father of four lost his life in a fatal collision on Chicago’s South Side. Now, his grieving family is taking legal action against the driver they allege caused his untimely death.

While the attorney representing the accused driver characterizes the incident as a tragic accident, the victim’s family argues it stemmed from blatant negligence and recklessness.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Three months after the incident, the loss of Haroon Arrasheed continues to weigh heavily on his loved ones.

“It’s heart-wrenching,” said Vina Morris, Arrasheed’s sister. “Haroon was the glue that held our family together. He was a man deeply rooted in his faith.”

Arrasheed, a 50-year-old devoted husband and father to four daughters, met his fate on January 7. According to Chicago police, his Mini Cooper was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of 92nd Street and Stony Island Avenue. At the time, he was on his way to work at a nearby Muslim community center.

“He was a good man, and I believe that he deserve the justice as well as his family,” Masjid Al Farooq Imam Ousmane Drame said.

Arrasheed’s family has now announced a lawsuit against the driver of a Cadillac SUV, 47-year-old Troshawn McCoy, who Chicago police say was driving too fast.

“The behavior of the defendant was not accidental. It was reckless, and his reckless behavior stole a man’s life,” family attorney Rahsaan Gordon said.

The day of the crash, two witnesses told ABC7 they were behind McCoy and another driver, and said both were drag racing for more than a mile.

“They were weaving in and out, and they were stopping at the street lights, but they were peeling off,” a witness said. “The way he was driving, I thought he was going to flip himself.”

Arrasheed’s family has released a video of the T-bone crash, which they’ve frozen before impact.

In response to the lawsuit, McCoy’s attorney said “Although the claims made here are without merit, I know that Mr. McCoy extends his deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Arasheed. This was a tragic accident.”

Police say McCoy was cited for failure to reduce speed, but Arrasheed’s family is calling for serious criminal charges to be filed.

Coworker Rivalry: Employee Accused of Tampering with Water Bottle After Promotion Dispute

0

A man is facing serious charges after reportedly tampering with a coworker’s water bottle and footwear due to dissatisfaction with the colleague’s behavior following a promotion.

Makoto Kuroda, employed in a laboratory at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, has been charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and tampering with household products, as per a university press release.

As of now, it remains unclear from court documents whether Kuroda has entered a plea in response to these charges.

The incident unfolded on April 6, when campus police responded to a report involving the contamination of a water bottle and shoes belonging to an employee at the Influenza Research Institute. This information is detailed in a criminal complaint obtained by Oxygen.

According to the complaint, the male employee, whose identity has not been disclosed, informed police that he had consumed half of the water from his bottle before leaving it on his desk. Upon returning a few days later, he noticed a peculiar smell and taste, prompting him to spit out the water. Additionally, he detected an unusual odor emanating from his shoes, which he suspected to be chloroform.

According to the affidavit, Kuroda admitted he placed the chemicals Trizol and paraformaldehyde into his co-worker’s water bottle and shoes. University officials said in a statement that the chemicals—paraformaldehyde, chloroform and Trizol—are commonly found in research labs, though testing is still ongoing.

Kuroda allegedly told police he was upset over a promotion. After both men moved up the corporate ladder, the victim was promoted again and, per the affidavit, and Kuroda claimed his co-worker’s attitude toward him changed, acting as though he was “better.”

Meanwhile, in an interview with police, the victim said that he and Kuroda were once good friends, but had grown apart, according to the affidavit.

Kuroda has been placed on administrative leave while the university conducts a workplace investigation, with the press release noting, “His access to physical and digital university assets, and his research privileges, have been revoked.”

NFL Reporter Crissy Froyd Dismissed Following Remarks About Dianna Russini

In a surprising turn of events, NFL reporter Dianna Russini has stepped down from her position after vacation photos with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel were revealed, sparking allegations of a romantic relationship.

Crissy Froyd, a sports writer known for her candid opinions, has found herself at the center of controversy. After criticizing Russini, Froyd faced significant professional repercussions, culminating in the termination of her contract with USA Today Sports.

On April 16, USA Today Sports announced, “USA TODAY Sports has ended its contractor relationship with Crissy Froyd effective immediately. Her recent statements do not reflect our commitment to professionalism or uphold our principles of ethical conduct.”

Reacting to her dismissal, Froyd expressed her dismay, telling E! News, “I’m so disappointed.”

Following her firing, Froyd told E! News, “I’m so disappointed.”

“I’ve been with this network for so long and I chose to say one thing about a woman for something unethical she did,” the 26-year-old said, noting she was an independent contractor. “I’m still in disbelief—absolute disbelief.”

Since pictures of Russini and Vrabel, who are separately married to other people, were published by Page Six April 7 showing the pair sharing what appeared to be a rooftop dance with their fingers interlocked, they both downplayed the photos in statements to the outlet. In fact, Vrabel called them “completely innocent,” while Russini said the pictures “don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day.”

Revitalize Your Inner Thighs: Top 5 Bed Exercises for Faster Toning After 55

0

Revitalize Your Inner Thighs with a Trainer’s 5-Step Bedtime Routine for Over 55s

After the age of 55, many people are surprised to find that their inner thigh strength diminishes more quickly than anticipated. This is often because daily activities don’t specifically engage these muscles, and common exercises such as squats tend to focus more on the quadriceps and glutes. As a seasoned trainer with years of experience working with clients in this age group, I’ve noticed a recurring theme: inner thighs thrive on targeted, controlled exercises that maintain tension without the need for heavy weights or complicated equipment.

Exercising in bed provides the perfect setting for this type of workout. It minimizes stress on the joints and allows you to concentrate solely on engaging and controlling the muscles. Without the added challenge of balancing or stabilizing your entire body, you can effectively isolate your inner thighs and ensure the tension is directed precisely where it should be.

One of the significant benefits of this routine is its consistency. The exercises are both accessible and comfortable, which encourages daily practice. With regular stimulation, the inner thigh muscles can regain strength and tone much more quickly than if they were only exercised sporadically.

Another major advantage comes from consistency. These movements feel accessible and comfortable, which makes it easier to perform them daily. When the inner thigh muscles receive that kind of regular activation, they rebuild strength and tone much faster than with occasional workouts.

The following exercises focus on squeezing, controlling, and strengthening the inner thighs through simple but highly effective movements. Move slowly, stay deliberate, and concentrate on that squeeze during every rep.

Lying Inner Thigh Squeeze

This exercise directly targets the inner thighs through controlled contraction, making it one of the most effective movements for restoring tone. I use it often because it teaches clients how to actively engage these muscles instead of letting stronger muscle groups take over. Many people don’t realize how underused the inner thighs become until they try to contract them intentionally.

Placing a pillow or ball between the knees and squeezing creates immediate tension. Holding that contraction forces the muscles to stay engaged rather than relaxing between reps. Over time, this consistent activation improves strength, control, and muscle tone. The simplicity of the movement makes it easy to repeat daily, which accelerates results.

How to Do It

  • Lie on your back with knees bent
  • Place a pillow between your knees
  • Squeeze your knees together
  • Hold for 3–5 seconds
  • Release slowly and repeat.

Side-Lying Inner Leg Lifts

This movement isolates the inner thigh on the lower leg, which often gets overlooked in traditional workouts. I rely on this exercise because it forces the muscle to work independently, without help from the outer hip or quads.

Lifting the bottom leg upward creates a focused contraction through the inner thigh. Performing the movement slowly keeps the muscle under tension and prevents momentum from taking over. Many clients feel a strong burn quickly, which signals that the right muscles are finally doing the work.

How to Do It

  • Lie on your side with top leg bent forward
  • Keep bottom leg straight
  • Lift the bottom leg upward
  • Lower slowly
  • Repeat, then switch sides.

Lying Leg Slides With Squeeze

This exercise combines movement with inner thigh activation, making it highly effective for building both strength and control. I include it often because it trains the muscles to stay engaged while the legs move, something that carries over into real-life movement.

Sliding the legs outward and then back together forces the inner thighs to contract during the return phase. That controlled squeeze builds strength while improving coordination. Over time, this helps restore both tone and function.

How to Do It

  • Lie on your back with legs extended
  • Slide legs slightly apart
  • Bring them back together with a squeeze
  • Move slowly and with control
  • Repeat steadily.

Bent-Knee Inner Thigh Pulses

This movement keeps constant tension on the inner thighs through small, controlled pulses. I use it because it increases time under tension without requiring large movements or added resistance.

Keeping the knees bent reduces strain while allowing you to focus on squeezing the inner thighs repeatedly. These small pulses build endurance and help the muscles stay active longer. Over time, this improves tone and control throughout the inner thigh area.

How to Do It

  • Lie on your back with knees bent
  • Bring knees together
  • Pulse your knees inward slightly
  • Keep tension throughout
  • Repeat continuously.

Lying Single-Leg Adduction

This final movement isolates one inner thigh at a time, helping correct imbalances and build strength evenly. I often finish routines with this exercise because it reinforces control and muscle awareness.

Moving one leg inward across the body forces the inner thigh to contract fully. Performing the movement slowly increases tension and improves effectiveness. Over time, this helps create balanced strength and better muscle tone.

How to Do It

  • Lie flat with one leg straight
  • Cross the opposite leg over
  • Lift the bottom leg slightly
  • Lower slowly
  • Repeat, then switch sides.

D4vd Detained in Connection with 14-Year-Old Celeste Rivas’ Murder Investigation

0

The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed the arrest of singer D4vd in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas. This development was announced on Thursday.

According to an official statement from the LAPD, detectives from its Robbery-Homicide Division took David Burke, a 21-year-old Los Angeles resident, into custody. Burke, who performs under the stage name D4vd, is currently being held without bail on suspicion of Rivas’s murder.

The case is set to be reviewed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Monday, where further legal proceedings will be determined.

In response to the arrest, D4vd’s legal team has issued a statement asserting his innocence. They firmly deny that he was involved in Rivas’s death.

“No grand jury has returned an indictment in this case, nor has any criminal complaint been filed,” the statement reads. “David has been detained solely on suspicion, and we are committed to vigorously defending his innocence.”

D4vd’s arrest comes months after Rivas’s remains were discovered in the front trunk of a Tesla that had been impounded at a Hollywood tow yard. Police say the vehicle was registered to D4vd.

D4vd was officially named as a suspect in the killing in February, per unsealed court documents. In petitions demanding his parents testify in front of a Los Angeles County grand jury, D4vd was described as a ‘target’ in the death of Rivas.

‘Target may be involved in having committed the following criminal offenses…: One Count of Murder,’ the petition said.

The grand jury investigation into D4vd began in mid-November. Jurors were presented evidence by prosecutors and relevant individuals were called testify, including D4vd’s managers and a friend of D4vd, Neo Langston.

Rivas’s family said she was last seen in the spring of 2024, when she left her Lake Elsinore home. She was 13 at the time.

Rivas’s remains were discovered last September because the Tesla that allegedly belonged to D4vd was left on a public street for more than 72 hours, according to the LAPD.

Neighbors said the Tesla was moved several times over the preceding three months before it was left on Bluebird Avenue in the Hollywood Hills.

It was then impounded and taken to Hollywood Tow. Employees at the tow yard began to notice a stench coming from the vehicle and called police on September 8, 2025.

Rivas’s decomposing body was found in the Tesla by investigators, who said she had been dismembered.

She was found days after what would have been her 15th birthday, but police believe she likely died much earlier, possibly in the spring of 2025.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said Rivas was wearing black leggings, a tube top, a yellow metal chain bracelet and stud earrings when she was found.

Based on testimony from her friends and family, it is believed Rivas was in a romantic relationship with D4vd.

Rivas’s mother, who reported her missing three different times throughout 2024, has said her daughter was dating a guy she never met named ‘David’.

It’s also been reported that the two shared matching ‘Sshhh’ tattoos on their right index fingers.

Friends of D4vd have told TMZ that the two were ‘frequently’ seen together. They also believed he and Rivas were romantically involved.

After Rivas’s death, the lyrics of D4vd’s songs were the subject of much scrutiny due to their violent nature.

In one of his most popular singles, ‘Romantic Homicide’, he sings about a love interest of his no longer being around.

‘In the back of my mind, I killed you… And I didn’t even regret it… I can’t believe I said it… But it’s true… I hate you,’ were the final words of the 2022 song.
