While traditional ab workouts often emphasize floor exercises, they might not fully engage your core in the most beneficial way. Standing exercises demand that your core stabilizes your body as it moves, particularly when your legs and arms are in motion. This method of training not only targets your abs but also enhances how your body maintains tension throughout daily activities.

Many fitness enthusiasts default to mat-based routines when aiming to tone their midsection. Although these exercises can be effective, incorporating standing movements introduces a new level of challenge. Your core remains engaged as you perform lifts, hinges, and weight shifts, providing a comprehensive workout that better reflects real-life movements and can lead to noticeable improvements in your posture and strength beyond the gym.

In my experience with clients, this approach resonates well because it mirrors natural body movements. By training in everyday positions, your core remains active throughout the routine. As this becomes habitual, your midsection starts to feel more supported and toned, eliminating the need for countless repetitions.

From what I’ve seen working with clients, this approach tends to click because it feels more natural. You’re training your body in positions you use every day, and your core stays active the entire time. When that becomes consistent, your midsection starts to feel tighter and more supported without needing to chase endless reps.

These five standing exercises bring your core into full-body movement, so you’re building strength while firming your midsection. You’ll train your legs, upper body, and hips while your core stays engaged from start to finish. Stick with these, and you’ll start to notice that tension carries over into how you stand, move, and hold your posture.

Goblet Squats

Goblet squats bring your core and lower body together, helping build strength while keeping your torso upright. Holding the weight in front of your body keeps your core engaged as you move through the squat. That engagement helps tighten your midsection while your legs do the work. You’ll also notice how your posture stays more controlled from start to finish. Staying consistent here builds strength and awareness simultaneously. Over time, that shows up in how your body holds itself throughout the day.

Muscles Trained: Quadriceps, glutes, core, and upper back

How to Do It:

  1. Hold a dumbbell or kettlebell at chest height with both hands.
  2. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and keep your chest tall.
  4. Lower your hips down into a squat.
  5. Press through your feet to stand back up.
  6. Repeat for your reps.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

The revelation came during an emotional phone conversation last year with Kayti Edwards, the child’s mother, who shared the news with the legendary singer.

Kayti Edwards, a former model and also the granddaughter of actress Julie Andrews, has alleged that she had a brief romantic involvement with Cher’s son, Elijah Allman, 49, back in 2010. This relationship, she claims, resulted in the birth of their daughter, Ever. According to Edwards, Elijah was aware of Ever’s existence and would visit sporadically, although he reportedly did not wish to take on a parental role.

The family’s secret was apparently unveiled in 2021 when Elijah experienced a drug overdose and, during a moment of vulnerability, admitted to his now-estranged wife, Marieangela King, that he had a child.

As rumors circulated within the family, Cher eventually reached out to Kayti last year seeking the truth. Upon confirming the news, she was said to be left “speechless” by the realization that she is indeed a grandmother.

‘She said she had heard something about it from Elijah back in 2021, but didn’t know if it was just crazy talk,’ Kayti told The Sun.

‘When she heard the news, she was speechless. Cher told her family, “Oh my God, I’m finally a grandma”.’ 

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Cher for comment. 

It comes just one day after Cher asked the court to appoint a temporary conservator for her son Elijah following a series of financial, legal, and drug-related crises. 

In court documents obtained by the Daily Mail on Friday, the singer – who shares Elijah with her late ex-husband musician Gregg Allman – revealed that her son is currently locked in a psychiatric hospital, describing his life as having ‘significantly deteriorated’ since she first filed for conservatorship in 2023. 

Cher detailed an alarming incident in which Elijah was found unconscious behind the wheel of his car, causing a traffic jam, and was subsequently hospitalised where Narcan was administered to save his life. 

The Believe singer also expressed concern over Elijah’s financial behaviour, claiming he ‘has no concept of money, is unable to manage his financial resources and is unable to withstand fraud or undue influence.’

According to Cher, her son owes $18,000 to a drug dealer and had to borrow money from a friend to avoid further harm.

In addition to his drug issues, Elijah is facing a mounting $200,000 tax bill.

He has also accumulated significant debt after causing damage to various Airbnbs, including cigarette burns and broken windows, as outlined in the court documents.

Cher claims Elijah owes $50,000 from his last Airbnb stay after he reportedly trashed the property.

She also says he’s been banned from 18 hotels for disturbing guests, screaming obscenities, and behaving erratically.

In one disturbing incident, Elijah allegedly cornered a young female maid at a hotel and ‘aggressively proposed sexual relations.’ 

Elijah has also faced recent legal issues, including multiple arrests in New Hampshire for charges of ‘felony burglary, criminal mischief, simple assault, criminal trespass, and breach of bail.’ 

Cher is requesting that the judge appoint fiduciary Jason Rubin as the temporary conservator of Elijah’s estate, stressing that her son’s situation has become dire. 

She explains that Elijah’s mental health has ‘severely deteriorated’ and his drug dependency is at its worst.

Cher wants Rubin to oversee Elijah’s affairs so that his issues ‘can start being fixed one problem at a time.’

The 35-year-old musician, with an estimated fortune of £370 million, began this musical journey in Auckland, New Zealand, this past January.

Reports from The Mirror reveal that the hitmaker sold an incredible 754,050 tickets over a period of seven weeks, concluding this segment of the tour with a final performance in Adelaide, Australia, in March.

According to the music analytics company Pollstar, the Oceania leg of the tour alone amassed a breathtaking £74.2 million in ticket sales.

This segment included 17 shows across eight different stadiums, achieving an average revenue of £5.32 million per concert.

Those figures do not include additional income from sponsorships and merchandise, while the average ticket price came in at £98.40.

It comes after the Daily Mail reported that Ed is set to bank £12million after closing down his touring firm. 

The singer filed accounts at Companies House on April 7 to wind down his Hayagota-tourboi Touring LLP company. 

The firm has banked over £400million since it was first set up in 2012 and the most recently filed accounts for 2024 showed a turnover of £40.3million.

After settling its debts, the firm had a profit of £12.5million which will go to Ed when the company has been closed. 

The hitmaker also set up a new firm called Gingerbread Touring last year – likely the new company where he will put his tour earnings.

Ed recently revealed his wife Cherry Seaborn is ‘on the other side’ of her cancer journey as he reflected on the moment he found out about her diagnosis.

Doctors discovered Cherry had a tumour in her arm in February 2022 while she was six months pregnant with their second child, daughter Jupiter.

In the same week Cherry found out she had cancer, Ed’s best friends Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne died suddenly and a court case launched over his song Shape Of You, where Ed was accused of plagiarising and which he later won.

After Ed and Cherry, 32, who wed in 2019, welcomed Jupiter into the world, the mother-of-two had an operation to remove the tumour.

Sharing an update on his wife’s health, Ed explained: ‘The day Cherry rung me up and said that she had cancer, that was probably one of the worst days.

‘That was probably the worst week because Jamal died that week as well and then we went straight into the court case. And then Shane died.

‘She’s fine, I mean she had the operation. She was pregnant at the time so that’s why it was difficult.

‘She had the operation to remove the tumour after she’d given birth to our second child. Thankfully, touch wood, totally fine.’

Ed chatted to Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco on an episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast.

When Cherry first sought medical help, she was initially told by a doctor ‘this is really bad’ and that she had cancer.

The mother-of-two immediately rang Ed telling him to cancel all of his plans, while they waited an agonising month long wait for the full report.

But Cherry was told there were no treatment plans that would work with her pregnancy.

After a sequencing test was done on the tumour, the couple found it was much less severe than what was thought originally and surgery could be done after she had given birth to Jupiter.

Cherry said in Ed’s Disney+ documentary: ‘It was the most incredible news. I nearly threw up when the surgeon told us we could wait to the end of the pregnancy to get the tumour out.

‘We didn’t have to worry about delivering the baby early.’

Ed and Cherry went on to welcome Jupiter and announced her arrival in May 2022 with a sweet Instagram post. The couple are also proud parents to Lyra, four.

In Ed’s documentary, Cherry gave an update on her health after going for a check-up appointment months after the initial surgery – and was thrilled when she was told the tumour hadn’t come back.

She said: ‘Yesterday I had follow up scan in my arm to see if the tumour had come back. We were silent in the car as we were worried it would be bad.

‘It was super triggering being in the same room when things weren’t so positive at the start of the year. The surgeon looked at the scans and it all looks good. The lymph nodes have all calmed down. That was amazing. It was massive for us.’

Ricardo Costa, the CEO and partner at Luximos Christie’s International Real Estate, shared insights with the Daily Mail, noting, “Porto has been elected by Americans as one of their favorite cities in Europe. Our foreign buyers are increasingly American.”

He observed a marked shift in perception, recounting how Americans used to say, “I heard about Portugal.” Now, they’re saying, “Yes, I’ve been there, I bought a house there, I’m going next month.”

Costa attributes Porto’s growing appeal to its unique blend of a relaxed yet energetic lifestyle. “We offer a kind of relaxed lifestyle, but not as laid-back as other European cities,” he explained. “Americans are used to a faster pace, and here in the north, we tend to align with that vibe.”

By 2023, around 10,000 Americans were living in Portugal and the number continues to grow due to the affordability and safety that the country offers, as well as a change in lifestyle, the American Emigration Revue, that examines American emigration, said. 

Luxury real estate advisor Anastasia Kolomiets of The Agency spoke about the draw of the city to Mansion Global and said that as well as the Douro Valley wine region being about 90 miles away, Porto is very affordable but it also boasts the most Michelin-starred restaurants in the country. 

‘Think coffee for €1 ($1.10), a glass of wine for €4 ($4.70) and cheap Ubers,’ she said.

‘The Algarve and Lisbon had always drawn foreign buyers, but Porto is a more intelligent market – less packed and underrated. But it’s growing fast,’ Kolomiets added.

When buying a home it often means that people get more for their money than in the US. ‘If you compare it to the US, it’s inexpensive… you can buy properties for a fraction of the price,’ Costa said.

He added that a home at around 1,150 to 2,700 sq ft would have a starting price of around €1.5 million ($1.7 million) to €5 million ($5.8 million) if it sits on the waterfront. 

Costa boasted that the architecture is also one of features that attracts people and it has a lot of British influence, he said. 

‘This is not a typical southern European city like many others… you feel that you are in Europe, but the architecture matches more Central Europe, like a romantic style, gothic style,’ he continued. 

‘You’re in Europe, but you don’t feel like you’re in a resort… you don’t feel like you are on the coastline of Marbella or the Algarve. It’s great, absolutely great, but here it’s different.’ 

Much of what he believes has influenced a move from many Americans has been more flexible work opportunities since the covid pandemic.

‘Portugal has this nomad visa… we are able to attract a lot of people from IT, meaning that they pay very low taxes. Someone who works with Google can work anywhere,’ Costa said.

He believes that Portugal has got more on people’s vacation radar through social media and this has influenced much of the migration trend as people go there on holiday and then decide to stay.

‘Portugal has been more in the spotlight for the last ten-plus years… it became trendy,’ he said.

UK Police Report Attempted Antisemitic Hate Crime at London Synagogue

Authorities in London are actively searching for two masked individuals involved in an attempted arson at a synagogue, an incident currently being investigated as an antisemitic hate crime.

The Metropolitan Police of the United Kingdom reported that the suspects, clad in dark attire and wearing balaclavas, targeted the synagogue in Finchley shortly after midnight on Wednesday. They hurled two bottles, which are believed to have contained petrol, along with a brick at the building.

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams acknowledged the distress this event might cause, especially following a similar arson attack in Golders Green last month. “We are collaborating with the affected synagogue and maintaining dialogue with community leaders,” he stated, emphasizing the seriousness with which such incidents are treated. “Our detectives are working diligently to identify those responsible,” he assured.

Police said neither bottle ignited and no damage or injuries were reported. 

British prosecutors earlier this month charged three suspects — ages 17, 19 and 20 — in an alleged arson attack targeting Jewish community ambulances in north London. 

The March 23 incident unfolded at around 1:45 a.m. in the Golders Green neighborhood, where four ambulances operated by a volunteer emergency service serving the Jewish community were deliberately set ablaze in a synagogue parking lot.

In the latest incident, the Metropolitan Police said no arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon local time. 

“If you have any CCTV, dash cam footage or information that could help officers please contact the police,” Williams said.

Chrissy Teigen transformed her daughter Luna’s 10th birthday into an exclusive fashion experience.

On April 14, the model accompanied Luna to The Daily Front Row’s 10th Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards, held at The Beverly Hills Hotel. This event doubled as a birthday celebration, aligning perfectly with Luna’s milestone of turning ten. The evening was a blend of stylish festivities and cherished mother-daughter bonding.

In a Getty Images snapshot, Teigen dazzled in a chic white suit paired with a bronze bralette, while Luna embraced elegance in a black one-shoulder dress. The duo remained inseparable throughout the event, sharing moments of hand-holding and attentive whispers as they enjoyed the show together.

Leading up to the birthday, Teigen offered a peek into their personal countdown to Luna’s big day. She posted a sweet video on Instagram Stories, capturing Luna snuggling into bed with her mom as they eagerly anticipated the moment she turned ten.

Earlier in the week, Teigen shared a glimpse of how they marked the final hours before Luna turned 10. In a video posted to Instagram Stories, Luna climbed into bed next to her mom as they counted down.

“Last hug of 9,” Luna said before wrapping her arms around Teigen.

Teigen reacted in the moment, joking through it before the realization hit that her oldest child was stepping into a new age.

Luna Simone Stephens was born on April 14, 2016, to Teigen and John Legend. She is the couple’s eldest child, followed by Miles, Esti, and Wren.

 

She is already getting comfortable on camera. In 2024, she led her first sit-down conversation with her dad for Billboard Family at just 8 years old.

The Billboard Family appearance wasn’t a one-off. More recently, she spent time backstage during The Voice, where she went around speaking with contestants and others involved with the show, asking questions and keeping conversations flowing.

Her creativity also extends beyond the camera. She sang on the track “L.O.V.E.” on Legend’s children’s album My Favorite Dream and created the artwork for the single covers tied to the project. Her designs even made their way onto merchandise, including hoodies available through Legend’s store.

North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles toward the sea on Sunday, its neighbours said, the North’s latest weapons testing activity this year.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea conducted missile launches on Sunday morning, originating from the eastern region of Sinpo.

In response, South Korea has heightened its surveillance efforts and is actively sharing intelligence with allies, including the United States and Japan.

Officials from South Korea’s presidential office announced that the National Security Council is set to convene an emergency meeting to address the developments.

Japan’s Defense Ministry also confirmed the missile launches, noting that the projectiles appeared to have fallen into the waters off North Korea’s east coast.

Tokyo has issued a strong protest to Pyongyang, asserting that the missile tests pose a threat to both regional and global peace. The launches contravene United Nations Security Council resolutions, which prohibit North Korea from engaging in any ballistic missile activities.

Last week, North Korea said leader Kim Jong Un supervised missile tests from the country’s destroyer.

After the test, Kim said his government remained focused on the “limitless expansion” of its nuclear forces and issued unspecified new tasks to sharpen the country’s nuclear attack and rapid-response capabilities.

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi said last week that his agency has confirmed “a rapid increase” in activities at nuclear facilities in North Korea.

Cécred made its entry into the market with the release of its Foundation Collection. As reported by Allure, a Cécred press release emphasized the brand’s commitment to addressing the specific needs of textured hair, akin to Beyoncé’s. “Throughout my life and career, I’ve styled my hair in numerous ways: natural, flat-ironed, braids, colored, weaves, wigs. I want everyone to have the freedom to express their hair in ways that make them feel good, so I started by creating the essentials for hair and scalp health,” stated the release.

Beyoncé’s hair-care line is crafted to deliver a comprehensive system for moisturizing, fortifying, and repairing hair. The pricing reflects its premium quality, yet remains accessible. Travel and single-use products are priced up to $30, while shampoos and conditioners fall within the $30 to $40 range. Treatments and masks are offered between $40 and $56, providing a range of options for consumers seeking luxury hair care.

Beyoncé’s brand is all about its full system for moisturizing, strengthening, repairing, and treating hair. Additionally, the products’ price ranges reflect this premium yet still accessible vibe. Travel and single-use items are up to $30, while the shampoos and conditioners range from $30 to $40. Treatments and masks go from $40 to $56.

Cardi B started her Grow-Good Beauty hair line in April 2026

Cardi B launched her hair-care brand, Grow-Good Beauty, in April 2026, as her debut into the beauty industry. The brand is heavily inspired by her Dominican and Bronx roots, as well as homemade recipes she previously shared with fans. Grow-Good Beauty is designed as a science-meets-cultural hair-care system that Cardi developed over several years in collaboration with cosmetic labs. It features Fiberlace, which the press release describes as “a proprietary, plant-derived hair restoration complex developed to reinforce the hair fibers,” according to People.

“When I was younger, I really used to hate my hair,” Cardi B shared to Beauty Inc., according to Black Enterprise. “Now that I’m older, I grew to love it and appreciate it. I wanted to create something that helps people feel confident about their texture.”

Cardi’s hair-care “Core Collection” is a four-step system that includes two shampoos — Wash Cycle and Wash Cycle+ — formulated to cleanse the scalp while reinforcing the hair fiber. It also includes two conditioners — Soft Serve and Soft Serve+ — designed for hydration and detangling. The collection is completed by the Get Rich Mask, a deep-conditioning treatment inspired by Cardi’s viral homemade hair masks. The Everything Serum serves as a heat protectant and anti-frizz shield.

The Wash Cycle and Wash Cycle+ shampoos are just $14.99 each, as are the conditioners. The Get Rich Mask is $19.99. And the Everything Serum is $17.99.

Which hair-care system is best?

All in all, the hair-care system that is best depends on the needs of the consumer. Beyoncé’s line heavily focuses on fermentation science, while Cardi B’s line is inspired by natural ingredients. Beyoncé’s system also has an entire wash-day system in place, whereas Cardi’s hair-care line involves a more simplified approach.

As far as pricing is concerned, Cardi’s Grow-Good Beauty line is more accessible and has more mass-market appeal. Beyoncé’s Cécred system leans more into luxury hair-care territory.
