England Football Stars Seek Support from Partners Following Disappointing Draw

0

England’s national football team found solace in the company of their partners after a stalemate with Ghana left their World Cup hopes hanging. The squad managed only a goalless draw in what was their second match of the tournament.

Captain Harry Kane and his team struggled to find a breakthrough against the 65th-ranked Ghanaian side. Kane missed a crucial opportunity to seal the game, sending the ball soaring over the goal in the closing moments.

The Three Lions’ efforts didn’t satisfy some of the 30,000 dedicated fans who braved rainy weather, as a few voiced their disappointment with chants about the expenses of attending the match.

In the midst of the crowd at Boston Stadium, Jordan Pickford’s wife, Megan, was spotted giving the goalkeeper a supportive kiss as the game concluded with the final whistle.

Prior to kickoff, Megan appeared cheerful, engaging with cameras by waving and blowing kisses. She sported a white mini dress paired with a poncho to brace the weather.

Bukayo Saka also sought comfort from his fiancée Tolami Benson, 25, who donned a custom England outfit. The pair were pictured embracing in the family box at the end of the match.

Other WAGs in attendance included Ashlyn Castro, the 28-year-old girlfriend of midfielder Jude Bellingham, and defender John Stones’ wife Olivia, who wore a Three Lions top.

Ellie Watkins, wife of striker Ollie Watkins, also donned an England cap, and was seen cheerily waving at the camera.

While last night’s result was a huge disappointment for fans, England are still expected to get through to the knockout stages of the World Cup as they are heavy favourites to beat Panama in their final group game on Saturday.

With kick-off not until 9pm, millions packed into pubs across the country to watch the game.

Thousands of venues were allowed to extend their opening hours so fans could enjoy the match with a drink, with projections saying 25 million pints would be pulled.

Millions more cheered on Kane and his team from home, watching the coverage on BBC1.

TV insiders had expected ratings to soar after England’s thrilling 4-2 victory in their opening World Cup match against Croatia last week.

But while fans in England battled the heatwave, those who’d made the journey to Boston had to wade through puddles and dodge heavy downpours before the game.

After the searing heat and humidity of Dallas, where England kicked off their campaign, the Boston clash took place under typically English leaden skies.

Among those splashing through the rain outside the 65,000-capacity stadium in Foxborough was James Reid, 35, from Guildford in Surrey, who said: ‘I can’t believe everyone in England is getting the sunshine.

People in Boston are saying we’ve brought them the British weather.’

US officials have faced criticism for hiking the price of public transport, with train fares costing $80 (£60) instead of the usual $20 (£15).

But England supporters copied their Scottish counterparts by hiring a fleet of iconic yellow school buses to take them to the stadium some 35 miles from downtown Boston and 20 miles from Providence.

At least a dozen coaches and school buses transported fans from Providence to the ground with fans paying a bargain $35 (£26) for the return journey.

Among them was retired British Army officer Lt Colonel Nick Rowles, 68, his wife Gail, 67, travelling with friends.

The couple estimate the trip is costing over £10,000, but they have managed to bag cheaper seats as members of the England Supporters Travel Club.

‘I doubt we will drink Providence dry like the Scots, maybe the younger ones will but we are happy to have a nice, quiet relaxed evening,’ he said.

Paul Scott, 48, is spending £10,000 to watch all three of England’s group matches – a Christmas gift from his wife, Claire.

He said: ‘She knows just how much I’ve wanted to come here.’

Elsewhere, a group of eight fans from Stoke-on-Trent paid £1,900 for two taxis to get them to Boston after their flights from Montreal were cancelled.

England fans booed Ghana’s Thomas Partey – an alleged rapist – before the whistle was blown.

Partey, 33, who used to play for Arsenal, was charged with seven counts of rape and one of sexual assault, and he faces trial in London.

The midfielder, who has since moved to Spanish side Villarreal, denies the charges.

TV pictures cut away from the handshakes as Partey passed each England player. Defender Djed Spence appeared to refuse to shake hands with him.

The England fans also booed the hydration breaks – taken in the rain.

England’s next game is against Panama on Saturday in the stadium in New Jersey, also the venue for the World Cup final on July 19.

Half English and half Ghanaian supporter hails ‘best result’

By Sam Greenhill

A supporter who is half English and half Ghanaian declared after the draw: ‘That was the best result.’

Joe Short, 48, watched the match inside the Boston Stadium with ‘mixed emotions’ as his two home nations battled each other.

The retired management consultant’s nurse mother Senya came to England in the 1960s to work in the NHS, and his father Jim is a retired radio engineer from Farnham, Surrey.

He said: ‘Throughout the match, I was Facetiming my friends in England and messaging my family in Ghana.

‘They were rejoicing back home in Ghana – all the aunties and uncles were overjoyed by the result.’

Mr Short, who wore his Ghana top the first half and his England strip the second half, said: ‘I felt the joy of seeing them together.

‘I felt frustration with England for not breaking through, but also pride in Ghana for managing to hold them off.’

Asked to choose a side, he said: ‘I guess I wanted England to win because they had the best chance. But everybody said I cannot lose. And it was a draw – that was the best result.

‘For Ghana to get the result they did, if they didn’t do anything else in this World Cup, it was enough.’

Mr Short, who has lived in Australia for the past 15 years, was on his own at the Boston game but will now travel to New York for England’s next fixture against Panama where he will be joined by his wife Selina and children Isaac, 14, and Sadie, 12.

Rediscover Muscle Tone at 55+ with These Simple Daily Exercises

0

Looking to tone those muscles after the age of 55? Discover a coach’s four straightforward exercises that you can complete in just 20 minutes each day.

>

Building muscle tone after 55 requires consistent and effective strength exercises. Instead of hopping from one machine to another, choose workouts that simultaneously engage your legs, hips, back, arms, and core. A quick daily routine can effectively signal to your body the importance of strength without monopolizing your time.

As your coach, I recommend a routine focused on four key movements: the hinge, lunge, pull, and brace. Start with the kettlebell deadlift, perfect for strengthening your posterior chain. Goblet-forward lunges target each leg individually. Single-arm dumbbell rows are excellent for building your back and arms. Finally, planks with shoulder taps enhance core stability while allowing body movement.

The aim is clear: perform clean repetitions with controlled tension, putting enough effort to make those last few reps challenging. Whether you use this routine as a quick daily strength assessment or incorporate it into your schedule three to five times a week, particularly if you’re new to resistance training, ensure the movements are strong, consistent, and fluid.

Kettlebell Deadlift

Kettlebell deadlifts train your glutes, hamstrings, lower back, core, and grip. The movement teaches you how to hinge through your hips, pick the weight up from the floor, and stand tall with control. This makes it one of the most useful exercises for regaining muscle tone because it trains large muscles while reinforcing a movement you use constantly in daily life. Start with the kettlebell close to your feet and focus on driving through the floor.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, lower back, core, grip.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and place a kettlebell between your feet.
  2. Brace your core and soften your knees.
  3. Push your hips back and reach both hands to the kettlebell handle.
  4. Keep your chest lifted and your spine long.
  5. Press through your feet and stand tall with the kettlebell.
  6. Hinge your hips back and lower the kettlebell with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps. Rest for 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Dumbbell deadlifts, elevated kettlebell deadlifts, suitcase deadlifts.

Form Tip: Keep the kettlebell close to your body and make your hips drive the movement.

5 Slow Exercises That Restore Lower Back Strength Better Than Deadlifts After 60

Goblet Forward Lunge

Goblet forward lunges train your quads, glutes, hamstrings, hips, and core. Holding the weight at your chest makes your midsection work harder to keep your torso tall, while each step challenges one leg to lower, stabilize, and push back to standing. This exercise helps rebuild muscle tone in your lower body by combining strength, balance, and coordination in every rep. Use a lightweight at first and keep the step controlled.

Muscles Trained: Quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, hips, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Hold a dumbbell or kettlebell at your chest.
  3. Brace your core and step one foot forward.
  4. Lower into a lunge until both knees bend comfortably.
  5. Press through your front foot to return to standing.
  6. Complete all reps on one side, then switch legs.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Bodyweight forward lunges, assisted forward lunges, goblet split squats.

Form Tip: Keep your front foot planted and your torso tall as you push back to standing.

Single-Arm Dumbbell Row

Single-arm dumbbell rows train your upper back, lats, rear shoulders, biceps, grip, and core. The one-arm setup lets you focus on each side while your trunk helps keep your body steady. Stronger pulling muscles support posture, shoulder strength, and the arm tone most people want after 55. Use a bench, chair, or your own thigh for support so your back can do the work without swinging the weight.

Muscles Trained: Upper back, lats, rear delts, biceps, core, grip.

How to Do It:

  1. Hold a dumbbell in one hand.
  2. Hinge slightly forward and place your opposite hand on a bench, chair, or thigh for support.
  3. Brace your core and let the dumbbell hang below your shoulder.
  4. Pull your elbow back toward your ribs.
  5. Squeeze your upper back at the top.
  6. Lower the dumbbell with control and switch sides after your reps.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps per side. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Supported dumbbell rows, split-stance rows, band rows.

Form Tip: Pull through your elbow and keep your shoulder relaxed away from your ear.

5 Quick Morning Exercises That Burn Belly Pooch All Day Long After 55

Planks with Shoulder Taps

Planks with shoulder taps train your abs, obliques, shoulders, glutes, and deep core. The shoulder tap adds movement to the plank, so your midsection has to resist rocking side to side. This builds bracing strength that supports better posture, steadier movement, and a stronger-looking midsection. Start with a wider foot position to make the exercise more stable, then bring your feet closer as your control improves.

Muscles Trained: Abs, obliques, deep core, shoulders, glutes.

How to Do It:

  1. Start in a high plank with your hands under your shoulders.
  2. Step your feet wider than hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Lift one hand and tap the opposite shoulder.
  5. Place your hand back down with control.
  6. Alternate sides while keeping your hips steady.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 taps per side. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Incline shoulder taps, knee plank shoulder taps, slower shoulder taps.

Form Tip: Keep your hips as still as possible and move your hand with control.

If You Can Hold a Bridge This Long After 60, Your Core Strength Is Top-Tier

How to Regain Muscle Tone After 55

Regaining muscle tone takes consistent resistance training, steady daily movement, and enough recovery for your body to respond. These four exercises work well because they target large muscle groups and key movement patterns without making the routine overly complicated.

  • Use compound movements first: Deadlifts, lunges, rows, and plank taps train multiple muscles at once. That gives your body a stronger stimulus than small isolation moves alone.
  • Make the final reps meaningful: Choose a weight or variation that challenges you near the end of each set while your form stays strong.
  • Keep the routine repeatable: Perform all four exercises in 20 minutes or less. A short routine you can repeat often will usually beat a long workout you only get to once in a while.
  • Add a circuit option: Move from one exercise to the next with 30 to 45 seconds of rest. Repeat for 2 to 4 rounds to add a light conditioning effect while still building strength.
  • Support muscle tone outside the workout: Daily walking, protein-focused meals, hydration, and quality sleep help your strength work show up more clearly.

Muscle tone improves when your body gets regular practice producing force and holding strong positions. Train the hinge, lunge, pull, and brace patterns with control, and you’ll build strength that shows up in your workouts and your daily movement.

Grammy-Winning Singer Defies Odds with Life-Saving Double Lung Transplant

In a startling revelation, Muni Long disclosed that she underwent a double lung transplant after receiving a dire prognosis from doctors who warned she had merely a week left to live.

At 37, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about the beginning of her health struggles, which started while she was touring with Brandy and Monica during their 2025 The Boy Is Mine Tour.

Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of “Good Morning America,” Long expressed, “I should have never taken that tour. However, my life was filled with such chaos that I felt I had no choice.”

Previously diagnosed with Lupus, Long reminisced about how she fell ill with pneumonia during the tour. She vividly remembered barely managing to perform two songs in her last show before being forced to exit prematurely.

The singer of “Made For Me” recounted her journey home for Thanksgiving, only to wake up in a hospital bed where doctors informed her that surgery was necessary.

“I knew for a really long time that something was wrong,” she said. “Every day I’m, like, spitting in cups and coughing all the time, trying to take all these medicines to just get through the day.”

“With this industry, you’re always in people’s faces,” Long continued. “So, I’m taking pictures, and I’m just huffing and puffing like I just ran a marathon.”

While the hitmaker initially felt better at the hospital, she was then told by medical professionals that she had one week left to live.

“My jaw dropped,” she said. “Literally. I was like, ‘That’s rude.’ But they were kind of like, ‘Hey, this is not a joke. You need to make a choice. You can either go to hospice or you can get these lungs.’”

Long initially hesitated with her first thought being about her voice.

“But then I look at my son,” she said, referring to her 3-year-old son, Tatum, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Raysean Hairston.

“And I think about how much more life that I have to live. Quality of life was first. I can’t sing if I’m not here,” the “Make Me Forget” singer continued.

Six months after undergoing surgery, Long said she’s doing well and experiencing no symptoms or infections.

Long had a message for those who might find themselves in a similar situation, admitting that she “did not speak up for herself” when it came to her serious health issues.

“Lupus disproportionally affects Black women, who are just expected to show up and be everything for everybody,” she noted. “Don’t put yourself on the back burner for everyone else.”

“You need to focus on you,” she continued. “You need to pour into yourself. Don’t be afraid to say no.”

Discover the Top 4 Lesser-Known California Cities People Are Flocking To

0

Four cities in California have emerged as the nation’s latest economic hotspots, attributed to their significant growth over the past few years.

According to a report by SmartAsset, three of these cities are based in the northern part of California, an area where the tech industry explosion has dramatically spiked both population numbers and real estate values.

Interestingly, the top spot on the list is held by a city far removed from Silicon Valley’s influence.

Menifee, located in Riverside County, leads with a staggering 29% rise in housing units projected from 2019 to 2024, as highlighted in the study.

SmartAsset’s report notes, “Achieving boomtown status does not imply that every resident benefits equally, but it does indicate an increasing economic potential for the city, along with the myriad of opportunities it presents.”

The analysis evaluated over 400 cities with at least 65,000 residents, whittling it down to the 75 highest-scoring cities.

Here’s how California stacked up:

Menifee(65th on the list)

Menifee, which was only incorporated as a city in 2008, saw a 45% increase in its labor force between 2019 and 2024.

Rancho Cordova (70th)

Rancho Cordova, in Sacramento County, saw a 21% increase in housing units between 2019 to 2024, while its labor force jumped 17%, according to the study.

Santa Clara (72nd)

Home to the oldest institution of higher education in the US, Santa Clara University, the city is famous for its booming tech economy and cultural attractions. Santa Clara recorded an 11% increase in housing units and a 7% increase in labor force, the report found.

Sunnyvale, CA (75th)

Major tech giants including Yahoo and LinkedIn are headquartered in Sunnyvale, while Google, Meta and Apple have massive footprints in the city. Sunnyvale saw an 11% increase in housing units and a 6% increase in labor force, according to the study.

The overall list was topped by two Texas cities — Georgetown and New Braunfels — which both saw five-year increases of more than 30% in both labor force size and housing units.

California Library Shooter Inspired by Columbine: Disturbing New Details Unveiled

0

In Northern California, officials reported Tuesday that a gunman responsible for a deadly attack inside a library was motivated by infamous past mass shootings, including the 1999 tragedy at Columbine High School. The shooter killed two people in a shocking act of violence that took place on Monday.

The Chico Police Department identified the suspect as 18-year-old Bradley Scott Sayer. It was noted that he had no known links to either the library or the individuals who fell victim to the attack.

Authorities revealed that, prior to the assault, Sayer allegedly surveyed the library before returning to his vehicle to retrieve a shotgun. He then proceeded to the front entrance of the Butte County Library’s Chico branch, where he fatally shot a man at the door before taking the life of another person inside the building.

The tragic events unfolded on Monday when Sayer, now facing charges for the murder of two individuals, took action allegedly inspired by the notorious Columbine shooting, according to police reports. (The Associated Press)

Following multiple 911 calls, officers arrived at the scene and set up a perimeter. Sayer then exited the building and was taken into police custody.

“From the first 911 call to having him in custody was less than four minutes,” said Chico Police Chief Billy Aldridge, who noted that gunshots and screams could be heard on one 911 call and that the fast police response prevented the taking of more lives.

The man at the entrance was shot in the leg and head, and another man inside the building was shot in the head, police said.

The victims were identified as 46-year-old Jacob Hull and 74-year-old Robert Johnson. An underage girl was injured and treated at a hospital. In total, eight shots were fired, police said.

Sayer had just graduated from Chico High School on June 5, said Sid Patel, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Sacramento office.

A search of Sayer’s vehicle, located in the library parking lot, uncovered two additional firearms. Investigators were looking into how he acquired the weapons.

At the time of the shooting, Sayer was wearing a white T-shirt inscribed with the words “natural selection,” mimicking a T-shirt with the same slogan worn by Eric Harris, one of two shooters in the 1999 Columbine massacre in Colorado, Patel said, The Associated Press reported.

“He had been a fan, and a fan for a long time” of the Columbine shootings on social media, Butte County District Attorney Michael Ramsey said.

Sayer is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, Ramsey said.

Bode Miller Speaks Out Following Arrest on Drug-Related Charges

0

Renowned American Olympic skier Bode Miller has come forward to declare his innocence following his recent arrest on two misdemeanor drug charges.

‘I was pulled over for accelerating while passing another vehicle on a highway in Idaho,’ Miller said in a statement posted to his Instagram account.

“A friend accompanying me was in possession of a small quantity of cannabis and a cannabis pipe, which I wasn’t aware of. We fully cooperated with law enforcement,” he stated.

Miller expressed optimism, saying, “I am confident that the misdemeanor charges will be dropped upon review of the facts.”

Miller’s account contradicts earlier reports by TMZ, which alleged that the 48-year-old was apprehended for possessing psychedelic mushrooms.

The gold medalist from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics faces two misdemeanor charges related to the June 6 incident. After posting a $5,000 cash bond, Miller was released and has entered a plea of not guilty to both charges.

The 48-year-old is due back in court on July 29. The case is still active.

Miller won six Olympics medals over the course of his legendary career, making him one of America’s most decorated alpine skiers.

The Easton-born athlete, who also won two overall World Cup titles, bowed out from skiing in 2017.

His arrest came almost exactly eight years after he and wife Morgan suffered the devastating loss of their baby daughter Emeline, who died after drowning in a neighbor’s swimming pool on June 9, 2018.

Emeline was only 19 months old when the tragic incident occurred, with Morgan recently opening up on the agonizing regret that still haunts her in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail.

‘I never thought to be hyper aware of the pool in the backyard, but that’s where this is most likely to happen,’ she said. ‘When I think of what I could have done differently, I would have locked all the doors so she couldn’t get outside. I would have moved Emmy in front of me instead of the playroom to the right of me. I think about this all the time.’

One of Morgan’s biggest regrets is that Emeline used a puddle jumper – a life jacket with arm floaties – during family swims in the pool, which she believes conditioned her to believe she could swim and gave her a false sense of security.

‘She didn’t understand that it was the puddle jumper that kept her afloat,’ she said. ‘We’re putting our trust in these puddle jumpers and are exacerbating the problem. Every parent I’ve ever connected with who has lost a child to drowning used them.’

Bode and Morgan, who got married in 2012, share six other children together, including two twin boys, while the Olympian also has a son and daughter from a previous relationship.

Five years after Emeline’s heartbreaking death, the Miller family had another major scare when three of their children were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning.

The terrifying incident occurred when a broken hot tub was being replaced at their home, with the three kids standing on their front step when a lack of air flow in the driveway caused them to inhale too much carbon monoxide. Fortunately, all three of them made a full recovery.

It came seven months after one of their twin sons, Asher, was previously hospitalized after suffering a seizure.

Morgan revealed on her Instagram story that she rode in the back of the ambulance with her son after he had a seizure that ‘scared us half to death.’

She shared a photo of Bode lying in the hospital bed with Asher, while adding a heartfelt caption.

‘Life is constantly walking a knife edge and it’s not something we are unfamiliar with,’ Morgan began in her Instagram story post.

Miller’s arrest also came five months after another Team USA Winter Olympics icon, Ryan Wedding, was brought back to the US to face 17 felony charges, including murder

Miller is not the first Team USA Winter Olympics icon to be arrested on drug charges in recent months, nevertheless.

Ryan Wedding, who represented Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics, is accused of leading a billion-dollar drug-smuggling operation and orchestrating several murders.

He has been labelled a ‘modern-day iteration of Pablo Escobar’ and was among the FBI’s 10 most-wanted fugitives until late January, when he was brought back to the US to face 17 felony charges, including murder.

Wedding pleaded not guilty in court and now his legal team are planning to raise questions around ‘the legality of Mr. Wedding’s arrest and the circumstances surrounding his apprehension’ that could even lead to charges being dismissed.

Exploring the Current Status of Regime Change Efforts in Iran

0

The intention of instigating regime change in Iran was a prominent objective for the United States and Israel when they engaged in conflict with Iran—a notion that resonated with certain Iranians as well. However, this aim now seems distant and unattainable.

Following the death of Iran’s former leader Ali Khamenei, caused by the combined efforts of the US and Israel, then-President Donald Trump encouraged the Iranian people to “seize control” of their nation.

Trump stated, “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take,” after the initial US and Israeli air strikes targeted Iran in late February. Read more about the events here..

This appeal was also supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, underscoring that regime change was a fundamental goal of their coordinated military efforts, aligning with Netanyahu’s long-cherished aspirations.

Four months on, the United States has withdrawn from the conflict, leaving a significant toll: thousands of lives lost, economic disruptions worldwide, a depletion of US arms—yet the Iranian regime remains unscathed.

Rather than weakening Iran’s political structure, experts say the joint agreement signed with the US last week has instead emboldened and strengthened it.

US leaders, including Trump and his defence chief Pete Hegseth, insist there has been regime change, pointing to the killing of Khamenei and top Iranian security and political officials.

Trump ‘feels he was fooled’

But that doesn’t constitute regime change, Middle East analyst Amin Saikal says, partly because Khamenei was succeeded by his son Mojtaba.

Saikal says Trump may have felt later that he was being “played” by Netanyahu over regime change.

“Trump personally has never really said that he is very much in favour of regime change. In fact, he has said a few times that regime change does not really work,” he told SBS News.

“I think Trump feels that he was fooled by Netanyahu.”

Charles Miller, a senior lecturer in politics and international relations at the Australian National University, says the US side may have believed they could replicate the political change it managed in Venezuela.

“I think it became quite clear not too long into the war that this attempt to basically … swap out the leadership for one that would be more cooperative with the United States and Israel, wasn’t going to work,” he said.

Dara Conduit, a political science lecturer at the University of Melbourne, says regime change was never a main goal of Trump’s, pointing to his statements during the January protests that killed thousands, that “help was on its way”.

“And that help wasn’t forthcoming, and many Iranians were massacred in the streets,” she told SBS News.

“But [regime change] is not something that’s been particularly well planned, and I don’t think it’s something that Donald Trump really is deeply wedded to.”

Was regime change ever possible?

Experts say the ‘decapitation’ strategy — killing the chief at the top — is unlikely to effect regime change in a political system like Iran’s, where power is decentralised in what is called a ‘mosaic structure’. Each region in Iran is apparently controlled independently by an arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The regime may not have majority public support, but it does control many aspects of state power, including the IRGC, the volunteer Basij militia, the network of mosques, and various national committees.

“The regime is built to survive,” Saikal says.

And it’s built as tough as possible to withstand a “crack” from the US.

“They designed the Iranian military to basically be as robust as possible to an attempted invasion by the United States that would change the region, so that meant basically designing these long-range missiles and later designing drones, dispersing and hardening their facilities, building a very large army and Revolutionary Guards Corps, such that it would be very difficult for the United States to invade Iran.”

Miller adds that, without a ground operation or a collaborator on the inside, regime change was always unlikely.

Regime ‘far more emboldened’

Far from abolishing the regime, the memorandum of understanding signed last week — along with reaffirming the Strait of Hormuz under the control of Iran, and a US$300 billion ($431 billion) reconstruction fund — also makes it clear that both sides must “refrain from interfering in each other’s internal affairs”, such as attempting regime change.

Conduit says Iran has benefited from the deal more than it had during previous rounds of nuclear talks, where sanctions relief was the main incentive.

“It’s actually quite remarkable how much the dial has, I guess, shifted in the regime’s favour. It has certainly come out in a much stronger position than it went in,” she said.

Saikal said the US and Israel underestimated the resilience and capability of the regime.

“The regime is far more emboldened than it was,” he told SBS News.

It’s unclear whether the US will try again for regime change. But it’s unlikely to happen in the near future.

“There are a lot of people in the American political establishment and the Israeli political establishment that believe there is unfinished business here,” Conduit said.

“So I wouldn’t be surprised if it does escalate again at some point, I mean, with the hope that the US and Israel has learned its lessons from this conflict that the Iranian regime won’t be easily overpowered.”

Meet Carl: The Casa Amor Casanova Captivating Aniya Harvey on ‘Love Island USA’ Season 8

Love Island USA is deep into its thrilling Casa Amor week, bringing some excitement for the women with new potential partners. Their adventure, which had a rocky onset, gets a refreshing twist as 12 fresh bachelors join the scene, providing exactly the revitalization they were hoping for.

Yes, you heard correctly—12 new suitors have arrived! This number not only doubles the amount of women on the show but also mirrors the count of original male islanders who embarked on their own Casa Amor escapades. Making a grand entrance by yacht, the new men cruised past the villa in the sight of the original guys, setting the stage for drama.

Sadly, not all of these new faces could stay. Following an energetic dance-off and some sizzling chemistry examinations, just 6 lucky gentlemen remained, eager to become acquainted with the original women. Aniya found herself particularly charmed by the captivating Carl. This might be her chance for a budding romance. Stay tuned to learn about the man who piqued her interest.

Who is Carl On ‘Love Island USA’?

Carl Lee Schmidt appears to be the quintessential Casa Amor participant. At 28, this fitness coach from Denver caught the audience’s eye with his courteous demeanor. A global traveler, Carl has graced locations like Vietnam and Nantucket, showcased on his social media. Sharing with the women, he revealed his 6’4” frame, a family legacy of volleyball enthusiasts, and a preference for tall women, aligning him with a certain former volleyball player and notably tall islander.

Who is Carl coupled up with on ‘Love Island USA’?

It’s no shocker that Carl is currently coupled with Aniya Harvey. After observing KC Chandler, her initial partner, display enthusiasm for the new female arrivals, Aniya couldn’t help but feel discouraged. Their pairing had been challenged by repetitive patterns and the fact that they were matched by default, suggesting a relationship in need of reinvigoration.

Not only did Carl show interest in Aniya first; he also pulled her for a chat. One moment that had fans and Aniya swooning? Their conversation where Carl showed off his multilingual skills. Aniya confessed she only spoke one, and he immediately offered to teach her either Chinese or Japanese. During the language lesson, the two exchanged shy smiles and even a kiss! But will she and Carl make it past the Casa Amor experience?

What Does Carl’s Ex Have To Say About Him?

People have immediately hopped on the Carl and Aniya train, comparing them to The Princess and the Frog‘s Tiana and Naveen and Cinderella and Prince Charming. But before we get our hopes up, can Carl actually be Aniya’s prince? In a recently posted video, Carl’s ex girlfriend said he was respectful and not toxic. It is rare someone from the Islander’s past comes out to defend them, so it possible that Carl may just be an all around good guy.

It is still up in the air on whether Carl and Aniya will last, but fans believe they have a pretty good shot. In a preview of episode 19, Aniya is shown saying that talking with Carl feels different than talking with KC. The question is though… is it a good different or a bad different?

Capitals Shake Up NHL with Surprise Trade for Jordan Kyrou from Blues

As the NHL offseason surges forward with notable developments, teams across the league are vying to bolster their rosters in preparation for the upcoming season.

The Capitals are among those hopefuls in the Eastern Conference, optimistic that they’ve secured a vital addition to enhance their lineup.

In a significant move, the Capitals announced on Tuesday that they had acquired forward Jordan Kyrou from the Blues. The trade includes sending forwards Connor McMichael and Milton Gastrin, along with a 2026 first-round pick, to St. Louis in exchange for Kyrou.

Kyrou, who is currently 28, made a name for himself during the 2021-22 season when he amassed a career-best 75 points and earned a spot in the All-Star Game. He followed that breakout with three consecutive seasons scoring over 30 goals, topping the team’s scoring charts each year.

Nevertheless, the previous season saw a decline in his numbers. Kyrou closed the season with 18 goals and 28 assists, rounding out his performance with 46 points—the lowest since his third year in the NHL.

The Capitals, who finished with 95 points and missed the playoffs this year, made clear they are thrilled to acquire a player of Kyrou’s goal-scoring and offensive ability.

“Jordan is an exceptionally talented and dynamic offensive player who will make an immediate impact on our club,” general manager Chris Patrick said in a statement. “His skill, creativity, and ability to generate offense at an elite level will be a tremendous addition to our group. At just 28 years old and under contract for the next five seasons, Jordan is entering the prime years of his career. We believe he is an ideal fit for our team both now and for the long term.”

Kyrou signed an eight-year extension worth $65 million before the 2022-23 season, so he’s under contract through the 2030-31 campaign, in theory giving Washington a top-flight forward for years to come.

In McMichael, the Capitals lose their 2019 first-round pick, who, ironically enough, finished with 46 points last season. Gastrin, a center from Sweden, was a second-round pick last year and has yet to make his NHL debut.
