Mark Goldbridge Engages in Online Dispute with Manchester United Icon Rio Ferdinand Following Recent Collaboration with Gary Neville

0

In a heated online exchange, Mark Goldbridge has told Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand to “bore off” following United’s narrow 1-0 triumph over Chelsea.

The Red Devils secured a crucial victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night, thanks to Matheus Cunha’s decisive first-half goal. This win solidified United’s lead over Chelsea, putting them ten points ahead and strengthening their chances of clinching a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Post-match, Rio Ferdinand took to the social media platform X, advocating for interim head coach Michael Carrick to be given the permanent position at Manchester United. He expressed frustration over the number of people dismissing his former teammate’s candidacy for the full-time role at Old Trafford.

“For all that he has done so far, there are far too many people saying, ‘yeah, but I don’t think he should be the one because of this or that,’ or not even providing a reason,” Ferdinand commented.

“Everyone you mention will have some doubts surrounding them; Michael Carrick is no exception,” he added, emphasizing that all potential candidates come with their own set of question marks.

‘I’m not saying that he is going to go in there and if he gets the job, he is going to be perfect and 100 per cent easy. But he sure has put himself in a position that’s making it really difficult for anybody to go, “he can’t get it,” and justifiably say that.’

Goldbridge, a United-supporting content creator who has amassed 3.7million subscribers across two YouTube channels, seemed to take umbrage with Ferdinand’s remarks, and took to the comments section to aim a dig at the United legend.

‘Said nothing after Leeds. Bore off,’ Goldbridge wrote under Ferdinand’s video.

Ferdinand, who won 14 major trophies – including six Premier League titles and a Champions League – during a 12-year spell at Old Trafford, hit back at Goldbridge within two minutes of his reply.

The retired defender, who now resides in Dubai, wrote ‘Keep up Brent’, referencing Goldbridge’s real name, Brent Di Cesare, before adding a clip of himself critiquing United’s defeat to Leeds from earlier that week.

The spat between the pair came less than a week after Goldbridge’s YouTube channels The United Stand and That’s Football were acquired by Gary Neville’s media company The Overlap, which is majority-owned by radio and podcast giants Global.

The Overlap has paid an undisclosed seven-figure sum for the channels, which industry insiders believe to comfortably exceed £1m, as they seek to build ‘one of the most exciting football communities in the world’.

The deal will see Goldbridge continue to front both channels, while what is being described as ‘a significant expansion’ will follow.

The United Stand will be extended to include ‘Stick to United’, which will feature former players and journalists, and ‘The Daily United’, a daily United news strand. Other major clubs across Europe will also be targeted.

Neville, executive director of The Overlap, said: ‘We are building what we believe will become one of the most exciting independent football communities in the world – one that gives fans direct, personality-led content.

‘The United Stand and That’s Football are two of the best-known football channels on YouTube, and our intention is to develop them into the most compelling Manchester United and football news channels in the market.’

Goldbridge added: ‘I’ve spent the last 10 years building The United Stand for Manchester United fans and That’s Football for all fans, and I’m prouder of that than anything I’ve ever done. This deal is about what comes next.

‘The Overlap has the ambition, the credibility, and the resources to help me take what I do to the next level.’

Hollywood Mourns: Beloved Star Patrick Muldoon Passes Away at 57 – Cause of Death Revealed

Patrick Muldoon, a cherished figure in Hollywood recognized for his roles in iconic productions such as “Days of Our Lives,” “Melrose Place,” and the sci-fi cult classic “Starship Troopers,” passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 19, at the age of 57. The cause was a heart attack. Muldoon’s journey into acting began during his school years with a guest appearance in the beloved sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” His career took flight after his 1991 graduation when he secured a recurring spot on the teen favorite “Saved by the Bell.”

Muldoon’s career trajectory was marked by notable successes. In 1992, he brought to life the character of Austin Reed on “Days of Our Lives,” a role he played until 1995 and reprised from 2011 to 2012. His talent was further showcased on the glamorous soap “Melrose Place,” where he portrayed the scheming Richard Hart across three seasons. Throughout the late ’90s and into the 2000s, Muldoon became a familiar face in numerous TV movies, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the craft.

The actor’s big-screen breakthrough came with his portrayal of Zander Barcalow in the 1997 film “Starship Troopers,” which has since achieved cult status. Despite his untimely passing, Muldoon’s work continues to make waves, with his latest film, “Dirty Hands,” a crime thriller, scheduled for release later this year.

Beyond acting, Muldoon was a prolific producer, contributing to a diverse array of films including “The Tribes of Palos Verdes,” “Arkansas,” “Marlowe,” “The Card Counter,” “The Dreadful,” and “Riff Raff.” His multifaceted talent left an indelible mark on the industry.

In recent times, Muldoon was involved in the production of “Kockroach,” a project featuring stars such as Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, and Zazie Beetz, which is currently in the filming stage. His legacy in Hollywood is one of passion, creativity, and a remarkable ability to captivate audiences both on and off the screen.

He balanced this work with his music. The star was the lead singer for the band The Sleeping Mass.

Tributes flooded in for the star as fans learned the devastating news of his death. “So sad to hear about Patrick Muldoon. Rest in Peace,” one wrote on Facebook. “Wow, I’m in shock, that’s weird. I just finished watching Starship Troopers…RIP Patrick,” another added.

A third chimed in: “What the heck. My gosh this is so sad rest well you poor sweetheart I hope they have a nice party for you in heaven.” A fourth added: “So sad to hear this news about Patrick Muldoon. He was my favourite Austin on Days of Our Lives.”

A fifth shared: “Very sad to see this too young with such a great actor, I enjoyed watching him on Days of Our Lives.”

Meanwhile, a sixth lamented: “I’m so sad! He was such a good actor, and I loved watching him on Days of Our Lives. He was so young! Praying for his family and friends. “

Individual Detained in Connection with Investigation into Louisiana Educator Marisa Noel Facing 25 Child Sex Crime Allegations

A woman has been taken into custody in connection with the investigation of a fifth-grade teacher facing 25 charges related to child sex crimes, including first-degree rape.

Last Wednesday, Marisa Noel, who was already detained for inappropriate conduct with a student, was slapped with more severe charges following the discovery of another victim, authorities reported.

Subsequently, on the following day, Cortney Burleigh, aged 37, was arrested, as announced by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill. Burleigh is facing three felony charges related to the sexual abuse of a child under 13, including accusations of indecent behavior with juveniles and acting as an accessory after the fact.

Though Burleigh was not employed at the same school as Noel, her arrest is part of the broader probe delving into these disturbing allegations. She now faces charges of cruelty to juveniles, a crime that could lead to a prison term of up to 10 years in Louisiana, along with obstruction of justice.

She has also been charged with cruelty to juveniles – an offense which carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years in Louisiana – as well as obstruction of justice.

Murrill confirmed the investigation “is still very ongoing.”

“We will continue to support our partners across the state and bring to justice anyone who exploits or sexually abuses the children of Louisiana,” she said.

Noel was first arrested last Monday following a two month probe into her behavior with a fifth-grader while teaching at Teche Elementary School in Breaux Bridge.

Her initial charges with the first alleged victim were four counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and the same number for using a computer to solicit a minor.

But, the second set of charges included 10 counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and two counts of having child sexual abuse material — on top of the rape allegation.

She was also accused of unlawful communications and harassment and using a computer to solicit a minor.

Noel remains in custody at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

Tragedy Strikes Shreveport: Father Accused in Heartbreaking Shooting of Eight Children

0

SHREVEPORT, La. — A horrific tragedy unfolded in a Shreveport neighborhood early Sunday, as a Louisiana man carried out a deadly assault resulting in the deaths of eight children, including seven of his own. This shocking act has left the community grappling with one of the most devastating mass shootings in recent U.S. history, according to local law enforcement.

Two women, one being the gunman’s wife and the mother of the children, suffered critical injuries in the attack, stated Chris Bordelon, a spokesperson for the Shreveport Police Department. The children, tragically, all lost their lives within the confines of one home, with their ages spanning from 3 to 11 years old.

Identified as 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, the shooter was killed following a police chase that concluded with officers opening fire, Bordelon confirmed. While the motive behind this violent outburst remains unclear, investigators believe the incident was purely domestic in nature.

This massacre marks the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in over two years.

“Words fail me, my heart is overwhelmed,” expressed Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith. “The magnitude of this tragedy is unimaginable.”

Bordelon said police were familiar with Elkins, who had been arrested in a 2019 firearms case, but he said officials were not aware of any other domestic violence issues.

Elkins previously served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for seven years, according to an Army official. He never deployed and left the Army as a private in 2020, the official said.

Elkins appeared to post a photo with his children on Facebook.

Police said the attacks began before sunrise in a neighborhood south of downtown Shreveport when the suspect shot a woman at one home and then drove to the other location “where this heinous act was carried out.”

Seven children were killed inside the second house, and one was found dead on the roof after apparently trying to escape, Bordelon said. Another child jumped off the roof and was expected to survive after being taken to a hospital.

State Rep. Tammy Phelps said some children tried to get away through the back door. “I can’t even imagine what the police officers, first responders actually dealt with when they got here today,” she said at a news conference.

Family member says suspect was separating from his wife

The victims were three boys and five girls, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s office.

Shamar Elkins and his wife were in the middle of separating and were due in court Monday, said Crystal Brown, who is a cousin of one of the wounded women. Brown said the couple had been arguing about the separation before the shooting.

“He murdered his children,” Brown said. “He shot his wife.”

Elkins shared four children with his wife and three children with another woman who lived close by and who was also shot, according to Brown. All the children were together at one house, she said.

Brown described all the children as “happy kids, very friendly, very sweet.”

Police said the children, siblings and one cousin, including three boys and five girls ranging in age from 3 to 11, were identified by their mothers as 3-year-old Jayla Elkins, 5-year-old Shayla Elkins, 6-year-old Kayla Pugh, 7-year-old Layla Pugh, 10-year-old Markaydon Pugh, 11-year-old Sariahh Snow, 6-year-old Khedarrion Snow and 5-year-old Braylon Snow.

A neighbor wakes up to a mass shooting

Liza Demming, who lives two houses down from where most of the victims were shot, said her security camera captured video of the suspect running away, along with the sound of two shots.

“That’s pretty much all I saw, was him running out of the house and the cars leaving,” she said.

Demming later went outside and saw the covered body of a child on the home’s roof.

Pastor Marty T. Johnson Sr., of nearby St. Gabriel Community Baptist Church, who owns one of the homes where the shootings occurred, said a person who works for him had rented it to the family, but he never had dealings with them.

“What began as a domestic dispute has ended in irreversible harm,” the parish’s district attorney’s office said in a statement.

Shreveport is overwhelmed by grief

It was the deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. since eight people were killed in a Chicago suburb in January 2024, according to a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in partnership with Northeastern University.

At a news conference outside the residence where one of the shootings occurred, officials appeared stunned, requesting patience and prayers from the community as they sorted through multiple crime scenes.

“This is a tragic situation – maybe the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had,” said Tom Arceneaux, mayor of the city in northwestern Louisiana with about 180,000 residents. “It’s a terrible morning.”

Hours after the shooting, mourners gathered outside the single-story house on 79th Street and laid flowers. One door appeared stained with blood. Later that evening at a nearby prayer vigil, Kimberlin Jackson joined other members of the community who lit candles for the victims in a parking lot.

“It just makes you take your children and hug them and hold them and tell them how much you love them,” she said.

This story has been corrected to attribute the statements about the shooting to police spokesperson Chris Bordelon, not Police Chief Wayne Smith, and corrects the ages of the children killed based on updates by officials.

Heartfelt Tributes Pour In for Beloved Pedestrian Tragically Lost Near Comic Convention

A pedestrian killed by an out-of-control car outside a Melbourne comic convention has been remembered as a “kind and compassionate young man” who was looking forward to an overseas trip with his best friends later this year.

Tragedy struck on Saturday evening when 20-year-old Volkan Aksoy lost his life in a car accident near the Melbourne Showgrounds. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. when a Toyota Echo veered off Langs Road in Ascot Vale, climbing onto the kerb.

Aksoy had spent the day enjoying the Supanova Comic Con and Gaming event with his friends before the accident claimed his life at the scene.

His closest friend, also aged 20, sustained serious injuries, including a cracked skull and a fractured leg. He remains hospitalized in a serious but stable condition.

Another friend involved in the incident was treated for shock and has since been released from the hospital.

In a poignant tribute, Aksoy’s mother remembered her son as “a kind and compassionate young man who cherished time with his friends and family, whom he loved deeply.”

“He had a beautiful spirit, he was very much loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him,” she told 9News.

The family is struggling to come to terms with the tragedy, his mother said.

“His life was taken far too soon – there’s no other way to describe it.”

Aksoy’s colleagues at the Keysborough fast-food restaurant where he worked for several years remembered the young man as a “well-mannered, easy-going, social gentleman”.

“He had big dreams, he was very intellectual, that’s what I’m going to miss the most about him,” friend and coworker Hasha Kong said.

“I remembered he was so excited to go to Japan at the end of the year with his high school best friends, until this happened.

“But I am so grateful to have met him. I believe that anyone would love to have a person just like Volkan in their life.”

Police allege the Werribee man who was allegedly behind the wheel was on bail at the time and was unlicensed.

Amer Dau, 33, fronted court today charged with dangerous driving causing death, culpable driving and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.

White Pickup Truck Allegedly Stalks Women in Montana: Community on Alert

0

An enigmatic white pickup truck has been reportedly tailing women on the remote highways of Montana, raising concerns among local residents.

On April 10, Lizette Lamb, 48, was traveling from Roundup to Glasgow via Highway 191 when she stopped at The Ole’ Mercantile Conoco station in Grass Range around 7 p.m. It was there that she first observed the vehicle, which had no front license plate.

“It gave her a bit of a creepy feeling,” her husband, Travis, shared with Cowboy State Daily regarding the unsettling encounter with the truck.

“My wife has experience working in a prison, so she’s accustomed to trusting her instincts,” he added.

After resuming her journey, Lizette soon realized that the same pickup truck was following her.

‘I noticed that they were pulling too close to me, to my bumper, and at that moment, I just felt very uneasy,’ she recounted to KTVQ. ‘But I was like “OK, maybe they’re just trying to go around me.’

Yet even when she sped up to about 85mph, the truck continued to stay close behind, riding so close to her she could no longer see its windshield – only the grille.

‘I was like, “Oh my goodness, I’m going really fast and they’re almost tailgating me,’ Lizette said. ‘At that moment, I was like, my life is in danger.’

The situation then escalated near a hill, where she said the driver of the pickup tried to squeeze next to her and pull ahead of her to force her off the road.

‘She was fortunate, kind of timed it to when to turn into her and hit her, she sped up,’ Travis explained. ‘And they missed.’

But that is when she noticed there were two men inside the truck, which had dark-tinted windows.

Lizette then tried to call 911, but could not get through due to the limited cell service in the area.

At that point, she decided to show the two men she had her pistol on her.

‘They made a fast U-turn and they turned the other way and they took off,’ she said.

‘That’s when all that became to me a reality, like it’s something I think today, this moment, I might end up having to use my gun because it’s my life. It’s either them or me, and I choose me,’ Lizette continued.

‘Just being in that moment, I hope nobody has to go through that because it really kind of just put a lot of things in perspective.’

Following the encounter, Lizette said she called Travis, who reported the incident to the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatchers then confirmed the report, and Travis said they informed him they received similar calls in the past.

Deputies were then dispatched to the scene, but due to the rural nature of the area, family members reached her before law enforcement arrived on the scene.

The following day, Travis shared the experience on his Facebook, urging others to stay aware of their surroundings.

‘I did it for the aspect of just making people aware that “Hey, you know it’s not the Montana that we all grew up in,”‘ he said. ‘It’s changed and we have to change along with it or we’re going to be victims of it.’

But what the couple didn’t expect were the 36 accounts from women who experienced similar situations in the same area.

The pattern in many of the comments was the same – it was a white pickup, often a Ford, sometimes with out-of-state plates, tailgating women on isolated stretches of a two-lane highway after dark.

Holly Pierce, of Columbia Falls, for example, said she had a comparable experience in December 2024 while driving on Highway 87 near Roundup for a funeral in Glasgow.

She said a truck repeatedly brake-checked her and her friend, who was in the vehicle with her, before coming to a complete stop in the roadway.

‘I got next to him,’ Pierce said. ‘He gunned it down and started racing next to me and I just could not get around him. I was going over a hundred miles an hour. I was just trying to get away from him.’

The couple was shocked to find 36 accounts from women who experienced similar situations in the same area

She said she was eventually able to get away from the pickup driver, but said the experience still affects her.

‘It scares me to think what would happen if I would have stopped and said “Do you need help?”‘ Pierce said. ‘It was so crazy and I think about what happens to the women who haven’t gotten away.’

In another incident, Penny Ronning, the cofounder and president of Yellowstone Human Trafficking Task Force, said she was driving from Billings to Havre for a campaign event in 2022 when she was running as a Democrat for US Congress.

She took back roads when she said a four-door white pickup truck with blacked-out windows pulled up behind her.

‘That was what made it frightening. It was that I was followed.’

Joni Hartford, of Lewistown, also shared an eerily similar experience to Lamb.

She said she had dropped off some belongings to her son, a football player at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, and stopped at a gas station on her way out of town ‘for a pop.’

She then climbed back into her vehicle and headed north on Highway 87 around 7.30 or 8pm. Soon, she said she noticed the truck.

‘It was right behind me and I kept thinking, “God this vehicle is super close,” Hartford said.

Penny Ronning, who ran for Congress in 2022, reported a similar experience

Penny Ronning, who ran for Congress in 2022, reported a similar experience

At that point, Hartford said she slowed to 60mph hoping the truck would go around – but it didn’t.

‘He was so close behind me,’ she recounted. ‘I couldn’t see his taillights but I could see his marker lamps on his mirrors, his tow mirrors. So I knew it was a Ford pickup and I knew it was like a three-quarter or a one-ton. It was a big pickup.’

Hartford then called her husband.

‘I said, “This pickup is tailgating me,” and said, “It’s really kind of making me nervous because if I had to stop for a deer, it would run me over. It would run me off the road,’ she said.

‘And he goes, “Well, just stop.” And I said, “I am not stopping. I’m in the middle of freaking nowhere.’

Hartford eventually caught a lucky break when she noticed an Amish buggy sluggishly climbing up a blind hill and slowing traffic.

‘I darted around the Amish buggy, right before the blind hill, and he couldn’t get around them and I just gunned it and I was going probably 90mph just to put space between us,’ she said. ‘I never seen him again.’

Lamb said she just wanted to get home to her family (pictured)

Lamb said she just wanted to get home to her family (pictured)

Hartford, who carries a .380 pistol which she had on her front seat at the time, said the parallels with Lamb’s story stopped her cold.

‘It’s the same exact situation,’ she exclaimed. ‘I can’t say for certain it was the same person, but it sure seems like the same person.

‘They’re targeting [women] at gas stations,’ she continued. ‘That’s the only place they could have found me because it’s the only place I’ve stopped.’

The victims say they believe the lack of cell service in the area makes drivers more vulnerable, though a motive for the stalking incidents remains unclear.

‘I don’t think they were trying to scare me,’ Lamb said. ‘I think it was more sinister. I think they had a plan. But I was like, “I’m going to go home, I’m going to see my family.”‘

Yet Ronning, who has spent years working on human trafficking policy and prevention, pushed back on rhetoric that they may be engaging in human trafficking.

‘Human trafficking is the use of force, fraud or coercion to compel a person into commercial sex acts or labor against their will,’ she said. ‘Just because someone is being followed, that doesn’t rise to the level of human trafficking.’

As the investigation into the stalking incidents now continues, Fergus County investigators are hoping The Ole’ Mercantile gas station’s security footage can help identify the driver of the vehicle.

Owner Krista Manley said the store is outfitted with a top-of-the-line camera system that offers a 360-degree view with no blind spots, capturing her property, a nearby bar and the full stretch of the Highway 87 frontage running through town.

So far, she said she has seen no sign of the truck in the surveillance footage, but she insisted ‘that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.’

‘My default is to absolutely believe women and she [Lizette] was, she was rattled,’ said Manley, who holds a PhD in cognitive psychology.

‘We’re absolutely not arguing the authenticity of the report in any way, shape or form,’ she continued. ‘In my previous life before I had the store, I actually was a memory and cognition researcher. I understand how stress impacts memory.’

Manley is now hoping to have the Lambs look at the footage themselves to see if Lizette can recognize the vehicle.

At the same time, Travis said he is ‘hoping somebody’s like “I know that pickup.”

‘That’s what I’m praying for,’ he said.

Senate GOP Urges House Action: Impeach Judge Boasberg Post-Halted Contempt Hearings

0

Senator Eric Schmitt, a Republican from Missouri and a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has urged House Republicans to initiate impeachment proceedings against James Boasberg, the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. This call to action follows a decision by a federal appeals court to pause Boasberg’s contempt inquiry into officials from the Trump administration.

Schmitt, a vocal supporter of the Trump administration’s stringent deportation measures, accuses Boasberg of judicial overreach. He is pressing for impeachment despite acknowledging that achieving the 67 Senate votes necessary for Boasberg’s removal remains unlikely.

Expressing his frustration, Schmitt criticized Boasberg’s attempts to hold Trump administration figures, including former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, in criminal contempt for ignoring his directive to cease deportation flights to El Salvador.

“The D.C. Circuit has deemed Boasberg’s contempt pursuit against Trump officials as an ‘improper investigation’ and a ‘clear abuse of discretion.’ He sought to imprison Trump officials for deporting Venezuelan gang members. I urge the House: Impeach Rogue Judge Boasberg,” Schmitt declared on X, the social media platform.

Schmitt’s demand for Boasberg’s impeachment follows the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals’ 2-1 decision on Tuesday, which halted Boasberg’s investigation into whether Trump administration officials had breached his order by deporting individuals to El Salvador without allowing them the opportunity to contest their deportation orders.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche accused Boasberg of targeting Justice Department attorneys.

“Today’s decision by the DC Circuit should finally end Judge Boasberg’s year-long campaign against the hardworking department attorneys doing their jobs fighting illegal immigration,” Blanche said in a statement responding to the court’s decision.

The federal appeals court ruled Boasberg was conducting an “improper investigation” that Judge Neomi Rao, a Trump appointee, warned could become “an open-ended, freewheeling inquiry into executive branch decision-making on matters of national security” that could have broad ramifications for military and diplomatic initiatives.

But the decision was accompanied by a fiery dissent from Judge J. Michelle Childs, a Biden appointee, who argued that the ruling could undermine judicial authority.

“Contempt of court is a public offense, and the fate of our democratic republic will depend on whether we treat it as such,” Childs wrote. “In the many forms in which it can be committed, contempt degrades the power that the people, through their Constitution and Congress, gave the federal courts.

“Without the contempt power, the rule of law is an illusion, a theory that stands upon shifting sands,” she wrote.

Revitalize Your Waistline: 5 Standing Exercises That Outperform Traditional Ab Workouts for Seniors Over 60

0

Tackle those “love handles” with these powerful standing exercises designed to target stubborn areas.

As we age, our bodies naturally undergo transformations influenced by muscle loss, shifts in hormone levels, and decreased physical activity. These changes often lead to extra fat accumulating around the midsection. This gradual weight increase, often referred to as “weight creep,” can add up to a pound each year if left unchecked.

While these changes can be exasperating, they can be managed with some strategic lifestyle adjustments. We consulted with Terry Tateossian, the Founder and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Coach, Trainer, and Nutritionist for Women 40+ at THOR – The House of Rose. She suggests five standing exercises that can more effectively trim the waistline after 60 than traditional abdominal workouts. Tateossian brings a wealth of advanced training in women’s health and age-related weight management.

“Even if you’re staying active, hormonal changes are a major factor in why we gain weight around the belly after 60,” Tateossian explains. “As estrogen and testosterone levels drop, our energy and motivation can wane. Additionally, if we don’t focus on resistance training, our bodies naturally begin to lose muscle mass,” she adds.

“Some of the most common reasons we develop extra weight around the midsection after 60, despite being active, is hormonal shifts as we get older. Estrogen declines, testosterone decreases and we start to have less drive and motivation. In addition, when we don’t do resistance training as our prioritized training method, our bodies start to naturally lose muscle mass,” Tateossian shares.

After 60, the goal of many of Tateossian’s clients isn’t to sculpt aesthetically pleasing abs, but rather to build a strong, stable core that promotes solid posture, daily movement, and metabolic wellness.”Traditional ab exercises may not necessarily address those priorities,” she says. “However, I will say that ab exercises in general do not provide ‘the six pack’ most people desire. It is actually nutrition that creates the ‘six pack’ and having low body fat overall.”

Below are five standing moves that can help tighten and firm your waistline quicker than standard ab workouts.

  1. Begin standing tall with your feet shoulder-width apart and hands behind your head, elbows wide.
  2. Activate your core and lift your left knee toward your left elbow as you crunch your torso to the side, keeping your chest tall.
  3. Use control to lower.
  4. Lift your right knee toward your right elbow as you crunch your torso to the side.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 20 total reps, keeping the tempo slow and controlled with 60 seconds of rest in between sets.

Standing March With Core Engagement

“The key here is to brace the core—so imagine you are sneezing. That contraction that happens in the belly, keep that the entire set but continue breathing,” Tateossian says.

  1. Start by standing tall with your feet hip-width apart and arms at your sides.
  2. Lift your left knee up to hip height while swinging your right arm forward and left arm back. Keep your core engaged.
  3. Lower your foot and repeat with your right knee, swinging your left arm forward and right arm back.
  4. Maintain solid posture and steady breathing throughout.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 20 total reps, keeping the tempo slow and controlled with 60 seconds of rest in between sets.

Standing Paloff Press

  1. Stand tall, perpendicular to an anchor point, with your feet hip-width apart and a soft bend in your knees.
  2. Hold a resistance band at chest level.
  3. Breathe out as you extend your arms ahead of you, resisting rotation.
  4. Return your arms back to the starting position.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 to 12 reps on each side, keeping the tempo slow and controlled with 60 seconds of rest in between sets.

Standing Side Leg Lifts

“This move is great for the hips as well, as it builds hip and core connection. Lift one leg to the side, you can keep the knee bent or straight. [Your] torso stays stable,” Tateossian says.

  1. Begin by standing tall with your feet hip-width apart and hands placed on your hips or holding onto a sturdy chair or wall for extra support.
  2. Activate your core as you shift your weight onto your left leg.
  3. Keep your right leg straight and toes pointed forward as you lift it out to the side as high as you’re comfortably able to.
  4. Hold at the top for a moment before lowering.
  5. Repeat on the other side.
  6. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 20 reps in total, keeping the tempo slow and controlled with 60 seconds of rest in between sets.

Standing Cross-Body Punches

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and knees slightly bent.
  2. Bring your fists up to your face and tuck your elbows.
  3. Extend your left arm across your body in a punching motion, rotating through your torso.
  4. Return to the center.
  5. Repeat on the other side.
  6. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 20 reps in total, keeping the tempo slow and controlled with 60 seconds of rest in between sets.

Breaking: Sydney Sweeney’s Euphoria Season 3 Plot Twist Leaves Fans in Shock and Awe

0

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for “Euphoria” Season 3, Episode 2 — “America My Dream”

The portrayal of women in “Euphoria” has often sparked debate, and Sam Levinson’s provocative HBO drama reaches new extremes with Sydney Sweeney’s character, Cassie Howard, in its third season. As the series progresses, Cassie’s narrative has become a focal point, raising questions about the show’s overarching themes and its depiction of female characters.

When “Euphoria” debuted in the summer of 2019, it introduced viewers to a gritty high school world through the eyes of Rue Bennett, a recovering drug addict played by Zendaya—whose performance has earned her two Emmy Awards. Alongside Rue, the series explores the lives of her friends, including Cassie, her by-the-book sister Lexi (Maude Apatow), Cassie’s steadfast best friend Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie), the confident and body-positive Kat Hernandez (Barbie Ferreira), and Maddy’s tumultuous partner Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). Rue also becomes captivated by Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer), a transgender student navigating her gender and sexual identity in often perilous circumstances.

While “Euphoria” has always leaned heavily on shock value, Season 2 escalated this tendency, and Season 3 intensifies it further. The show employs a five-year time leap, aging its characters into their twenties, and one need only look at Cassie’s storyline to grasp this shift. Levinson often shies away from deeply analyzing Cassie, yet her narrative is predominantly defined by how she is perceived by men. This focus on Cassie underscores broader issues within “Euphoria,” sparking significant discussion.

So, what exactly is Cassie Howard’s storyline in Season 3, and why has it stirred such controversy? In the previous season, Cassie engaged in a clandestine relationship with Nate, which was kept secret due to his ties with her best friend, Maddy. When Maddy uncovered the truth, chaos ensued. Fast forward five years, and Cassie and Nate are cohabitating in a lavish, albeit kitschy, mansion, planning a wedding. However, underlying tensions surface when Nate hesitates to spend $50,000 on floral arrangements, prompting Cassie to take control of her destiny by embarking on a new venture as an erotic influencer.

Even by Euphoria’s standards, Cassie’s Season 3 plotline is humiliating

Wait, so what is Cassie Howard’s storyline in Season 3 of “Euphoria,” and why is everyone so mad about it? Here’s the deal. You may remember that, in Season 2, Cassie and Nate started a secret relationship — secret because of Nate’s connection to Maddy, Cassie’s very best friend — and when Maddy did find out, the situation imploded. Still, with this five-year time jump, we learn that Cassie and Nate live together in the tackiest possible mansion and are getting married soon, but there’s trouble in paradise. Despite the trappings of wealth, Nate balks at spending $50,000 on floral arrangements for their wedding, and frustrated by this stand, Cassie decides to take matters into her own hands … and start working as an erotic influencer.

To say this plotline is demeaning is an understatement, and that’s not meant to impugn successful, happy erotic influencers and OnlyFans content creators. It is meant to impugn Sam Levinson, who uses this opportunity to truss the buxom Sydney Sweeney up like a Thanksgiving turkey and put her into increasingly embarrassing costumes and set-ups. There’s a shot where she’s fully nude with ice cream dripping down her arm. There’s a shot where she’s fully nude holding a strategically placed baseball mitt. There’s a scene where she’s dressed as a dog, complete with a leash … and she’s wearing Sweeney’s real-life lingerie line to boot. There’s also a full scene where she’s not fully nude but dressed like a baby, complete with a diaper and pacifier, spreading her legs for the camera operated by her beleaguered housekeeper Juana (Minerva García). We’re supposed to, presumably, find this empowering for Cassie, but the way Levinson paints it is anything but.

Fans are commenting on Sydney Sweeney’s Euphoria storyline … and they agree on one thing

That whole “sexy baby” situation got a lot of play on social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter), even during the week between the Season 3 premiere “Ándale” aired and the second episode “America My Dream” debuted. On the platform, user @aribudincita wrote, “Man, Cassie from ‘Euphoria’s’ pic dressed like a baby is disgusting.” Another, @jiya1402, made it pretty personal. “I was never too fond of [Sydney Sweeney] to begin with but this just makes her the worst person in the world,” they wrote alongside pictures of her in the dog and baby costumes. “Like…. I can’t stand to look at her.” @Davebarrerita wondered how Sweeney and Jacob Elordi — who appears in a scene in the Season 3 premiere where Cassie’s in that now-infamous dog get-up — could even perform under these circumstances. “This is so embarassing even for [Jacob],” they mused. “But, how [can] Sydney Sweeney agree to do something like this? It’s like a humillation ritual.”

Other people pointed to creator Sam Levinson as “the problem,” so to speak. “Sam Levinson needs to be investigated! How the hell did we go from that purple glitter aesthetic to fart f*tish, doggy f*tish and the cartel???” user @ar1esprincesa wondered. Even before the season started, people were clocking Levinson, like @SailorSammy93: “Just saw a pic of Cassie in [‘Euphoria’ Season 3] … I need someone to go through Sam Levinson’s hard drive.”

Frankly, anyone who’s familiar with “Euphoria” should be unsurprised that Levinson is pushing things this far, particularly where Cassie is concerned. It’s not like he took it any easier on Cassie — or Sweeney, for that matter — during the show’s first two blockbuster seasons.

Let’s be honest: Euphoria has never been kind to Cassie Howard

The first season of “Euphoria,” to Sam Levinson’s credit, does something interesting in that each episode focuses on a different main character, with Zendaya’s Rue narrating details about their life that give some context as to who they are as teenagers. As far as Cassie is concerned, we learn about her early childhood with her well-meaning but overbearing mother Suze Howard (always-welcome utility player Alanna Ubach) and her largely absent dad Gus (Nick Blood), as well as her prowess as a young ice-skater. Gus leaving the family and dealing with substance abuse issues made life scary and difficult for Cassie, who was very attached to her father; essentially, this entire set-up is designed for the audience to understand that Cassie finds self-worth in the eyes of men due to a damaged relationship with her dad.

This manifests as early as Season 1, where we see Cassie dating a guy named Chris McKay (Algee Smith), who seems nice enough but also pressures her into sending him nude photos — and, we learn, is the father of an unborn child. (Cassie terminates the pregnancy.) In Season 2, we get that aforementioned storyline between Nate and Cassie as they sneak around behind Maddy’s back … and after Maddy finds out about their secret relationship, she goes full scorched-earth as an increasingly desperate Cassie, usually hysterically screaming and crying, tries to hold onto Nate through whatever means necessary. (Remember her drunkenly vomiting in the hot tub halfway through the season after wearing a teeny-tiny bathing suit to pull Nate’s attention away from Maddy?!) There were some flickers of more interesting stories throughout Cassie’s narrative, but by this point, she’s fallen victim to Levinson’s worst impulses when it comes to his female characters.

Beyond that, Sam Levinson’s view of women in Season 3 of Euphoria is bleak

While Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie feels like the most egregious example of Sam Levinson’s often abhorrent approach to his female characters, she’s certainly not alone. Before we even get to the Season 3 of it all, it feels very important to note that you won’t see Barbie Ferreira’s name mentioned in conjunction with that season. Why? Ferreira left “Euphoria” after Season 2, during which her character Kat was sidelined and, frankly, disrespected with lackluster storylines. Rumors have swirled for years that Levinson and Ferreira feuded, she recently opened up on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast about why she left. As she told host Amanda Hirsch, her character arc “just wasn’t going anywhere” and she wanted a chance to challenge herself as a performer. “”I don’t need to be on the biggest TV show on earth if I’m not, like, acting,” she said.

Whether or not there was ever any actual bad blood between Levinson and Ferreira is one thing, but the way that Levinson treats his female characters in Season 3 of “Euphoria” feels … rough. Aside from Lexi, who always manages to come out of this show miraculously unscathed, the women of “Euphoria” aren’t ever having a particularly good time. Maddy’s career, we learn in “America My Dream,” is floundering — and her only salvation is to manage erotic influencers. (More on that shortly.) Rue is a drug mule, as is her friend Faye (former adult performer Chloe Cherry, who deserves better than anything this show gives her). Levinson makes a habit out of disrespecting women on “Euphoria,” and Cassie happens to be the worst instance of this impulse.

Cassie’s storyline on Season 3 of Euphoria points to a larger structural issue

It might sound dramatic to say that Cassie’s storyline on “Euphoria” just clarifies that the show’s foundation isn’t sound, but it’s not hyperbole; it’s just the truth. The pivot that Cassie makes during “America My Dream” is that she decides she wants to create adult content for OnlyFans, the constantly-growing platform where adult content creators control their own businesses. Again, this is not meant to disrespect the many creators on that platform; what we’re trying to say here is that making Cassie into an OnlyFans model feels like the laziest possible choice for this character and for Sam Levinson as a writer and showrunner.

Point in fact, it feels like a joke that any average “Euphoria” viewer could have offhandedly made during the long wait between Seasons 2 and 3 that Cassie becomes an OnlyFans model … and even worse, one who struggles to even break through on the platform. This doesn’t speak to any growth or evolution for Cassie whatsoever — it’s just more of the same for her character, whose emotional journey is non-existent and hasn’t really been a part of the show since Season 1. “Euphoria” tries to add an ostensibly empowering aspect to Cassie’s career goals, but that, too, falls flat.

Euphoria tries to ’empower’ Cassie with one development, but it’s empty

After their blow-up over Nate at the end of Season 2 of “Euphoria,” it felt like Maddy and Cassie’s long friendship was probably over — but in “America My Dream,” Cassie reaches out to Maddy as the latter is floundering in her job as the assistant to a powerful publicist. Maddy bites and, after the two meet at a posh Hollywood hotel and drink multiple Aperol Spritzes by the pool, Maddy tells Cassie that she’s not sure her approach to her content is working and agrees to manage her.

So what’s the problem here? Sam Levinson actually spells it out for us, both in the dialogue and the voiceover. As we see several of Cassie’s photoshoot attempts, Nue narrates, “It was a shame she was with Nate. Cassie was the kind of girl Maddy dreamed of signing. Beautiful, but directionless. So desperate for attention she’s willing to humiliate herself. Those are the kind of girls you can really mine.” Later, by the pool, Maddy tells Cassie, “Yeah, the doggie video? It’s fun and it’s campy, but it’s not sexy and it’s not timeless. It just feels desperate. It feels like you’re trying way too hard.” Levinson’s outright disdain for Cassie, expressed through these very blunt lines, erases any attempt at empowerment by having another young woman manage her career — and throughout the run of “Euphoria,” Levinson’s love of exploitation has been an issue off-camera as well.

Historically, Sam Levinson has exploited nude female bodies for shock value instead of narrative purpose

During Season 2 of “Euphoria,” there were two concrete examples of Sam Levinson asking actresses to do nude scenes that they found to be totally unnecessary to the actual narrative. Speaking to Vanity Fair, “Friday Night Lights” alum Minka Kelly, who appeared in the second season of the HBO series as a wealthy woman named Samantha who hires Maddy as a babysitter and then befriends her, said she had to ask Levinson to dial back a nude scene.

“[Levinson] thought it would be more interesting if my dress fell to the ground,” Kelly said, noting that she felt uncomfortable. “That was my first day as a guest on this new show, and I just didn’t feel comfortable standing there naked.” Kelly challenged Levinson and won. “I said, ‘I’d love to do this scene, but I think we can keep my dress on,’” she said. “He was like, ‘Okay!’ He didn’t even hesitate. And he shot a beautiful scene and got exactly what he wanted.”

Sydney Sweeney wasn’t immune to this either. Before Season 2 premiered, she told The Independent that she also asked Levinson to tone down the nude scenes. As she remembered, “there are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here.’ He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it’. I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”

It’s good that Levinson backed down, but the fact that the actresses had to say something is … not good. Plus, we’ve seen his worst instincts run amok — on “The Idol.”

Because of Sam Levinson’s worst instincts, Euphoria Season 3 has turned into The Idol

Between seasons of “Euphoria,” Sam Levinson turned his attention to “The Idol,” a one-season terror about a pop star played by Lily-Rose Depp (who’s quite good with the meager material she’s given) who falls in love with a controlling man played by actual pop star The Weeknd (who is terrible). After ending suddenly and leaving viewers baffled, it can be viewed as a cultural artifact that shows us exactly how far Levinson will push boundaries if left to his own devices; instead of a treatise about how pop stars are treated and exploited in society, Levinson simply exploited a fictional pop star to prove some sort of sick and ultimately empty point.

There’s also the issue of how “The Idol” treats its own fictional intimacy coordinator … something that points to a larger issue with how Levinson views these professionals. While “Euphoria” has utilized an intimacy coordinator throughout all of its seasons per HBO’s in-house rules — and Amanda Peek is listed as the intimacy coordinator for Season 3 on the show’s IMDb page — it’s worth looking at “The Idol” and its incredibly bleak view of this extremely important role on set. (Remember the scene where they lock an intimacy coordinator in a bathroom to stop him from doing his job?!) It’s troubling that we know exactly what Levinson thinks of these coordinators, who only exist on set to keep actors feeling safe during vulnerable scenes, and it’s disturbing that on a show that asks so much of its actors, like “Euphoria” — and it’s another factor that speaks to the show’s larger issues.

Where can season 3 of Euphoria go from here for Cassie Howard and Sydney Sweeney?

So what can we expect to see from Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie Howard throughout Season 3 of “Euphoria?” Well, she’ll presumably marry Nate and continue pursuing a career as an erotic influencer, so the real question is how much humiliation Sam Levinson will put the actress and character through when all is said and done.

Something that, honestly, stinks about this whole thing is that Sweeney is put into a position where she has to defend Levinson’s apparent worst impulses. While speaking to W Magazine in 2025, Sweeney said she feels totally comfortable with this sort of material. “I don’t get nervous,” Sweeney said of nude scenes. “I think that the female body is a very powerful thing. And I’m telling my character’s story, so I owe it to them to tell it well and to do what needs to be done.”

This is a great sentiment, but it does not, in any way, match up with Cassie’s journey on “Euphoria.” Cassie’s body isn’t “powerful” in this season, but something to be gawked at and objectified for a very flimsy narrative purpose. What Sweeney “owes” to Cassie boils down to gratuitous and sometimes embarrassing scenes, and if this is the story she’s telling, the rest of Season 3 of “Euphoria” could be rough for Sweeney and Cassie. We’ll have to find out; “Euphoria” airs new episodes at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max every Sunday.

Trump Discusses JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette’s Dynamic Relationship During Mar-a-Lago Encounters

In a recent phone interview with The Five on Thursday evening, former President Donald Trump shared insights into his acquaintance with the late John F. Kennedy Jr., claiming he knew him “very well.” Trump also touched on the intricate dynamics of Kennedy’s relationship with his wife, Carolyn Bessette, describing it as sexually charged.

During the discussion, Fox News Channel host Dana Perino brought up the popular FX series, Love Story, which chronicles the passionate romance between Kennedy and Bessette. She inquired whether Trump felt nostalgic about the 1990s era.

Perino also took the opportunity to ask if Trump had any personal connections with the younger Kennedy.

In response, Trump expressed a preference for the 1980s and elaborated on his familiarity with the son of President John F. Kennedy. He divulged details about Kennedy Jr.’s career, his political aspirations, and the sometimes tumultuous nature of his relationship with Bessette.

“I knew them both pretty well; I knew him much better,” Trump revealed. “They would visit Mar-a-Lago together, and they had a very interesting relationship.”

‘They would bicker, I want to be nice, they would bicker together. In other words, have little fights and then they’d make up and start kissing wildly,’ he described.

Trump said it was one of ‘those’ relationships.

‘And you never know how those relationships are going to turn out,’ the President continued. ‘Frankly, I’ve seen them go on for years and I’ve seen them go on for about two days before they broke up.’

President Donald Trump is photographed leading a Cabinet meeting Thursday morning. Later Thursday evening he called into Fox News Channel's The Five and was asked if he knew the late John F. Kennedy Jr.

Trump also recalled that Kennedy ‘liked me, believe it or not.’

‘He actually put me on the cover of his magazine, George,’ the President said.

The President’s cover shot was on the February/March 2000 issue of George, which was entitled ‘The Trumpster’ and focused on the future commander-in-chief’s political ambitions – ambitions that didn’t come to full fruition for another 16 years.

It was published shortly after the July 16, 1999, plane crash death of Kennedy and Bessette.

‘It was a tragic thing,’ Trump recalled.

The 79-year-old President also claimed that Kennedy planned to sell off George and run for higher office.

‘Look, he was going to sell that magazine, which was a little bit of an anchor, it didn’t work out too well. It was OK,’ Trump said.

‘He was a handsome guy. You don’t get better looking. And he was going to run for politics. He was going to run for the Senate, he told me, and nobody would have beaten him, and he probably would have ended up being president, because he had a lot of good things. He was sort of a great guy,’ Trump said.

A Senate seat had opened up in New York for the 2000 cycle.

The show, Love Story, depicts Kennedy talking to a political consultant about potentially running for the seat.

The winner ended up being Trump’s 2016 Democratic presidential rival, former First Lady Hillary Clinton.

‘I think he would have gone on to be president,’ Trump said of Kennedy.

Trump has attracted the ire of many in the Kennedy family, due to his takeover of the Kennedy Center and destruction of the Jaqueline Kennedy, which went the way of the East Wing last fall.

He also plans to have the new Air Force Ones repainted – a departure from Jackie Kennedy’s classic design.

At the same time, he has a Kennedy in his Cabinet, with JFK Jr.’s cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., serving as his Secretary of Health and Human Services.
