Alabama Teen Faces Murder Charge in Mother’s Death, Allegedly Threatened Father

0

An Alabama teenager has been charged following a brutal knife attack on his parents in their quiet, private community. During the attack, the teen reportedly threatened his father, saying he was “gonna kill” him as he allegedly stabbed him. Newly released photos reveal the blood-stained front porch where his mother tragically lost her life.

The horrific incident was recorded by home surveillance cameras on Sunday night on Augustine Drive in the attractive Belforest complex. The footage captured the moment the 17-year-old threatened and allegedly assaulted his father with a knife.

Neighbor Shawn Scurry, 51, recounted the chilling details to The Post on Wednesday, saying, “You can hear both of them coming out of the house and there’s like one scream from the mom.”

Scurry continued, “Then the father is arguing with his son – and when I say arguing, it’s more of a desperate plea, as in, ‘Why are you doing this?’

He added that in the clip, the father repeatedly begged, “I don’t want to die. Please stop. No.” His cries for help grew louder and more desperate as he implored, “Somebody help me, please, help me,” recalled Scurry.

At one point, the audio captures the son “telling [the dad] he was gonna kill him.”

“Those words are in the video,” she said.

Meanwhile, a large pool of blood stained the front entrance of a neighbor’s home where cops say 37-year-old Samantha Baker was butchered around 9 p.m. Sunday.

Another haunting image exclusively obtained by The Post shows blood splattered and smeared across a glass window overlooking the spot where Samantha was found dead.

The bloodbath began after Samantha and her 46-year-old husband Lance Baker got into a heated argument with their 17-year-old son over a disciplinary issue inside their family home, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Captain Justin Correa told The Post Wednesday.

That’s when the boy – whose name is being withheld by police – turned a kitchen knife on his parents, allegedly stabbing them both “multiple times,” according to Correa.

The parents fled outside in a desperate bid to escape – but the attack continued.

Lance’s spine-chilling screams could be heard as he ran door to door down the block, leaving bloodied handprints on neighbors’ front doors while seeking help – with his son right on his tail, according to the traumatized neighbor.

“It was like fighting off a bee that keeps stinging you,” Scurry said, and claimed that another neighbor’s surveillance camera captured the teen repeatedly stabbing his father outside another nearby home.

Correa confirmed that doorbell camera footage of the assault had been handed over to police, and said at least “a few” of the neighbors were not home when Lance was looking for help.

Lance only “went to doors where people were on vacation – that’s why they didn’t answer and that’s why he was becoming helpless,” Scurry claimed.

Scurry, who was home at the time, only became slightly aware of the horror unfolding when she spotted the Bakers’ dog wandering around her front door.

“I walked with the dog back to their house, rang their doorbell. Nobody answered and I went around to the garage,” she recalled.

That’s when she heard cries in the distance.

“I heard… ‘Help me.’ I couldn’t find where it was coming from,” Scurry said, adding that she went back into her home after that.

The teen eventually retreated to his family’s home and called 911, said authorities, who described the attack as an isolated domestic matter.

Cops arrested him at the home without incident, according to Correa, who pushed back on reports that the alleged killer barricaded himself inside the house.

As emergency crews flooded their typically quiet street, Scurry said she stepped outside again and saw Samantha’s body before the coroner arrived.

“I saw her face down with stab wounds all over her back,” the shaken neighbor said.

Samantha, a realtor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lance, a US Army Reserve Battalion Commander with the 1184th Deployment and Distribution Support Battalion in Mobile, was flown to a local hospital in critical condition, according to cops.

As of Wednesday, the father of two was still in the hospital, where his condition had become stable, Correa said.

The teen, who will be tried as an adult, is facing charges of murder and attempted murder. He is being held in jail on a $1 million bond after his arraignment on Monday.

The family’s younger teen son was not at the home at the time of the attack, police said.

“A very sad event for sure,” Correa said.

Caitlin Clark WNBA Drama Unfolds: Teammate’s Accusation Revives Rivalry Tensions

0

The flames of controversy within the WNBA have been reignited, this time fueled by comments from Caitlin Clark’s teammate about a shocking incident involving the Indiana Fever’s standout player.

Last month, the league found itself embroiled in another scandal after an altercation between Clark, a central figure for the WNBA, and Alyssa Thomas from the Phoenix Mercury. During a heated matchup, Thomas delivered a punch to Clark’s throat, leaving fans and players stunned.

The incident erupted while Clark, a guard for the Fever, was making her way toward the basket. She ended up on the floor amidst a fervent struggle with several Mercury defenders vying to take control of the ball.

As Clark lay on the ground, Thomas seized the moment, launching herself forward and striking Clark in the neck with a closed fist – a moment captured and widely debated in the sports community.

In response, Aliyah Boston, a star player for the Fever, has openly criticized Thomas’s actions. Speaking on her podcast with WNBA legend Candace Parker, Boston questioned the aggression displayed during the game, further feeding the ongoing dialogue around the incident.

‘That should’ve never been done,’ the former No 1 overall pick said on the Post Moves Show. ‘You don’t put your hand on someone’s throat and damn-near kick them on the floor. It’s a basketball game. What are we doing?’

Parker, a three-time WNBA champion, referenced her own experience as a targeted superstar in the league as she echoed Boston’s outrage.

‘I’ve been on the side of some players’ rough play,’ she said. ‘So, if there’s anybody that can probably speak about this and being roughed up and disrespected, it’s me. But in terms of taking it farther than that, it’s like, what are we doing?’

The reaction to Thomas’ punch on Clark has sparked a firestorm directed at the player, officials and the league for what some believe is a routine failure to protect the Indiana Fever star.

In the days that followed, Thomas said she was racially abused online and received threats toward herself and her family – including her children.

Clark spoke for five minutes to media in Indianapolis last Friday – which were her first public comments since the incident took place on June 24.

‘As I’ve stood up here and said before, like the harassment, the hate, none of that is okay. That goes for the opposing team we play, that goes for my teammates, that goes for my coaches, there should never be a question of character,’ Clark told reporters.

‘I’ve always stood up here and said that, and that’s truly what I believe. That’s how I was raised. So none of that is okay and I don’t want anybody to ever experience that.’

Clark also believes that the media’s focus on the incident nine days after it happened is not helping the situation and isn’t helping the league.

‘It’s really interesting to me because, I turned the TV on on Sunday, and that game was on Wednesday, and that’s all people are still talking about,’ Clark recalled. ‘And I feel like that’s just a real disservice to our league.

‘And I get it, you talk about it, you talk about whether it’s flagrant, you talk about whatever it is.

‘But to continue to beat down, beat down, and then for the narrative to be taken other places, that’s just really not acceptable. I think it’s just— it’s hard to see, you know.’

Clark said that the constant conversation about it made her feel ‘bad for the players that were playing the games those days. And also, I feel bad for my teammates.

‘They played on Friday and they dominated and they played really well and nobody wanted to talk about that. They were just worried about everything else.’

She added, ‘I think it’s all of our jobs to help refocus the narratives a lot of the times and we can do better at that. And I think it’ll help our game grow a lot more.’

Clearwater Teen Takeover Leads to Shooting: Six Arrest Warrants Issued Amid Disturbance

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — Arrest warrants have been issued for six individuals following a tumultuous event termed a “teen takeover” which spiraled into a confrontation and shooting in late May, announced the Clearwater Police Department.

This decisive action by authorities came after an exhaustive and “detailed” examination of digital evidence stemming from the incident on May 31 at Clearwater Beach, as stated on Wednesday by the police department.

The warrants include charges of rioting against five juveniles, one of whom being a 17-year-old injured by gunfire during the events. Through the investigation, police discovered that this teenager, despite being a shooting victim, was also actively “engaged in riotous behavior.”

Among those charged in the chaos of the “teen takeover” is an adult identified as Nigel Charleak Carleston, 18, hailing from Valrico, as confirmed by Clearwater police.

As of Wednesday, two of the juvenile suspects had been taken into custody. Officers said they were working with agencies in Pasco, Hillsborough and Polk counties to arrest the four remaining suspects.

The chaos of the incident was captured through multiple videos, with one person recording the fight that broke out in a parking lot near Coronado Drive. Several people could then be seen running from the area.

It followed another “teen takeover” in Tampa during which eight juveniles were arrested. Police and state officials have since been cracking down on the growing social media trend by increasing patrols and going after the event organizers.

“If you think you can come to our city and expect to get away with this, think again,” said Clearwater Police Chief Gandy. “Our officers and detectives will relentlessly pursue the leads necessary to put you in jail and hold you accountable.”

Missing Scuba Diver Sparks Investigation and Potential Charges for Dive Instructor

A diving instructor faces the possibility of criminal charges following the disappearance of an Argentine woman during a scuba trip.

On July 6, Thiago Nahuel Pocovi was brought before the court concerning the death of Sofía Devries, who went missing on February 16 while diving at the site of the former Hu Shun Yu shipwreck near Puerto Madryn, as reported by Todo Noticias.

The 26-year-old instructor is being charged by prosecutors for continuing the dive despite challenging underwater conditions that severely restricted visibility, making it hard to monitor the entire group, according to El Chubut.

Underwater, Devries was observed experiencing distress and removed her regulator. Although her diving partner attempted to assist, reports from Todo Noticias indicate that she ultimately drowned. Her body was found days later following a comprehensive search operation.

Chief Prosecutor Alex Williams informed the court, via El Chubut, that visibility during the dive was “practically zero.” It was revealed that Devries had only completed her initial scuba certification the day before and was on her second certification dive 900 meters off the shore when she disappeared.

According to Williams, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) certification requires instructors to maintain supervision and direct contact with their divers. He alleged that Pocovi failed to do so, losing sight of some of the divers in his care.

Defense attorney Adrián Peroy did not oppose the prosecutor’s request to open the investigation, but maintained that his client was innocent and fully complied with all protocols, while also disputing the version of events laid out by the prosecution, El Chubut reported.

Pocovi—who appeared virtually from Buenos Aires—exercised his right to remain silent during the proceedings, according to La Nacion.

According to Dive Magazine, the former Chinese fishing vessel was sunk in 2017 to serve as an artificial reef and has become a popular diving spot, typically used for “advanced” training dives.

Authorities have reported that a man from Mexico, facing multiple deportations and driving with a revoked license, was involved in a fatal collision that took the life of a 6-year-old girl from North Carolina last week.

Jaime Santiago Corona was behind the wheel of a Dodge Ram on July 3 when he allegedly ignored a stop sign, plowing into an SUV driven by 35-year-old Kelli Toler, who was in Pitt County with her two children at the time, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Following the crash, Toler and her 4-year-old son sustained serious injuries and were rushed to ECU Health Greenville. Tragically, her 6-year-old daughter, Calli Toler, was declared dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed Jaime Santiago Corona, from Mexico and living in the U.S. illegally, is accused of causing the crash that resulted in the death of young Calli Toler and injuries to her mother and brother. This incident adds to Corona’s history of having been deported from the country on three separate occasions. (Pitt County Sheriff’s Office)

An online fundraising campaign revealed that the Toler family was on a casual trip, planning to have lunch before heading to a swimming pool, when the tragic collision abruptly changed their lives.

“This monster caused a car crash that killed a 6-year-old girl and injured a mother and a 4-year-old,” said Department of Homeland Security (DHS) acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This tragedy was 100% preventable. Our prayers are with Calli Toler and her family.”

Corona was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, failure to stop for a stop sign, careless and reckless driving and driving while a license is revoked.

He illegally reentered the U.S. three times, which is a felony, DHS said. Corona also has a history of driving under the influence.

His criminal history includes homicide-negligent manslaughter with a vehicle, multiple counts of obstruction of police, DUI, failure to appear and multiple traffic offenses, according to DHS.

A detainer hold has been issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News that it will cooperate with ICE.

Fiat Introduces Compact European Electric Vehicle to the US Market at an Affordable Price—With a Caveat

0

Fiat is making a bold move by introducing its compact electric vehicle, the Topolino, to the American market. This two-seat neighborhood electric vehicle (EV) is not only an environmentally friendly choice but also comes with a price tag that is lighter than many used cars—a mere $13,995. However, its top speed is limited to just 19 mph.

On Tuesday, the Stellantis-owned brand announced that U.S. consumers can now place orders for the Topolino through a select number of dealerships. This budget-friendly EV’s cost rises slightly to $14,985 once destination fees are factored in.

Fiat’s competitive pricing comes at a time when automobiles are significantly costly. In the first quarter of 2026, the average price for three-year-old used vehicles was $31,548. This marks the second-highest first-quarter pricing on record, trailing just behind the first-quarter peak of 2022, which reached $32,164, according to data from Edmunds.

However, buyers should be mindful of the Topolino’s limitations. According to Fiat, the vehicle is tailored for leisurely use in areas like private neighborhoods, resorts, coastal regions, and communities that are suitable for golf carts.

Measuring roughly 8 feet in length and weighing 1,073 pounds, the Topolino offers a modest range of up to 46 miles on a single charge, courtesy of its 5.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. Fiat reports that the EV can be completely recharged in around five hours using a 2.3-kilowatt AC charger.

By the end of the summer, owners will be able to add a free conversion kit that turns the Topolino into a federally regulated low-speed vehicle, or LSV.

The EV is about 8 feet long, weighs 1,073 pounds and gets up to 46 miles of range from a 5.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. Fiat

The upgrade would raise the Topolino’s top speed to 25 mph and allow it on public roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.

“An LSV is a federally regulated street-legal motor vehicle capable of speeds between 20 and 25 mph. Unlike standard golf carts restricted to the golf course, LSVs are legal on public roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less,” the company said in the announcement.

The vehicle will be offered in two body styles, the Topolino and the Topolino Dolcevita.

Features include a Verde Vita exterior color, 14-inch wheels with vintage covers, LED lamps, hinged opening windows, a digital cluster, phone holder, bag hook and luggage space.

The standard Topolino comes with a panoramic sunroof, while the Topolino Dolcevita adds a roll-back soft top and rope-style doors.

“Topolino represents a new chapter for the brand in the U.S. — defined not just by size, but by purpose,” Olivier Francois, brand CEO at Fiat, said in a statement. “With Topolino, we bring a feeling, a lifestyle, a reminder that mobility can be joyful, expressive and beautifully simple.”

The U.S. launch gives Fiat another electric model beyond the 500e as the brand looks to expand its American customer base, according to Reuters.

The Topolino first launched in Europe in 2023. Its name, Italian for Mickey Mouse, comes from one of Fiat’s best-known cars from the 1930s.

Wilson was also notably absent from the Legally Blonde reunion in June, which saw stars including Reese Witherspoon and Ali Larter join forces to promote prequel series, Elle.

He has kept his romance with Yates largely low-key – with the pair making their sole public appearance together at the Los Angeles Premiere of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 in June 2024.

The brother of Owen Wilson had previously spoken openly about his desire to become a father. In a 2019 interview, he said, ‘I’m 47, I’m ready for that. I need to get to work.’

Ahead of his 50th birthday in 2021, the actor said he was beginning to understand the term ‘midlife crisis.’

‘Thirty didn’t matter to me. Forty didn’t matter to me,’ he told People magazine. ‘I just steamrolled right through it, but 50 – I don’t know if it’s getting to me because I am sore when I wake up in the middle of the night, and I am forgetting the names of people I know.

‘It’s definitely one of those things that has had me thinking, oh, okay. So this is where the phrase midlife crisis comes from. I’m definitely starting to feel panicky about some stuff.’

Before getting involved with his current love in early 2023, he dated several famous women.

Wilson courted Gwyneth Paltrow for about one year in 2001 and Drew Barrymore from 1997 to 1999.

In early 2022, Barrymore confirmed that she and the actor were together for two years when they were younger and revealed they had an ‘open relationship.’

‘When we first met, we were young and wild,’ the Charlie’s Angels vet said.

While speaking to Kate Hudson – who chatted about dating Wilson’s brother Owen – on her daytime talk show, she said: ‘I was dating him, but I think he was also dating other people.’

‘It was an open relationship,’ she added. ‘We were young.’

They met while filming the 1997 comedy-action flick Best Men and also starred together in the 1998 rom-com Home Fries.

‘We’re just young, we’re having fun, we’re all playing, acting, hanging out. You’re not taking it all so seriously, and it was fun and we had the best time,’ Barrymore said lightly.

Wilson was also romantically linked to About Last Night actress Joy Bryant in 2003.

He has a verified Instagram account, where he rarely posts to his 11,000 followers.

The entertainer’s latest upload was in October 2025 – a photo of a book titled Here Beside the Rising Tide: Jerry Garcia, The Grateful Dead, and an American Awakening.

He captioned the post, ‘Great book by the writer Jim Newton.’

Miami Residents Among Trio Sentenced for Mail Theft in Augusta

GEORGIA () – Three individuals have received federal prison sentences following their convictions for engaging in mail theft in the Augusta area.

The U.S. Department of Justice for the Southern District of Georgia reports that Joshua Mister Holmes, 21, hailing from Miami, Florida, and Coleshia Carter, 22, from East Point, Georgia, faced sentencing after admitting guilt to charges of Theft of Mail, Bank Fraud, and Aggravated Identity Theft. Meanwhile, Torrance Urban Miller, 49, also from Miami, Florida, was sentenced after pleading guilty to Theft of Mail.

Court documents and testimony revealed that Holmes, Carter, and Miller orchestrated a scheme focused on stealing mail, specifically targeting business checks from U.S. postal boxes in the Augusta area over a period stretching from January 2023 to January 2024.

These documents indicate that the trio took the stolen business checks and used them to forge fake checks. These counterfeit checks were subsequently deposited into the accounts of their accomplices, from which they would withdraw the funds.

Eastern Illinois University Honors Late Football Star Tragically Lost in Shooting

Tragedy has struck the community of Harvey, Illinois, as a promising young athlete, once a part of the Eastern Illinois University (EIU) football team, fell victim to gun violence earlier this week.

The grim confirmation came from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, identifying the victim as 20-year-old Keshawn Lewis-Hunt. He died on July 6 after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

In the wake of this devastating news, Eastern Illinois University expressed its sorrow over the loss of one of its former student-athletes, a member of their beloved Panthers.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Keshawn’s family, friends, teammates, and all who knew him,” read a statement issued by the university. They emphasized the community’s commitment to supporting those affected, noting that no further comments would be made to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

Officials said Lewis-Hunt was shot and killed in Harvey, which is about two hours north of Champaign. According to the City of Harvey, police responded to the 16000 block of Ashland Avenue for a reported shooting around 1:17 a.m. on July 6.

Once police got on the scene, they found one person, later identified as Lewis-Hunt, suffering from “an apparent gunshot wound.” He was taken to UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Police said several other people were wounded by gunfire and self-transported to the hospital. At this time, law enforcement do not believe there is any danger to the public. Anyone with more information should reach out to the Harvey Police Department Detective Division at 708-331-3030 ext. 226.

WCIA’s sister station WGN reported the shooting stemmed from a fight that broke out at a house party. The suspect is still at-large. WCIA reached out to the police department for further information on the investigation, but did not immediately receive a response back.

Lewis-Hunt redshirted the 2024 season at EIU and was not listed on the university’s roster for the 2025 or 2026 seasons. According to his bio, Lewis-Hunt played at Morgan Park High School and was a two-time All-Chicago Public League selection. His team reached the IHSA Class 5A state quarterfinals during both his junior and senior seasons.
