Anthony Hopkins is legendary for transforming himself for roles, but he was virtually unrecognizable in a photo posted to Instagram on Sunday.

At 88, the double Oscar winner was gearing up to cheer for England as they faced off against Mexico in the World Cup. Accompanied by his wife, Stella Arroyave, who is 70, he posed for a photo, sporting an expression that suggested he was in a lighthearted competitive spirit.

It was clear which team he supported, as he donned the 2026 England jersey. Meanwhile, Arroyave, a native of Colombia, displayed her loyalty by wearing Mexico’s distinctive green jersey.

The image was captioned with the words, ‘We’re all winners… #WorldCup2026.’

Hopkins continues to keep a busy schedule with seven projects in various stages of post-production or pre-production, according to information on IMDb.

Recently marking 48 years of sobriety, Hopkins remains most celebrated for his haunting portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 film “Silence of the Lambs,” a performance that earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor.

He revisited the cannibalistic serial killer and former forensic psychiatrist in the sequel Hannibal (2001) and the prequel Red Dragon (2002), which doubled as a remake of Michael Mann’s classic serial-killer thriller Manhunter (1986), in which Succession star Brian Cox played a very different version of Lecter years earlier.

As Stevens in The Remains of the Day (1993), Hopkins delivered an acclaimed performance as the repressed and devoted butler who gives up personal happiness and love to serve his employer, Lord Darlington.

The film also starred Emma Thompson as the estate’s housekeeper, Miss Kenton, whose affections Hopkins’s character couldn’t return until it was too late.

Hopkins won a second Oscar for Best Actor in 2021 for his role in The Father, which costarred Olivia Colman.

He remains active on social media as well, regularly posting updates about his artwork, piano playing, dance moves and culinary creations, or sometimes just cheerful greetings to his fans.

The latest post of him wearing an England shirt caused some debate in the comments, especially given his Welsh roots.

Born in Port Talbot, Wales, Hopkins has expressed nostalgia for his Welsh heritage over the years and continues to support Welsh causes.

‘Take that shirt off Sir… you’re Welsh!’ one fan wrote, while another commented: ‘Olympus has fallen.’

‘Anthony Hopkins is Welsh, not English,’ a third ventured to say.

‘What are you doing????? You are Welsh,’ another pointed out.

Others defended the actor, saying he was merely enjoying the sport as millions of others were doing around the globe.

England eventually beat Mexico 3–2 to reach the World Cup quarter-finals.

Devoted followers of the Bucks might find themselves reaching for a tissue.

On Monday, it was confirmed that Giannis Antetokounmpo, also known as the Greek Freak, has been traded to the Miami Heat. In the wake of this news, he shared a heartfelt video across his social media platforms, extending his gratitude to the Bucks and declaring his affection for the city of Milwaukee.

In the video, Antetokounmpo noted, “I hope the championship trophy we brought to this city holds significance for its residents, as it did for me.” He further emphasized, “I want you to hear it directly from me: Milwaukee will always occupy a special place in my heart. It’s truly my home.”

He went on to say, “Regardless of where life takes me, Milwaukee will forever remain my city, my team, my family.”

The trade deal saw Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis going to the Heat on June 22, with the Bucks acquiring Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, and the 13th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Nate Ament.

Antetokounmpo accomplished everything to his NBA resume in the green and white.

Despite missing the playoffs in his final season with the team, he cemented his legacy as one of greatest Bucks ever.

But at the same time, Bucks general manager Jon Horst remained eternally grateful for the stability Antetokounmpo brought the organization. 

“Since we drafted him in 2013, Giannis had transformed the Milwaukee Bucks in every way – on the court, in our locker room and throughout the community,” Horst wrote in a statement to Bucks fans. “Over 13 seasons, he became an extraordinary leader, teammate and representative of this city, and one of the defining players of his generation.”

“The standard he set will continue here.”

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Birmingham man, aged 32, has been sentenced to over a decade in prison due to several firearm-related offenses, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Phillip Williams Jr.

Robert Garrett, a local resident, received a 130-month prison sentence following his guilty plea. He faced charges that included two counts for being a felon found with a firearm and a single count related to possessing a gun to further a drug-trafficking operation.

Court records reveal that Garrett was pulled over by Birmingham police during a traffic stop on April 12, 2023. After officers ran his details through the system, they found he had outstanding warrants. Garrett was arrested, and officers reportedly noticed the smell of marijuana emanating from the car.

In the course of their search, officers found firearms and a backpack filled with marijuana. Several months later, on August 3, 2023, agents visited a residence to investigate a federal firearms violation linked to Garrett. They detected marijuana on him and wafting from the house as Garrett greeted them at the door.

Subsequently, authorities secured a search warrant, and upon searching the premises, they uncovered additional marijuana, digital scales, ammunition, and other items.

Authorities have confirmed that a well-known influencer from South Florida was fatally shot in a drive-by incident early Sunday morning.

Brianna Johnson, 21, who was recognized on social media as dreamdoll_brii, was traveling in a striking lime green luxury SUV along with two others when they were caught in a barrage of bullets, as reported by the Miramar Police Department to News Media on Monday.

Surveillance footage is said to have captured the tragic event, which took place around 5:30 a.m., shortly after the Fourth of July celebrations had concluded.

Johnson was widely admired for her engaging lifestyle and beauty posts, amassing nearly 500,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram. Her TikTok presence under the username _itgirlbri boasted about 388,000 followers, while her Instagram account attracted approximately 88,800 followers.

According to police, Johnson was traveling in a lime green Lamborghini Urus when the SUV reached an intersection and a white sedan “pulled alongside the driver’s side and opened fire, striking three occupants.” 

Surveillance video obtained by local outlet WSVN appears to show a light-colored sedan following the victims’ Lamborghini down the street before gunfire erupts. 

Moments later, the Lamborghini was seen drifting through the intersection before crashing into a nearby house as the suspected shooter’s vehicle sped away.

Police said they were alerted to the shooting after receiving multiple ShotSpotter notifications in the area.

Miramar Police Chief Delrish Moss described the gunfire as rapid-fire, according to WSVN. Photos circulating social media also appear to show the Lamborghini riddled with a dozen bullet holes along its doors. 

According to WSVN, the three victims had attended a large party at a nearby home before the shooting. Sources told the outlet the group later stopped at a gas station, where a fight allegedly broke out.

Investigators believe the victims’ luxury SUV was then targeted and followed, according to reports. 

Johnson ultimately “succumbed to her injuries,” police said.

The two other occupants, whose identities have not been released, were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

A woman identifying herself as Johnson’s cousin, who goes by Instagram handle pdolly26, shared a series of Instagram Stories mourning her death and identifying the victim as the South Florida influencer. 

Numerous fans also began flooding Johnson’s social media accounts with messages of condolence. 

Police said the shooting remains an active and ongoing homicide investigation. 

This week, Sabrina Carpenter seemed to finally reveal her fashion-forward ensemble for the much-anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift and NFL superstar Travis Kelce, both aged 36, celebrated their marriage on Friday with a spectacular event held at a renowned venue in New York City.

Swift and Kelce shared the news that they had officially become husband and wife in blockbuster style on Friday evening, lighting up the iconic music venue with video ads which read ‘JUST&T MARRIED,’ a romantic nod to their shared initials. 

Swift’s publicist issued a press release shortly after the newlyweds said ‘I do,’ sharing several of the intimate details about the nuptials.

She revealed that Adam Sandler officiated the wedding, the couple wore custom Christian Dior Haute Couture, Swift opted out of bridesmaids and chose her brother, Austin Swift, as her ‘man of honor’ instead and, as the Daily Mail exclusively reported, Kelce named his big brother Jason Kelce as his best man.

Breathtaking footage obtained exclusively by the Daily Mail showed how Madison Square Garden was transformed into an enchanted garden of towering trees, emerald drapery and soaring archways for the event.

Emerald green drapery hung from the ceiling to complete the ambience, while the stadium’s usual blue seats were chicly covered in nude-colored coverings.

A towering ceiling-height structure, with gray embellishments and archways, dominated the space, resembling a chapel or the ‘castle’ that sparked frenzied speculation prior to the event.

The exclusive video also showed a romantically lit hallway with pink walls, peach drapery and matching carpet. The entrance featured a sentimental touch, as several photos of Swift and Kelce throughout their relationship were featured on the walls. 

All of the sweet photographs, including the couple’s August 2025 backyard proposal, were inside large gold frames. A large ‘T and T’ logo, which seems to have featured in other parts of the nuptials, was displayed in the center. 

Both the bride and groom were dressed in Christian Dior, her publicist announced.

There were no bridesmaids, instead, Taylor’s brother Austin acted as her ‘man of honor’, and Travis’s brother Jason was the best man.

The groom’s mother, Donna Kelce, has since broken her silence on the nuptials – where guests were reportedly issued non-disclosure agreements – though admitted she wasn’t at liberty to say much.

‘I really can’t say a heck of a lot except it was magical, man! Magical,’ Donna told Macy’s during their 50th Fourth of July Celebration in New York City. 

The couple’s Love Story began three years ago this week, when Kelce first laid eyes on the songstress at her Kansas City Eras Tour concert on July 8, 2023.
