Midair Catastrophe: Navy Jet Collision Forces Daring Parachute Escapes

0

In a dramatic video capturing a heart-pounding moment, two Navy jets collided in midair during an airshow, necessitating the pilots’ swift ejection and parachute deployment.

Before a shocked audience, the pilots executed an emergency escape as their aircraft collided at the Gunfighter Skies event on Sunday.

This terrifying collision unfolded just two miles northwest of Idaho’s Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Footage circulating on social media depicts the collision of two Boeing EA-18G Growlers, which spiraled downwards after the impact, before crashing to the ground.

Fortunately, the pilots managed to eject safely, seen descending with their parachutes against a backdrop of rising black smoke.

The base reportedly locked down shortly after 12.30pm, as Mountain Home Air Force base spokesperson Antwain Hanks confirmed the collision to the outlet.

‘We had four good parachutes,’ an air show announcer told Idaho Statesman.

‘The crews were able to eject. They’re located one mile south of where the smoke is. The parachutes came down.

‘Crash fire rescue and various other emergency services are on their way to the pilots and crew. There were four good parachutes,’ per a follow-up announcement.

Shortly after 1 pm an announcer told attendees that all four Navy pilots were ‘found safe.’

‘That is always a positive in our world. If you are so inclined to take the time now to say a prayer,’ the announcement continued.

An Idaho Statesman reporter in attendance reported sparks in the sky, followed by smoke clouds and pilots descending by parachute.

Along with first responders, an emergency helicopter was dispatched to the scene, the outlet reported.

A witness who captured the harrowing incident on video spoke to NBC News about the chaos.

‘I heard someone next to me say “We are down,” I turned around and saw four parachutes coming down, then black smoke appeared,” the witness video told the outlet.

‘We are currently still on the airshow field and not allowed to leave at this time,’ they added.

They added that the atmosphere is ‘very calm, controlled, and well managed,’ despite the collision.

The last Gunfighter Skies airshow was in 2018, when a hang glider pilot tragically died in a horrific accident.

Another tragic incident occurred in 2003 when a Thunderbird plane crashed, though the pilot ejected safely.

Local police posted a statement on Facebook officially cancelling The Mountain Home Air Show.

‘Please do not travel to or attempt to access Mountain Home Air Force Base as a spectator, as the event will no longer be taking place.

‘We understand many were looking forward to this event and appreciate your understanding and cooperation,’ they added.

Austin Weekend Violence: Ten Separate Shootings Result in Four Injuries

0

In Austin, Texas, two individuals have been apprehended, and authorities are actively pursuing a third suspect linked to a spree of at least 10 random shootings over the weekend. These incidents, which included attacks on fire stations, resulted in four people being injured, officials announced on Sunday.

In response to the ongoing threat, the city had earlier instructed residents in a significant portion of Austin’s southern region to remain indoors. However, this precautionary measure was lifted later in the day after the Austin Police Department confirmed the detention of two suspects through a statement posted on X.

The series of shootings unfolded from Saturday night into Sunday morning. Among the targets were two fire stations, with the attacks leaving one individual seriously injured and three others sustaining minor injuries, according to Police Chief Lisa Davis.

Chief Davis noted that the suspects also appeared to be engaged in vehicle thefts as they moved through the city.

“At this point, we have not identified a specific motive,” remarked Mayor Kirk Watson. “The acts seem to be random, with the suspects seemingly switching vehicles during their rampage.”

Davis said at least four vehicles were used by the suspects.

Texas Authorities Apprehend Suspects Tied to Series of Random Attacks

Two individuals suspected of involvement in a series of 10 random shootings were taken into custody following a tumultuous weekend in Austin, Texas. Meanwhile, authorities continue their search for a third suspect who remains at large.

According to Police Chief Lisa Davis, the suspects are Hispanic males in their late teens. One is characterized by medium-length wavy hair, while the other sports longer locks.

The teenagers were last seen driving a white KIA Optima but are also known to have used several other stolen vehicles, including a black or dark blue Hyundai, a gold Hyundai sedan, and a silver Mazda four-door, to carry out the attacks.

The arrests were made on Sunday evening. However, the Austin Police Department has confirmed that a third suspect is still on the run and believed to be in the Manor area.

Manor Police have stated that they are collaborating with other law enforcement agencies in efforts to apprehend the remaining suspect.

The two teens’ arrest comes just hours after police issued a shelter in place warning as they searched for the two men who allegedly carried out a series of shootings that left up to four people injured.

The shootings began on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning.

The suspects had fired at two fire stations, authorities said, but a motive for the shootings remains unclear.

‘We don’t have any specific motive that has been identified,’ Mayor Kirk Watson said at a news conference.

‘In fact, these actions appear to be random.’

The first shooting came at 9pm Saturday on Wentworth Drive in east Austin, where the suspects fired toward Fire Station 26, CBS Austin reports.

The second shooting then came at around 8am near the intersection of James Ranch Road and Ballydawn Drive in southeast Austin, where a male victim was shot once and transported to a local hospital, where authorities say he remains in serious but stable condition.

A third shooting happened around 10.50am on Sunday on Montebello Road in southwest Austin, where suspects fired toward Fire Station 32.

Another shooting near the intersection of Burton Drive and Oltorf Street was also under investigation.

A witness there reported that someone in a vehicle had opened fire, possibly following an argument.

One person was shot and transported to a local hospital, where he had to undergo surgery on Sunday.

In total, authorities said four individuals were shot in the teens’ rampage. One sustained serious injuries, while three others suffered minor injuries.

No firefighters were among those injured, as the Austin Firefighters Association reported only minor damage to at least one fire apparatus and both stations.

Fire stations were also placed on a citywide lockdown, though crews remained fully staffed and continued responding to calls, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

A shelter-in-place order now remains in several Manor-area neighborhoods including those around Ralph Ritchie Road and Suncrest Road, North FM 973 near Suncrest Road and Tower Road, and the Presidential Meadows, Greenbury and Stonewater subdivisions.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for any information leading to an arrest, but residents are urged not to approach any suspects or any suspicious vehicles.

Allegations emerged involving two teenage girls, aged 16 and 17, and a 19-year-old man, who reportedly assaulted a 25-year-old bus driver and another male passenger of the same age.

After being removed from the bus, the situation escalated as the trio allegedly targeted two female tourists, aged 27 and 28, visiting from the United States, right there on the street. Fortunately, none of the alleged victims sustained injuries requiring medical attention.

UAE Nuclear Power Plant Targeted in Drone Strike Amidst Rising Tensions with Iran, Trump Warns of Urgent Countdown

0

IN BRIEF

  • The UAE’s defence ministry said the drone that targeted the facility was one of three.
  • Trump is expected to meet top national security advisers to discuss further attacks on Iran.

A nighttime drone strike ignited a fire at a nuclear facility in the United Arab Emirates, authorities reported, as U.S. President Donald Trump urged Iran to act swiftly amid stalled efforts to resolve the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.

Officials in the UAE announced they are probing the origins of the attack, asserting their sovereign right to retaliate against such “terrorist actions.”

The UAE’s defense ministry disclosed that two additional drones were intercepted successfully, noting that the drones originated from the “western border,” though further details were not provided.

The drone that breached defenses struck an electric generator located outside the core area of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. The incident did not affect radiological safety levels, and no injuries were reported.

The International Atomic Energy Agency stated that emergency diesel generators were supplying power to the plant’s “unit 3,” and urged for “maximum military restraint” in proximity to any nuclear power facility, while monitoring the situation attentively.

During the war that began with US and Israeli strikes against Iran on 28 February, Iran has repeatedly targeted the UAE and other Gulf states that host US military bases.

Iran stepped up such attacks on the UAE earlier this month after Trump announced a naval mission to try to open the Strait of Hormuz, which Trump suspended after 48 hours.

US-Iran talks in diplomatic deadlock

More than five weeks after a tenuous ceasefire in the conflict took effect, US and Iranian demands remain far apart despite diplomatic efforts to end the war and reopen the strait, the world’s most important shipping route for oil and gas.

Washington has called for Tehran to dismantle its nuclear program and lift its hold on the strait. Iran has demanded compensation for war damage, an end to a US blockade of Iranian ports and a halt to fighting on all fronts, including in Lebanon, where Israel is carrying out a bombing campaign and ground invasion.

Trump, whose harsh rhetoric has failed to break the stalemate, said in a post on Truth Social: “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”

Trump is expected to meet top national security advisers on Tuesday (local time) to discuss options for military action regarding Iran, Axios reported.

Trump held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week without securing an indication from China that it would help resolve the conflict and has previously threatened to resume attacks if Iran does not agree to a deal.

A senior spokesperson for the Iranian armed ‌forces, Abolfazl Shekarchi, said on Sunday that if Trump’s threats were carried out, the US would “face new, aggressive, and surprise scenarios, and sink into a self-made quagmire”.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the US and Israel had tried to shift the blame for destabilising energy markets following their “unprovoked military aggression against Iran”.

Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen Emotionally Responds On-Air to Redistricting Impact on Reelection Prospects

0

WASHINGTON — In an emotional moment, Tennessee Representative Steve Cohen tearfully addressed his decision to withdraw from the upcoming election, citing recent redistricting that effectively blocked his chances of winning.

As the only Democrat in Tennessee’s congressional delegation, Cohen expressed deep frustration over the Republican-led redrawing of the 9th district, which predominantly comprises minority communities. He criticized the redistricting process as detrimental to the democratic process.

“This situation saddens me,” the outgoing Democrat shared with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation. “I don’t understand the calls to just stand and fight.”

“Why battle on when the district’s been altered to the point of making victory impossible? It’s illogical,” he remarked.

Having represented the Memphis-based district since 2007, Cohen emphasized how this year’s mid-decade redistricting, a contentious issue nationwide, is typically not undertaken at this time.

He accused retiring Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) of caving to pressure from President Trump and Republicans in DC to squeeze out another House seat for them.

Lee had signed the new map into effect on May 7, which sliced up the 9th District into three new Republican-leaning districts.

While discussing the ordeal, Cohen began to well up, something he acknowledged to Cuomo.

“It’s funny, my press conference today is the most cameras I think I’ve had since the Victoria incident. And here we are again. And I got tears,” the Tennessee Democrat reflected.

That’s a reference to the wild controversy in 2013 when it was revealed that a woman named Victoria Brink, whom he claimed was his biological daughter, was shown in a paternity test not to be his.

Cohen also reflected on the fact that he is a white man representing a black majority district. Republicans moved to carve it up in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s gutting of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

“I’ve got a great district, wonderful people. They’ve supported me so well,” the congressman said. “You know, it’s an amazing thing that the African-American community supported me for 20 years as they did.”

“And the Republicans don’t see it, and they just tear it apart because they have no perspective of caring about African-Americans or caring about people getting together and anything nice that happens. It’s a tough sport, and they play it tough.”

Tennessee’s primaries are slated for Aug. 6.

‘All I want is to hug you and kiss you and to hold you in my arms. I don’t know how to process that you aren’t here anymore. I love you always Brandon, forever and always’.

Amber concluded the post by saying: ‘please keep watching over me, I need you.’

Clarke, who was selected by Memphis with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft, died just four months before his 30th birthday.

His passing also came one month after he was arrested in Arkansas on charges including speeding and trafficking a controlled substance.

The Cross County Sheriff’s Department booked him into jail on April 1 for improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing and exceeding the speed limit and trafficking a controlled substance.

Injuries had limited the 6ft 8in Grizzlies forward to only two games this season in a frustrating year, with Memphis recently ruling him out for the rest of this season.

Clarke was in his seventh season out of Gonzaga. He missed 73 games after originally sitting out 26 matches while recovering from surgery on his right knee and the last 46 with a right calf strain.

Earlier this week Clarke’s body was cleared for release to his family following his sudden death.

But what killed him remains unclear after the cause of death was ‘deferred’ by the Los Angeles medical examiner.

According to TMZ, more testing will follow as the authorities probe his death.

Dramatic Midair Collision at Idaho Air Show: Navy Pilots Safely Eject from Jets

0

On Sunday, during the second day of the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Idaho’s Mountain Home Air Force Base, a midair collision occurred between two U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler jets. Fortunately, all four crew members aboard were able to eject safely, as confirmed by the U.S. Navy to Fox News Digital.

Cmdr. Amelia Umayam, serving as spokesperson for Naval Air Forces of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, disclosed that these aircraft were part of the Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 129, stationed at Whidbey Island, Washington.

The collision took place around 12:10 p.m. MDT, during an aerial performance at the air show, according to Umayam. Despite the dramatic incident, all involved crew members were able to eject successfully and were subsequently assessed by medical teams on site.

Witnesses reported seeing a column of black smoke billowing near the base following the crash, which kept first responders actively engaged at the scene. The dramatic sight underscored the intensity of the situation, but quick actions ensured that no lives were lost in this mishap.

Dramatic video posted to social media appears to show two jets colliding midair before four parachutes deploy. The aircraft then fall to the ground before exploding, sending thick black smoke billowing into the air.

In a statement posted to Facebook earlier in the day, Mountain Home Gunfighters said “an aircraft incident has occurred at Mountain Home Air Force Base during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show two miles northwest of the base.”

“Emergency responders are on the scene, an investigation is underway and more details will be released as they become available,” the statement added.

David Katz, who attended the air show with his family, told Fox News Digital he witnessed what appeared to be the two aircraft colliding before one erupted into flames.

“We saw the smoke and fireball,” Katz said. “Apparently they collided there. One of the planes was impacted and started burning in the air.”

Katz said he was in a vehicle with his two sons when they saw four parachutes deploy from the aircraft – two from each plane.

He added that bystanders were trying to determine whether the pilots made it out safely as emergency crews rushed toward the crash site.

“Fire crews are flying by us right now,” Katz told Fox News Digital.

KTVB reported that witnesses described seeing two jets crash during the show and shared videos showing a large plume of black smoke rising near the base. The station also reported that law enforcement and emergency crews responded to the scene while officials worked to gather more information.

The EA-18G Growler is an electronic warfare aircraft in the F/A-18 Super Hornet family designed to conduct airborne electronic attack missions for the Navy.

Dramatic Air Show Incident: Two Navy Jets Crash at Idaho Base, All Crew Members Eject Safely

0

In a dramatic incident at an Idaho air show, four crew members successfully ejected from their aircraft after two Navy jets collided on Sunday, according to event organizers.

The collision occurred during the Mountain Home Air Force Base show in western Idaho, prompting an immediate response from emergency teams.

Kim Sykes, the marketing director for Silver Wings of Idaho, which co-organized the event, confirmed that all crew members escaped unharmed. She noted that although she did not witness the crash itself, she observed smoke billowing afterward. The accident happened off the base grounds.

Following the mid-air collision at the Gunfighter Skies Air Show, the base initiated a lockdown, as stated in a social media update. Responders were present at the scene, and an investigation into the incident was launched.

Witnesses recounted seeing the two jets collide and descend, and videos circulating online captured the moment when four parachutes deployed as the aircraft descended near the base, located approximately 50 miles south of Boise.

No other information was immediately available, said a person who answered the phone at the 366th Fighter Wing public affairs office.

Organizers said the popular air show that includes flying demonstrations and parachute jumps is a celebration of aviation history and a look at modern military capabilities. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headlined the show both days.

The National Weather Service reported good visibility and winds gusting up to 29 mph (47 kph) around the time of the crash.
