Beatrice Navigates Life Alone While Parents Live in Exile

0

Once a vibrant presence in London’s elite circles, Princess Beatrice often graced private members’ clubs, fashion shows, and charity balls, always surrounded by her closest friends and family. However, the landscape of her social life has shifted significantly in recent times.

The House of York has endured a tarnishing of its reputation, especially after the involvement of Beatrice’s parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, with the infamous financier Jeffrey Epstein came to light. In light of these controversies, it’s understandable that Beatrice has chosen to step back from the public eye.

Her personal relationships have also seen changes. Her husband, Edo Mapelli Mozzi, spends considerable time in the United States due to work commitments. Meanwhile, her father, Andrew, remains isolated from public life, and her mother, Sarah, seeks comfort abroad. Her sister, Eugenie, is preoccupied with preparing for the arrival of her third child.

Edo, a property developer, was spotted recently in Palm Beach, Florida, attending a breakfast meeting focused on design in hospitality spaces. His frequent trips to the U.S. have raised questions, as he also visited just weeks before his father-in-law’s arrest. The duration of his current trip remains unknown.

Amidst swirling rumors of marital strife, Beatrice and Edo were seen together for the first time in weeks at Poppy Delevingne’s 40th birthday celebration on May 7. Their appearance aimed to project a united front, dispelling speculation about the impact of the Epstein scandal on their relationship.

As they arrived at Hart Pub in London, Beatrice, dressed in a suede trench coat, strode ahead of Edo, wearing a neutral facial expression.

Her plain demeanour was in stark contrast to her sister, Princess Eugenie, who held a beaming smile as she proudly showed off her visible pregnancy bump while holding hands with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

Sporting a shiny, bright blue coat over her outfit – which also featured a black satin shirt with white polka dots – Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter looked to be in good spirits.

Beatrice and Poppy share a close friendship that spans several years and are frequently photographed at celebratory occasions together – perhaps helping to explain for the model’s apparent olive branch offering to the estranged princess.

However, there have been rumblings of a distance surfacing with her other celebrity friendships.

She was once a fixture on the London scene, enjoying nights out at private members' clubs, attending fashion shows, charity balls and other high-profile events with her nearest and dearest - but much of that has changed for Princess Beatrice (pictured on May 7)

Last week, at her friend Olivia Buckingham’s baby shower, also attended by Poppy Delevingne and Nicky Hilton, Beatrice was nowhere to be seen in the carousel of images shared to Instagram – though Hello reported that the princess was present.

Beatrice’s new way of living was summed up last week when she was spotted loading her designer luggage into the back of a cab, without the help of friends or family, her destination unknown.

I know how the Queen REALLY felt about Meghan

Hi! I’m Richard Eden, Diary Editor and author of the Palace Confidential newsletter.

I have spent hours looking into what Meghan Markle’s relationship with the Queen was really like. And while I can tell you Meghan was welcomed with open arms, my sources have told me the Queen was very quickly concerned. Sign up here to read what I discovered

The princess, dressed in a floral dress and black blazer, carried her personalised £2,710 Horizon 55 Monogram Louis Vuitton suitcase to a waiting taxi.

And when Eugenie and her husband Jack celebrated his 40th birthday days later, Beatrice attended the lunch at Soho Mews House without her other half.

Celebrations, meanwhile, continued for the birthday boy and his wife with dinner at the exclusive Notting Hill restaurant Dorian later that evening.

It comes after Sarah Ferguson broke cover in Austria last month. The disgraced former royal, 66, is urgently seeking refuge with friends after her luxury £2,000-a-night apartment at the Mayerlife wellness spa in Altaussee, near Salzburg, Austria, was compromised when photos of her nearby were published last month.

According to sources, Ferguson barely left her first-floor two-bedroom chalet overlooking the stunningly beautiful lake since checking in nearly a month ago, and was never seen on the large balcony.

She ordered all her meals via room service – bresaola beef with mozzarella was a favourite, as was chicken breast.

She was never seen on the resort’s walking trails, or down by the lake, or at its clay tennis courts. Her contact with the outside world was kept to a bare minimum, though she had her hair done on March 24 by a visiting stylist.

Sources close to Fergie say that she remains in constant touch with her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, on the phone, while both of them have been increasingly concerned over her mental health.

Despite the mounting pressure on her, friends describe a woman who is tired but not broken. ‘She just wants a door that doesn’t open for strangers,’ a source said. ‘That’s all it is. She wants to breathe.’

The King’s household has made plain for some time that the duchess is no longer part of official royal life. She is not invited to Sandringham or Balmoral and will never appear on the Palace balcony again.

Charles is said to be still fond of his nieces despite the astonishing downfall of their father in recent years, and will permit them to attend royal events in future.

It is believed that neither Beatrice nor Eugenie have visited Andrew, 66, during his exile in Sandringham.

Connecticut Gun Rights Advocates Warn of Expanding Glock-Style Ban Amidst Democratic Push for Stricter Gun Control

0

In Connecticut, supporters of the Second Amendment are raising concerns about a proposed legislative measure they believe could restrict self-defense capabilities. They also fear that Democrats might pursue broader gun restrictions in the future.

Democrats in Connecticut have introduced a bill that aims to prohibit most Glock-style pistols capable of being modified into machine guns. The focus is on semiautomatic pistols equipped with a cruciform trigger bar, which can be easily altered with basic tools to incorporate a converter device, allowing the firearm to fire automatically.

Holly Sullivan, President of the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, expressed to Fox News Digital her disapproval, stating that Democrats in the state have opted to target law-abiding gun owners rather than addressing criminal activities through this legislation.

“They are not addressing the problem of criminals who violate laws,” Sullivan commented. “Instead, they are focusing on law-abiding Americans who own widely-used handguns. Rather than tackling the criminal aspect, they are choosing to eliminate one of the nation’s most favored handguns.”

“Connecticut likes to tout that we have some of the strongest gun laws in America, yet they don’t seem to know how to deal with criminals that are actually in violation of those laws,” she said.

Sullivan said she’s concerned Democrats won’t stop with banning most Glock-style pistols, and will go even further.

“For anybody who doesn’t live in a deep blue state like this, I hope the message is resonated that they’re never satisfied, whether they come for the rifles or they come for the Glocks, what is after that, we don’t know.” Sullivan said. “They don’t want their constituents to have firearms and they don’t how to deal with the criminals that are misusing them.“

The bill was raised by Democrats Wednesday morning within the 3 a.m. hour, and passed shortly after, according to News 8. Democrat Cathy Osten was the only member of her party who joined Republicans in their attempt to block the bill.

NRA-ILA Executive Director John Commerford told Fox News Digital that the bill creates “barriers to their right to self-defense.”

“And all it does is reduces the options that law-abiding gun owners have to protect themselves and their families. As we know, when seconds count, the police are minutes away. So taking away self-defense options for law-abiding residents of Connecticut is never the answer. The answer is holding criminals accountable for their actions, prosecuting them, and making sure they stay behind bars when they have been convicted,” Commerford said.

Proponents of the bill claim its aim is to close loopholes that allow Glock-style pistols to be converted into machine guns.

“The legislation is keeping up with the technology and as the technology evolves, this law is going to cover that for closing a lot of loopholes, for ghost guns, as well as keeping machine guns off our streets,” Earl Bloodworth with Connecticut Against Gun Violence told WFSB. “Every time a ‘switch’ turns a handgun into a machine gun, the heartbeat of a community quickens with fear. For too long, we have watched technology outpace our laws while families pay the price in grief and trauma that never truly heals.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Chris Stone, director of State and Local Affairs for Gun Owners of America, said the bill “does nothing to stop criminals, who already illegally possess machine guns and conversion devices in violation of federal law.”

“Instead, it punishes law-abiding manufacturers, retailers, and Connecticut gun owners by targeting firearms in common use for self-defense, precisely the type of arms protected by the Second Amendment,” he said.

The bill is now headed to Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont’s desk and will go into law if he signs it.

Fox News Digital reached out to Lamont’s office and Glock for comment.

Prince William Joins Aston Villa’s Triumph: A Royal Celebration of Victory

On May 9, 2026, Prince William joined the jubilant celebrations in the Aston Villa locker room following the soccer team’s landmark triumph on Thursday, May 7.

The Prince of Wales traveled to Villa Park in Birmingham, England, to watch his beloved club face Nottingham Forest in the Europa League semi-final. Before the game began, he was spotted conversing with Aston Villa manager Unai Emery and England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel. Aston Villa emerged victorious with a 4-0 win, securing their place in a European final for the first time in 44 years. Prince William couldn’t contain his excitement, cheering and singing from the stands before heading to the changing room to congratulate the players.

After the match, Emery shared with reporters, “We spoke to Prince William. Yes, indeed. He joined us in the dressing room with the players and myself. Naturally, he was immensely happy.”

The aggregate score concluded at 4-1, advancing Aston Villa to face the German team Freiburg in the Europa League final, which is scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 20.

The final scored was 4-1 on aggregate with Aston Villa going on to challenge German side Freiburg in the Europa League final which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey on May 20.

Prince William often takes his 12-year-old son Prince George so Aston Villa games with him and he treated the youngster to a trip to Paris, France last year when the side played Paris St-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final.

Aston Villa lost the game and missed out on a place in the semi-finals, but William was glad George got to see the team in action in Europe.

When TNT Sports pundits Rio Ferdinand asked William if he was on a “lad’s tour” before the PSG game, the 42-year-old heir to the throne, William replied: “Well, I’ve got my son here as well, so I’m on best behaviour.

“But I thought, you know what, it’s been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition.

“I hope it’s not 43 years until the next one happens, but I think those memories are really important to create and bringing him along tonight is a big deal for me.”

Aston Villa last reached a European final back in 1982 when they defeated Germany’s Bayern Munich to win the European Cup.

Joel Embiid Criticizes Referee Decisions as 76ers Struggle in Game 3: Claims Bias Favors New York

0

Joel Embiid has expressed his suspicion over the officiating in the Philadelphia 76ers’ recent playoff defeat.

Following a 108-94 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 3 of the second-round series, the star center remarked, “I guess it’s good when New York wins,” after observing that the Knicks were awarded double the number of free throw attempts compared to the 76ers.

The game, noted for its physicality, saw the Knicks achieve a season-high with 32 free throw attempts, while Philadelphia recorded a season-low with just 16 attempts.

Embiid commented on the disparity, saying, “Maybe some potential fouls were overlooked. They had 32 free throws, and we only got 16. We’re not a team that relies heavily on three-pointers. We attack, we drive. I don’t know what happened.”

He continued, “I guess it’s beneficial when New York comes out on top, so we need to focus on playing smarter, avoiding fouls, and not letting them capitalize on those opportunities.”

The 76ers find themselves in a 3-0 hole and Embiid’s frustrations seemingly are boiling over after Philadelphia missed a chance to make this a series Friday night.

Philadelphia attempted more free throws in the first two games — 62 to 42, including a 34-17 edge in Game 1 — but did not receive the same advantage in what could have been billed a must-win.

The Knicks’ high free throw attempt total was boosted by Mitchell Robinson’s eight attempts with the 76ers employing the Hack-a-Mitch strategy, but even if one were to exclude those from the Knicks’ total, they still would have finished with 50 percent more tries than Philadelphia.

Jalen Brunson, who has attempted at least eight free throws in all three games and 25 total, had more than half of Philadelphia’s total with his nine attempts.

Emibiid, who had attempted at least seven free throws in each of his five postseason games entering Friday, only had four tries in his 18-point, six-rebound performance.

Both Embiid and Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns — who played just 26 minutes due to five fouls — showed frustration with the whistle during the game.

Early in the first quarter, both Embiid and Towns fell to the ground while fighting for a rebound and Embiid could not believe the referees did not call a foul on the Knicks’ big man.

He then fouled Towns on the other end and demonstratively yelled at the referees.

Embiid was also surprised after being called for a moving screen in the second quarter while Landry Shamet ran through him with the Knicks ahead by 11.

One particular play that enraged the 76ers — and particularly their fans — came late in the third quarter a critical juncture.

After Philadelphia sliced the deficit to 80-76 with less than 50 seconds remaining, the referees called Quentin Grimes for a questionable foul on Brunson, who embellished the contact.

Brunson hit two free throws to push the lead to six, the 76ers missed two 3s on the other end and Landry Shamet then drilled a 3 to give the Knicks an 85-76 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The cruel reality for the 76ers is that even if one subtracts the extra free throw makes (10) from the final score, the 76ers still would have fell short Friday.

And now they are one loss away from being eliminated by the Knicks for the second time in three years.

“Tough loss tonight,” Embiid said. “Got to take it one game at a time.”

Master the Art of Fact-Checking: Your Guide to Navigating Health Advice on Social Media

In today’s digital age, social media is flooded with health and wellness advice ranging from the popular and informative to the misleading and questionable. If you’ve come across this barrage of content, you’re certainly not alone.

According to a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, around 40% of U.S. adults, and approximately half of those under age 50, are turning to social media platforms and podcasts for health-related information.

In an analysis of social media profiles of 6,828 health and wellness influencers boasting at least 100,000 followers, researchers found that only about 40% have a professional background in health. The remaining influencers often identify themselves in various roles—about a third label themselves as coaches, nearly 30% describe themselves as entrepreneurs, and roughly 10% rely on personal experiences, such as parenting, to establish their credibility.

Despite the diversity in expertise among these influencers, around half of the individuals who seek health advice from them report a better understanding of their personal health. However, about a third of these followers feel that the information hasn’t significantly impacted their health awareness, and around 10% express increased confusion.

Experts emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy dose of skepticism when engaging with online health content, whether it pertains to fitness, mental health, or personal wellbeing. Here are some expert-recommended strategies to help you navigate and evaluate this information more effectively, ensuring you become a more discerning consumer of digital health advice.

How to vet a health influencer’s credentials

Experts said the biggest green flag is when an influencer’s credentials are easy to find on their profile. Beware the fill-in-the-blank “coach” who can’t prove their training.

Courtney Babilya, a certified medical exercise specialist and personal trainer who has more than 430,000 followers on Instagram, has seen this with maternity content: “Someone has a baby and suddenly they’re a pregnancy coach.”

“We have to be careful with people who have an experience in one thing and suddenly become a ‘coach’ on that,” she said.

Coach is a business model, not a sign of training. Babilya shares her own experience dealing with chronic illness online, but keeps it separate from her professional advice.

“You do have an obligation to make sure that you are not giving someone a false idea or spreading a message that isn’t going to be applicable to everyone,” she said.

Don’t fall for viral shock factor

If it brings up big emotions, pause. For people who can’t access care or feel unheard by their doctors, an offbeat opinion could feel like a long-sought answer. The Pew survey found 53% of uninsured people got health information from social media, compared to 38% of those who were insured.

But people who are trying to share good medical information online are not trying to incite fear or surprise, said Dr. Fatima Daoud Yilmaz, an OB-GYN at Stony Brook Medicine in New York, whose popular “Feminine Aisle” video series rates drug store products.

Even if the person has expertise, ask yourself: Are they speaking outside the scope of their knowledge? Is what they’re saying in line with scientific consensus?

“All opinions are not created equal when it comes to something such as health or medicine or science,” said Daoud.

Look out for exaggerated or definitive claims, especially in the first few seconds of the video when influencers are trying hard to grab your attention, added Babilya.

Ambivalent wording is a good sign, said Nedra Glover Tawwab, a practicing therapist and author. In her videos on boundaries and mental health, she couches with “maybe,” “sometimes,” “perhaps,” rather than diagnosing her 1.8 million followers on Instagram.

If you feel like you’ve found a diagnosis online, that is your sign to seek out a professional, Tawwab said.

Follow the influencer money

People on social media are making money — for some, it is their livelihood.

“It doesn’t mean that all of the information that they put out is biased, but it should tell consumers of that information to take it with a grain of salt because they do have financial incentive to be pushing information like this,” Daoud said.

Babilya’s platform is now a full-time job, and the way she helps support her family. Taking partnerships and brand deals was not an easy decision, but one that makes her work sustainable.

Babilya said she prioritizes being upfront with her audience and making sure her ads are transparently labeled.

Stop being a passive scroller

Experts also recommend pausing to check the video’s sources. Look for gold standard science. Some posts are not well fact-checked, Babilya warned, citing studies that have nothing to do with what the influencer says it does.

Use the same standard as when you’re vetting a purchase online. Look at the larger conversation around the advice as you would reading product reviews, Tawwab said.

Two-thirds of users said they just happen to come across the content rather than seeking it out, according to the Pew survey.

If you want to control your feed, it will take time and ongoing effort, said Ash Milton of the University of Minnesota, who studies how users navigate online mental health information.

“You have to work for it because the algorithm is designed to be passive consumption,” Milton said.

You can use “Hidden Words” on Instagram or “Not Interested” on TikTok to filter out certain content, though Milton notes TikTok might not know exactly what in the video you’re not interested in. Use your own reaction as a barometer to limit content by asking yourself: Is the health information actually applicable and helpful to your life, or just relatable?

Find a doctor you trust

Confirm with a trusted health professional before acting on anything you see online.

Influencers can say anything while medical professionals are ethically and legally liable for your care, and “may face professional and personal consequences for the advice that they give you,” Daoud said.

“Ultimately, talk to the medical provider who knows you,” she said.

Manhunt Underway: Suspect Fires Shots Following High-Speed Car Chase in Sydney’s West

0

Overnight, a suburban area in Sydney’s west was placed under lockdown as authorities launched a manhunt for a suspected gunman. The operation extended for several hours as police scoured the vicinity, intensifying their search efforts.

This dramatic pursuit was triggered by what began as a routine traffic stop. Despite the extensive search, the individual managed to evade capture and remains at large as of this afternoon.

The suspect, described as wearing high-visibility clothing, was last observed in the Guildford area. This sighting has directed police efforts as they continue their investigation.

The suburb was thrown into lockdown as police searched for the man. (Nine)

Chief Inspector Rick Agius explained the incident’s origin: “A vehicle displaying irregular number plates breached traffic rules by executing a right-hand turn against posted signs.”

The vehicle, identified as a utility truck, was initially spotted in South Wentworthville. It subsequently led police on a gripping nine-kilometre chase, culminating in the vehicle being cornered by law enforcement.

But the driver made a run for it, firing five shots into the air.

“The male in my opinion is totally irresponsible and stupid in his actions by discharging a firearm in a public place,” Agius said.

Revealed: Private Emails Expose Real Estate Power Couple Accused of Sexual Assault

0

In a troubling development, more women have stepped forward with allegations against a pair of luxury real estate agents, accusing them of drugging and sexually assaulting victims during extravagant, champagne-laden work events.

According to exclusive information obtained by the Daily Mail, four additional women have initiated legal proceedings over the past month against realtors David Golden and Michael Bjorkman. This brings the total number of women pursuing civil litigation for alleged sexual assault by the duo to nine.

At the time of these alleged incidents, Golden and Bjorkman were affiliated with eXp Realty, a rapidly expanding cloud-based real estate brokerage often likened to Amazon for its dynamic growth and notorious for its lavish parties and a culture that encouraged both hard work and hard play.

The latest allegations echo the harrowing accounts of Fabiola Acevedo, Anya Roberts, and Christy Lundy, who filed lawsuits in 2023. These women reported losing consciousness during social gatherings with the realtors and regaining awareness during or following the alleged assaults.

One of the recent claimants was reportedly just weeks away from her wedding when she experienced a blackout at a work dinner attended by Bjorkman, who is also married, along with other employees of eXp Realty.

She said her last memory was going to a strip club and sitting on Bjorkman’s lap before waking up in his bed the next morning, where he allegedly told her he had filmed her performing a sex act, according to the deposition.

Also included in the filings are texts Golden and Bjorkman allegedly sent each other bragging about ‘banging’ women and an email from a female staff member to Golden  apparently joking about sexually transmitted diseases.

The scandal has been likened to that of the Alexander brothers, two of whom were high-powered realtors, who were convicted of sex trafficking charges after a wave of civil lawsuits from female victims.

Both Golden and Bjorkman have denied all previous allegations of sexual impropriety and they did not respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment about the new claims.

The legal filings also accuse eXp management of fostering a ‘boys’ club’ party culture while ignoring complaints from female staff.

Critics say the firm’s structure – where agents receive a cut of the commissions earned by the people they recruit – creates powerful incentives to protect top performers, with little appetite to investigate high earners even when serious allegations are raised.

Many of the women say in their depositions they took their complaints to senior management, or even raised concerns directly with eXp CEO Glenn Sanford, but claim their reports went nowhere.

Neither Sanford nor eXp responded to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.

Newly released internal emails show staff raised concerns about Golden and Bjorkman’s behavior as early as 2018, including allegations that Bjorkman drugged and assaulted women. Despite the warnings, the pair remained at the company until 2023.

One of the four new unnamed women to come forward is a former eXp agent from Colorado, who alleged in her deposition that she attended a group dinner for an eXp work event with Bjorkman and three other female real estate agents who worked at the company.

‘We had drinks at dinner,’ she said in the lawsuit , adding that she was told the next day she immediately started acting erratic.

Michael Bjorkman and David Golden

‘I remember getting to the strip club. [But after that,] it’s a blackout,’ she said. She claimed she had a memory flash of sitting on Bjorkman’s lap at the strip club.

The next morning, her friends told her she was ‘acting like a stripper on Mike Bjorkman, in front of all my colleagues, in front of people I’ve just met, in front of my bosses,’ she said in her deposition.

‘I have no recollection of coming to the hotel,’ she added of where she awoke the next day. ‘That is all lost memory.’

The woman, who had just met Bjorkman that night, alleged she woke up in Bjorkman’s bed the morning after, ‘shocked’ because she was getting married two weeks later.

‘And he was married, so it was shocking for sure,’ she continued in her deposition testimony.

She said in the deposition that she had to be quiet while Bjorkman answered a call from his wife, claiming he told her: ‘Hey, hush hush.’

When he hung up, he allegedly called her a ‘party girl’ who had been ‘acting wild’ the previous night, according to her deposition testimony.

She claimed he said ‘that I took his phone, put porn on it, and started masturbating while he filmed it. I immediately didn’t believe him because I would not do that.

‘He said he had video – that meant blackmail.’ The location and date of the alleged attack has been redacted from the lawsuit to protect the accuser’s identity.

Another woman alleged in her deposition that at an eXp event in California in 2019, she had a single glass of white wine, then began stumbling.

She alleged Bjorkman said ‘you’ve been drugged’ and warned her to ‘stay next’ to him.

‘As soon as I stumbled, Mike Bjorkman was there – almost like he caught me – and said, ‘You’ve been drugged,” she said in the deposition.

‘Mike Bjorkman was being Mike Bjorkman,’ the woman continued. ‘He would always buy drinks. He’s like a cool frat guy.’

She said in her deposition she is unsure what happened with Bjorkman while blacked out and claimed that she woke up in the morning in his hotel room ‘confused and disheveled.’

A third former employee alleges in a deposition that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Bjorkman in 2007 in California.

She accused Bjorkman of drugging and raping her in a hotel room after he drove her to a class for her real estate license, then suggested they study afterwards at a nearby hotel, according to the court documents.

‘We went to the Marriott Hotel in Santa Monica,’ she said. ‘We had our books, and I can remember him paying cash for a hotel room, and I thought that was weird.’

The woman claims in her deposition Bjorkman purchased a room with a balcony, then made them both a drink.

‘[I] didn’t see any harm in having a few drinks while we’re studying for this eight-hour test,’ she said in the deposition.

‘This was sometime around lunchtime. It was still daylight out. And really the next memory I have was waking up with Mike Bjorkman on top of me, having sex with me on the bed,’ she said in her deposition.

‘And then I don’t remember much except that all of a sudden I was facedown with somebody having anal sex with me.’

The woman said in her deposition that she nearly threw up in Bjorkman’s truck when he drove her back to her car.

A fourth accuser alleges in a deposition that she woke up in Golden’s hotel room in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in 2019 with another woman on top of her, nude and touching her after she blacked out after one drink the night before.

A text in February 2020 from Bjorkman to Golden appears to reference the encounter. It read: ‘The one you banged in Mexico?’

A female eXp employee who was once close with Golden has also testified against him after becoming increasingly concerned by the allegations.

Playful exchanges between the staffer and Golden are included in the new court filings. In one email, Golden wrote to her: ‘Love you. Sorry that I am a bad influence. I’m just being me.’

She later sent him a joking letter asking whether he was ‘as bad as the Coronavirus,’ saying he left ‘young girls sick’ and asking: ‘How long can this go on?’

But the woman has since turned against her former friend and testified for the plaintiffs.

In a witness deposition, she said multiple women told her about Golden and Bjorkman’s alleged abuse, including claims she witnessed Golden ordering the date rape drug Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) – or ‘roofies’ – to his hotel room at work events.

She also said the growing allegations made her reassess her own relationship with the pair, describing some of their behavior as ‘strange’ – including the fact they often shared hotel rooms and invited her to stay with them.

The women accused Bjorkman and Golden of slipping the drugs, which in high quantities is known to cause memory loss, into their drinks.

Golden claimed in his own deposition that he regularly ordered bottles of GHB and took it once or twice a week going back to 2014.

Bjorkman did not admit to taking the drug, but says he was slipped it twice in his life.

The 2023 lawsuits filed by Acevedo, Roberts and Lundy make similar allegations.

Acevedo, a Florida-based real estate agent recruited by Golden, claimed in a February 2023 suit that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Bjorkman.

She alleged that in 2018, Bjorkman convinced her to join him at a networking event at the Pelican Hill Hotel in Newport Beach, California, telling her it would help her career.

When she arrived at the event, a hotel staffer told her she did not have a room reserved in her name and that they were sold out, the suit claimed.

Tami Sims and Christiana ‘Christy’ Lundy, real estate agents in Tennessee and California, both later joined Acevedo’s lawsuit, alleging they were also drugged and sexually assaulted by Bjorkman and Golden.

Lundy alleged in her filing that after an eXp event in 2020 in Las Vegas, Bjorkman and Golden invited her for a drink in their suite, where she alleges she drank one cup of vodka and soda water.

Roberts claimed that in February 2020, she flew to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to attend an eXp networking event and blacked out after one drink in Golden’s room.

She alleged she woke to Golden standing over her, massaging his penis over his pants, according to her complaint.

Report Reveals Decline in K-12 Public School Enrollment Across Over Half of U.S. States

0

In a related demographic shift, an analysis by The New York Times reveals that public school enrollment from kindergarten through 12th grade has decreased across 30 states since the mid-2010s. This decline points to changing population dynamics affecting the education system.

Data sourced from the “National Center for Education Statistics” indicates that between 2014 and 2024, West Virginia experienced the largest drop in student enrollment at 13.6%. Mississippi followed closely with a 12% decrease, and New Hampshire was next with an 11.1% decline.

Conversely, Washington, D.C., which is not classified as a state, recorded the most significant increase in student numbers, with a rise of 16.4%. North Dakota and Idaho also saw substantial growth, with increases of 12.4% and 8.5%, respectively.

While multiple factors impact enrollment, according to the Times, the outlet claimed that experts indicate the largest factor in falling enrollment is the nation’s record-low fertility rate.

Enrollment has fallen 9% since 2014 in Portland, Oregon, according to the Times.

“People are choosing to raise kids somewhere other than in the city — moving to suburbs or places where they have access to affordable housing,” Portland Public Schools Superintendent Kimberlee Armstrong said, according to the Times.

“So it’s not just about losing students, it’s about the city of Portland losing families,” she noted, according to the outlet.

WHO to Supervise Evacuation of Cruise Ship Amid Fatal Hantavirus Outbreak

0

Tragically, at least three passengers have lost their lives, and five individuals who disembarked have been confirmed to have hantavirus infections.

CANARY ISLANDS, Spain — In response to a hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship bound for the Canary Islands, the head of the World Health Organization arrived in Spain on Saturday to manage the evacuation of over 140 passengers and crew members.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced his arrival on the Spanish island of Tenerife, located off the West African coast. Accompanied by senior Spanish officials, he is there to ensure the safe disembarkation of passengers, crew, and health experts.

The cruise ship, MV Hondius, sailing under the Dutch flag, is anticipated to dock in Tenerife early on Sunday. Tedros assured that, currently, none of the individuals aboard the Hondius are exhibiting symptoms of the virus.

On the social media platform X, Tedros stated, “WHO continues to actively monitor the situation, coordinate support and next steps, and will keep Member States and the public updated accordingly. So far, the risk for the population of the Canary Islands and globally remains low.”

Spain’s Health Minister Monica Garcia said on Friday she would be heading to Tenerife with Tedros and Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska to coordinate the disembarkation.

Passengers will be isolated

Three people have died since the outbreak, and five passengers who left the ship are infected with hantavirus. Both the U.S. and the U.K. have agreed to send planes to evacuate their citizens from the cruise ship.

The head of Spain’s emergency services, Virginia Barcones, has said passengers will be taken to a “completely isolated, cordoned-off area” once they disembark.

Hantavirus is usually spread by the inhalation of contaminated rodent droppings and isn’t easily transmitted between people. But the Andes virus detected in the cruise ship outbreak may be able to spread between people in rare cases. Symptoms usually show between one and eight weeks after exposure.

According to a letter sent by the Dutch foreign and health ministers to parliament late Friday, Spain has activated the EU civil protection mechanism for a medical evacuation plane equipped for high-consequence infectious disease to be on standby.

In case anyone falls ill, the medics on board the ship will inform the Spanish authorities, and the evacuation plane ″will be sent to Tenerife so that the sick person can be quickly transported by air to the European mainland.″

The Dutch government will work with Spanish authorities and the ship company to arrange repatriation of Dutch passengers and crew as soon as possible after arrival in Tenerife, subject to medical conditions and advice from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the letter said. Those without symptoms will go into home quarantine for six weeks and be monitored by local health services.

As the ship is Dutch-flagged, the Netherlands may also temporarily accommodate people of other nationalities and monitor them in quarantine.

Countries scramble to track passengers who disembarked

Health authorities across four continents were tracking down and monitoring more than two dozen passengers who disembarked before the deadly outbreak was detected. They were also scrambling to trace others who may have come into contact with them.

On Friday, the WHO said a flight attendant on a plane briefly boarded by an infected cruise passenger had tested negative for hantavirus. Her possible infection had raised concerns about the virus’ potential transmissibility.

The flight attendant’s negative result should ease concerns among the public, said Christian Lindmeier, a WHO spokesman. “The risk remains absolutely low,” he said. “This is not a new COVID.”

On April 24, nearly two weeks after the first passenger had died on board, more than two dozen people from at least 12 different countries left the ship without contact tracing, Dutch officials and the ship’s operator have said.

It wasn’t until May 2 that health authorities first confirmed hantavirus in a ship passenger, the WHO said.

The KLM flight attendant who tested negative for the virus was working on a plane headed from Johannesburg to Amsterdam on April 25, and had later fallen ill.

The cruise passenger briefly aboard that flight — a Dutch woman whose husband died on the ship — was too ill to stay on the international flight to Europe and was taken off in Johannesburg, where she died.

The Dutch public health service is undertaking contact tracing on passengers who had contact with the ill woman before she left the plane.

A Briton, Spaniard suspected of being infected

On Friday, U.K. health authorities said a third British national who had been a passenger on the ship is suspected of being infected with hantavirus. The U.K. Health Security Agency said the person is on the island of Tristan da Cunha, a remote British overseas territory in the South Atlantic where the ship stopped in April. There was no word on the person’s condition.

Spanish health officials said Friday a woman in the southeastern Spanish province of Alicante has symptoms consistent with a hantavirus infection and is being tested.

She was a passenger on the same flight as the Dutch woman who died in Johannesburg after traveling on the cruise ship, Secretary of State for Health Javier Padilla told reporters.

Two other Britons who were on the ship have been confirmed to have the virus. One is hospitalized in the Netherlands and the other in South Africa.

Authorities in South Africa are working to trace contacts of any passengers who previously got off the ship. They have focused mainly on an April 25 flight from the remote island of St. Helena in the South Atlantic to Johannesburg, the day after some passengers disembarked on the island.

Some state officials across the U.S. said they were monitoring a small number of residents who were on the ship and already went home, as well as people who may have come into contact with ship passengers. None has symptoms.

Rihanna Teases 2026 Plans: Could Baby Number Four Be on the Horizon?

Rihanna seems to be dropping hints about her readiness to expand her family to four children.

On Sunday, Montana Brown, known for her time on Love Island, took to Instagram to share her New Year’s musings. The 30-year-old reality star posted a video expressing her dilemma for the coming years.

“To get hot and sexy or get pregnant in 2026,” she pondered humorously in a video, as she appeared to weigh her options. Montana is already a mother of two with her fiancé, Mark O’Connor.

Rihanna, who is 37, chimed in on the post, writing in the comments, “Wait! So I’m not crazy then? Bet!”

The renowned singer and her partner, A$AP Rocky, also 37, welcomed their third child, a daughter named Rocki, on September 13. The couple already has two sons: RZA, born in 2022, and Riot, who joined the family in 2023.

Fans of Rihanna’s quickly responded to her by begging the Umbrella hitmaker, who released her last studio album Anti back in 2016, to ‘pop out new music’ instead.

‘@badgalriri not me subtly hoping your only big 2026 decision would be which state you’re going to start the tour. You keep growing your team queen, we can wait

It comes after Rihanna recently got emotional while speaking about motherhood, gushing over her growing children during an interview with Extra.

She told Extra: ‘The babies are amazing. They’re all getting bigger, and I cannot take it. My sons – oh, my God! – their faces are changing. Their necks are getting longer. I love it.’

And Rocky said their children are as ‘cute as ever’, while RZA and Riot are ‘getting along’ better than he expected.

The rapper said: ‘I’m surprised that the older two getting along as much as they are, you know? Usually, you know, for them to be so close in age, they fight a lot, but… happy family.’

While he admitted their older sons occasionally get ‘a little jealous’ of their newborn sister, he made it clear there’s nothing but love in the household.

In 2023, Rihanna told Vogue her longtime partner, Rocky, is her ‘best friend’ and described motherhood as ‘everything’.

Rihanna said her first few months as a mother were a rollercoaster and described giving birth as a ‘head-f**k’, saying she couldn’t believe she entered the hospital pregnant and left with a baby.

The singer admitted that having a child has also made her re-evaluate as she described raising her son as one of the ‘scariest’ responsibilities ever in her life.

She said: ‘Raising a young Black man is one of the scariest responsibilities in life […] ‘You’re like, “What am I leaving my kids to? This is the planet they’re gonna be living on?”‘

Despite the challenges of motherhood, Rihanna insisted it has only brought her and her partner Rocky closer as she said they are ‘best friends with a baby’.

‘Everything changes when you have a baby but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer,’ she added.

She also gushed over Rocky’s relationship with their son, saying their baby boy needs validation from his father as she described their close bond.

Just nine months after giving birth to her first child, Rihanna revealed her second pregnancy by debuting her baby bump during her much-anticipated halftime Super Bowl in 2023.

In 2024, she spoke to Interview magazine about how ‘COVID sped up’ her relationship with Rocky.

‘Had it not been for COVID, we would’ve taken a lot more time to get comfortable with each other, to even know that we were ready,’ she explained.

Rihanna added that her current romance is different to anything she’s previously experienced, and she was always convinced that Rocky would become a ‘great dad’.

The award-winning star – who has previously dated Chris Brown and businessman Hassan Jameel – explained: ‘I let God lead and just let go. Because in previous relationships, I tried and tried and tried my best, and you still feel like it’s not enough.

‘So when someone sees you completely, and believes in you, and thinks you’re worthy of being the mother of their kids, it’s a great feeling. I felt the same about him.

‘I knew he would be a great dad.’

When asked if she’s amazed by what she’s achieved in her life, Rihanna shared: ‘The only thing that I knew I wanted, or that I could imagine, was motherhood. I didn’t know how it would come, but it is the best part of my journey so far. Everything else was a surprise.’

As for how many kids she wants to have, Rihanna told the magazine: ‘As many as God wants me to have.’
