Tragic Hit-and-Run Crash Claims Lives of Man and Toddler: Community in Shock

0

A tragic collision resulted in the deaths of a male passenger and a toddler, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed to the California Post.

The accident unfolded early Sunday morning when a vehicle moving south on Vista Del Mar in Playa Del Rey veered into the northbound lanes, causing a two-car crash.

Authorities are still investigating what led to the vehicle crossing lanes, and additional details have not yet been released.

The crash took place around 4:30 a.m. on the 6800 block of Vista Del Mar, close to Culver Boulevard. Officers arriving at the scene found the front-seat passenger had died from the impact.

A 28-year-old Hispanic man, along with a juvenile and a toddler, were rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the toddler succumbed to their injuries shortly after.

The extend of injuries for the survivors is not known.

Rising Stars: Glenwood Softball’s Future College Prospects Gear Up for Championship Defense

CHATHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — The Glenwood Titans are off to a remarkable beginning in their quest to defend the Class 3A state softball title, boasting an impressive 17-1 record.

A significant factor in their success is the talented roster, featuring several players who have committed to Division I colleges, including three who will continue their athletic journeys in the Big Ten Conference.

Among these players, Ryleigh Kiel has signed with Penn State, Hope Gilmore is set to join Purdue, and Ava Bobb is committed to playing for Wisconsin.

The combination of depth and exceptional talent has fostered confidence among the Titans, as they aim for another successful postseason run.

“Each player brings unique skills to the team,” Gilmore expressed. “There’s no weak link.” She added, “Even if someone gets injured, another teammate is ready to step up because we all excel. There’s complete trust among us.”

Glenwood is also focused on not taking any team they face lightly.

“We’re going to play the same every day,” Bobb said. “We’re going to give our best every day and not go down to the level of our competition, so no matter who we’re playing, we’re going to bring it from the beginning.”

My Surreal Experience: Shopping at an AI-Run Store After Riding in a Driverless Car

0

In San Francisco, a groundbreaking experiment may offer a glimpse into a future where artificial intelligence (AI) significantly influences everyday life. This intriguing scenario is unfolding as AI technology takes a prominent role in both transportation and retail experiences in the city.

On April 25, Sharilyn Neidhardt, a Picture Editor from New York City, experienced this AI-driven reality firsthand. She opted for a ride in a Waymo, the popular driverless car service in California, to visit Andon Market—a cutting-edge retail store powered by AI, located in the bustling center of San Francisco.

For the next three years, the operations of this quaint novelty shop on Union Street will be overseen by an AI known as Luna. This digital manager curates a unique assortment of gifts, ranging from candles to books about science and the internet, offering patrons a distinctive shopping experience.

Many, like Neidhardt, have been drawn to Andon Market by curiosity. She remarked, “I had heard about the shop and wanted to see it for myself.” During her visit, she noted that other customers seemed similarly intrigued, primarily by the AI aspect of the store.

This experiment hints at a future where AI could increasingly become a fixture in our daily routines, shaping how we move and shop in a rapidly evolving world.

She was greeted by the store’s only human counterpart, Felix Johnson, who was overseeing the boutique, cheerfully welcoming shoppers, and correcting any mistakes Luna made – like charging Neidhardt twice for the same $14 Dandelion Chocolate bar.

In order to purchase anything, one had to pick up a device that looked like an ‘old-fashioned Bakelite telephone’ to talk with Luna about what they wanted so she could add it to a digital shopping cart for checkout.

After making her purchase, Neidhardt left the store with her chocolate bar.

This time, however, Neidhardt opted to call a Lyft rather than a Waymo.

‘The Waymo freaked me out and was more expensive,’ she told the Daily Mail.

The Waymo cost the New Yorker $30.26 with no tip for a 1.62-mile trip, while the Lyft cost her $18.59 for a 2.9-mile journey, including a tip for the human driver.

At Andon Market, Luna does more than just take your order and check you out, she also handles inventory, Felix told Neidhardt, but it seems the AI bot has some learning to do.

‘Like one-third of the inventory seemed to be candles,’ Neidhardt told the Daily Mail.

‘Felix told me they were blending in more products with a human touch, including human-made art and fancy branded granola.’

But when Neidhardt visited, her options were endless candles, a book called What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains, and expensive pizza oil, among other items.

‘It was difficult for me to picture the ideal customer,’ Neidhardt said of the selection.

Andon Market is ultimately an experiment to see how AI would handle running a store, its creators, Lukas Petersson and Axel Backlund of Andon Labs, which is known for its AI vending machines, have said.

‘Our company is a research company that is trying to spread awareness that AIs are way more than just chatbots,’ Petersson told the Daily Mail. ‘And how big the implications for society will be, if the models continue to improve at this point.’

Luna is powered by Claude Sonnet 4.6, and she decides what products are stocked, and even decided what the logo and color of the walls would be, its creators said.

Petersson and Backlund pay $7,500 a month in rent for the space and gave Luna a $100,000 budget in a bank account.

After that, Luna built the store: Finding contractors and painters and even did the hiring for the human position. The store opened in April.

There has been some kinks in the experiment, such has Luna’s immense love for candles and that she purchased 1,000 toilet seat covers for the employee bathroom, Petersson told the Daily Mail.

When asked the inspiration behind the bizarre stock available, Petersson laughed as he told the Daily Mail: ‘You’ll have to ask Luna.’

The AI wasn’t given any instructions and was left to be completely autonomous.

Felix was hired by Luna, who also decided the marketing, the wall colors, the logo, and the items available for purchase

‘We didn’t force it to buy some specific items, we just let it do whatever it wanted, and this turned out to be the thing that it went for,’ Petersson told the Daily Mail.

Luna also botched the schedule, causing the store to be closed for three days.

And Luna isn’t the greatest entrepreneur by any stretch of the means either, as she’s currently in the red and is expected to continue to bleed money, Petersson told the Daily Mail.

However, the co-founder believes Luna will be profitable by end of the three-year lease, as AI continues to involve and improve, and therefore, Luna will too.

‘We’ll switch it out as soon as new models are released,’ Petersson said of Luna’s Claude model.

The Andon Market creators said they aren’t doing this to make it the future, but to see how it works, as they believe the AI boom will continue and the future will be shaped by it.

For Neidhardt, she doesn’t see it being implemented across retail stores nationwide, or at least not in its current state.

‘From my perspective, it seemed to barely work in San Francisco,’ she told the Daily Mail.

Andon Market is ultimately an experiment to see how AI would handle running a store, its creators, Lukas Petersson and Axel Backlund of Andon Labs, said

‘I can see it working better for a bookstore or something with a broader selection of products and a specific clientele that would seek it out. Luna seemed superfluous for a generic boutique.

‘Maybe one day this will seem as normal as ordering from Amazon does to me today. But I was pretty freaked out by the driverless car ride I took to Andon Market, and I would much rather chat with Felix than interact with Luna.

‘But I’m a person who collects vinyl records and makes oil paintings so I may be old-fashioned.’

The experiment, however, isn’t meant to convinced anyone that this is future, but to have customers pause and reflect on how much they want AI in their life.

Petersson recognizes AI is moving swiftly and humans don’t fully understand it quite yet.

‘I think there’s a strong argument to be had about having a pause for a while, while we figure out why they behave in a certain way and try to understand them, so that we can control them better.

‘I think that’s quite reasonable.’

Luna, whom Petersson described to be similar to a ‘child,’ is still learning the ways around its first big job and working out the kinks. And like all AI models, its rapidly improving and changing.

Leaked Audio Reveals UK Envoy Claims US ‘Special Relationship’ Lies with Different Ally, Not Britain

Recent comments attributed to the United Kingdom’s ambassador to the United States have ignited a political firestorm in London. Sir Christian Turner allegedly remarked that Washington’s “one true special relationship” is with Israel, not the UK, according to a leaked audio recording reported by the Financial Times.

These comments, reportedly made during a private discussion with British students earlier in 2026, have surfaced at a delicate time. The revelation coincides with King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s prominent visit to Washington and New York, aimed at mending somewhat strained diplomatic ties between the UK and the US.

Despite the controversy, Turner emphasized the enduring and deep-rooted connection between the UK and the US, particularly in defense and security matters. He reportedly stated, “There is a deep history and affinity between us. Particularly on defense and security, we are intertwined,” as cited by British media. He suggested that while the relationship remains “special,” its nature may need to evolve.

Turner reportedly stressed that Britain’s ties with the U.S. remain deeply intertwined, particularly on defense and security.

“There is a deep history and affinity between us. Particularly on defence and security, we are intertwined,” according to leaked audio cited by British media. “The relationship will carry on, if you want, being ‘special,’ but I think it’s going to have to be different.”

Turner also said, according to the transcript, that Britain and Europe must “work to redefine” their relationship with Washington, particularly in terms of defense, rather than relying on a U.S. security umbrella.

The leak comes after recent strains between Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, including disagreements over Britain’s posture toward U.S.–Israeli military action against Iran. Trump previously criticized Starmer publicly, saying he was “not Winston Churchill.”

An embassy spokesperson and a U.K. Foreign Office spokesperson sought to distance the government from the leaked remarks, telling Fox News Digital: “These were private, informal comments made to a group of U.K. sixth-form students visiting the U.S. in early February. They are certainly not any reflection of the U.K. government’s position.”

The wide-ranging informal discussion, the spokesperson explained, focused on diplomacy and the political issues of the day that students asked questions about, stressing that the remarks were clearly never intended as on-record statements of government policy.

Still, the controversy raises broader questions that extend beyond diplomatic optics: whether the symbolic “special relationship” between Washington and London has been eclipsed by more immediate U.S. strategic priorities, particularly Israel’s central role in American Middle East security calculations.

Barak Seener, senior fellow at the London-based Henry Jackson Society, said Turner’s remarks reflected a hard strategic reality rather than a diplomatic blunder.

“Ambassador Christian Turner was giving a realistic assessment that echoed President Trump’s criticism of NATO, calling it a ‘paper tiger’ for not contributing to joint U.S.-Israel-led operations against Iran,” Seener told Fox News Digital.

Seener pointed to his recent report, “Israel 2048: A Blueprint for an Asymmetric Geopolitical Power,” arguing that Israel’s expanding military capabilities increasingly function as a force multiplier for U.S. regional interests. By contrast, Seener argued, Britain’s modern strategic value has weakened despite its historic rhetoric.

“King Charles, in his recent speech to the U.S. Congress, was forced to emphasise the U.K. and U.S.’s shared culture and history rather than recent military contributions simply because the U.K.’s naval and military capabilities have been completely hollowed out,” Seener said.

He added that Charles’ invocation of past joint sacrifices “does not bear any relevance to today” given Britain’s reported refusal to allow U.S. use of Royal Air Force bases for strikes on Iran.

The White House, however, emphasized continuity over controversy, telling Fox News Digital that, “President Trump has enjoyed welcoming Their Majesties to the White House this week, including yesterday morning, when he highlighted the historic, special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom,” White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said.

“The events of this visit are unprecedented in scope and spectacle, and the President enjoyed hosting a beautiful State Dinner yesterday evening,” she added.

Trump Hints at Intriguing UFO Revelations in Latest Document Release

0

President Donald Trump has announced that the Pentagon is set to unveil some “very interesting” UFO files discovered during his administration, sparking a wave of excitement and skepticism about potential new insights into extraterrestrial life.

During a White House event honoring NASA astronauts on Wednesday, Trump remarked, “We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t,” adding, “I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people.”

Trump has often embraced his role as a president who unveils hidden information. Shortly after taking office, he authorized the release of documents related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. While these releases provided little new information, they highlighted Trump’s commitment to transparency.

In anticipation of these disclosures, Trump has emphasized the importance of openness, stating, “The American people deserve transparency and truth.”

In the buildup to that release, Trump said “the American people deserve transparency and truth”.

Now, as he turns to the sky, the president has struck a similar tone, suggesting answers to decades-old questions may be on the way.

His February directive on social media called for transparency around “alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs)”.

“The first releases will begin very, very soon,” he told supporters in April at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix.

“So you can go out and see if that phenomena is correct. You’ll figure it out.”

Expert cautions against raising expectations

Even before Trump’s directive, the Pentagon was years into a process to declassify and release government documents related to UFOs, now often referred to as unexplained anomalous phenomena, or UAP.

Citing concerns over national security, Congress created an office in 2022 to investigate UAP and declassify as much material as possible. The office’s 2024 debut report revealed hundreds of new UAP incidents but found no evidence that the US government had ever confirmed a sighting of alien technology. A second report covering more recent sightings is expected to come soon.

That agency, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, is now working with the White House to release “never-before-seen UAP information”, according to a Pentagon statement.

The office’s previous director, however, said Trump’s promises were bluster, a “shiny object” to distract Americans from the war with Iran. Sean Kirkpatrick, a physicist and former career intelligence officer who led the office until 2023, said he has seen the government’s records and believes there are no bombshell revelations to be found.

“Readers should not get their hopes up that there’s going to be some document with photos, interviewing the aliens when they came down,” he said. “Because that just doesn’t exist.”

Videos purporting to show alien technology tend to have mundane explanations, he said. Modern infrared cameras used by the US military often capture jet engines and other hot objects in a long thermal bloom, which, Kirkpatrick said, explains viral videos of speedy, pill-shaped objects.

Pentagon not forthcoming on UAP reports, GOP-led panel says

On Capitol Hill, those types of videos have caught the attention of a small group of Trump-aligned Republicans who insist the Pentagon is holding back secrets.

The Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets has been conducting its own investigation into reports of mysterious aircraft near US military installations, which the panel says pose a threat to national security and the armed forces.

Last autumn, the task force heard testimony from current and former service members who described UAP encounters. In one case, a senior Navy officer said he was off the coast of California in 2023 when he saw a glowing “Tic Tac” shaped object emerge from the ocean and link up with three similar objects. They sped away in an instant, he said.

Trump’s interest in the subject has energized congressional Republicans, including Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna, an Air Force veteran who co-chairs the task force. Luna has criticised what she calls “more than adequate” transparency from the Pentagon.

In a March letter to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Luna demanded dozens of UAP videos identified by whistleblowers and labelled with names such as “Spherical UAP in clouds”. Her deadline for Hegseth came and went, and no videos were produced.

Trump’s entry to the UFO fray drew applause from Luna, who last year told podcaster Joe Rogan that she has seen evidence of “interdimensional beings.” The Pentagon “can’t hide from our docs request anymore!” Luna said on social media after Trump’s directive.

Orca Odyssey: Follow the World’s Most Watched Marine Marvels on Their Next Adventure!

0

This article has been updated with new information.

In a quiet, closed marine park on the picturesque French Riviera, two orcas continue to swim in circles, the last of their kind in captivity in France.

Meet Wikie, a 24-year-old orca, and her 12-year-old son, Keijo. Both were born and have spent their entire lives in captivity.

Their current residence, Marineland Antibes, has been shut to the public since January 2025. Yet, over a year later, these majestic creatures remain in the confines of their enclosure.

In late 2025, footage of Wikie and Keijo in their tank captured public attention and quickly went viral, sparking renewed interest and concern over their situation.

But for Wikie and Keijo — and other marine animals like them — fierce debate around their future has yet to lead to a definite solution.

In December, it seemed as though one may have been reached: sending Wikie and Keijo to a yet-to-be-built whale sanctuary.

The plan was proposed by a group called the Whale Sanctuary Project (WSP), whose goal is to create a sanctuary in Nova Scotia, a province on the east coast of Canada, to house dolphins and whales released from captivity.

The French ministry of ecological transition announced it had decided Wikie and Keijo could join the Whale Sanctuary Project, saying in a statement that the transfer “could take place in the summer of 2026”.

Mathieu Lefèvre, the minister delegate, said it was “the only ethical solution, credible and in accordance with the law”.

In an Instagram post at the time, the WSP said it had a “tight schedule to meet” to be able to welcome Wikie and Keijo by the end of summer in the northern hemisphere.

“While we have the funds to begin construction, we do not yet have the funds to meet every milestone as we work to complete the sanctuary,” the statement said.

Despite the initial momentum, Wikie and Keijo’s future is still unconfirmed. French officials were due to make a formal decision about the whale’s future by the end of March, but this has not yet occurred.

Marineland, which owns the whales, called the WSP plan a “hypothetical solution that does not exist” in February, according to The Guardian.

It has instead called for the orcas to be transferred to a marine park in Tenerife, Spain, where it says the animals will have better care.

There are also concerns, including from anti-whaling organisation Sea Shepherd France, that the water in Nova Scotia would be too cold for the orcas. The WSP says that as Wikie and Keijo are Icelandic whales, they are biologically adapted to this environment.

This is the complex reality of rehoming whales.

Why Wikie and Keijo need to be rehomed

Theme park Marineland Antibes, where Wikie and Keijo are currently homed, closed in 2025 due to “serious economic difficulties”, including declining attendance, post-COVID-19 economic issues and, crucially, a law change.

In 2021, the French government banned the captivity and performance of cetaceans: whales, dolphins and porpoises. Marine parks and aquariums were given until December 2026 to find new homes for those already in captivity.

Since the French law was introduced, Wikie’s 25-year-old brother Inouk and her 12-year-old son Moana have died.

Marineland Antibes initially tried to transfer Wikie and Keijo to a marine park in Japan, but the French government rejected this based on concerns of insufficient animal protection standards.

A proposal to move the whales to Spain was also previously rejected by a Spanish scientific agency.

Dr Lori Marino, founder of the Whale Sanctuary Project, spoke to SBS Dateline prior to the French government’s December statement.

“There are a lot of facilities … [that are] closing down, and that’s a great first step, and I applaud them for that. But now they need to step up and help care for these animals who they bred into captivity,” she said.

A chance for ‘a dignified retirement’

There are 54 orcas in captivity worldwide, according to global dolphin and whale captivity tracker Cetabase.

As countries start introducing bans on cetacean captivity, another problem is emerging.

Dr Naomi Rose is the senior scientist of marine mammal biology at the Animal Welfare Institute in Washington DC. She’s also on the board of the WSP.

According to Rose, more than intelligence or ecology, the best predictor of how well a species will fare in captivity is how wide-ranging they are — essentially, how far they typically travel.

Orcas can travel hundreds of kilometres a day, regularly diving 20 to 30m below the surface. Rose said the largest enclosures only tend to be around 70m long, 30m wide, and 10 to 12m deep.

Whales born and raised in captivity, like Wikie and Keijo, have spent their lives performing for food. They haven’t had the chance to learn necessary survival skills, so can’t be released into the wild.

The “goal is to provide as many of these animals who are currently in captivity the option of a dignified retirement,” Rose told Dateline.

The potential for whale sanctuaries

According to Rose, there are “well-established” models for wildlife sanctuaries, but these are all land-based. Establishing a marine sanctuary is more difficult.

“You can buy land, you can buy a huge amount of land, a ranch or whatever, and then turn it into an elephant sanctuary. You can’t do that with the ocean. You can’t buy the ocean. You have to rent it, if you will,” she said.

There are currently no sanctuaries capable of supporting orcas.

In October 2025, the WSP was given approval from Nova Scotia’s provincial government.

The next step takes “a lot of money” — Lori Marino estimates US$15 million ($22.6 million).

“We know exactly what we need to do to create the sanctuary,” she told Dateline. “We need the whales.”

As well as Wikie and Keijo, the WSP has considered belugas from Canada and South Korea as potential candidates.

Why is rehoming whales so complicated?

Public attitudes towards the captivity of whales, and the existence of zoos more broadly, have been shifting over the past few decades.

Academic studies have investigated “the Blackfish effect”, the term given to the shift in public opinion after the release of the 2013 documentary Blackfish, which looked at the impact of captivity on Tilikum, an orca whale at Sea World in the US who was involved in the deaths of three people.

At the time, SeaWorld said, “instead of a fair and balanced treatment of a complex subject, the film is inaccurate and misleading”.

In the wake of the documentary’s release, a campaign to #EmptyTheTanks spread on social media alongside protests outside SeaWorld.

SeaWorld ultimately stopped its orca breeding program, announcing their current whales would be the last generation at their parks.

“As society’s understanding of orcas continues to change, SeaWorld is changing with it.” then SeaWorld Entertainment CEO Joel Manby said at the time.

Rose said marine parks could make changes to their business models that would allow them to improve the welfare of their whales while still generating profit, potentially through building their own sanctuaries. But they are “very rigid in their idea of what makes a profit”.

Rose said the three main arguments for keeping captive orcas as “ambassadors for their species” are research, conservation, and education. But she said this approach is flawed as global conservation efforts have had limited success.

And since the captive environment is so different to the ocean, scientific findings aren’t easily transferrable, she said.

Parks argue they educate the public by engaging audiences and encourage them to participate in broader conservation efforts. Rose said the data doesn’t show this.

“It happens once in a while, but it doesn’t justify the suffering these animals go through to make five conservationists.”

Thirty belugas under threat of euthanasia

Similarly to France, the Canadian parliament passed a law in 2019 to restrict the future captivity of whales and dolphins.

Camille Labchuk is an animal rights lawyer and the executive director of advocacy group Animal Justice Canada. She was part of the nearly four-year campaign to change Canada’s laws.

She said the idea of the law was that “the generation in tanks now would be the last generation”.

She said solving the issues of rehoming animals in captivity would require a “concerted international effort”.

“The world has plenty of coastline. The world has plenty of goodwill.”

Marineland of Canada (no relation to Marineland Antibes) closed to the public in September 2024. Thirty beluga whales still live there.

An application to transfer them to a Chinese marine park was rejected after concerns they would return to performing in captivity.

Citing the cost of continuing care after the park is closed, the operators have said, in a letter to the minister of fisheries, their “only options at this point are to either relocate the whales or face the devastating decision of euthanasia”.

Labchuk said it is legal if Marineland doesn’t kill them “in a cruel manner”.

However, she doubts there is a way the whales could be killed “without delving into criminal animal cruelty”.

In recent months, Marineland requested approval from the Canadian government to rehome the belugas across four US institutions in Chicago, Georgia and Connecticut, and one of the SeaWorld parks. Canada’s fisheries minister Joanne Thompson said in January that she would issue the permits for the whales’ move “once final required information is received from Marineland”.

As of April, the park has reportedly requested government loan of between CAD$10 million and $20 million ($10.1 million and $20.3 million) to move the belugas.

From dolphin trainer to whale scientist

Dr Vanessa Pirotta is a whale scientist at Macquarie University in Sydney. Growing up in Canberra, far from the ocean, she was inspired by the 1993 movie Free Willy.

Before becoming a scientist, she worked as dolphin trainer at a facility in Coffs Harbour, on the NSW north coast.

She doesn’t want to see more wild animals captured for facilities like marine parks.

“As a scientist, I don’t agree with the capturing of any further animals into captivity,” she said.

However, Pirrotta said she thought people also tend not to understand that zoos can have an important role in caring for rescued animals, rather than just existing for entertainment.

As a former trainer, Pirotta said it’s important to remember that facilities have a duty to continue providing for animals in their care “so they can see out their life in the best way possible”.

In some extreme cases, she said, euthanasia may be the best option.

“The reality is these animals are also long-lived, which means that a small pool of money may sustain a period of time, but may not be ongoing,” she said.

What next for France’s trapped orcas?

In their assessment of potential destinations, the French general inspector for the environment said Wikie and Keijo must be moved in 12 to 18 months to avoid exposing them to “excessive risk”.

That recommendation was given in June 2024.

Now the world is watching to see what the future holds for this mother and son.

CHP Officer and Alleged Hitman Lover Charged in Shocking Husband Murder Plot

0

A man from Napa Valley has been convicted for his role in a murder-for-hire scheme orchestrated by a former California Highway Patrol captain, aimed at killing her husband. Text messages played a crucial role in uncovering the plot.

In Kentucky, a jury at the Cumberland County courthouse found Thomas O’Donnell guilty on Friday for the murder of Michael Harding, who was the estranged husband of Julie Harding.

According to prosecutors, Julie Harding enlisted O’Donnell, whom she had reportedly described to colleagues as her romantic partner, to execute the murder amidst ongoing divorce proceedings, as reported by KCRA 3.

The jury reached their guilty verdict in just about two hours following the closing arguments.

“There’s no evidence someone else killed him,” stated Prosecutor Jesse Stockton, as he concluded his presentation to the 12-member jury.

“All this evidence points to this amateur hitman from California. Do your duty. Find him guilty of murder.”

The quick verdict came after days of testimony from dozens of witnesses, including an FBI agent who walked jurors through 2022 text messages showing how Harding was lured to a secluded home under the guise of an HVAC repair.

“At 4:10 p.m., Michael Harding texts the prepaid phone, ‘35 minutes out,’” Special Agent Elizabeth Wheeler testified. She said someone replied, “No worries.”

Michael then responded, “Is that good for you?”

The user of the prepaid phone replied, “Yes.”

“See ya soon,” Michael texted.

“Perfect,” came the response at 4:16 p.m.

FBI data showed the prepaid phone traveled alongside O’Donnell’s personal phone, including three trips to Celina, Tennessee, where Michael lived.

Two days before the murder, O’Donnell’s phone was near Julie’s Sacramento home at the same time as hers.

Prosecutors argued this is when she hired him. On the day of the killing, Julie Harding’s phone was in Sacramento, while O’Donnell’s phone and the prepaid phone were near the crime scene in Kentucky, where Harding was shot at a vacant home on Sept. 19, 2022.

Prosecutors also pointed to DNA and ammunition evidence, though investigators never recovered the murder weapon, the prepaid phone, or a key fob linked to the case.

The defense argued that phone data only shows device locations —not who was using them —and noted there was no direct proof of payment.

Attorneys claimed O’Donnell was involved in a plan but did not intend for Harding to be killed, suggesting a third, unknown man may have carried out the shooting.

“Julie came up with a plan involving another man and Tom,” said defense attorney Sara Zeurcher. “Tom was involved with this plan but did not intend for this result to happen. There has been no proof he had any idea that Michael Harding would be murdered.”

The defense also pointed to Julie as the only person who may have known the full truth. She died by suicide months after the killing.

The murder happened on Sept. 19, 2022, at a vacant home on Glasgow Road in Burkesville, Kentucky. O’Donnell, 64, now faces 20 years to life in prison and he will be sentenced on Monday.

Miranda Hart Unveils Strategy for ‘Celebrity Traitors’ as She Heads to Scottish Castle for Highly Anticipated TV Comeback

Miranda Hart is set to make a comeback to television, as she has been confirmed as part of the cast for the second season of Celebrity Traitors.

The 53-year-old comedian, famed for her BBC series “Miranda,” recently opened up about her health struggles in her 2024 autobiography. She revealed a challenging 30-year battle with health issues that left her bedridden and devoid of happiness.

After three decades of misdiagnoses, doctors finally identified that Miranda had been suffering from Lyme Disease, a bacterial infection. Initially, her condition was mistakenly attributed to agoraphobia, an anxiety disorder marked by intense fear of certain environments.

Miranda also disclosed that she had been diagnosed with ME, commonly known as chronic fatigue syndrome.

Consequently, she has largely stayed out of the public eye for the past five years, making only occasional appearances on chat shows and participating in Comic Relief events.

But fans were delighted to see Miranda’s name among the cast list for The Traitors on Saturday.

The comedian later shared a snap of herself poking fun at her misspelled name in the BBC show’s trailer as she sat in the back of a car en route to Scotland.

In a sign that she will do her best to entertain the Traitors and Faithfuls during her castle stay, Miranda reposted a fan’s request for her to return to her signature comedic move and ‘please gallop around the castle.’

The star replied: ‘I now see that as a dare.’

In an extract from her book I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You Miranda offered an insight into the height of her health struggles while doctors failed to find the cause of her symptoms.

The comedian, who also shared in her book she had married surveyor Richard Fairs, admitted that she felt increasingly ‘alone’ as if no one seemed to understand the height of her struggles.

‘As I continued to study the scientists on this matter, another phrase stood out. They would say, ”There’s nothing wrong here right now.” What?!

‘Oh, it seemed not only implausible, but downright mean. Frankly, I would have punched someone in the face had they coolly said this to me when I was collapsed with exhaustion. I would have shouted, um, excuse me, but EVERYTHING is wrong.

‘I can’t get out of bed. I’m alone. No one understands. My dreams and hopes for my life are fading away. Nothing is right, right now. It’s wrong. And that’s why it’s also blooming awful. I’m all full of wrong, so, and I mean this with no disrespect at all, go away, thank you to you!’

The Celebrity Traitors series two cast was officially announced when the BBC dropped the first teaser trailer on Saturday, with Maya Jama, Jerry Hall and Romesh Ranganathan, also heading to the castle.

Shortly after the announcement, Jerry was spotted touching down in Inverness alongside Richard E Grant, Bella Ramsey and Amol Rajan, before jumping in cars to head to the iconic Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands.

After months of speculation over who could be following in the iconic footsteps of last year’s winner Alan Carr, in a quirky new trailer the 21 names were finally revealed.

Also heading to Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands are Michael Sheen,  Ross Kemp and James Blunt.

Comedians Rob Beckett, Joe Lycett, Joanna McNally and James Acaster will also be joined by Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

The line up will be completed by mathematician Hannah Fry, broadcaster Amol Rajan, Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, prankster King Kenny, Industry star Myha’la, Heartstopper’s Sebastian Croft and My Mad Fat Diary’s Sharon Rooney.

Set in airport arrivals, the trailer shows a line of actors standing with the iconic roundtable chalk boards revealing the names.

In the BBC’s announcement clip, people were seen holding signs at an airport with each of the celebrities names on them.

But in a hilarious nod to the show, many of the stars’ names were spelt wrong, such as ‘Rob Bucket’, ‘Miranda Heart’ and ‘Richardy Grant’.

Jeanine Pirro Claims Secret Service Was Struck by Shooter’s Bullet

0

During a recent interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro disclosed that evidence confirms a Secret Service agent was struck by gunfire at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Pirro revealed that the bullet, which hit the agent, originated from the firearm carried by the 31-year-old suspect, Cole Thomas Allen. She made this announcement on Sunday.

“We’ve successfully identified the gun involved. Initially, there’s video footage showing the defendant firing at the Secret Service agent. Moreover, the agent himself can attest to being shot at and subsequently returning fire,” Pirro explained.

She further emphasized, “What’s crucial, Jake, is our ability to prove that a pellet from the defendant’s Mossberg pump-action shotgun was found embedded in the fibers of the Secret Service officer’s vest.”

Pirro concluded, “There is no doubt it was his bullet. He targeted the Secret Service agent with the intent to kill him, along with anyone obstructing his path to assassinate the President of the United States.”

Tapper went on to press Pirro about who the target of the shooting was, repeating a line from the alleged manifesto that included harsh allegations against Donald Trump.

‘He does say, and I want to apologize for using this language, but he does say, quote, I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes, unquote,’ Tapper said.

Pirro slammed Tapper for reading that portion, saying, ‘First of all, that’s outrageous. I mean, there’s a lot of other things you could have referred to. This guy is a hater. He hates Trump so much. He wants to kill him.’

That excerpt from the manifesto appeared to particularly upset Trump during the 60 Minutes interview he did in the wake of the attempted assassination.

Trump told CBS News anchor Norah O’Donnell she was a ‘disgrace’ for reading some of the most inciting lines of Allen’s missive during their interview.

O’Donnell said, ‘He appears to reference a motive. In it, he writes this: quote, ”Administrative officials, they are targets.” He also wrote this: “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” What’s your reaction to that?’

Trump replied: ‘Well, I was waiting for you to read that, because I knew you would. Because you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I am not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.’

O’Donnell attempted to interrupt Trump, asking: ‘Oh, do you think he was referring to you?’

‘Excuse me. Excuse me. I am not a pedophile,’ he quickly said, cutting the anchor off.

Trump then appeared to refer to what he felt was the connection Allen was attempting to make between himself and pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

‘You read that c**p from some sick person. I got associated with all stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, let’s say, Epstein or other things.’

Trump has never been charged with a crime in connection to Epstein, who the President has said he kicked out of his Mar-a-Lago club decades ago.

Pirro’s office has charged Allen with attempted assassination, as well as two additional firearms counts, including discharging a weapon during a crime of violence.

Prosecutors say Allen attempted to storm the event on April 25, where President Trump and a number of his top cabinet officials were attending the press event at the Hilton Hotel in Washington DC.

Footage showed the alleged gunman sprinting at agents and trying to burst into the room, moments before the president and First Lady Melania Trump were hastily evacuated from the event.

Allen allegedly exchanged gunfire with Secret Service, and a Secret Service agent was shot in the chest but was saved by a ballistic vest, escaping with only minor injuries.

Though Allen was quickly subdued and did not enter the large dining hall, many of those in attendance have fretted over how a gunman was even able to get into the building, particularly after two prior assassination attempts on the President’s life.

Prosecutors said Allen was able to sneak several weapons into the hotel for his alleged assassination attempt, including a Mossberg Maverick 12-guage shotgun and hunting knives.

He avoided the hotel’s highly monitored corridors by slipping through an internal stairway that was not as closely surveilled as the hallways and elevators.

After running down around 10 stories in the stairwell, the gunman emerged on a lower level close to the initial screening area where magnetometers and Secret Service were stationed.

Allen was tackled to the ground after the exchange of gunfire, and footage showed him shirtless on the floor as he was taken into custody on Saturday night.

According to a manifesto he sent to family members moments before his planned attack, Allen was attempting to take out the President and members of his inner circle.

Allen’s manifesto reportedly read: ‘Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial.’
