That was quite the wheelie misjudgment.

A brazen thief made off with an expensive motorized wheelchair from a New York City building, casually taking the seat and cruising away in a slow-motion escape, as revealed by astonishing surveillance footage.

The police are currently on the lookout for this audacious individual, who is accused of entering an apartment complex at 888 Grand Concourse in the Bronx around 2:11 a.m. on April 21, and absconding with a $5,000 wheelchair that had been parked near the lobby, as reported by the NYPD.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect, dressed in black pants, a blue sweatshirt, a black vest, carrying a black backpack, and donning a blue and white winter hat, entering the building and pulling the motorized wheelchair out from under a staircase.

The video then captures him settling into the wheelchair and steering it towards the lobby, making his unconventional getaway.

Police said the alleged thief fled on the power chair and are seeking the public’s help in identifying him.

During a speech in Florida on Friday, Donald Trump mimicked Representative Ilhan Omar, referencing allegations that she married her brother. This impersonation marked the latest episode in the ongoing feuds between the former president and the congresswoman from Minnesota’s “Squad.”

Trump has often highlighted the controversial claims regarding Omar’s personal life, particularly the reports suggesting she engaged in a marriage with her sibling. While addressing the audience, he performed a mock impression of Omar, who he accused of being pivotal in Somali immigration to the United States.

“She married her brother to come in!” Trump declared to his supporters.

He further speculated that Omar might be under investigation, adding, “They’re looking at her; I have nothing to do with it,” while reiterating his belief in the marriage allegations.

He then speculated that she was being investigated, saying ‘they’re looking at her, I have nothing to do with it’, before reiterating that he believes she married her brother.

‘It’s a lovely couple actually, but it’s a little bit on the illegal side. Darling, I love you very much, good night brother, let’s go to bed.’ 

‘Isn’t she despicable? I can’t stand watching her,’ Trump added, getting into rumors that she was also hiding her net worth. 

‘Did you see? Last month, she accidentally checked a box that said she was worth $38 million and law enforcement came after her for that and after that, she was worth less than $80,000. She said it was an accounting error. Not a very good accountant.’

Congresswoman Omar quickly responded to Trump with salacious allegations of her own on social media. 

‘This unhinged rant would solicit anger if it wasn’t coming from a criminal, who has 34 felony convictions, held accountable for rape and accused of being a pedo,’ Omar wrote. 

‘I still don’t know how anyone would willingly humiliate themselves like this but here we are. Btw, the pedophile protection party should find new material for their deflection.’ 

A source from inside the Somali community told the Daily Mail back in February 2020 that the Democratic congresswoman told friends years ago that the man who went on to become her second husband was her brother. 

Abdihakim Osman was the first person to go on record to speak of how Omar said she wanted to get her brother papers so he could stay in the United States, at a time when she was married to her first husband Ahmed Hirsi.

Omar has denied the allegations, and there continues to be scant evidence that the claims are true.

Earlier this year, Omar came under investigation after newly filed financial disclosures showed her family’s reported wealth exploding to more than $30 million in a single year.

The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, is examining how the ‘Squad’ lawmaker and her husband rapidly amassed millions – at a time that a $9 billion Somali social services fraud scandal also exploded in her state. 

Investigators are openly weighing subpoenas as they probe whether politically connected businesses tied to Omar’s family warrant deeper scrutiny, House Republicans said. 

The investigation follows federal prosecutors opening a broader investigation into alleged industrial-scale fraud involving billions of dollars in social service funds in Minnesota. 

Republicans say that scandal alone makes Omar’s apparent financial windfall impossible to ignore. 

‘We’re going to get answers, whether it’s through the Ethics Committee or the Oversight Committee, one of the two,’ Comer said to the New York Post. 

The scrutiny intensified after Omar’s 2024 financial disclosure revealed her family’s net worth ballooned, jumping from negligible assets to a valuation that could reach as high as $30 million in a single year, according to the ranges reported on the form.

In a video she posted to Instagram this week, the congresswoman scoffed at questions about whether she was connected to the fraud scandal emerging in her state this month. 

‘Why would there be an allegation that I’m complicit? How would I be complicit?’ Omar snapped at a reporter.

When pressed further, she lashed out: ‘Do you just ask stupid questions?’

‘Nine billion, really?’ Omar said sarcastically, referencing the reported level of the alleged fraud. 

‘That is more than half of the resources that are allocated. So, you genuinely think your brain has told you that it is possible for half of the resources for our public service to have disappeared? Listen to yourself.’

When the reporter cited Comer’s concerns during a House Oversight hearing, Omar doubled down.

‘That’s what Comer believes because he’s as smart as you are,’ she said. ‘There’s absolutely no goddam way.’

Omar has forcefully rejected any suggestion of wrongdoing. She has never been charged or formally accused of a crime in relation to the alleged Minnesota fraud scandal nor her husband’s soaring net worth. 

Trump is visiting The Villages in central Florida, a community for older Americans, to talk about how his policies are helping them.

He said he loves Florida and was ‘thrilled’ to be among the ‘great American patriots’ of The Villages.

‘Now, you know I shouldn´t be here,’ Trump said, referencing what law enforcement authorities have said was an attempt on his life during a gala dinner in Washington last weekend.

Authorities have confirmed that human remains found near a Tampa Bay bridge on April 26 belong to Nahida Bristy, a missing doctoral student from the University of South Florida. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that DNA, dental records, and clothing analysis conclusively identified the remains as those of Bristy.

“We have located Nahida Bristy,” stated Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We have informed her family and are currently working to return both bodies to their families in Bangladesh for religious reasons.”

Bristy, who was pursuing a doctoral degree in chemical engineering, was last seen on the morning of April 16 at the NES Building on the USF Tampa campus. Tragically, she and another doctoral student, Zamil Limon, disappeared on the same day, within hours of each other. Limon’s remains were found on April 24 on the Howard Frankland Bridge.

“We extend our condolences to their loved ones as they face this painful reality. We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that justice is pursued in their name.”

Hisham Abugharbieh, Limon’s roommate, is in custody and has been charged with both murders, authorities said.

The 26-year-old faces charges, including domestic violence simple battery, domestic violence false imprisonment, tampering with evidence, failure to report a death to the medical examiner’s office or law enforcement and unlawfully holding or moving a human dead body in unapproved conditions.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Bristy was last seen on surveillance video at the University of South Florida at 12 p.m., and was reported missing the following day by a friend to the USF Police Department. Limon was reported missing the next day, and authorities took over the investigation April 22.

Investigators later searched Limon’s apartment, where they found his student ID, eyeglasses, a shirt with blood and tears and phone cases belonging to both victims. Authorities also deployed a marine unit and dive team to search areas of the last known GPS signals from the victims’ phones.

On Sunday, April 26, kayakers discovered the remains in mangroves near Interstate 275 and 4th Street North after a fishing line became caught on a trash bag. Authorities said the remains were in an advanced state of decomposition and required several days to identify.

Detectives said the investigation revealed blood evidence inside the apartment shared by Limon and the suspect, and they are continuing to work to determine a motive in what officials described as an active and ongoing investigation.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Since taking over as the Mets’ starting shortstop, Ronny Mauricio has found himself frequently struggling at the plate. His debut as shortstop was marked by a series of strikeouts, a trend that continued into his initial at-bat against the Angels on Friday, which ended with an inning-ending double play.

Despite these challenges, the Mets remain invested in Mauricio, largely due to his impressive raw power. That potential was on full display during the seventh inning, when Mauricio launched a crucial tiebreaking home run, propelling the Mets to a 4-3 win and snapping their two-game losing streak.

On the same day that the team’s president of baseball operations, David Stearns, announced his continued support for manager Carlos Mendoza amidst the team’s struggles, the Mets saw a solid performance from pitcher Christian Scott. The team overcame a three-run deficit in the sixth inning, with Mauricio’s powerful hit in the seventh proving decisive.

Mauricio’s homer came off a 1-1 fastball from Jose Fermin, rocketing out of the park with an impressive exit velocity of 111.3 mph. This marked Mauricio’s first home run of the season, a significant moment since he stepped in as the starting shortstop following Francisco Lindor’s move to the injured list due to a left calf strain, which could keep Lindor off the field for an extended period.

Scott threw a high sweeper that Jorge Soler launched for a two-run homer in the first inning, placing the Mets in an immediate hole. Mike Trout singled in the inning before, with two outs, Soler hit a no-doubter over the left field fence. 

Zach Neto got drilled by Scott leading off the third and stole second. When Neto later attempted to steal third, Francisco Alvarez unleashed a throw that sailed into left field, allowing the Angels to score their third run. 

The Mets loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth against Walbert Urena, but Marcus Semien was retired on a fly to right after working a full count. Bo Bichette singled leading off and Juan Soto and Brett Baty each walked. MJ Melendez and Alvarez each struck out with Bichette in scoring position. 

Urena was knocked out in the sixth on Bichette’s line drive that struck his right leg and caromed for a leadoff single. Urena, who crumpled to the ground, attempted to remain in the game, but was physically unable.

Brent Suter entered and allowed singles to Soto and Alvarez, the latter of which pulled the Mets within 3-1. Semien’s two-run single with two outs tied it. 

Scott began rolling in the middle innings, retiring nine straight batters after he plunked Neto in the third. During that stretch, he struck out five, getting the Mets to a spot where Mendoza wouldn’t have to stretch out the bullpen.
