Nevada Brush Fire Rages Over 10,500 Acres, State of Emergency Declared

0

A rapidly advancing brush fire surged across more than 10,500 acres near Reno, Nevada, on Saturday, placing approximately 1,000 homes in jeopardy. The blaze, intensified by fierce winds, necessitated evacuations and prompted urgent firefighting efforts.

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency in Washoe County as the Hawk Fire swiftly expanded. According to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, a combination of strong, gusty winds, low humidity, and dry terrain fueled the fire’s rapid spread.

Saturday evening saw a coordinated response from around 400 firefighters and personnel representing local, state, and federal agencies. Crews battled the flames from both the ground and sky, with three helicopters operating throughout the night in a bid to safeguard homes and properties.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve reported that some structures had succumbed to the fire, though specifics about the types of structures affected were not immediately disclosed.

“The Hawk Fire presents a highly dynamic challenge, primarily driven by the winds,” explained Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue Chief Richard Edwards in a video update shared on social media.

“The wind-driven fires move very rapidly into our residential areas, creating a lot of challenges for our firefighters to save homes and protect lives,” Edwards added.

Officials ordered new evacuations for the Somersett community, including areas north of Somersett Parkway to Robb Drive, as well as neighborhoods north of West 7th Street to North McCarran Boulevard.

About 1,000 homes were also in a “Warning — GET SET” zone, with residents told to be ready to leave.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve urged anyone ordered to evacuate not to wait, saying the fire had already damaged structures.

“If you have been told to evacuate, please don’t wait!” Schieve said in a statement. “Structures have already been burned in this fire and your life is more important than a building.”

The mayor did not immediately specify what kind of structures were burned. She said leaving before the fire arrives also allows firefighters to focus on battling the flames rather than rescuing people who stayed behind.

Lombardo also said the fire was threatening homes and other structures.

“This is an active and rapidly evolving situation, and I urge everyone in the affected areas to remain vigilant and follow the direction of local officials,” the governor said in a statement.

Officials were also keeping a close eye on the fire near a Washoe County correctional facility.

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said his office was working with fire and emergency crews and was prepared to act if conditions changed.

“The safety and security of every incarcerated individual, as well as our staff, remains a top priority,” Balaam said. “We will continue to evaluate conditions and respond accordingly.”

UCLA Athlete Reacts to Controversial USC Billboard Near Campus

0

When Bob Chesney first took charge, the sight of Cardinal-and-Gold was a clear target, sparking a fiery determination in him.

During his initial press appearance, the UCLA coach emphatically pledged to elevate his team to become the premier football team in the area.

“I guarantee this will come to pass,” Chesney confidently asserted back in December, “and very soon indeed.”

Recently, however, Chesney has adopted a more tempered stance regarding USC. After the Trojans stirred the rivalry by erecting a billboard near Westwood—displaying an anonymous player giving a two-finger Victory Salute with the bold message “THE TIME IS: NOW”—Chesney remarked that he hadn’t noticed it and had no particular opinion on the matter.

“No,” he commented in the spring when questioned about the billboard located at Santa Monica and Sepulveda boulevards, “I don’t have any specific thoughts on it.”

That’s not the case when it comes to one new Bruin.

Tight end Josh Phifer, who followed Chesney from James Madison on this cross-country adventure, had a visceral reaction when informed of the billboard.

“Ugh,” Phifer said, getting into the rivalry spirit three months before the teams meet on Nov. 28 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. “I’ve got to go out there and get some black paint or something — [put] a X over it or something.”

That would be keeping in the spirit of rivalry revenge spanning back nearly a century.

Perhaps the prank that sparked the biggest backlash was six USC fans taking UCLA’s “Victory Bell” — plucked from a Southern Pacific railroad locomotive and rung after every Bruins touchdown — after posing as UCLA fans and loading it into the back of a truck they drove off in.

UCLA tight end Josh Phifer, who followed coach Bob Chesney to Westwood from UCLA, has a strong opinion about the USC football billboard erected near campus.

A peace accord was later reached, awarding the bell to the winner of the annual rivalry game, though the high jinks persisted.

In 1957, USC students furtively distributed cards at the Coliseum in the UCLA student section that revealed a giant “SC” pattern when displayed during the game.

A year later, Trojans loyalists seized a delivery truck meant to distribute UCLA’s student paper and replaced it with fake editions bearing “Beat SC!!!” headlines that were passed out on campus.

In 1989, USC supporters unleashed 30,000 crickets, painted red and gold, in a UCLA library during exam week.

There have also been multiple assaults on the Tommy Trojan statue on USC’s campus and the Bruin Bear statue at UCLA, leading to around-the-clock protection in some years. Trojans fans even managed to infiltrate a protective box in 2018 to splash the bear in cardinal and gold paint.

And if anything happens to that USC billboard on the edge of Westwood?

Well, let’s just say there could be a person of interest in any inquiry.

“Obviously, I want to win that rivalry game, you know what I mean?” Phifer said. “I want to whoop them, and I know recent history hasn’t gone the best for UCLA, so I definitely want to go win that game.”

Kate Moss Earns Multi-Million Pound Fortune Through Campaigns and Cosmoss Success

Kate Moss, over the course of her illustrious career, has reportedly accumulated substantial wealth, with her estimated net worth standing at $70 million as of 2022.

In a twist of fate, the legendary supermodel, now 49, was discovered by Storm Management in 1988. Agency founder Sarah Doukas spotted her potential when she saw Kate walking through New York’s JFK Airport after a family vacation in the Bahamas.

Barely into her teenage years at 14, Moss made a sensational debut into the modeling world, stepping onto the catwalk just a year later and leaving a lasting impression.

Her rise to fame hit a significant milestone in the mid-1990s, as a widely talked about topless advert for Calvin Klein jeans at the age of 16 propelled her to stardom and made her a household name.

During this decade, Kate became an emblem of the ‘heroin chic’ look, recognized for her slender frame and fair complexion, though she described the term as ‘awful with no positive interpretation’.

She has gone on to appear on the cover of fashion magazine Vogue more than 30 times during her career, while in 2007, TIME magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

With no real breaks in her over twenty year career, the mother-of-one is one of the rare models to have worked continuously in the fashion industry.

She faced a major stumbling block in 2005 however, when newspaper photographs allegedly showed her snorting cocaine in a recording studio with her then boyfriend, singer Pete Doherty.

The scandal cost Kate major modelling contracts with international companies, including Chanel and she was famously dropped by H&M from their Stella McCartney collection campaign.

But she managed to hold on to big contracts with Christian Dior and Rimmel and subsequently won back her deal with Chanel.

Stardom: She made her debut on the catwalk at 15 and rose to fame, becoming synonymous with the 'heroin chic' aesthetic of the decade due to her skinny frame and pale skin (pictured in 1992)

She bounced back and went on to secure deals with Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Virgin Mobile as well as Longchamp, Mango and Vogue-Eyewear before making £3 million designing clothing for Topshop the following year.

And Kate has only gone from strength to strength ever since, even being honoured at the British Fashion Awards to acknowledge her contribution to the fashion industry over the course of 25 years.

From continuing to use her enduring beauty to star in many high-end campaigns, Kate’s also signed several huge deals and started another successful business of her own causing her to have one of her best years yet.

MailOnline takes a look at how busy the stunner has been over the past several months and how her star and fortune have only continued to rise.

Diet Coke

In July 2022, Kate hit the headlines after she signed a huge new deal with Diet Coke following being named the new ‘creative director’ of the brand.

According to The Mirror, the catwalk star could reportedly ‘be earning up to £5million for the partnership’.

An advertising source told the publication: ‘Far from her star having waned, the next stage of Mossy’s career is burning brighter than ever. She is still very much the hottest ticket in town.’

It comes after Kate was named as the new Creative Director for Diet Coke, taking the helm as the brand celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.

The supermodel was brought on board to bring her ‘unique aesthetic and style to the brand’ after the beverage  was previously involved in several fashionable collaborations.

Speaking about her role, Kate said: ‘I am thrilled to join the Diet Coke family – I love the past collaborations they’ve done with such incredible names in fashion.

‘The Love What You Love campaign connected with me instantly as I am a firm believer that with confidence and passion, you can achieve your wildest dreams.

She continued: ‘As Creative Director, I’m looking forward to inspiring fans and celebrating the brand’s 40th Birthday in style.’

This June, she fronted her second campaign for the beverage brand and paid homage to the famous 11:30 Diet Coke Break advert from 1997 in an advert.

The model urged fans to take a moment to ‘Love What You Love’ – spotlighting individuals who embrace a positive attitude to life, by knowing who they are and what they love.

For Season 2, Kate has been given exclusive access to the brand’s archives for inspiration, drawing on the iconic 11:30 Break TV adverts from the ’90s and 2000s as her source of creativity.

In one shot, the catwalk queen can be seen sipping a Diet Coke whilst standing in front of the London skyline, in a clear nod to the 1997 television spot which saw an office full of women watch in awe as a shirtless, hunky window washer enjoyed a bottle of Diet Coke to cool off.

Speaking about the campaign, Kate said: ‘Last year was such an incredible experience, so when we collaborated on Season 2, the brand’s archives were an amazing place to start.

‘The Diet Coke Breaks are classics, and I wanted to add a fashion twist to these moments.

The campaign is very different aesthetically to the ’90s and 2000s but the narrative is the same. It’s all about a pause to love what you love and indulge yourself in that moment, without taking yourself too seriously. I’m excited to unveil the new campaign soon!’

Sean Kellett – Partnerships & Assets Senior Manager Europe at The Coca-Cola Company – added: ‘We are thrilled to extend our partnership with kate moss as Creative Director.

‘Last year, we took inspiration from Kate’s unrivalled archives to celebrate our shared love of fashion.

‘In Season 2, we have given Kate access to Diet Coke’s legacy to create something visually stunning and unexpected, with a Diet Coke wink.

‘With Kate’s vision, this summer we will continue to inspire fans to embrace an unapologetic attitude to ‘Love What You Love’.’

Charlotte Tilbury

Kate has been friends with Charlotte Tilbury since they met on a magazine shoot in the 90s and they have collaborated on numerous projects together.

The model, who supported Charlotte’s journey from make-up artist to beauty entrepreneur, is always one of the first to try her products before they launch, with Charlotte declaring: ‘She’s always been my beauty muse!’

So it comes as no surprise that Kate and Elton John took center stage in a dazzling new video ad for beauty brand Charlotte Tilbury, which has been shared exclusively with DailyMail.com.

Despite it being October, Kate and the music legend are already stepping into the holiday spirit by teaming up their talents for the incredibly glamorous Christmas beauty campaign.

It sees the supermodel showing off her assets while dancing around in a skimpy red dress – while the Rocket Man singer plays his hit song Step Into Christmas.

Completing the Christmas party set-up are model Jourdann Dunn, actress Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Japanese singer Rina Sawayama – as well as beauty brand founder Charlotte and her nieces Sofia and Bella.

Throughout the video, which has been released to celebrate the launch of Charlotte’s new holiday collection, the women sway and dance to the music, before the clip grinds to a slow-mo shot of Kate, who declares: ‘It’s magic’ before the pace picks up once again.

Kate – a longtime friend of Elton and Charlotte – hailed the Candle in the Wind singer as an ‘inspiration’, while revealing a very unique bond that the three of them share.

‘I’m so proud to be a part of this campaign to send a message of love and joy to everyone,’ she shared.

‘I’ve always been so inspired by Elton’s incredible work with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, it has made such a difference to reducing the stigma around HIV and AIDS.

‘A few years ago, I worked with [artist] Chris Levine to create a portrait for a charity auction in support of the Elton John AIDS Foundation – Charlotte actually bought the portrait and it now hangs just outside her magical office!

‘It’s so important to use our voices to drive positive change and support causes close to our hearts.’

The new Charlotte Tilbury campaign marks only the latest time that Kate has stepped into the spotlight as a spokesmodel for pal Charlotte – who has previously praised the fashion star’s ‘hypnotic, magical magnetism’.

She called her ‘my talented, inspiring and iconic friend and brand muse’ and recalled their long friendship.

She explained: ‘I’ve known Kate since the very beginning of my career – we met for the first time both aged 19, on a Dazed shoot in the 90s, and have been friends ever since!

‘Kate supported me from the start of my journey from makeup artist to beauty entrepreneur and is always one of the first to try my products before they launch.

‘Kate is a beauty icon – she has a hypnotic, magical magnetism that changes the frequency when she walks into the room.’

Kate was quick to return the gushing praise in her own statement, describing Charlotte as a ‘great friend’.

She said: ‘I’ve known Charlotte forever, we’ve worked together on countless covers, campaigns, runways, red carpets and shared many personal moments over the year.

‘She is a great friend, and her makeup chair is one of my favorite places to be! We have so much fun on set – laughing and dancing non-stop, and I trust her implicitly so it’s always easy working together.’

She’s previously also said: ‘Charlotte and I have worked together for years – on countless shoots, campaigns and fashion shows and we always have so much fun!

‘We’ve been to so many amazing parties together over the years, from London to Ibiza and all over the world.’

Anine Bing

Last month saw Kate become the face of a new brand’s fall campaign called Bing, created by Anine Bing and her husband Nicolai Bing in Los Angeles in 2012.

The new ads show the British beauty looking incredible in dark gray skinny jeans with shiny black over-the-knee boots with a kitten heel.

She also sported a red, black and white woven jacket and a white top underneath, while her blonde hair was styled in soft waves.

The campaign also only took her a day to complete, after she flew from London to New York City for the photoshoot.

Anine gushed: ‘This is by far the biggest pinch me moment since I started @aninebingofficial 11 years ago. Kate Moss has always been my #1 muse.

‘She’s been on every collection mood board since the beginning – the most iconic of them all. I’m forever grateful for this opportunity continuing to build my brand and making all of my dreams come true.’

She added: ‘Kate is such a pro. She went in front of the camera and within five to 10 minutes, she had each look.’

Describing how the collaboration came about, Anine recalled: ‘I started mentioning to my team a couple of years ago that it would be amazing if Kate Moss would be the face of the brand.

‘Then we heard that her stylist wanted to pull some clothes from our collection. So, we knew there was some kind of interest there. That’s when we thought it might be possible.’

She described why she was drawn to Kate, explaining: ‘She comes with a little bit of an attitude and rock ‘n’ roll edge that I absolutely love. She embodies everything the brand stands for.

‘When I started the brand 11 years ago, it was inspired by my own rock ‘n’ roll days. I used to be in a band called ‘Kill Your Darlings.’

‘Originally, when we started our brand, it was more of a timeless collection, but I am ready to bring back some rock ‘n’ roll, and there is nobody better than Kate Moss to do that.’

Inspired by Scandinavian simplicity and American energy, Bing has built a global fashion house focused on everyday wardrobe essentials and investment pieces for modern women.

Bing designs are ‘thoughtfully sourced from the highest quality fabrications and materials, including leather, silk, linen, cashmere and 14k gold,’ according to a press release.

Saint Laurent

Kate has held a long relationship with Saint Laurent, walking the runway for them several times in the early 00s through her friendship with creative director Tom Ford.

She has also been friendly with previous boss Hedi Slimane and close pals with current director Anthony Vaccarello.

In August this year, she starred as the face of the brand once again for their AW23 collection.

Photographed by Gray Sorrenti, Kate sported a fresh-faced look for the black and white photoshoot and video, alongside her longtime friend and fellow model Amber Valletta.

Captured by Gray Sorrenti, who steps into a role usually occupied by David Sims, Moss is seen stripped back and close to bare-faced, hair swept back casually. Meanwhile, her look comprises a chic, off-the-shoulder ruched dress, finished with a statement teardrop earring.

Marc Jacobs

Last December, Kate reunited with Marc Jacobs for a new campaign, 22 years after first hitting the catwalk for the brand in 2000.

She revived one of her most iconic hairstyles to star in the Resort 2022/2023 campaign for their Bucket bag.

The supermodel famously dyed her bright pink for Versace’s spring/summer show back in 1999 – a year prior having starred in a now famous photograph called ‘Young Pink Kate’ by Juergen Teller modelling the fluorescent hairstyle.

And in the campaign photos Kate revisited one of her most signature looks and dyed her naturally blonde locks pink.

In one image, Kate leans on a coffee table and shows off her long legs in knee-high suspenders and huge platform heels.

Wearing a patterned top, the catwalk queen models the grey bucket bag as she gazes seductively at the camera.

In another, Kate’s pink hair is slicked back as she sits on a sofa to model a salmon-pink J Marc shoulder bag and oversized jeans.

When Kate first dyed her hair for her now famous shot in bed in the 1990s, she revealed she only kept her hot pink look for a week after Calvin Klein requested the in-demand model to have brown hair.

Kate said in 2014: ‘[It’s] so sad, because this picture is when it started looking good.’

Bottega Veneta

Kate walked in Bottega Veneta’s spring/summer 2023 show in September 2022, where she went viral.

She strutted down the runway in minimal make-up, dressed in a flannel shirt, white tank top and jeans in a look that British Vogue declared ‘subsequently defined the nonchalant style codes of the season.’

Creative director Matthieu Blazy revealed he designed the look especially for her, revealing Kate was his first Google search and the first picture he ever printed on his family printer, adding: ‘Whenever I hear a modem, I think of Kate. It’s a sound I will forever relate to her.’

He called her his ‘personal icon’ as a child and even released a fanzine dedicated to Kate in April this year.

It comes as no wonder therefore, that Kate appeared in the brands Summer 2023 campaign earlier this year wearing the same iconic outfit.

The campaign features several models, such as Emma Balfour, shot in locations all over Milan, Puglia, and Australia, by Gaetano Pesce.

Kate Moss Agency Ltd

Kate has also continued her success from her talent agency Kate Moss Agency Limited.

In July it was revealed that she has almost tripled the income of the bevy of young models signed to her modelling agency.

The supermodel founded the company in September 2016 and recent accounts have revealed the huge amount Kate’s firm has raked in for the models.

Accounts for her company Kate Moss Agency Limited showed that fees owed to its roster of models has rocketed from £814,000 to £2.1million over the course of a year.

The newly-published accounts stated: ‘Included in trade creditors is £2,123,670 due to models in 2022, which was £813,929 in 2021.’

Her roster of models include her own daughter Lila Grace, 20, as well as singer Rita Ora, 32, and rocker Bobby Gillespie’s son Lux, 19.

Kate also signed Cruz Beckham’s ex-girlfriend Bliss Chapman to her agency back in January, adding her to her growing list of modelling talent.

Bliss is the daughter of model-turned-nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson and artist Jake Chapman, and Bliss was a bridesmaid at Kate’s 2011 wedding to musician Jamie Hince.

Bliss has joined her half-sister, Elfie Reigate, 22, who was the debut signing of the Kate Moss Agency.

Kate’s modelling firm now has assets of more than £6million, proving that she can still generate cash when she’s not strutting her stuff on the runway.

Her company website says of her young talent: ‘I want to focus on managing people’s careers, not just running an agency.’

The company was left with £3.5million in the firm, up from £2.6million last year after settling money it owes to models and a £206,000 tax bill.

Cosmoss

Kate also has branched out into other ventures this year, after launching her own wellness brand called Cosmoss.

The supermodel confirmed the brand’s launch last August with a video of herself wild swimming completely naked as she promised it would ‘open a door’ to ‘balance, restoration, and love’.

The supermodel, who currently lives in the Cotswolds, claimed the brand is ‘self-care created for life’s modern journeys’ upon its launch on September 1, 2022.

It has been likened to a British version of Gwyneth Paltrow’s US business Goop as Kate became the latest celebrity to jump on the wellness market.

Kate’s beauty products, made from ‘potent, natural substances’, are split into three daily rituals which are said to balance the ‘body and soul with the natural environment and the circadian cycles’.

The website describes these rituals as enabling us to ‘adjust to the rhythm of nature, help us find inner peace and self-fulfilment, and open a door to balance, restoration and love’.

The full three rituals cost more than £400, while the popular Golden Nectar serum – which contains the ‘mythical’ tears of Chios, a plant resin produced on the Greek island – has a £105 price tag for only 30ml.

The dawn ritual, which fills the body with ‘positive energy’, costs a total of £287 and includes a £21 antioxidant ‘dawn tea’, a £52 cleanser and £95 anti-ageing face cream.

It is then finished with the £120 Sacred Mist eau de parfum which ‘envelopes you with its hypnotic yet grounding fragrance’ to ‘provide a sense of inner peace’.

The hefty price tags have already caused Cosmoss Group Ltd to have current assets of £300,822 as of June 30, 2022, according to the latest filings from Companies House.

Last month, the Daily Mail revealed that Kate had won a legal battle with a pharmaceutical firm over the name of her brand.

It means she has trademarked Cosmoss for ranges such as herbal preparations for medicinal purposes, plus food and mineral supplements in her latest venture.

‘Kate has huge ambitions for the Cosmoss brand,’ the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden was told at the time.

Discussing the brand with the Financial Times this year, she revealed she is both the creative force and sole investor.

She said: ‘A lot of people with brands, they just put their name on it. I put my money into it. I own it. I don’t want somebody to say to me, “You have to do this to get sales up”; I want to do it myself, and feel it out. How I want to play it.’

Unraveling the Heroes Cast Curse: The Unseen Shadows Behind the Noughties Drama

0

In 2006, a groundbreaking series made its debut, rapidly becoming a cultural sensation.

“Heroes” graced television screens for four thrilling seasons, earning prestigious accolades such as the Television Critics Association Award for Program of the Year, a BAFTA TV Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for its impressive stunt ensemble.

The show captivated audiences with 77 episodes, weaving the tales of average individuals who discover they possess extraordinary superpowers.

Although many cast members became breakout stars and household names, some have faced significant challenges, from battling health issues to navigating allegations of a ‘toxic’ work environment, as well as dealing with financial difficulties and legal disputes.

Tragically, just last Sunday, Hayden Panettiere, one of the beloved stars of the show, passed away at the age of 36.

She was found unresponsive in cardiac arrest after a suspected drug overdose at an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina.

Here, the Daily Mail delves into the curse of Heroes and the beloved stars who have struggled, or lost their lives, since leaving the show.

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden played Claire Bennet and was the show’s definitive breakout star at 17 years old.

However, after leaving the show, she faced her own personal struggles with addiction.

Following the birth of her daughter Kaya in 2014, whom she shares with Wladimir Klitschko, the star struggled with postpartum depression.

During an appearance on Live With Kelly And Michael, she said: ‘It’s something a lot of women experience. When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s “I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child.”

‘I’ve never, ever had those feelings.

‘Some women do. But you don’t realise how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on.

‘It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.’

After filming for Nashville wrapped up, she decided to take a break from acting after reaching rock bottom.

In 2018, she relinquished full custody of her daughter to her ex Wladimir, as she was battling severe postpartum depression, anxiety and a deep struggle with alcohol and opioid addiction.

Hayden was eventually hospitalised for jaundice and told by doctors that her ‘liver was going to give out’.

Eventually, she made the decision to go to rehab for eight months.

After her relationship ended with Wladimir, she then began dating Brian Hickerson, after reportedly meeting through mutual friends.

But in May 2019, Brian was arrested for Domestic Violence after an altercation at the couple’s home.

Things got ugly between the pair after they came home following a night of drinking in Hollywood and got into a blow-up fight, according to insiders who spoke to TMZ.

Police visited the residence around 2am, when they noticed ‘redness and marks’ on the Nashville actress’s body.

After determining there was indeed a fight, authorities took Brian into custody.

Brian, an aspiring actor, was booked on felony domestic violence and was out of $50,000 bond.

Back in November, a source told Us Weekly that ‘the couple party a lot together and it’s not a healthy situation, but none of the people close to her really know what to do. She doesn’t listen to anyone.’

‘They are deeply concerned,’ another source close to Hayden told Radar Online.

Speaking of her parents and pals, the source continued: ‘They do not approve. They are hoping that this is something that she is going to evolve from.’

Brian was charged with domestic violence in May of 2019, with Hayden receiving a protective order in the case – as the charges were dropped.

The couple split after a domestic violence incident in February 2020, and five months later, Brian was charged with eight counts of domestic violence and assault.

Brian was in jail for 13 days in connection with the arrest.

After his arrest, Hayden put out a statement saying she hoped she could serve as an example for others in a similar situation.

Following the interview, the pair were seen in LA, but Brian confirmed that they are ‘just friends’ and ‘absolutely not’ together any more.

In 2023, Hayden was hit with more bad news when her brother Jansen died unexpectedly at the age of 28.

Days after learning of her only sibling’s death, the actress recalled how she felt like she had lost ‘half my soul’.

She told PEOPLE: ‘When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul… I will always be heartbroken about [him], I will never be able to get over it.

‘No matter how many years go by, I will never get over his loss.’

Back in May, Hayden said she was hopeful for the future in one of the last interviews before her death.

During an appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, the actress spoke about moving forward as she promoted her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning.

‘I finally feel like I have shaken off all of this darkness and this negativity,’ she said. ‘I can feel all the exciting possibilities. I feel like I have a lot more life to live.’

On August 16, it was announced that the star, who would have turned 37 on August 21, was found ‘unresponsive’ by officers and paramedics in an apartment block in South Carolina.

She was later pronounced dead at the scene following a suspected overdose.

However, it is still unconfirmed whether narcotics contributed to her death, as the coroner awaits toxicology results.

However, after the series wrapped up, the star struggled to find work for an entire year.

Facing a dry spell in his early 30s, he considered quitting Hollywood, cashing out and moving to Italy to work on a farm.

‘I’ve had moments where I’ve had to pick myself up, probably in my early 30s, I couldn’t get hired in town,’ he told Variety.

He continued: ‘I was really having to re-evaluate what I was going to be doing because, you know, it’s a profession.

‘You need to feed yourself and clothe yourself and have a roof over your head. I was starting to see those things minimise.’

Thankfully, his career picked back up, and he reached new heights with This Is Us in 2016.

But in 2025, tragedy struck for Milo and his wife, Jarah Mariano, as they sadly lost their Malibu home in the devastating LA wildfires.

They safely evacuated after the Palisades Fire hit their neighbourhood, watching on security cameras before turning them off to accept the loss.

He knew his house was gone, but to stand there in person, he said it felt ‘heavy’.

‘You start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and what not,’ the Gilmore Girls alum explained.

‘And then you see your neighbours’ houses and everything kind of around and your heart just breaks,’ he continued.

However, the actress found herself at the center of the behind-the-scenes controversy regarding her co-star Leonard Roberts’s departure from Heroes

Ali played multiple characters during her time on Heroes, including Niki and her twin Tracy Sanders.

She went on to land roles in Resident Evil: Afterlife and the TV series Legends, Pitch and Landman.

However, the actress found herself at the center of the behind-the-scenes controversy regarding her co-star Leonard Roberts’s departure from Heroes.

Following his departure, he published a high-profile open letter exposing intense backstage friction and systemic racism on set.

He also explicitly named Ali as a primary factor in his early exit from the show.

Leonard detailed his relationship with Ali, saying: ‘The script suggested DL and Niki had a volatile relationship – and it wasn’t long before art was imitating life, with me on the receiving end of pushback from my co-star regarding the playing of a particularly tense scene.’

He went on to describe the filming of a bedroom scene with Ali, saying that his co-star ‘took umbrage with the level of intimacy being suggested between our characters’ and that he was ‘instantly aware of the tension on the set’.

Leonard wrote that he was told his character would be returning for season two, but shortly before production began, he said he received a voicemail message from Heroes creator and showrunner Tim Kring stating that due to ‘the Ali Larter situation’, DL would be killed when the show returned.

Show creator Tim responded to Leonard’s account by saying that he acknowledges a ‘lack of diversity’ among the Heroes staff and adding that he remembers the actor ‘fondly’.

‘Diversity, interconnectivity and inclusivity were groundbreaking hallmarks of Heroes,’ he said. ‘So too was the huge, diverse cast that continually rotated off and onto the show, with none ever being written off based on their race.

‘Looking back now, 14 years later, given the very different lens that I view the world through today, I acknowledge that a lack of diversity at the upper levels of the staff may have contributed to Leonard experiencing the lack of sensitivity that he describes.

‘I have been committed to improving upon this issue with every project I pursue. I remember Leonard fondly and wish him well.’

Ali also said that she is ‘deeply saddened’ by Leonard’s allegations that he experienced tension while working with her on the show.

She responded: ‘I am deeply saddened to hear about Leonard Roberts’s experience on Heroes and I am heartbroken reading his perception of our relationship, which absolutely doesn’t match my memory nor experience on the show.

‘I respect Leonard as an artist and I applaud him or anyone using their voice and platform.

‘I am truly sorry for any role I may have played in his painful experience during that time and I wish him and his family the very best.’

Adrian played Nathan Petrelli on Heroes and went on to roles in The Lying Game, S.H.I.E.l.D and Supergirl.

But just as Heroes was wrapping up, he went through a highly publicised, messy divorce from Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines.

The legal battle lasted years, deeply impacting his personal life and finances.

He wanted to make it clear that she was the breadwinner during the marriage as she paid for their homes while he only picked up restaurant tabs.

The TV star also argued that he put his acting career on hold to take care of the kids.

Meanwhile, Natalie said that he was trying to ‘drag out’ the divorce and force her to spend a ‘ton of money and time’ on the split, according to the site.

As for the prenup, Adrian agreed in 2000 not to receive spousal support, but then changed his mind to say it was ‘unconscionable’.

In December 2019, the pair managed to reach a private financial settlement, after a bitter two-year legal battle.

Greg played Matt Parkman on the hit show and continued acting after the series finished.

Away from the screen, he has faced personal health and family struggles.

His oldest son, Jake, was diagnosed with severe epilepsy at the age of seven after initially experiencing brief staring spells.

Greg channeled the personal hardship into community support by co-founding initiatives and hosting projects like the Talk About It! epilepsy awareness network and digital caregiver series to support families dealing with rare neurological disorders.

Elsewhere, the actor developed alopecia, which he believed was triggered or brought to presentation by a major knee replacement surgery.

He said in an social media clip: ‘I think it shocked the alopecia into, you know, actually presenting itself. I think I probably had it dormant in my body for a long time.’

The actor added that he also has Hashimoto’s disease, a condition which causes hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid.

Thinning hair is a common symptom of the disease.

‘What I’ve learned in this immediate, you know, just doing the googling and the searching and going on all these chat groups and everything, is millions of people have this,’ Grunberg continued. ‘And I look good! I mean, I’m lucky, all right? I look good.’

Ikpeazu Outshone Otti: Doris Ogala Reveals Media Betrayal

Diving into the political sphere of Abia State, Doris Ogala stands as the governorship candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), carrying with her a fresh perspective for leadership in the region.

In a bold statement, Ogala has drawn a comparison between past and present, asserting that former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s term was marked by more significant accomplishments than the current administration led by Governor Alex Otti.

However, Ogala hasn’t held back her critique of Ikpeazu’s media strategists, pointing out their inadequacy in effectively highlighting and promoting the successes of his administration to the public.

Ogala, as the African Action Congress candidate, passionately argues that under Ikpeazu’s governance, more advancements were achieved in contrast to the efforts by Alex Otti’s current leadership in Abia State.

Her critique extends to the media efforts of Ikpeazu’s team, where she believes they fell short in showcasing the projects and victories that characterized his administration, failing to give them the spotlight they deserved.

According to the actress and politician, the former governor carried out significant work in Abia State but did not receive enough public recognition because his media team allegedly failed to effectively communicate his achievements to the public.

“Former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, did more work than Governor Alex Otti; his media team betrayed him,” Ogala claimed.

Her remarks come amid growing political conversations about the performance of past and present administrations in Abia State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

See post below:

In other news… Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has expressed confidence in her political ambitions, declaring that she will become the next governor of Abia State.

Ogala made the statement while speaking about her experience in the state, insisting that she is confident nothing can prevent her from achieving her political goal.

According to the actress, she believes she is more capable than the other individuals who may be contesting for the position.

“I will be the next Governor of Abia state and nothing can stop me. I’m so sure of it because I’m better than all of them,” Doris Ogala said.

She also spoke about the living conditions she has experienced since spending time in Abia State, particularly the issue of electricity supply.

Ogala revealed that she had been in the state for about three months and claimed that she had experienced prolonged power outages during her stay.

“I have been in Abia for 3 months now, no light. I sleep in my family house and we don’t have light,” she added.

Her comments have since generated reactions, with some social media users focusing on both her gubernatorial declaration and her remarks about the power situation in the state.

Royal Family Displays Unity at Church Service Before Prince Harry’s Visit

0

In a show of solidarity, the Royal Family presented a united front following the unexpected announcement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK. The Princess of Wales was spotted with a radiant smile as she made her way to a Sunday church service near Balmoral.

Among those attending the intimate gathering at the quaint Crathie Kirk were Prince William and Princess Catherine. Their presence followed a significant family meeting held in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, indicating the importance of their gathering.

Accompanying them was their eldest child, Prince George. The service also saw King Charles and Queen Camilla in attendance, alongside Princess Anne with her husband Timothy Laurence, and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, all highlighting a closely-knit royal presence.

News surfaced last Wednesday that after six years stateside, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are relocating back to the UK, preparing their children for new educational experiences. This marks a significant shift as their family adapts to life across the Atlantic once again.

King Charles made his way to the Royal Family’s Scottish summer residence last Tuesday, followed closely by appearances from the Prince and Princess of Wales at the estate. The Princess Royal and her brother, the Duke of Edinburgh, have also been seen, illustrating the family’s commitment to this reunion.

William and Kate have not reacted publicly to the news of Harry and Meghan’s return, with the future king estranged from his younger brother following the barrage of accusations Harry levelled against him, Kate and Charles and Camilla when he stepped back from royal duties.

It has been reported the Royal Family were holding a ‘summit’ over the return of the Sussexes, although officials have stressed the gathering was in keeping with a longstanding annual tradition of extended family members staying at Balmoral during the summer.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are on a summer holiday at the Aberdeenshire estate their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

They have joined Charles and Camilla and a series of other royals for the annual trip to the Highlands, following the monarch’s arrival last Tuesday for his summer break.

Zara and Mike Tindall have also been spotted there, along with Peter Phillips and his new wife Harriet Sperling.

The news of Harry and Meghan’s UK comeback emerged last Wednesday evening, after the Balmoral gathering had begun.

Harry and Meghan’s children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, have already enrolled at British schools and will start classes in September, according to a source close to the Sussexes.

The Sussexes are thought likely to live at a private, non-royal residence outside London – with suggestions they could be moving to the Cotswolds.

Since leaving for the US they have been living in Montecito, California, while also owning a holiday home in Portugal.

King Charles was described as being taken aback when only learning of their comeback plans last Sunday – having not been told when the Sussexes met him on their visit to Britain last month.

Sources said that the terms of the Megxit deal under which the Sussexes are not ‘working royals’ will be unchanged.

The Sussexes’ status will remain the same, with the couple not being offered a ‘half in, half out’ option when it comes to their roles.

Harry and ex-Suits star Meghan, who wed at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in May 2018, were once dubbed part of the ‘Fab Four’ with the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – now the Prince and Princess of Wales.

But in March 2019, Buckingham Palace announced Harry and Meghan would set up their own household, breaking from the joint operation they had with William and Kate, amid reports of rifts between the two couples.

In January 2020, the Duke and Duchess announced they intended to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family, become financially independent, still support Elizabeth II, but split their time between the UK and North America.

By March that year they had set up a permanent home in California, officially stepped down as senior royals and stopped using their HRH styles.

The fallout worsened after accusations Harry publicly levelled at members of the Royal Family including his brother in his memoir Spare and his Netflix documentary.

In his autobiography, released just months after Queen Elizabeth II died, Harry accused William of physically attacking him and pushing him into a dog bowl in a row over Meghan.

He also alleged it was William and Kate who encouraged him to wear a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party in 2005 and ‘howled’ with laughter when they saw it.

Harry and Meghan, in their Netflix series two months after the Queen’s death, claimed Kensington Palace lied to protect William when it issued a statement denying a story he had bullied Harry out of the Royal Family.

Harry also wrote of how Charles pleaded with his two sons during a tense meeting at Windsor just after the funeral of Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, saying: ‘Please, boys. Don’t make my final years a misery.’

Meghan was able to travel to the UK in July with Archie and Lilibet to join Harry when he came to the end of a week-long series of events promoting next year’s Invictus Games.

During the visit, the Duke and Duchess took their children to see the King for the first time in four years at his Highgrove home, but are not thought to have raised the prospect of a return to the UK at that meeting.

The Invictus Games take place from July 10 to 17 next year, with Birmingham expected to welcome about 550 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, and their families, from 25 nations.

Charles is said to be happy to be able to spend more time with the Sussex family, but remains adamant they will not be working royals.

Harry and Meghan have not commented on their reasons for relocating to the UK.

Gainesville Woman Charged After Husband Stabbed with Tools

0

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a startling incident, Lakeyra Denise Ross, 43, has been taken into custody following accusations of stabbing her husband with both a pocket knife and an electric drill.

Around 10:35 p.m. on August 19, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a reported armed disturbance in the Linton Oaks area (6400 block of SW 9th Avenue). The victim alleged that Ross had repeatedly stabbed him with a pocket knife. As he attempted to flee the house, she supposedly grabbed his shirt, ripping it completely, a detail that the deputy observed on arrival.

Once outside, the victim claimed Ross escalated the attack by picking up an electric drill and attempting to stab him with it. His cries of pain echoed as he ran frantically toward the road to escape further injury.

The deputy observed several severe lacerations on the victim’s neck, multiple cuts beneath his ear, and a distinct red mark on his shoulder aligning with the size of a drill bit.

A witness reportedly supported the victim’s account, confirming that Ross had indeed used an electric drill in the assault.

Post Miranda, Ross reportedly denied using an electric drill but admitted to holding a knife in an attempt to scare the victim.

Ross has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. She has one misdemeanor conviction (non-violent). Judge William Davis ordered her held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold her without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Man Faces Charges for Allegedly Burning Child with Lighter

0

In Alachua, Florida, a serious incident has led to the arrest of 28-year-old Steve Wallace Lanier II, who faces allegations of child abuse after reportedly burning a young girl with a lighter.

The alarming account emerged when the child confided in her teacher. She recounted entering the kitchen to find Lanier engaged in a potentially dangerous game with a lighter, running his fingers through its flame. According to her statement, Lanier issued a chilling warning, threatening to harm her if she did not leave. Ignoring the warning, he allegedly pressed the heated lighter against her arm, causing harm.

A witness, whose relationship with Lanier and the child remains undisclosed, corroborated the child’s claim that Lanier burned her. Nevertheless, the witness described the act as mere playfulness on Lanier’s part.

Lanier’s interaction with the authorities was far from cooperative. An officer from the Alachua Police Department noted his reluctance to engage with an investigation led by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Lanier contested the accusations, suggesting the girl’s injury was self-inflicted during play.

Further inquiries by law enforcement substantiated the girl’s initial account to both her teacher and the DCF investigator. She consistently described the sequence of events, asserting that both Lanier and the witness were present in the kitchen when the incident transpired. She vividly recalled Lanier’s actions—first moving his fingers through the flame, then using the lighter against her arm in a clear threat.

The officer noted that an adult who keeps a lighter flame lit long enough to run his fingers through it knows, or reasonably should know, that the metal casing is hot enough to burn skin.

The officer reported that the burn on the child’s arm had two burn marks, consistent in size and shape with the top casing of a lighter.

Lanier has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm. He has no local criminal convictions; a 2022 charge of offering plumbing services without a license was dropped after he successfully completed a pre-trial diversion agreement. Judge Adam Lee set bail at $20,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
