Unlock Amal Clooney’s Secret Diet and Fitness Plan

0

Being a busy mother of two, spare moments are likely a rarity for Amal Clooney. Balancing her personal life with her high-profile career demands a strategic approach to both diet and fitness.

At 48, the international human rights attorney has streamlined her health regimen to be both practical and effective, making it easier to maintain amid a packed schedule.

Reportedly, Amal kicks off her mornings with a nourishing bowl of Miyeokguk. This traditional Korean soup, comprising edible brown seaweed, sesame oil, and garlic, provides a nutritious start to the day.

When lunchtime rolls around, Amal, who boasts Lebanese and British roots, opts for meals rich in lean proteins. She and her husband, George Clooney, employ a private chef to prepare their daily dining experiences.

A glimpse into their midday feasts was once shared by Vogue’s Nathan Heller, who wrote about being ushered into their kitchen, where an enticing spread awaited, prepared by their culinary expert.

‘There is a salad, spaghetti with turkey meatballs, and chicken breast with lemon sauce. We help ourselves and take a seat at a small table nearby.’

Amal Clooney's diet and fitness regime has been revealed - and it's surprisingly simple if you don't mind seaweed soup for breakfast!

She allows herself the odd treat at dinner, apparently enjoying pizza night once a week with her family, with her favourite being a margherita with a side of rocket salad.

Amal’s husband George Clooney previously gave an insight into meal times in an interview alongside their private chef, Viviana Frizzi, who hails from Lake Como and has worked for the family since 2013.

‘She can make anything, including handmade gnocchi with pesto that would make you cry,’ George said.

‘Vivi cooks almost every night for us now because we have the twins. Going out isn’t as easy or as interesting as it used to be.

‘Besides all of our friends would rather eat her food than hit up a local restaurant in Como or in London.

‘Honestly, Amal and I are such poor chefs that any lesson from Vivi in the kitchen would be like teaching a whale to fly.’

When it comes to exercising Amal likes to keep fit by playing tennis, and gives George a good run for his money.

George previously revealed: ‘Amal is a really good athlete. When I was younger, I won some tennis tournaments.

‘I played a lot of sports – I still play a lot of sports, and I can actually play [well]. And Amal just beats the hell out of me.’

Amal is also rumoured to go on walks for an hour every day, lift weights for 20 minutes and do Pilates.

While Amal has managed to find balance in all aspects of life, she recently confessed that fame had left her feeling self-conscious about her career.

Speaking at a Cartier Dialogues event in Bangkok, Amal reflected on how her life changed after tying the knot with George, 65, in 2014.

Before meeting the actor, Amal had built a successful international legal career away from the spotlight, a separation she says became far harder to maintain once she became one half of one of the world’s most famous couples.

‘It was a weird phenomenon. I used to have my work life and my personal life, and they could look quite different, and I was able to not have them mix… and then I got married and that changed quite a lot,’ she said.

As the spotlight on the couple intensified – particularly after they welcomed twins Alexander and Ella, now nine, in 2017 – Amal said she initially felt overly conscious of how she was perceived in her professional life.

She admitted she worried about a ‘one-dimensional’ view of her public image.

‘And at first I was kind of conscious of that one-dimensional view where I felt like, well, I can’t be seen wearing this dress or doing this because I’m in front of a judge on Monday and I don’t want the judge to… but you know it just doesn’t matter as much as living your life,’ she added.

‘Ultimately if you’re good at what you do, that is going to shine through or not.’

Despite the pressures of public attention, Amal said she refused to let it dictate her choices or hold her back.

‘I wouldn’t allow that factor to stop me from doing things that were important for my family or for my relationship.

‘It was easier when I could decide what kind of exposure I got. It was something new to navigate.’

Police Fail to Log Abusive Call: Synagogue Incident Exposed

0

The dynamics between law enforcement and Jewish community security groups came into sharp focus as the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion concluded a significant session of its inquiry in Melbourne.

Over the course of five in-depth days, the commission delved into evidence surrounding the escalating financial demands placed on Jewish Australians for security measures, the police’s handling of antisemitic events, the portrayal of the Hamas-Israel conflict in media outlets, and preparations for future investigations into last year’s Bondi attack.

Police responses and security partnerships examined

Today’s proceedings spotlighted the interactions between law enforcement and Jewish security organizations, featuring testimonies from figures such as Liberal MP Julian Leeser, Dor Foundation CEO Tahli Blicblau, AFP Assistant Commissioner Stephen Nutt, and Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Martin O’Brien.

This collection of testimony is anticipated to guide how the commission comprehends police approaches to data collection on antisemitic offenses, evaluates security risks, and prepares for emergency responses specifically targeting Jewish communities.

Victoria Police garnered particular attention for their handling of antisemitic events. Evidence was presented regarding an offensive call to a synagogue, where congregants were slandered with terms like “genocidal” and “maggot rat Jews,” yet this was not classified as an incident motivated by prejudice.

O’Brien confirmed no incident fact sheet had been logged for the call, which is required for any prejudice-motivated crime that relates to racial, political or ideological circumstances.

O’Brien said the force had “automatic scanning” every day of incidents, along with human analysts to consider threats.

A separate incident involving a 5.5m Nazi hakenkreuz symbol painted on a construction site was also not categorised under the relevant reporting system.

Jewish leaders call for governments to fully fund community security

Security funding emerged as one of the dominant themes of the week’s hearings, with Jewish community leaders telling the commission families, schools, places of worship and community organisations continue to bear much of the cost of keeping their communities safe.

On Thursday, the commission heard government funding since 2023 has covered about half of the security costs incurred by the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, which received $25 million to distribute to community organisations, places of worship and events.

More than 160 applications seeking a combined $42 million were made that year.

Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Peter Wertheim told the inquiry governments should ideally reimburse the council for all security costs it handles, while almost 200 organisations have applied for the latest federal funding allocation of $124 million over three years.

The inquiry also heard vulnerable synagogues and Jewish organisations in Victoria had previously been unable to access some security grants because they could not meet co-contribution requirements, while NSW officials said no such requirement existed in that state’s security funding programs.

Schools and synagogues describe the impact of rising antisemitism

Community leaders fronted the commission on Wednesday, describing the growing financial and emotional toll rising antisemitism has had on Jewish Australians.

Representatives from Jewish schools told the commission parents were paying annual security levies worth millions of dollars collectively. Bialik College in Melbourne charged an $840 security levy per student this year, while Melbourne’s Mount Scopus Memorial College charged $1,130 per student in 2025.

The inquiry heard security costs at Bialik College had increased by 230 per cent since 2022, with some parents volunteering alongside armed guards to help protect students during school drop-off and pick-up.

Earlier in the week, faith leaders also described the lasting trauma following the firebombing of Melbourne’s Adass Israel Synagogue, with the commission hearing the synagogue had unsuccessfully sought government funding to improve security before the December 2024 attack.

Witnesses also described the social impacts of antisemitism, telling the inquiry some Jewish children had been excluded from birthday parties and social media groups, while families felt less comfortable openly expressing their faith and culture. Progressive synagogues also reported bomb threats and declining preschool enrolments.

Bondi attack a key focus

Earlier in the week, concerns emerged the commission could miss potentially significant evidence relating to last year’s Bondi terror attack after a former source for Australia’s intelligence agency, known as Marcus, was denied a visa to travel to Australia.

Marcus said he warned the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation about the father-and-son gunmen behind the attack years before the shooting. The commission has said the information he outlined “clearly and directly engages” its terms of reference, but stopped short of intervening in his visa application.

Instead, it said it remained eager to find a practical way to receive his evidence or take a statement from him.

Separately, more than a dozen eyewitnesses and survivors of the Bondi attack were granted anonymity this week after a court extended suppression orders to protect their identities and reduce the risk of re-traumatisation and threats to their safety.

What happens next?

Hearing block five wrapped up in Melbourne on Friday, with the commission announcing protests and police responses will come under scrutiny during a future hearing block in August.

The inquiry will next move to Sydney, where hearing block 6 will run from Tuesday 28 July to Friday 31 July.

It will examine guidance, training and frameworks for responding to antisemitic conduct across different sectors, including how government agencies and institutions can better prevent and respond to manifestations of antisemitism.

Governor Accuses Activists of Fomenting Division in Nolan Wells Case Amid FBI Threat Investigation

0

MISSISSIPPI – A wave of threats targeting individuals connected to the final moments of Nolan Wells’ life has prompted the FBI to launch a full-scale investigation, according to a leading state law enforcement official. The Mississippi teen’s disappearance and untimely death have drawn widespread attention and concern.

Eighteen-year-old Wells mysteriously vanished on July 4th during a boating excursion with friends to Horn Island, situated off the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Authorities dedicated two intense days to search operations before a ranger from the National Park Service discovered Wells’ body on the remote island’s northwestern edge on July 6th.

Sean Tindell, Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, announced on Wednesday that the FBI is focusing on threats made against government officials, individuals who were with Wells shortly before his disappearance, and their families. Tindell discussed the developments while speaking with Magnolia Tribune’s Founder and CEO Russ Latino during an episode of “The Sit Down” on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.

“State law enforcement and the FBI will undoubtedly scrutinize these threats,” emphasized Tindell. “Threatening public officials, potential witnesses, and those involved in this investigation, including the family, constitutes a criminal offense, and authorities intend to address it with utmost seriousness.”

Tindell said “false information” shared about Wells’ death has incited “rage and emotion” that has led to a higher level of calls coming into his office, some of which are “direct threats.” Tindell said he believes Wells’ mother, Christine Wonsley, has also received threats.

“I can tell you, the FBI has reached out. They’re working in any capacity. They’ve offered a hand, in this case, to do anything that that’s needed from their end. But they’re also taking a serious look, at some of these threats that have come across, to public officials, to witnesses to the family, to anybody involved in this case,” Tindell said.

The warning from one of Mississippi’s top public safety officials comes as national attention on the case has reached a fever pitch, with Rep. André Carson, D-Ind., accusing officials in Mississippi of not being transparent.

“Not only are [Nolan Wells’ family] suffering the unimaginable grief of losing a child, they’re not getting the truth, transparency, or accountability. Mississippi officials retained some of Nolan’s body parts, so yesterday’s independent autopsy leaves more questions unanswered,” Carson said.

As the speculation has grown, Mississippi’s top elected officials have begun pushing back publicly.

Republican Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves told News Media in a statement that attorney Ben Crump and Al Sharpton are responsible for inciting the threats.

“Ben Crump and Al Sharpton are to blame for the threats. They are stoking division for personal gain. It’s sad to see, but not unexpected. This is how they’ve built their careers,” Reeves said. “Jackson County law enforcement, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, and the State Medical Examiner are conducting a thorough investigation. I’m confident they will follow the facts of the case, wherever that leads them. The state’s top prosecutor is also drawing a hard line.”

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch told News Media in a statement that her office will hold accountable anyone who threatens law enforcement working the case.

“I am proud of the professionalism with which our law enforcement, district attorney, and other local leaders are approaching this tragic case. During an open investigation, it is vital to the cause of justice that everyone respect the integrity of the process. Efforts to intimidate, disrupt, or interfere with the work of our law enforcement and prosecutors and threats to their well-being will be taken seriously and we will hold those who make them accountable. A bright young life has been lost and we extend our prayers to his family,” Fitch said.

During Wednesday’s news conference, Crump revealed that an area of “red discoloration” was found on Wells’ head, but said Dr. Roger Mitchell, who performed the autopsy, couldn’t come to a conclusion on a cause or manner of death “pending further investigation.” An official autopsy into Wells’ death hasn’t been completed, but the revelation from Crump fueled even more speculation.

Wells’ friends returned to the mainland that July afternoon without him, but Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter previously said investigators believe Wells chose to stay on the island. It wasn’t until later that night that his mother learned he was missing from one of Wells’ friends and reported it to authorities.

News Media has reached out to Crump, Sharpton and the FBI for comment.

Controversy Erupts in Long Island: All-Boy Muslim Boarding School Sparks Outrage in Residential Community

0

A storm is brewing in a Long Island community as residents rally against the establishment of a new Muslim boarding school. The school, intended to accommodate 120 teenage boys, has sparked concerns that it could disrupt the tranquil ambiance of the suburban area.

Bay Shore homeowners are challenging the legitimacy of the plans, arguing that the proposed facility violates the zoning regulations for Saxon Avenue. The 13-acre site previously served as a Catholic seminary but now faces transformation into an overnight dormitory.

Kevin Colgan, a resident of Islip and leading voice of the “Saxon Says No” group, has vocalized the neighborhood’s concerns. “The proposed use by the new property owner far exceeds what is suitable for a quiet residential neighborhood,” Colgan stated, emphasizing the community’s fear of an inappropriate intensification of land use.

Colgan clarified that the battle is not against any person or faith, but a stand for the preservation of zoning integrity. “Zoning laws are crucial to maintaining the character, integrity, and quality of life in our neighborhoods, ensuring that land uses fit harmoniously with their surroundings,” he asserted.

The opposition is urging Islip’s Zoning Board of Appeals to reject the development plans for the property, which changed hands in June. Residents hope the board will heed their plea and keep the neighborhood’s peace intact.

The United American Muslim Association, a group partly based out of the Suleymaniye mosque in Dix Hills, scooped up the sprawling property from the Roman Catholic Montfort Missionaries for $5 million.

At Tuesday’s zoning board meeting, several members of the board signaled that they think the proposed dorm is legal under town law. The meeting lasted more than five hours as hundreds of angry residents packed Town Hall.

“When my family chose to purchase this home 10 years ago — we relied on the zoning protections when making one of the largest investments of our lives — a community of single-family homes where the zoning was intended to preserve its residential character,” said Anna Chan, who lives across the street from the proposed school.

Locals speaking at the meeting said they felt the school’s opening would hurt the integrity of the neighborhood, and that their residential area is no place for a school of this scale.

Most complaints centered around their belief that a boarding school, regardless of any religious affiliation, shouldn’t be opened in a residential neighborhood as it would cause an increase in noise and create traffic jams, as other residents had unanswered questions regarding a daycare center for small children that would be opening with the proposed school.

“A boarding school with the noise that 120 teenage boys can generate in a recreational area — would you want that in your backyard?” asked Isla Belkitis, who lives near the site.

Supporters of the school, along with attorney Samuel L. Bifulco, who represents The United American Muslim Association, said the proposal under town code is perfectly legal, and that strict rules on the students would keep them from causing a nuisance.

The nonprofit’s goal, he said, is to open a school on the shuttered property to provide a “comprehensive spiritual and academic training of its students,” including full-time Islamic-centered schooling, early childhood education and community programs.

Mother Vows Revelation After Daughter’s Tragic Shooting in Million-Dollar Home

0

In the wake of a tragic incident, a heartbroken mother has issued a stark declaration: “the truth will come out.” This follows the discovery of her 18-year-old daughter’s body in a high-profile setting—a residence tied to a prominent political figure’s family.

On a somber Saturday afternoon, the lifeless body of Yoseliani Marte was uncovered by authorities within the confines of a million-dollar estate nestled in Boston. The property, valued at $1.15 million, is owned by Conan Harris, the spouse of Massachusetts Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, though neither is reported to reside there.

The tragic demise of Marte, concluded by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, was caused by a single gunshot wound. However, as reported by Boston25News, the circumstances surrounding her death remain under rigorous investigation.

Elenie Ocasio, Marte’s devastated mother, stands firm in her conviction that her daughter was not suicidal, asserting instead that she fell victim to murder.

“My daughter did not deserve this, and it’s all going to come out to light,” Ocasio passionately expressed to the press. “Everything’s gonna come out.”

As of Thursday, Boston authorities had not announced any arrests or charges in connection to Marte’s death.

Marte was living at home in Dorchester, the largest neighborhood in Boston, but visiting a boyfriend on the day she died, her family told WCVB.

Ocasio said that she was still in ‘shock’ at her daughter’s death inside the eight–bedroom, four–bathroom house in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood.

‘You look at me right now, and I’m not shedding tears,’ she told Boston25News.

The mother added that she still had ‘not seen my baby,’ as she continued looking for answers.

‘I have not seen her laid out yet,’ Ocasio said. ‘It has not hit me yet. I’m not grieving yet.’

She also asked why no one had called her or 911 in relation to her daughter’s death.

In a GoFundMe fundraiser, Ocasio wrote that her daughter ‘tragically lost her life at just 18 years old.’

As of Thursday night, the fundraiser had raised about $16,700 of an initial $18,000 goal.

Boston police had received a call to ‘investigate a person’ but discovered Marte’s body inside the property upon arrival, Officer James Moccia previously told the Daily Mail.

Marte’s death was being investigated by the Boston police’s Homicide Unit, according to Moccia.

While the house she died in is owned by Harris, he and his wife Pressley do not live there.

Harris purchased the house for $340,000 in 2021, and the property was listed for $1.15million last month.

Pressley addressed Marte’s death on her X account on Tuesday, calling what happened a tragedy.

‘I am devastated about the death of Yoseliani Marte, an 18–year–old with so many dreams ahead of her, her life cut short by domestic violence,’ Pressley wrote.

She added: ‘As the parent of a teenager, the thought of a young person violently losing their life in this way is beyond crushing.’

The cause of Marte’s death has not yet been confirmed by the chief medical examiner’s office, and they have not concluded that it was domestic violence.

A spokesperson for Pressley’s office said that the neither the Democratic lawmaker nor her family were involved in the fatal incident, WVLT reported.

On Tuesday, Pressley said on X that she was 'devastated' about Marte's death, adding that her life had been 'cut short by domestic violence'

A public obituary for Marte recalled her as a ‘beautiful soul whose kindness, warmth, and vibrant spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.’

She was survived by her mother, Elenie Ocasio, and her father, Jose Marte, as well as five siblings.

‘Her memory will forever live on through the stories, laughter, and unconditional love she leaves behind,’ the obit read.

Heartfelt Reunions and Hardships: RHOC Delivers Emotional Apologies and Family Struggles

RHOC Recap: Jenn Worries About the Impact of Her Divorce; Teddi Makes a Cameo; Plus, Vicki Guides a Tres Amigas Reconciliation

In the latest installment of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki is on a mission to reunite the tres amigas. Meanwhile, Jenn has a heartfelt conversation with her son and confronts the deep impact her divorce has had on him, as Heather navigates the complexities of group dynamics and friendship.

Tamra is preparing for a new chapter as her daughter, Sophia, gains independence and moves out. After decades of parenting, Tamra reflects on her journey of raising kids for 40 years and looks forward to spending more time nurturing her relationship with Eddie.

Emily opens up about her recent weight loss, proudly sharing that she has shed 40 pounds in just nine months. This milestone comes after a challenging year of weight gain linked to her concerns for her son, Luke. Embracing a healthier lifestyle, Emily teams up with Shannon to visit the renowned Dr. Tim, the chiropractor, who puts them through their paces.

Emily believed she had come to a resolution with Tamra, only for Tamra to comment, “now I can tell iHeart that” Emily is available for events. It was quite the strategic move.

Whilst moving her daughter into her new place, Tamra shares that Vicki really wants the tres amigas back in action. Vicki is doing her best to act as mediator, and so she invites Shannon to a lunch with Tamra.  Shannon is not sure how to move forward with Tamra, yet again, but Tamra feels like Shannon just wants her to be the villain in her story.

Jenn and her fiance Ryan chat about their blended families, but Jenn feels like things with her son, Greyson, have been different lately. Ryan feels like her son simply wants a better relationship with his dad, but Jenn explains that she is trying to compensate for all that they have lost. Because Jenn’s husband is not involved, it does put a strain on their relationship.

Heather chats with Emily about her birthday party and shares that she is “bummed” with Jenn.  Heather does not feel like Jenn is malicious, but her constant changing of tone and context causes Heather to question their friendship.  Emily goes on to share that Carmella gave her a gold Dior clutch, but wonders if Carmella’s intent was to show the rest of the women she is a baller with money. “Can a friendship be bought with a designer bag?” Yep…but there was also a vibrator in the giftbag as well. Weird.

Vicki meets with Gina and Jenn for some brunch. Gina explains that she was not even thinking about a prenup and she asks Vicki’s financial advice on what she should do. Vicki states that she will never co-mingle money with her boyfriend AND that he has said he has a ring for her.

No one can understand why Vicki is in the middle of Shannon and Tamra, but alas, she is ready to try and lead the charge to get the group back together.  Vicki wants Tamra to stop attacking Shannon and Vicki admits that when Tamra gets in that zone, it makes her anxious and scared.

Carmella and her daughters chat about the vibrators in the Amazon cart.  Carmella claims the vibrator to Emily was merely a gag gift, but it DID fit inside the Dior bag. Being in Play Boy was a wake-up call for Carmella’s self-awareness and so now she is ultra-cautious when it comes to her kids.

Emily is in the midst of helping Jenn clean out her closet. As they do this, they chat about the kids. Jenn seems very concerned about her son Greyson, considering she feels as though he is withdrawing from things.  Emily understands this because she admits to losing a connection with Annabelle due to the focus being all on her son, Luke.

Tamra pays a visit to Teddi’s house because Teddi has now turned a corner and is now doing better. Tamra explains that Teddi is one strong woman, but even though she is struggling with her own battle, she checks in on Tamra and her issues.  Tamra becomes emotional explaining that she feels as though the women in the group just don’t care about her.  Tamra realizes that at the end of the day, life is short and the fighting needs to end.

Gina and Travis head out for date night.  Gina fills Travis in on Carmella, the developer with a real estate license. Gina admits that she is not completely clear on what Carmella does, but she is interested.  Regarding a prenup, Gina simply wants to protect herself and her kids. She also brings up the topic of changing her last name.  Gina would prefer to keep her last name so she can stay connected with her children.

Jenn checks in with Greyson, who admits that things have been hard lately. He becomes emotional about the situation with his parents because it’s still impacting everything he does every day.  Greyson does not see his dad and Jenn understands that the decision SHE made has truly affected him.  Greyson goes on to share that people are being unkind to him and Jenn cries that she is doing the best that she can.  If only things were easier…

The Quiet Woman is not always the most quiet place, but Vicki is using this restaurant as the scene of the (hopeful) reconciliation for Shannon and Tamra. Tamra tries out how she plans on fixing things with Shannon, but she refuses to apologize to Shannon about anything.

Once Shannon arrives, things are…awkward. The silence is deafening because neither Tamra nor Shannon want to make the first move. Tamra eventually explains that she would like to move forward with Shannon, but Shannon points out that Tamra called her a drunk who will never get a man.

Tamra DOES apologize for saying that, but…points out that Shannon gets on lives claiming it was a “gift” to film with her. Shannon tries to brush things under the rug nowadays and feels like Tamra is being very hypocritical.  She points out that Tamra said that nasty thing to Emily about iHeart and that it was NOT a joke.  Tamra is frustrated because “you guys” hold onto every little thing. Vicki calls her friends family and reminds Shannon that Tamra has a spit fire personality. Nothing can be THAT bad that they can’t move on.

After much ado, Tamra “sincerely” apologizes and wishes to simply be around Shannon in a happy place.  Shannon is willing to move forward and laugh…and just like that, the tres amigas are reunited and it feels so gooooood!  Thank you, Quiet Woman!

Patrick Kane rejoins Blackhawks: 2-Year Deal Sparks Excitement

0

CHICAGO (WLS) — In an exciting turn of events for hockey enthusiasts, Patrick Kane is making his triumphant return to the Chicago Blackhawks, as officially announced by the team on Thursday.

The contract reveals Kane’s commitment to a two-year term with the Blackhawks, marked by a salary cap hit of $8 million. Over a remarkable 16-season career with the team, Kane has been pivotal in securing three Stanley Cup victories for Chicago.

Hawks legend and former broadcaster Eddie Olczyk spoke on the return of Patrick Kane Thursday.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Kane’s storied journey with the Blackhawks began when he was selected as the first overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft. That significant year marked the start of his career, alongside fellow rookie Jonathan Toews.

The Blackhawks traded Kane to the New York Rangers during the 2022-23 season. For the past three seasons, he showcased his skills with the Detroit Red Wings.

Throughout his illustrious career with the Blackhawks, the dynamic winger has scored an impressive 446 goals and contributed 779 assists. With a striking total of 1,225 points, Kane stands proudly as the second-highest scorer in the team’s history, trailing only the legendary Stan Mikita and his 1,467 points.

In addition to three Stanley Cups, Kane individually has won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s MVP in 2016, along with the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s leading scorer, the Conn Smythe Trophy, the playoff MVP, in 2013 and the Calder Trophy as the NHL rookie of the year in 2008.

Blackhawks fans expressed excitement Thursday after learning that Patrick Kane is returning to the team on a two-year deal, a move many hope will reunite a franchise icon with a new generation of talent led by Connor Bedard.

The news prompted enthusiasm among fans at the United Center, with some anticipating increased demand for tickets and season-ticket packages as Kane returns to the organization where he became a fan favorite and a key figure in the team’s championship years.

“Just nostalgia, it takes us back to when we had the dynasty, winning Stanley cups, seeing showtime celebrations. The crowd going electric and all that is coming back,” said Adam Story, a season-ticket holder.

Kane’s No. 88 jersey remains popular among fans, including younger hockey players who said they grew up watching him and modeling their game after his style of play.

“I’m really excited because I grew up watching him. I’m from the city; so it’s nice to see him come back because he’s one of the players I looked up to growing up,” said Helen Lane, a young hockey player.

Fans also said they believe Kane’s experience could benefit a roster filled with young talent.

“He’s gonna bring the history of Stanley cup victories. He’s gonna tell them what this stadium is like when the Blackhawks are doing well, the old intangibles. It’s gonna be a very positive effect. I’m very excited,” said lifelong fan Tom McMahon. “I just have to talk my wife into it.”

The excitement has also extended to ticket sales, with fans already planning for Kane’s return to the United Center this fall.

“Already asking for more tickets for the home opener now to bring more family and friends,” one fan said.

The Blackhawks’ home opener is scheduled for Oct. 6 against the St. Louis Blues. Ticket prices were already approaching $200 for the lowest-priced seats on some third-party ticket sites.

Christopher Nolan’s Odysseus: A Modern Hero for Our Times

Was Odysseus, the iconic Greek hero from ancient lore, perhaps not as valiant as we’ve been led to believe?

Critics have taken aim at Christopher Nolan’s latest epic, “The Odyssey,” particularly for his interpretation of the legendary protagonist.

In Homer’s timeless narrative, Odysseus is portrayed as a cunning and versatile hero, credited with devising the ingenious Trojan horse strategy. After the Greeks claim victory in their prolonged war with Troy, Odysseus embarks on a perilous and lengthy voyage back to Ithaca, where his faithful wife Penelope awaits his return.

Nolan, however, has infused Odysseus with modern sensibilities to resonate with today’s audiences, but was there any choice?

Had Nolan embraced a strictly Homeric portrayal — featuring Odysseus as a character involved in kidnapping women, killing defenseless individuals, engaging with nymphs, and commanding harsh punishments on housemaids — it’s unlikely audiences would flock to theaters for a three-hour saga of such controversial adventures.

The values of Bronze Age Greece, when Odysseus was supposedly fighting and maneuvering his way home, were emphatically not our own.

So, Nolan had to soften him.

But he went too far in this direction, giving us an Odysseus who is wracked by war guilt and suffering from PTSD.

In the Homeric version, his long stay with the beautiful nymph Calypso underlines how desperate he is to get home — she offers him a life of endless pleasure, and still he pines for Ithaca.

In the Nolan version, Calypso serves as the hero’s therapist, and it emerges that he truly doesn’t want to go home until he works through all his dark memories.

If this is a bit much, there’s no doubt that Nolan is drawing on elements of the original.

Homer has Odysseus weeping when he hears songs of the Trojan war, a wrenching depiction of his sense of grief and loss.

This isn’t all: Nolan leaves it out of the movie, but in Homer’s telling Achilles, the Greeks’ greatest warrior, meets Odysseus in Hades and tells him he regrets having chosen a short life full of glory.

After all the obsession with military fame, it would have been better to sell insurance!

There have been many different literary depictions of Odysseus over the years.

Since he wasn’t a real person, none of them should be binding.

The likes of Sophocles and Euripides gave us negative portrayals, and Dante put him in the Eighth Circle of Hell for his deceptive tactic with the Trojan Horse — a major source of his guilt in the Nolan version, as well.

Ultimately, the director renders a Christianized version of the pagan epic.

Having sinned, Odysseus needs to repent and seek forgiveness.

The movie is more evidence for the proposition that, even in our secular age, our notions of what constitute morality — and admirable conduct — rest on a Christian edifice.

I found the Nolan movie gripping, despite some of its flaws, and at the very end, even inspiring.

For the finale, Nolan seems to draw on the depiction of Odysseus in the Alfred Tennyson poem “Ulysses” (another name for Odysseus).

The British poet renders an Odysseus who feels compelled always to learn and experience more, as he sets out on another journey after his return to Ithaca.

Odysseus and Penelope in the movie almost directly quote Tennyson when Ulysses speaks of following “knowledge like a sinking star, / Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.”

In this, Odysseus is the very embodiment of the questing, endlessly curious spirit of Western culture that has forged so many new discoveries and transformed the human condition.

Tennyson’s Ulysses believes, “’tis not too late to seek a newer world,” and “to sail beyond the sunset.”

He ends with a ringing commitment “to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”

The most fevered critics of the movie on the right suggest that Christopher Nolan seeks to subvert the Western tradition.

If so, the director — who has renewed interest in a Western classic and ends with a paean to the Western zest for exploration — has a funny way of going about it.

Richard Gere’s Wife Confidently Supports His Exciting New Role: ‘She Knows Who She’s Married To

Richard Gere is set to star alongside Diana Silvers in Edward Zwick’s upcoming film “Asymmetry,” but the buzz surrounding the project isn’t causing tremors at home. Gere’s wife, Alejandra Silva, remains unfazed despite the movie’s storyline centering on a fiery romance between a seasoned author, played by Gere, and his youthful editorial assistant, portrayed by Silvers. The film, inspired by the novel of the same name, promises intense and intimate moments between the leads. Nevertheless, Silva stands by Gere with unwavering pride after eight years of marriage.

According to a source who spoke with Closer Weekly, Silva is ecstatic about Gere embracing this exciting new role. “Alejandra is thrilled that Richard is getting the chance to work on this exciting project. She isn’t the least bit threatened, if anything, she’s proud of him,” the insider shared. Though the onscreen chemistry between Gere and Silvers might seem palpable, Silva views it strictly as a testament to their acting skills. “She knows exactly who she’s married to,” the source continued, “and she trusts him completely, so any talk about her being jealous is just talk.” Having formerly been married to Carey Lowell, Gere appears to fulfill his professional commitments without risking marital discord.

Richard and Alejandra’s age-gap didn’t keep them apart

Like many age-gap stories, “Asymmetry” is already facing its fair share of criticism. Richard Gere is 76 years old, while his on-screen love interest, Diana Silvers, is only 28. When the behind-the-scenes footage made its way online, TikTok users had a lot to say. One commented, “That’s ridiculous. It literally looks like a grandfather with his granddaughter. Another commenter shared the same sentiment, saying, “I wanna be sick! He’s 50 years older than her. Why are we pushing this.”

The film draws from Lisa Halliday’s critically acclaimed 2018 novel, which itself was partly inspired by her real-life romance with older author Philip Roth. Interestingly, Gere himself can relate to the narrative, as he shares a significant age difference with his wife, Silva. Gere is 34 years Silva’s senior, but that hasn’t dampened their love story. Their journey together began nearly a decade before they started dating. Silva reminisced in an interview with Hola! (via People) about the instant connection they felt upon meeting. “Our karma was attracted the moment we saw each other. I’m not ignoring our age difference and what it means to be with a Hollywood star, but when there’s such a strong karmic energy, the problems disappear,” she said.

Courtroom Drama: Emotional Testimony Overwhelms Celeste Rivas’s Mother

In a heart-wrenching moment in court on Thursday, the mother of a 14-year-old girl who was found brutally dismembered in the trunk of singer D4vd’s Tesla last year broke down in tears. Despite the emotional scene unfolding around him, the singer remained unemotional.

Real name David Burke, the artist faces severe accusations, including first-degree murder, sustained sexual abuse of a minor below 14, and illegally mutilating a body, all tied to the tragic death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

According to the prosecution, after stabbing the teen to death, Burke dismembered her in his garage, allegedly driven by her threats to expose their illicit relationship and jeopardize his career.

Burke, aged 21, has entered a plea of not guilty to all charges, with his legal team committed to a rigorous defense strategy.

During Thursday’s session of the preliminary hearing—aimed at assessing if the evidence justifies a trial—Celeste’s mother was visibly overcome with emotion, needing tissues as the drama unfolded, according to a report by TMZ.

The emotional outburst came as a Los Angeles police criminalist detailed how blood stains in the garage of the singer’s Hollywood home were a strong DNA match for the young girl.

Hernandez’s parents then wound up having to leave the hearing early, before a Los Angeles Medical Examiner started to testify.

Meanwhile, the singer sat emotionless during the testimony – but was also seen smiling, nodding and casually speaking to his attorneys, Marilyn Bednarski and Blair Berk, as the hearing continued, according to Los Angeles Magazine.

Hernandez’s remains had been found in the front trunk of Burke’s Tesla on September 8, as it sat in an impound lot.

Disturbing images previously displayed in court showed Hernandez’s bloody head and torso inside a body bag in the trunk, as well as her severed arms and legs in a garbage bag underneath it.

When authorities then learned the vehicle belonged to the singer, police technicians took samples from apparent blood stains on a rubber floor mat, a rowing machine and a Tesla charger in the garage.

Matches of several of those samples were ‘one septillion times more likely to occur if it originated from Celeste rather than anyone else in the population,’ criminalist Samantha Tosch testified on Thursday – pointing out that the number had 24 zeroes.

Testing was also done on a trash bag in the garage and stained cleaning wipes inside it that had tested positive for the presence of blood, Rolling Stone reports.

Tosch said the bag swab showed a mixture of DNA from four people, at least two of whom were male – including one she said was Burke’s.

Hernandez’s DNA was also found on the wipes but not the bag, while Burke’s DNA was not found on the wipes.

Another police criminalist testified that most of the garage stains were not visible to the naked eye and were uncovered by a chemical test that makes the area glow blue. A photo displayed in court showed the rubber mat cloaked in bright blue.

But under cross examination, Tosch conceded that she couldn’t say with certainty that the DNA profiles came from blood, and could’ve been from touch.

Tosch also acknowledged that it can’t be determined how DNA got on a spot, and that it’s even possible for it to transfer between people.

The criminalist further admitted there’s no way to clearly establish how long the DNA had been there.

Defense attorney Blair Berk asked Tosch about the software the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) uses – which she suggested calculated only the likelihood that Burke’s DNA was present in the mixture from four people.

‘It’s not saying David Burke’s DNA was definitively found in the mixture,’ the lawyer argued.

Tosch then agreed that it was a ‘fair’ assessment, but it remained her professional opinion that the singer’s DNA was present on the outer trash bag.

Burke’s lawyers have previously given little indication of any counternarrative they may present about how Hernandez was killed and how her dismembered body came to be found inside the trunk of Burke’s Tesla about five months later.

But they began giving glimpses into their defense strategy as they pressed various prosecution witnesses on why they didn’t conduct more DNA testing on items found in the singer’s home and car.

Berk dwelled on a pair of small chain saws found in Burke’s garage, where prosecutors say he dismembered the body. Lauren Wallace, another LAPD criminalist, testified that initial chemical tests showed no signs of blood on the saws, so the handles were not swabbed for any DNA left behind by someone who touched them.

‘If an item has somebody else’s DNA on it, you wouldn´t be able to see that at the time,’ Berk said.

‘No you’re not able to see touch DNA,’ Wallace admitted before reiterating that the blades had tested negative for blood.

‘But that doesn´t preclude at all that there could be somebody else’s touch DNA,’ Berk noted.

Prosecutors have claimed Burke began a sexual relationship with Hernandez when she was just 13 years old and he was 18 in November 2023.

When she then went missing that year, Hernandez’s mother told police her daughter was dating a guy she had never met, named David.

Authorities then questioned Burke about his relationship with the teenager, to which he said he believed Hernandez was 18 because ‘she told me she was 18,’ LA County Sheriff’s Senior Deputy Juan Gonzalez testified on Tuesday.

The singer then allegedly shared Hernandez’s phone number with the deputies and showed them photos from his phone of her yearbook picture.

When Hernandez later returned home, her family took her phone away.

But prosecutors say Burke continued to pursue her – even paying a junior high school student in her class $1,000 so that the classmate could get Hernandez a new phone.

‘Throughout 2024, the victim spent a significant amount of time with defendant, including summer weekends at his home in the Hollywood Hills and traveling with him to Las Vegas, London, and Texas to meet his family,’ they alleged in court documents.

‘Text exchanges between the victim and defendant contain references to sex, pregnancy, abortion and use of the Plan B emergency contraceptive.’

Prosecutors further alleged that they broke up in November 2024, but they continued to communicate.

After they then broke up again last April, the teenager became jealous over Burke’s relationship with other women, the preliminary trial brief claims.

Hernandez then ‘threatened to disclose damaging information about her relationship with defendant to end his career and destroy his life,’ the documents state.

At that time, prosecutors say, Burke was set to release his first solo album and had a multimillion-dollar career at stake.

With that allegedly on his mind, Burke sent an Uber to pick Rivas Hernandez up at her home in Lake Elsinore, California, at around 8.40pm on April 23 last year, and she was dropped off at the home he was renting in Hollywood Hills at around 10.10pm.

That is when he allegedly killed the teenager.

Prosecutors say he then kept the body for weeks or months in the front trunk of the Tesla, where it was found after the car was towed four and a half months later while the singer was on tour promoting his debut album.
