Celebrate Bananya’s 10th Anniversary: Stream All 39 Episodes Free on YouTube Now!

0

A decade ago, the production house Gathering brought a unique concept to the anime scene with the introduction of “Bananya,” an endearing cat that makes its home inside a banana peel. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of this beloved character, TMS Entertainment USA is set to expand access to the widely cherished TV series featuring the whimsical feline.

In honor of this milestone, TMS Entertainment has unveiled a special 10th-anniversary logo for the “Bananya” series, which fans can view below.

As detailed in a recent press release, TMS recently announced that it will release the English-dubbed episodes of all Bananya from Seasons 1-3, consisting of 39 three-minute anime shorts. An official watch party for Season 1 will be hosted on the “Anime! on TMS” YouTube channel on April 18, 2026. A second watch party for Bananya Season 2 has also been scheduled for May 2026.

Launched in 2016, the “Bananya” series follows the whimsical escapades of the titular character alongside his vibrant group of friends. According to the official website, Bananya is described as a creature that masquerades as an ordinary banana. When unobserved, it indulges in playful antics and mischief. The adorable character has a fondness for sweets and aspires to transform into a “stylish choco bananya.” The series also features other beloved characters, such as Bananyako, a fashionable “Madonna” with a love for style, and Kurobananya, a gourmet gentleman hailing from Europe.

Initially released in 2016, the Bananya series chronicles the daily adventures of the titular character and his colorful companions. Bananya’s official site describes the concept: “[Bananya] lives disguised as a real banana, and when no one’s around, it sneaks around playing and causing mischief. It loves playing with sweet treats, and its dream is to become a ‘stylish choco bananya.’” Other central characters include Bananyako, a fluffy “Madonna” who loves fashion and a gentlemanly gourmet from Europe named Kurobananya.

Despite fierce competition from the likes of Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll, the Bananya franchise has successfully “slipped into the hearts” of fans worldwide. Season 1 of the Bananya anime series initially debuted in 2016. A second season, titled Bananya and the Curious Bunch, was released in 2019. Season 3, titled Bananya Around the World, hit the airwaves in 2024. The English dub for Season 3 has not yet been released and is scheduled to debut in June 2026.

Notably, the Bananya anime series has few official streaming homes for viewers outside Japan. Crunchyroll has made the original Japanese version of the series available (with subtitles) to subscribers in all major territories outside Asia. Alternatively, Hulu streams the English-dubbed version.

However, access to the streaming service is primarily limited to viewers located in the U.S. By hosting Bananya‘s dub on YouTube, TMS is able to reach English-speaking audiences in areas such as Australia and the UK, which lack access to Hulu’s expansive anime library.

Bananya‘s YouTube debut is just one of several major anniversary initiatives for the beloved fruit-dwelling feline. Masami Tokunaga, Senior Vice President of TMS Entertainment USA, hints that there is much more to come. “We are excited to celebrate Bananya‘s 10th anniversary this year. It has been a whole decade since the launch of the Bananya anime series…please stay tuned for more exciting Bananya news and updates, and let’s make this a memorable 10th anniversary together!”

According to TMS’ press release, Bananya‘s anniversary celebration will include various “merchandise, events and other celebratory projects.” Additionally, TMS Entertainment has confirmed the production of a new Bananya episode that will highlight “fan-favorite characters and delightful new adventures.” The release date of this commemorative episode has yet to be announced.

Season 1 of Bananya is slated to premiere on YouTube on April 18, 2026. The original Japanese-language version of Bananya is streaming on Crunchyroll. The English-dubbed version is available on Hulu.

K. Michelle Faces Pre-Show Struggle as Butt Injection Complications Arise

0

In a preview of the next episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” K. Michelle opens up about a harrowing incident when her illegal silicone butt injections began leaking just before she was set to perform. The singer underwent an extensive two-hour surgery to remove infected tissue, yet she acknowledges that the silicone will remain in her body indefinitely. Despite this challenging situation, K. Michelle is resolute in her decision to move forward.

K. Michelle Breaks Down: Butt Injections Leak Before Show Crisis

Shocking Pre-Performance Panic at 2025 ACM Honors

The frightening experience occurred moments before her performance at the 2025 ACM Honors. K. Michelle, still in her bathrobe, had her team frantically blow-drying her buttocks to prepare her for the stage. However, doctors discovered an “opening” from a previous surgery that signaled an infection, bringing everything to a halt. This revelation led to an emotional breakdown for K. Michelle as she reflected on the decision she made back in 2012. Her experience, captured by “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cameras, sheds light on the hidden dangers associated with black-market cosmetic enhancements.

This was not an isolated incident for K. Michelle, who had already endured nearly a decade of medical procedures, including blood transfusions. However, this particular leak necessitated immediate medical intervention, transforming what was meant to be a glamorous event into an urgent health crisis.

Why Illegal Silicone Injections Cause Lasting Damage

The illegal silicone injections, known for expanding significantly by absorbing bodily fluids, can cause severe deformities, pain, and even migration to other parts of the body. K. Michelle clarified that the real issue stemmed not from her Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) but from the silicone shots, which had spread to her legs and caused migraines, fatigue, and severe back pain.

Statistics reveal a concerning trend. According to the FDA, since 2010, over 1,000 adverse events have been reported related to illegal butt injections. In severe cases, the migration of silicone can lead to organ failure or even death. In a poignant confessional, K. Michelle shared a sobering reality: no surgery can completely remove the silicone. “It will be forever in me. I will never be fully healed,” she stated, offering a stark warning to anyone considering such risky shortcuts.

K. Michelle’s Decade-Long Battle and Surgery Details

Her journey began with unauthorized 2012 injections, sparking years of corrective ops. By 2022, she chronicled it in Lifetime’s My Killer Body with K. Michelle, exposing the industry’s underbelly. This latest two-hour procedure targeted infected tissue, but the silicone persists, a permanent resident defying removal.

Consider similar cases: patients like her face chronic inflammation, with studies showing 20-30% developing autoimmune issues from silicone granulomas. That resilience? It’s her edge. Post-op, she vows to push ahead, channeling pain into purpose on RHOA season 17, airing Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.

Key Lessons from K. Michelle’s Silicone Nightmare

  • Prioritize board-certified surgeons: Black-market ops skip safety checks, unlike FDA-approved implants or fat transfers with 95% lower complication rates.

  • Spot red flags early: Leaking, unexplained pain, or swelling demand immediate ER visits; delays amplify risks like sepsis.

  • Seek mental health support: Body image pressures fuel 70% of illicit procedures, per ASPS data. Therapy aids lasting confidence without scalpels.

K. Michelle on The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Her candor educates, urging caution in a $15 billion cosmetic industry rife with shortcuts. K. Michelle emerges stronger, proving survival shapes the best anthems. Tune in April 19 for the full episode.

Brad Underwood Leads Inspiring Annual Kickin’ Cancer Event

GIFFORD, Ill. – A sea of enthusiastic Illini fans descended upon Gordyville USA in Gifford, Illinois, on Wednesday, gathering for an inspiring cause. The event, orchestrated to support Coaches vs. Cancer and The American Cancer Society, drew thousands of participants eager to contribute.

The highlight of the evening was the annual Kickin’ Cancer event, hosted by Illinois head men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood. The gathering featured an engaging mix of activities, including a live auction and a silent auction, all aimed at fundraising for cancer research and support.

Traditionally, this event boasts special guests from various Division I basketball programs across the nation. However, this year took a celebratory turn as the spotlight shone on the Illini men’s basketball squad. The players, who made an impressive run to the Final Four in the 2025-26 season, were the stars of the night, sharing their journey and achievements with the crowd.

Adding to the excitement, three players from the Illinois team took the opportunity to announce their intentions to return for the 2026-27 season, much to the delight of the fans present.

Among the coveted auction items were autographed NBA uniforms from former Illini stars, and Coach Underwood’s iconic orange jumpsuit, both of which sparked competitive bidding and contributed to the evening’s fundraising success.

“This is one of my favorite events,” Underwood said. “It’s been fun to see it grow. Thanks to so many that have sponsored us and helped us.”

Meghan Markle Speaks Out on a Decade of Online Bullying as Prince Harry’s Awkward Selfie Goes Viral

0

Meghan Markle shared with her Australian fans today that she has endured relentless online harassment for a decade, describing herself as “the most trolled person in the entire world.”

Her remarks followed an incident where her husband, Prince Harry, appeared visibly irritated when Meghan was momentarily blocked by someone seeking a selfie during an event celebrating Aboriginal culture.

On the third day of their tour in Australia, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex engaged with students in Melbourne, discussing the perils of social media and its effects on mental health. They encouraged the young audience to remain resilient.

“I speak from personal experience, which is why I listen so intently—it resonates with me deeply,” Meghan explained.

She continued, “For a decade, day in and day out, I’ve been subjected to bullying and attacks. I was the most trolled individual globally.” Meghan concluded with a message of perseverance, adding, “I’m still here.”

Meghan made the comments during a discussion with young people associated with Australian mental health organisation Batyr at Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology on Thursday.

During the same group discussion, Harry said Australia’s ban on under-16s using social media was ‘epic’ from a ‘responsibility and leadership standpoint’.

It was the couple’s last day in Australia’s second city before they fly to Sydney and It came as all Meghan’s outfits from her tour continue to be uploaded to the OneOff website – described as the ‘Spotify of fashion’ – where Meghan will take a percentage of any sales.

Earlier in the day the couple Meghan was spotted wearing a ‘Mama’ t-shirt designed by her best friend Kelly McKee Zajfen while on the Scar Tree Walk in Melbourne with Harry.

The $40 white tee with a red heart is now for sale on Meghan’s OneOff page along with the $169 blue jeans, $599 trench and $298 trainers she wore with it at the event honouring Australia’s aboriginal culture.

The dress, tights and jewellery she later wore to the university was also immediately available on OneOff to fans who want her ‘look’, in return for around $1,000.

Earlier in the day Meghan’s protective husband looked annoyed when he was cornered by a television reporter for an awkward selfie.

The Duke of Sussex appeared to prod Paul Dowsley out of Meghan’s path when he asked for a picture before later brushing off the incident and telling the Channel 7 reporter they were ‘still friends’.

Speaking in a classroom at Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology, Meghan said social media companies were ‘not incentivised to stop’.

She said: ‘And when I think of all of you and what you’re experiencing, I think so much of that is having to realise that you know that industry, that billion-dollar industry, that is completely anchored and predicated on cruelty to get clicks – that’s not going to change.

‘So you have to be stronger than that.’

Harry then backed Australia’s ban on under-16s using social media was ‘epic’.

The Duke of Sussex told the young people gathered that social media had ‘led to so much loneliness for so many people’.

Wearing a blue shirt and jeans, the Duke said: ‘Australia took the lead.

‘Your government was the first country in the world to bring about a ban.

‘Now we can sit here and debate the pros and cons of a ban – I’m not here to judge that.

‘All I will say is from a responsibility and leadership standpoint – epic.

He added: ‘Because so many countries have now followed suit, but it should have never got to a ban.’

Discussing the benefits of therapy with them, Harry said: ‘I waited until I was literally in the fetal position, much older, lying on the kitchen floor. Until I was like, ok maybe this therapy thing – maybe I should try it.’

The duke and duchess have long campaigned to raise awareness about the harms of social media.

Harry said: ‘It should have never, ever got to a ban. And now that the ban is in place, now what follows?

‘Because the companies themselves have to be accountable, and there’s no way that young people should be punished by being banned from something that should be safe to use, no matter what.’

The duke also discussed regional differences in mental health support with the young people, telling them: ‘I’m not a city person, my mental health could not stand living in a city – no way.’

Batyr is a preventative youth mental health organisation, which delivers peer-to-peer programmes in schools, universities and workplaces and ‘uses lived experience storytelling to spark conversations around mental health’.

It is hosting a two-day workshop in Melbourne to address the challenges faced by rural and remote young people, ‘being left behind by a crisis-driven mental health system’.

Batyr was founded in 2011 by Sebastian Robertson, who decided to share his experience of mental ill-health to ‘normalise conversations and provide hope to young people going through tough times’.

The organisation, named after an elephant in a Kazakhstan zoo which was claimed to be able to use more than 20 human phrases, works to address a ‘youth mental health crisis in Australia’.

Meghan Markle is now making money out of fans buying her clothes after putting details of her wardrobe online following a deal with an AI-powered fashion website.

The Duchess of Sussex has become a participant and investor in OneOff so she can promote the outfits she has worn during her tour of Australia.

At Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, Meghan wore a $1,250 ‘Priscilla’ dress from local designer Karen Gee, with $780 ‘Puffy Hearts’ stud earrings by Real Fine Studio and $120 ‘Iridescent’ Christian Dior leather pumps.

Later at the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum, she had a $1,000 St Agni suede ‘Utility Cocoon Bomber’ jacket, an $890 suede ‘Column skirt’ by the same brand; a $220 ‘Annie’ top by PJ Femme and ‘Purist’ 105mm pointed-toe pumps by Aquazzura which are sold out in the US but cost £479 ($904) in the UK.

OneOff, an American firm based in Los Angeles, also features photos of Meghan from previous events and at her home with options to buy the clothing she is wearing.

Today the Duke, 41, looked miffed was cornered by a television reporter for an awkward selfie.

But after a brief walk through Melbourne’s Fitzroy Gardens, Harry was ambushed by Channel 7 reporter Paul Dowsley, who excitedly tried to snap a photo.

The reporter told the Daily Mail that the interactions with the Prince were all good-humoured, and that the royal had even complimented him on his flowered tie.

‘I suppose it’s a break in protocol to ask for a selfie with a royal but he told me that I’m always so well-dressed,’ he said.

Meghan Markle will be guest-starring on the new season of MasterChef Australia and fans of the beloved series are not happy.

Channel 10 took to Instagram on Wednesday evening to make the announcement, alongside an image of the Duchess of Sussex smiling proudly alongside judges Jean-Christophe Novelli, Poh Ling Yeow and Sofia Levin.

‘We’re welcoming someone SUPER special into the MasterChef Kitchen,’ the caption began.

‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, makes a special guest appearance this season as she returns to Australia for the first time since 2018,’ it continued.

MasterChef Australia also shared footage of the moment Poh introduces Megan to this year’s cast.

Breaking News: Unraveling the Geelong Oil Refinery Fire – Latest Updates and Insights

0

In brief

  • The fire broke out at the Viva Energy refinery in Corio, Geelong, on Wednesday night.
  • Firefighters remain on scene and an investigation is being conducted to determine the cause.

A significant fire at one of Australia’s two functioning oil refineries threatens to exacerbate the nation’s fuel supply challenges amid the ongoing global energy crisis. The incident has raised concerns about potential disruptions in the availability of fuel.

Officials reported that the fire erupted late Wednesday night at Viva Energy’s refinery located in Corio, Geelong. The blaze reportedly started around 11 p.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) received multiple calls at approximately 11:05 p.m., with witnesses alerting them to explosions and visible flames at the scene. The prompt response highlights the severity of the situation and the urgency with which it was addressed.

What happened?

According to Michael McGuinness, the FRV assistant chief fire officer, the fire originated in the refinery’s “mogas” section, an area dedicated to the production of motor gasoline. This detail underlines the potential impact on fuel production and supply, given the critical role of gasoline in the refinery’s operations.

On Thursday, FRV assistant chief fire officer Michael McGuinness said the fire started in the “mogas” section of the plant where motor gasoline was produced.

“There’s been some sort of leak, there’s hydrocarbons, flammable liquids which very readily caught fire,” he said.

FRV deputy commissioner Michelle Cowling told ABC News the fire was “well under control” and had been contained to a small area of the refinery.

She said there was a small leak after valve failures in mechanical equipment which likely led to the fire. A plume of LNG then ignited due to “several ignition sources” in the refinery.

“It looks like a valve has given way, which started a small leak,” she said.

There was no threat to the public and no reports of injuries.

About 50 firefighters, 10 fire trucks and a boat attended the scene.

“[It was] quite ferocious. The fire went from a small fire through several explosions to be quite a large, intense fire,” McGuinness said earlier, adding the fire did not appear to be suspicious.

A community advice message was issued for areas south of the refinery due to smoke. Residents were advised to close exterior doors and windows and turn off heating and cooling systems.

Will this affect Australia’s fuel production?

According to the company’s website, the refinery processes up to 120,000 barrels of oil a day and supplies 10 per cent of Australia’s fuel.

The extent of the damage to the refinery remains unclear, but two units in the petrol complex have been affected.

Energy Minister Chris Bowen said the fire was “not great timing” and he expected there would be impacts to Australia’s fuel production.

“This is not a positive development in Geelong,” he told ABC News Breakfast.

“Let’s not pretend somehow that this won’t have some sort of impact, but as I said, we will carefully, methodically manage it with the refinery.”

Viva Energy CEO Scott Wyatt said petrol “will potentially be impacted, depending on how we operate the units after”.

Bill Patterson, refinery manager at Corio, said the fire broke out in the aviation sector of the refinery, a section that assists with the production of high-octane fuels, including petrol.

“The unit that’s been impacted is a unit that turns LPG gases into a gasoline component, that gasoline component is used for a number of purposes, including in the blending of normal regular gasoline that you buy from your service stations,” he said.

Patterson said production had been ramped up in response to the events in the Middle East and that maintenance had been “pushed back” in a separate, diesel-producing section of the plant, but that this had not been a contributory factor to the fire.

Is the refinery operating?

Wyatt told Sky News production would continue at a “very low” level without specifying the output level.

“In the days ahead, we will look at how we can continue to operate the refinery without the need to use these two units that have been affected,” he said.

“We have operated in this way before, so we have a high degree of confidence that we can do that.”

Ajeet is expecting “variety” from the series. He said: “We are ten very different designers, each with our own style and way of thinking, so even when we were given the same brief, the outcomes felt completely distinct. Speaking about his main motivation in applying to be part of Interior Design Masters, Ajeet said: “Honestly, it was to see if this was something I could really do! Before the show, I’d been made redundant and was in a period of real uncertainty; trying to land a full-time role, while also starting to explore interior design more seriously with a few clients.

New Milestones Unveiled: How Officials Plan to Combat Homelessness Over the Next 5 Years

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Chatham-Savannah Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH) has reached the halfway point of its ambitious five-year strategy, and officials are reporting encouraging progress.

Stephanie Kaple, the Executive Director of ICH, shared updates on the plan’s progress during the Ardsley Park/Chatham Crescent Neighborhood Association’s monthly gathering on Wednesday.

Kaple provided a detailed overview of how their strategic plan is evolving in its mission to tackle homelessness in the area.

The initiative focuses on six primary objectives, such as increasing shelter intake hours, establishing a resource center, and managing encampments. These efforts have been well-received by those experiencing homelessness, according to Kaple.

“Since implementing our encampment management policy, we’ve reduced the number of encampments in our community from 85 to fewer than 20 within Chatham County,” Kaple explained.

The City of Savannah primarily has emergency shelters. A majority of those shelters only have a 90-day stay period. Kaple said after those 90-days many people still don’t have a safe place to go; therefore, she says there needs to be more transitional housing.

“We’re going to get you through that job training program or get your license reinstated,” Kaple said. “You are going to walk out those doors and never have to come back here again. That is my goal. So, we really need to add more transitional housing to our community.”

During Wednesday’s presentation Kaple addressed ongoing issues not just in Chatham County but across the country.

“30 percent of your income is the appropriate amount to be paid for housing. There’s no place in the country you can do that on a minimum wage job,” Kaple said.  “So we have problems and they have the potential to get a lot bigger.”

According to last year’s point-in-time survey, there were roughly 700 people experiencing homelessness in Chatham County, Kaple said. The Chatham-Savannah Homelessness Authority is still gathering this year’s numbers, which should be released in May.

Stephen Miller’s New Look: A Hair Transformation by Our Photo Editor

In a playful endeavor, our team has been digitally transforming various figures from the Trump administration, purely for entertainment purposes. Why, you ask? Simply because we can. Back in 2024, we imagined what JD Vance might look like with President Donald Trump’s iconic hairstyle, and the result was nothing short of amusing. This time, our focus has shifted to Stephen Miller, whose hair has certainly faced its fair share of challenges over the years. Our skilled photo editors have given Miller a virtual hair makeover, and the outcome is truly astonishing.

The addition of thick, flowing, wavy hair dramatically alters Miller’s appearance, making him look a decade younger. We’ve reimagined the White House deputy chief of staff for policy with a robust hairline and a full head of hair—an appearance that surprisingly suits him well. It’s often said that the right haircut can completely transform a person’s look, and this Photoshopped version of Miller is no exception, presenting a stark contrast to his usual image.

If the initial digitally altered image piqued your interest, you’re in for another treat. Our photo editors have crafted yet another creative mock-up, this time featuring a front-facing view of Miller with thick, luxurious locks reminiscent of actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s hairstyle (a nod to his fans). This image captures Miller with a broad smile during a White House press briefing in February 2025. The transformation is, once again, strikingly different from the real Stephen Miller, adding a layer of humor and intrigue to his public persona.

The long, voluminous, wavy hairdo instantly takes 10 years off Miller and suits him surprisingly well. We took the liberty of giving the White House deputy chief of staff for policy the Trudeau by picturing him with a proper hairline and a full head of hair. They say the right haircut instantly changes how a person looks, and in this case, that’s certainly true; Miller couldn’t look any more different in the Photoshopped image compared to his actual self, which is a whole other mood.

Should Stephen Miller start wearing wigs?

If you enjoyed seeing that digitally altered image of Stephen Miller with hair, you’re in for a treat as our photo editors went all in and created another mock-up too. This front-facing shot gives you a proper view of the Trump staffer sporting thick, luxurious locks that closely resemble Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s hair (sorry to the actor’s fans), if you squint your eyes really hard. It helps that the pic is of Miller flashing a giant (creepy?) smile while taking the podium during a February 2025 White House press briefing. Once again, though, the difference is striking.

Of course, this isn’t to judge anyone’s appearance and claim that the politician needs to start wearing wigs or anything like that. But, if that’s something he’d be interested in, Miller will be pleased to know that there are places that offer realistic wig installations specifically made for men. He could also look into plugs as another option — maybe Miller could even ask President Donald Trump’s bud Tiger Woods for some hair transplant advice? But in any case, it doesn’t seem as though the senior White House staffer is willing to go the extra mile to do anything about his hair.

After that viral incident in which Miller was heavily roasted for using a hair-thickening spray for a televised interview, the government employee has since accepted his fate and embraced the clean-shaven look. Unfortunately for him, it’s something the internet hasn’t let him forget. “It looks really good. Really impressed with him here,” wrote one Reddit user of Miller. “Just kidding. He’s the worst.”

Increased Police Presence on Orange Crush Island as Authorities Issue Warnings About Teen Gatherings Amid Beach Festivities

0

Tybee Island is ramping up its security measures this weekend in anticipation of the Orange Crush festival, a gathering sparking discussions due to a recent uptick in unapproved teen gatherings.

“We want to assure everyone that your safety remains our utmost priority,” stated Capt. Emory Randolph of the Tybee Island Police Department in a message to Fox News Digital, addressing the community’s concerns about the festival.

In a Facebook update on Tuesday, Tybee Island police noted, “Reports of ‘teen takeovers’ have emerged nationwide in recent months.” They highlighted a recent incident where gunshots interrupted an unauthorized beach event, raising local worry ahead of the Crush Reloaded festival.

This response comes on the heels of increased “teen takeover” events across the country, with a local incident just last week where a beach gathering was marred by gunfire.

Tybee Island police are coordinating with state and local agencies to brace for the upcoming Crush Reloaded weekend, they said.

Residents, police said, can expect a heavy law enforcement presence starting Thursday from the Georgia State Patrol to local Sheriff’s offices, supported by K-9 units and helicopters.

To maintain order, police are also launching a road safety checkpoint on Highway 80, carving out emergency lanes on main roads and shuttering the 14th and 16th Street parking lots.

WATCH: Teen takeover erupts in Georgia

The move came as nationwide teen takeover events are spreading. Last week, a mass of teens participating in a takeover on Tybee Island, Georgia, was interrupted in panic after police say gunfire broke out along the pier.

According to the Tybee Island Police Department, authorities responded around 6:30 p.m. on April 4, when hundreds of people gathered near the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion area, a popular spot in the laid-back beach community.

During the course of the “unpermitted, pop-up event,” officers said they heard a single gunshot ring out, and the crowd began to scatter.

Video shared by the department captured hoards of teens running away.

Visitors on the island who were nearby when it happened said the scene turned chaotic.

“Out there were like 15 girls. Came out yelling at us two last night for no reason,” the visitors, who asked not to be identified, told WTOC-TV.

“We were here, but, like, it was like, drunk white girls. Just a cloud of white girls just walking around.”

In the early 1990s, Orange Crush had a reputation for being a wild, crime-filled weekend, and Savannah State University disassociated with the event in 1991 because of the high number of arrests and reports of violence.

Three years ago, the event moved to Jacksonville, Florida, “due to lack of resources, limited parking, civil rights violations and political injustices,” according to a June 2021 story on Jacksonville.com, which cited the event’s website. The website has since been taken down.

The event returned to Tybee Island in 2023 for the first time since 2020.
