Shocking Unprovoked Attack: Man Opens Fire on Scooter Driver, Police Report Reveals

A man from Colorado, aged 31, stands accused of an attempted murder after allegedly shooting a scooter rider in the neck during an unprovoked encounter at a downtown Denver traffic light last week.

Anthony Davon Apodaca faces charges of attempted first-degree murder for the attack on Nico Francis.

Denver police were alerted to gunshots near the intersection of 18th and Stout streets shortly before 11:45 p.m. on April 3, as per a police statement. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot, and the investigation was described as ongoing as they gathered details about the suspect. Later, authorities identified Apodaca as the suspect.

The investigation revealed that the confrontation began when a white SUV stopped close to the victim on his scooter, as outlined in an arrest affidavit reported by the Denver Post. A passenger in the SUV allegedly shouted at several individuals standing at a nearby bus stop before focusing his aggression on the scooter rider waiting at a red light.

A witness indicated to investigators that the SUV passenger aggressively questioned the scooter rider, demanding to know if he “had a problem.”

The victim later told police he responded by telling the passenger that he did not have a problem, but the man still pulled out a firearm and shot him, according to the report.

Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot before the SUV sped away, police reportedly said. Officers later located the vehicle and detained multiple occupants after another passenger identified Apodaca as the shooter.

Francis told Denver NBC affiliate KUSA what he remembered about his encounter with the shooter after he asked Francis whether he had a problem.

“I tried calming him down. I was like, ‘I don’t know you. I don’t want any trouble, man. I’m just trying to go meet my friends,’” Francis told the station. “He turns and I see him pointing his gun at my face and it totally shocked me. He pulled the trigger and I heard this really, really loud pop, and I look down and I see blood everywhere, and I’m just sitting there thinking is this really the moment that I die? Like I’m going to die on a sidewalk in downtown Denver and I don’t even know why.”

Asked about a possible motive, Francis told local Fox affiliate KDVR he believes the men in the SUV were just “driving around looking for a fight.”

“I think he [Apodaca] just kinda wanted to shoot somebody that night,” Francis said.

One of the most troubling aspects of the ordeal, Francis added, is the fact that Apodaca was released from detention after posting $75,000 bond, which has only compounded his fear.

“I understand he’s on house arrest, but that doesn’t make me feel any better,” he said. “I feel a lot more safe if he was in jail.”

He also credited a bystander with helping to save his life after the shooting. “He saved my life,” Francis said, describing how the man applied pressure to his wound until help arrived.

Francis expanded on the emotional and physical toll in a GoFundMe campaign, writing that he suffered significant injuries and faces ongoing medical treatment and rehabilitation as he recovers.

Apodaca is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on April 21 for an advisement hearing, records show.

Teresa Giudice Uncertain About Filming with Joe Gorga for New ‘RHONJ’ Season

Reality TV star Teresa Giudice recently opened up about the uncertainty surrounding her filming future with her brother, Joe Gorga, for the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Her daughter, Gia Giudice, also weighed in on the family’s tumultuous past.

Teresa Giudice Says She’s Not Sure If She and Joe Gorga Will Film Together on New ‘RHONJ’ Season

Credit: Bravo

The tension between Teresa and Joe dates back to 2022 when Joe and his wife, Melissa Gorga, opted out of attending Teresa’s wedding to Luis Ruelas. This decision led to a significant rift, resulting in the families halting joint filming and the show taking a hiatus. However, following a period of reconciliation, Bravo announced the series’ return, with an invitation extended to both Teresa and Melissa, as well as Dolores Catania.

Speaking on the Shawn & Andrew podcast, Teresa shared her thoughts on the potential dynamic with Joe as filming resumes.

“It’s all about taking baby steps,” Teresa explained. “I’m unsure if we’ll be filming together again. Bravo hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but if we do, I plan to watch it after filming wraps.”

“This is the thing, though: it’s baby steps,” she said. “And [I’m] not sure if we’re going to film together or not again. … If we do — not sure if we are, you know, Bravo hasn’t said anything — but if we do, after we film … this time I’m definitely gonna watch it.”

“Hopefully we’ll both have each other’s backs, that’s all I want,” she went on. “I want to show America what my family was really about, like how I was raised. My brother and I always had each other’s backs.”

At one point, Gia addressed how the drama began when Teresa got “hurt.”

“She always remembered that,” said Gia. “When people hurt her that she loved and really cared about, she always will remember that. And that’s something that she does. It’s hard to make her forget and move on.”

Teresa and Melissa will film the new season with Dolores, the only castmate who absolutely refused to pick a side amid the family drama. Most co-stars from last season were, predictably, against Teresa or against Melissa.

But many fans grew tired of the ‘Team’ mentality, and they have praised Dolores for not getting sucked into it. Viewers, it seems, are ready to see drama that goes beyond the Gorga/Giudice war.

Though both sides have promised to keep the peace, no one can predict if the détente will last. If it ends, we may get another season of the same storyline that’s been playing out for years.

Rhapsody Of Realities 15 April 2026: Always Filled With The Spirit

Rhapsody Of Realities 15 April 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Always Filled With The Spirit

TOPIC: Always Filled With The Spirit (Rhapsody of Realities 15 April 2026)

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

It’s God’s desire that you live continually filled with the Spirit, and the Bible tell us how in the ensuing verses 19 to 21 of our opening scripture: “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”

How profound that He’d list for us what we’re to do in getting ourselves perpetually filled with the Spirit! It’s up to you to put this to practise every day in your personal life. It’ll keep you above agitation, fear and worry. Those who aren’t often filled with the Spirit are easily troubled and uneasy, looking for someone to blame or somewhere to vent their frustrations.

But when you live full of the Spirit, you remain joyful, peaceful and at rest. You don’t struggle; your faith prevails. You function from a place of divine supply, strength and wisdom.

Every day, stay continually stirred, stimulated and spiritually minded. It’s your responsibility to remain in that atmosphere. There, everything is permanent, unshaken, and eternal. From that realm, you govern circumstances and rule over life’s situations. You’re constantly aglow and afire by the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the blessing of being continually filled with the Spirit. I maintain the glow of the Spirit in my life as I walk in the consciousness of your righteousness, glory, beauty, excellence and eternal life within me. I live from the realm of the Spirit and dominate my world with your power and glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Ephesians 5:18-21 (AMPC) And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. [19] Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord, [20] At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. [21] Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (KJV) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. [17] For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; [18] While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Romans 12:11 (MOFFAT) never let your zeal flag; maintain the spiritual glow; serve the Lord;

Empowering Choice: NSW Pharmacists Granted Authority to Prescribe Contraceptive Pills

0

Women in New South Wales will soon have the option to obtain prescriptions for birth control pills directly from pharmacists, bypassing the need for a doctor’s visit, thanks to a new policy unveiled by the state government today.

Premier Chris Minns highlighted that this initiative aims to offer women greater autonomy, convenience, and choice in managing their reproductive health.

This development builds on an existing program that allows women to refill their contraceptive prescriptions at selected pharmacies without needing a doctor’s consultation.

Currently, 773 pharmacies across NSW are registered with Healthdirect to offer this prescription resupply service.

“The goal is to eliminate obstacles to accessing healthcare,” Minns stated.

“And at a time when cost of living is front of mind, this is a simple change that will save time, save money and make life a bit easier.”

However, the service, available for women aged over 18, will not be free in the long term.

The NSW government has allocated $4.5 million to pay for the first 5000 consultations with a trained pharmacist, after which women can expect to pay between $20 and $60 for the consultation.

Pharmacists trained with a graduate certificate from James Cook University will be able to prescribe contraception for women at lower risk of complications, and after participating in a NSW induction to reproductive health course.

The government anticipates that up to 60 pharmacists will be eligible to start, with more pharmacists coming online as they complete the graduate certificate.

“Access to contraception should not be a burden for women, and the NSW Government is providing new solutions to make life easier, more affordable and safer for women,” Health Minister Ryan Park said.

NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said: “This investment is about addressing gaps to women’s access to contraception options in the health system, particularly for women where cost, service availability and location limit access to care.”

Hospital Stabbing Incident Puts Spotlight on Risks Faced by Healthcare Workers as Woman Receives Sentence

0

Entering the healthcare profession is often described as a calling. Many are driven by a deep-seated desire to help others, a sentiment for which society is profoundly grateful. However, working in emergency rooms presents unique challenges. Professionals in these settings face a daunting array of crises, and the dangers they encounter are escalating, yet this alarming trend receives insufficient attention.

In a recent case highlighting these perils, Jimissa Rivers was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree assault charges. This verdict follows a violent incident in July 2022 at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis County, where Rivers attacked triage nurse Tammy Scott and EMT Kayla McMahan. Scott was assisting a patient with chest pains when Rivers attacked her with a butcher knife, inflicting severe stab wounds to her head, arm, and neck—severing an artery in the process. Scott later reflected, “I would not have survived if I weren’t at a hospital. I had an artery severed. I would have been dead within a matter of minutes.” McMahan, too, endured grave injuries, suffering stab wounds to her head and lung. Both women now cope with PTSD and lasting physical scars, leading them to abandon their healthcare careers.

On Monday, Jimissa Rivers pleaded guilty to first-degree assault charges and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the stabbing of triage nurse Tammy Scott and EMT Kayla McMahan at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis County in July 2022. Scott recalled how she was helping a patient with chest pains when Rivers stabbed her in the head with a butcher knife. When Scott put her arm up in defense, Rivers stabbed her in the arm. When Scott put her arm down, Rivers stabbed her in the neck, severing an artery. Scott said, “I would not have survived if I weren’t at a hospital. I had an artery severed. I would have been dead within a matter of minutes.” McMahan was stabbed in the head and lung. Both suffer from PTSD, lasting physical effects, and both left their careers.

The incident came after Scott said:

“We had repeated violent attacks on staff, not only in the hospital, but in triage, where I was working and where Kayla was working, too. Incident reports were filed. Incident reports were ignored. Nothing changed after our attack.”

However, one thing did change: Scott added that, “After our attack, the very next day, suddenly they had metal detectors, and they placed security, 24/7 outside of triage.” Another thing that changed is that St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price Smith created a special unit within her office that deals specifically with workplace assaults on healthcare workers in January of this year. Smith said, “I am very aware that at least 50% of health care workers report having been assaulted on the job.”

Tammy Scott’s tales of incidents being ignored back up a problem that is only getting worse. Healthcare workers make up 10 percent of the workforce, but experience 48 percent of non-fatal injuries in the workplace. A January 2024 survey showed that 91 percent of emergency physicians had been the victim of violence or had a colleague who was. Those healthcare workers did not have much confidence that their employers would address the problem. A 2024 American College of Emergency Physicians survey showed that 50 percent of those who reported incidents said nothing was done, and a 2024 National Nurses survey showed that 45 percent of respondents said their employer ignored incidents of violence, and 29 percent said their employer reprimanded or blamed the employee.

On a personal note, as someone who spent 30 years in healthcare, 22 years as a hospital pharmacy technician, I can attest to the fact that attacks on healthcare workers have only gotten worse. I was lucky; I was only verbally assaulted. But I knew I had to get out. My husband continues to work part-time at the hospital where we met. Metal detectors and security at the entrances were only instituted there after the DePaul attack as well.

Tammy Scott has a new calling now. She says, “I am a voice for healthcare professionals, and that is now my quest to push for change.” Often, as Price Smith said, healthcare workers are told to “toughen up” and that violence is a job hazard. No. It’s not.

I might not have been as deep in the trenches as Tammy Scott and Kayla McMahan, but if they needed me to be, I would be just as loud.

Taylor Swift Channels Hollywood Glamour: Wedding Dress Inspired by Iconic Elizabeth Taylor

0

Taylor Swift is set to embrace a touch of vintage elegance for her upcoming June wedding to football star Travis Kelce. Her bridal gown will draw inspiration from a classic style worn by Elizabeth Taylor during her marriage to Conrad Hilton, Paris Hilton’s great uncle, back in 1950.

The pop sensation has long admired the late actress, having paid tribute to her with a song on her recent album, “The Life Of A Showgirl.” Swift’s admiration for Elizabeth Taylor’s timeless glamour became evident while she crafted the music video for the track.

“Taylor spent considerable time poring over vintage photos of Elizabeth Taylor while working on the music video, which sparked her fascination with the legendary actress’s fashion sense,” a source revealed to The Daily Mail.

With her wedding day on the horizon, Swift turned to the internet to explore Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic gowns, finding inspiration for her own special day.

‘So when she started thinking about her wedding dress, she looked up Elizabeth’s old gowns online.’

Swift was taken by the Giant star’s 1950 gown because it was ‘so flattering,’ said the source.

Swift and Kelce are working hard to plan their June 2026 wedding which is only two months away.

The pop star and the football player, who are both 36 years old, will say 'I do' on June 13 in Rhode Island

‘Taylor said she liked how it was old fashioned and came in at the waistline, plus the lace detailing,’ it was also shared.

The source did not know the name of the fashion designer working on the dress – it has been speculated she may go with Sarah Burton (formerly Alexander McQueen) or Vivienne Westwood – but did say that it was not Oscar de la Renta.

Conrad Hilton Jr, whose nickname was Nicky, is the late great-uncle of Paris Hilton.

Hilton and Taylor were married on May 6, 1950, when Taylor was 18. Their lavish wedding was a major media event as it was also a promotion for Taylor’s film Father Of The Bride. The difficult marriage lasted only eight months, ending in divorce in 1951.

Nicky Hilton Jr was the son of Hilton Hotels founder Conrad Hilton, making him Paris Hilton’s grandfather’s brother.

Taylor was married eight times to seven different men between 1950 and 1996.  In addition to Hilton, her husbands included Michael Wilding, Mike Todd, Eddie Fisher, Richard Burton (twice), John Warner and Larry Fortensky.

The source also hinted that Swift might borrow a piece of the movie icon’s jewelry for her big day.

‘She loves Elizabeth’s jewels so she may just wear one of her pieces, something on the smaller side for when she walks down the aisle, but she would need to ask Taylor’s estate,’ said the insider.

'Taylor spent so much time looking at old photos of Elizabeth Taylor when she was making her music video for that song that she become enamored with the movie queen's style,' a source told The Daily Mail

Considering how happy the Elizabeth Taylor estate was with Swift’s song and video about the icon, it is likely they would say yes.

Swift’s wedding band will probably be from Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, who made her engagement ring when Kelce proposed in August 2025, though recently the singer has been wearing jewelry from Audry Rose.

The pop star and the football player, who are both 36 years old, will say ‘I do’ on June 13 in Rhode Island, it has been reported.

With the date and location locked in, the crooner is focusing on the guest list, menu, flowers, the towering cake and her wedding gown, according to a March UsWeekly cover story.

The site added that they are expecting 150 guests. ‘It won’t be a huge wedding, but there will be many celebrities,’ said the source to the site.

Swift’s celebrity pals include Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Emma Stone and Zoë Kravitz. Kelce’s best friends are his brother Jason Kelce, teammate Patrick Mahomes and Hollywood actor Miles Teller.

The wedding will reportedly take place at her $18 million Rhode Island mansion which has a view of the ocean and generous adjacent lawns.

‘They feel confident hosting it there. The entire area will be very private and guarded,’ said the insider.

And there will be some spillover at the Ocean House, a five-star seaside resort nearby, it was claimed.

‘The guest list grew, so the ceremony and private gatherings associated with the wedding [will be split between the venues],’ said a second source.

But that could be changed at the last minute, the outlet allowed: ‘Taylor always has a plan B and C for every scenario.’

Neither Swift nor Kelce wanted a huge wedding. ‘They’ve gone back and forth between inviting everyone and keeping it small and private,’ said a second source. ‘As of now, they’ve scaled it down. It’s no longer going to be a massive blowout.’

The wedding will be traditional ‘with Taylor’s dad walking her down the aisle and all the classic touches, like the father-daughter and mother-son dances,’ said the second source.

‘Taylor loves those emotional, meaningful moments, and Travis [is] on the same page,’ it was added.

And there is no bridezilla among the pair who are talking about white flowers, gold wedding bands and a traditional 1950s style wedding cake.

‘They’re both involved and making decisions together,’ a source told the site.

The lovebirds have been ‘focused on actually enjoying the process rather than getting caught up in the pressure.’

The insider added, ‘They’re keeping things light’ as they prepare without any pressing work obligations in front of them.

The honeymoon will take place soon after the wedding and might be in the Caribbean, the site also alleged.

They don’t have long to hang out on the beach, however, as in late July Kelce has to go to football training camp.

They announced their engagement in August with a joint Instagram post that read, ‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.’

He presented Swift with a custom-designed old mine-cut diamond engagement ring in his backyard in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

After they wed, Swift will return to work.

‘She does have another record in the works,’ said the first source, ‘but there’s no pressure to release it anytime soon. It’s still very much in the creative stages.’

And there are no plans for a Life of a Showgirl tour. ‘She never meant to do a massive tour attached to it,’ said the insider.

‘Taylor’s priority right now is her personal life. She and Travis are saving all their energy for the big summer they have coming up,’ it was added.

Suspected Gang-Linked Immigrant Arrested Following Incident with ICE Officer

0

The FBI apprehended a man on Monday, who is suspected to be an illegal immigrant and gang member, after he allegedly struck an ICE officer with his car during a traffic stop last week.

Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, aged 36, originally from El Salvador and residing near San Francisco, California, faces charges of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon, as announced by the Department of Justice on Tuesday.

Authorities had conducted a targeted vehicle stop suspecting Mendoza Hernandez of having ties to the notorious 18th Street Gang. They also believed he was in the United States illegally and was wanted in El Salvador in relation to a murder investigation.

In his bid to escape, Mendoza Hernandez is accused of using his vehicle as a weapon, prompting law enforcement officers to open fire. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he spent several days before being cleared to be taken into custody.

split photo of Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez and car accident scene

Authorities have stated that Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez “weaponized” his car during the traffic stop in California on April 7, 2026.

“Mendoza Hernandez refused to comply with lawful orders from federal officers, operated his vehicle in a manner that damaged a federal vehicle, and drove his vehicle toward officers in a manner that would have caused serious bodily injury or death had the officers not taken evasive action,” FBI Special Agent Brian Toy said in a recently unsealed criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.

According to federal prosecutors, four agents conducted the targeted vehicle stop in Patterson, California, about 70 miles southeast of San Francisco, last Tuesday.

As agents attempted to detain him, he “eventually drove forward and hit an agent with his vehicle.” He then reversed abruptly and violently collided with a law enforcement vehicle parked behind him in a possible attempt to create room to escape, the complaint said.

He again attempted to ram two agents in front of him, forcing one agent to jump out of the way to avoid harm.

“Based on my training and experience, and after reviewing relevant video evidence from the encounter, I believe that if Agent 1 had not moved, he/she would have been struck by Mendoza Hernandez and would have suffered serious bodily injury or death,” Toy said in the complaint.

ICE shooting footage

Footage shows the shooting unfolding in the middle of a busy road.

In response to his vehicle’s movements, agents discharged their firearms, striking Mendoza Hernandez several times.

Mendoza Hernandez then fled the scene by jumping the center median and driving the wrong way against traffic, eventually bringing his car to a stop on the side of the road.

The attorney representing Mendoza Hernandez said that his client was shot in the mouth, left arm, left leg, abdomen and somewhere on his right side, according to Fox 2 KTVU

He was reportedly in the ICU as of Monday and “was in no condition” to be released, attorney Patrick Kolasinki added.

His family and attorney have also disputed ICE’s claim of gang ties, while citing documents that reportedly show he was acquitted of murder in El Salvador, the outlet reported.

“Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez is a loving father and partner who was shot today by ICE in a tragic case of mistaken identity,” Kolasinki said last week in a GoFundMe page.

“On his way to work, Carlos was stopped by ICE and, in a moment of fear, tried to flee. The situation escalated, and he was shot. Now, Carlos is in the hospital, fighting for his life, while his fiancée Cindy and their 2-year-old daughter wait and hope for his recovery.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said his custody status will be determined during his initial appearance before a U.S. magistrate judge.

If convicted, Mendoza Hernandez faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Fox News Digital reached out to attorney Patrick Kolasinki for more information.

St. Pete Beach Set to Decide on Increased Parking Fees and Holiday Rate Adjustments: What You Need to Know

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — St. Pete Beach City officials are on the cusp of finalizing a new resolution that affects parking rates, following a recent increase of 50 cents across the board. This move has stirred a mix of reactions from residents and visitors alike.

“You kind of expect it,” remarked Don Angelina, on his way to enjoy the beach. “It would be nice if it went down, but I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon.”

For many, like resident Laurie Lakhani, the increased rates are just a sign of the times. “It is a lot, but you pay a lot for any experience today,” she noted, reflecting a resigned acceptance of the rising costs.

In addition to the rate increase, the proposed resolution will tackle parking regulations during major events and holidays, such as Labor Day or the Fourth of July. The city manager will have the discretion to set a flat rate ranging from $40 to $75, depending on the specific occasion.

“It should be pretty much set so people don’t get a surprise that they’re not expecting,” Lakhani emphasized. “Because people do budget and things are expensive.”

Weekday rates are $5 an hour, and weekend rates start on Friday at $6 an hour. According to the city the rates would help parking spots turn over and generate nearly $2-million for the city.

Currently, parking rates are set a dollar higher for a busier beach season. It runs through the end of April. Beach goers said they were hopeful new rates could make it easier to find a spot in busy lots.

“There’s not enough but there’s nothing that can be done about that. You can’t make more land,” said Lakhani.

An Ohio volunteer firefighter is facing charges after allegedly murdering a woman he worked for and attempting to conceal the crime by setting her home on fire.

Peyton Beam, 22, was taken into custody on Sunday on charges of aggravated murder, following the discovery of 50-year-old Ericka Kramer’s body in her Ansonia, Ohio home. The Darke County Sheriff’s Office reported that the Ansonia Fire Department responded to a house fire on April 10 at 12:29 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the residence engulfed in flames, and Kramer was found dead inside. The medical examiner has classified her death as a homicide.

Beam, one of the firefighters who responded to the blaze, is alleged to have started the fire himself after fatally shooting Kramer, according to reports from WHIO, a local CBS affiliate. Prosecutors presented this information during a court hearing.

In Beam’s initial court appearance on Monday, prosecutors revealed that he had been performing farm work at Kramer’s property since his teenage years. They accused him of “executing” Kramer on April 10, stating in court that she was shot twice in the back and twice in the head.

The prosecution also alleged that Beam poured gasoline over Kramer’s body before setting the house ablaze. In a further twist, Beam returned to the scene as part of the Ansonia Fire Department’s response team, actively participating in efforts to extinguish the fire. Prosecutors noted that Beam “was one of the first people to get to the property” as it burned.

Beam shook his head as he attended the proceedings via video call. His defense attorney told the court that Beam considered Kramer a “second mother,” according to WHIO’s reporting. He added that the defense “would be very interested in ballistics in this case, very interested in any evidence other than inference.”

Kramer, who is survived by a daughter and stepchildren and lost her husband in 2022, was a beloved cheerleading coach for Ansonia Public Schools.

Beam was charged with aggravated murder and aggravated arson. During his court appearance on Monday, a judge set his bond at $5 million, cash or surety. He would have to post 10% cash, or $500,000, to be granted release. He is currently still in custody at the Darke County Jail. His next court date was not available.
