() – On Sunday, a judge ruled against granting bond for Michilae Herring and Jomareah Harris, the parents of 4-year-old Javeayah Harris.
Magistrate Judge Ronald Thornton decided not to set bond for Herring or Harris, as they both face charges of Homicide by Child Abuse. They were referred to a circuit court judge, as the charges include both Homicide by Child Abuse and Filing a False Police Report. This resulted in separate hearings where bond was denied for each individual.
Both Herring and Harris appeared at the hearings without an attorney. They have both requested a public defender, but the Judge ruled that their income was too high to qualify for the court appointed attorney.
Herring’s next court appearance is set for September 18th at 9 a.m.
On Saturday, Aiken County Sheriff Marty Sawyer held a press conference stating that investigators believe Javeayah has been dead for at least a month.
Both of Javeayah’s parents have been charged with Homicide by Child Abuse with Herring having an additional charge of Filing a False Police Report. According to authorities, additional charges may be forthcoming.
OAKWOOD, Ill. (WCIA) — Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes following a fiery collision involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 74 in Oakwood, which erupted into flames Sunday afternoon.
Confirmed by an email to WCIA from the Illinois State Police, eastbound traffic on I-74 is currently being redirected to U.S. Route 150 starting at exit 206.
The incident unfolded around 12:15 p.m. As reported by State Police, one of the truck drivers was hospitalized with injuries but is expected to recover. Commuters in the vicinity are urged to proceed with caution and to consider alternate routes.
Currently, the precise cause of the collision remains under investigation, and it is uncertain how long the road will remain closed. Additional details have yet to be disclosed.
If you imagined the Yankees’ situation couldn’t deteriorate further, you were mistaken.
During a game where they faced a shutout and approached the field after losing eight of their last nine matches, Jazz Chisholm Jr. exited in the fifth inning due to what appeared to be an injury.
At the bottom half of the fifth inning on Sunday in The Bronx, Chisholm hit a fly ball to right field, appearing to run with difficulty as he reached first base. After the ball was caught, Chisholm slowly made his way back to the dugout.

He had a brief conversation with manager Aaron Boone, who then signaled for Amed Rosario. Rosario took over at third base, causing José Caballero to move to second base.
As of now, the Yankees have not issued any official updates regarding Chisholm’s condition.
It was unclear when Chisholm suffered the apparent injury, but he owned the worst moment of the afternoon for the Yankees. In the second inning, Chisholm won a nine-pitch battle with Minnesota’s Joe Ryan and roped a long single into right, but he then fiddled with his sliding glove at first base, which led to his getting picked off.
A series of shootings in Brooklyn over the Fourth of July weekend left several people injured, including a New York City police detective and four children.
During an early Sunday morning incident in Crown Heights, Detective Robert Karroll from the New York Police Department’s Sex Offender Monitoring Unit was shot in the back of his protective vest while confronting an armed teenager, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. She provided these details at a news conference following the event.
Detective Karroll was swiftly transported to Kings County Hospital and is anticipated to recover completely. Another officer involved in the incident sustained facial and shoulder injuries.
Scott Munro, President of the Detectives’ Endowment Association, strongly criticized the outbreak of violence.

“This has to stop,” he said at a Sunday morning news conference. “Three weeks ago we had a detective shot – in the same hospital. This has the stop. Our members are out there day and night hours and hours protecting the people of the city of New York doing a job that they took an oath to take and they need to be respected and thank God this detective is going home.”
He sighed relief that “we’re not planning a funeral today.”
Tisch said officers assigned to a mobile field force detail were parked in an unmarked police vehicle near Nostrand Avenue and St. Johns Place around 4:14 a.m. ET when a person approached the car.
“Given the lack of body-worn camera in this incident, the circumstances of the approach are still unclear,” Tisch said, adding the shooting happened “quickly and unexpectedly.”

That shooting came hours after four children were injured in Coney Island, where at least eight people were shot.
The victims included two men, two women and four children, ages 14, 12, 7 and 6. All were taken to hospitals. Seven were listed in stable condition, while a 21-year-old woman was in critical condition, police said.
In the shooting of the officers, Tisch said officers got out of the vehicle and tried to engage the armed suspect before three officers fired their weapons. The suspect was not struck, she said. The police vehicle had ballistic damage, including bullet holes in the front and rear windshields and on the passenger side.

After a foot chase, the suspect was apprehended several blocks away near Rogers Avenue and Union Street. Tisch said he resisted arrest and refused to be handcuffed before officers deployed a taser and took him into custody. A SAR 9mm firearm was recovered.
“I’m relieved that the officer, Detective Robert Karroll, was wearing a bulletproof vest and was not seriously injured as a result of it,” New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said at the news conference, relieved at the survival of “a husband and father of three children.”
Tisch said the officers had been reassigned to the area shortly before midnight as part of the department’s Fourth of July violence reduction plan targeting ongoing crew violence.
Investigators were canvassing nearby businesses for surveillance footage because there was no body-camera video of the shooting itself.
The Belgian Football Association has issued a strongly worded statement expressing their discontent with FIFA’s “astonishing” choice to lift the one-game World Cup suspension for USA striker Folarin Balogun.
This decision, confirmed on Sunday, delivered a significant advantage to the US Men’s National Team, as Balogun is now cleared to play in Monday’s crucial round of 16 match against Belgium.
Not long after the announcement, US President Donald Trump expressed his support for FIFA’s decision on Truth Social, stating: “Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right and reversing a great injustice!”
While Trump and countless US supporters celebrated the overturning of the suspension, the Belgian Football Association was left outraged by the development.
In a subsequent statement from the Royal Belgian Football Association, they expressed their disbelief, saying: “The RBFA is astonished by FIFA’s decision to allow United States player Folarin Balogun to participate in the USA–Belgium match on Monday, July 6, at 5:00 p.m.”
‘FIFA bases its decision on Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the enforcement of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction.
FIFA have suspended the one-game ban handed to USA striker Folarin Balogun
The forward, who was sent off for this tackle, will now be available to face Belgium on Monday
The Belgian FA released a scathing statement lamenting FIFA’s decision to suspend the ban
‘However, Article 66.4 of the same FIFA Disciplinary Code clearly provides that a red card (sending-off) automatically results in a suspension for the team’s next match, as has been the case for all previous red cards issued during this FIFA World Cup.
‘Furthermore, and irrespective of the above, the decision is in direct contradiction with the provisions of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Competition Regulations, as set out in Article 10.5: “If a player or team official is sent off as a result of a direct or indirect red card (second caution), they will automatically be suspended from their team’s subsequent match. In addition, further sanctions may be imposed.”
‘The automatic nature of such a suspension was also explicitly reaffirmed in FIFA World Cup 2026 Circular No. 16, which was distributed to all participating member associations on 12 May 2026.
‘The same rule is reiterated at every FIFA World Cup 2026 Match Coordination Meeting prior to each match and is included in all FIFA World Cup 2026 workshop presentations.
‘In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of all participating teams and to protect the fundamental principles of fair play in our sport, both at this FIFA World Cup and at future editions of the tournament, the RBFA is investigating all potential options.’
FIFA are yet to respond to the Belgian FA’s statement.
Balogun, 25, was sent off during the USA’s victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday following a challenge on defender Tarik Muharemovic.
Though it initially appeared to be a fairly innocuous tackle, replays showed that the striker did appear to scrape his cleats down his rival’s leg. However, the decision still sparked widespread fury online, with many fans calling to overturn the suspension.
US President Donald Trump was among those to praise FIFA ‘for doing what was right’

On Sunday morning, their wish was granted after FIFA confirmed the suspension.
In their own statement, FIFA said: ‘In line with article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the implementation of the match suspension is suspended for a probationary period of one year.
‘If Folarin Balogun commits another infringement of a similar nature and gravity during the probationary period, the suspension shall be revoked and the sanction enforced without prejudice to any additional sanction imposed for the new infringement.’
In response, the USMNT said: ‘We accept the decision of the Disciplinary Committee and are pleased that Folarin Balogun is eligible to compete tomorrow.
‘Our full attention is focused on the Round of 16 match against Belgium in Seattle, and we look forward to the continued support of our amazing fans.’
The Daily Mail understands that the USMNT were informed about the decision on Sunday morning, before Balogun was told at a team meeting shortly afterwards.
Balogun broke his silence on the matter in the days that followed the USA’s 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, insisting that he felt a yellow card would’ve been fair.
‘First and foremost, it was totally unintentional, which I’m sure a lot of people know. But, you know, I think the choice of the referee was, of course, his choice, but I don’t think it was the correct call,’ he told reporters on Friday.
‘I think a yellow card would have been fair due to it not being intentional. There’s not many places I can place my foot in such a scenario. But it’s happened, and it’s something that I have to accept and move forward from.’
GARY, Ind. (WLS) — Two separate shooting incidents unfolded just minutes apart, resulting in the death of a child and injuring at least seven others in northwest Indiana, according to police statements.
Authorities from Gary reported that officers were dispatched shortly after midnight, around 12:34 a.m. on Sunday, to the vicinity of 19th Avenue and Hanley Street following alerts of gunfire.

As the officers made their way to the scene, information surfaced that several victims had already reached Methodist Northlake Hospital independently. At least six individuals transported themselves, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately clear.
Shortly thereafter, at 12:49 a.m., law enforcement received another call about a shooting victim in the 200-block of Chase Street, approximately four miles from the initial disturbance. During their response, they were informed that a 10-year-old boy and a 50-year-old man had been shot and transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital.
Tragically, the young boy succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. He has been identified by the Lake County, Indiana Coroner’s Office as Montana Weathers, a resident of Chicago.
The 50-year-old man was transported to another Chicago-area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police asked anyone with information on the 19th Avenue and Hanley Street shooting to contact Detective Corporal Melendez at 219-881-1209.
Police asked anyone with information on the Chase Street shooting to contact Detective Salazar with the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force at 219-755-3720.
Further information was not immediately available.

Open Heaven 6 July 2026 TOPIC – Will You Be There?
MEMORISE: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. – John 14:3 (KJV)
READ: Revelation 21:1-27 (KJV)
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 21-23
Open Heaven 6 July 2026 MESSAGE
The first time I travelled to the United States of America was in the summer of 1979, and I had an experience that can be described as heavenly. I stayed in Tulsa, and in that city, the sun would still be up late into the evening. The streets were so clean that it felt like one could eat off them. The bathroom of my hotel room had three faucets: one for hot water, another for warm water, and the last for cold water. Also, the electricity never went out, and everything was just fantastic. After two weeks, I returned to Nigeria, and as the plane was about to land, I looked out of the window and noticed a stark difference between where I was coming from and where I was returning to, because in those days Nigeria was far less developed than it is now.
Beloved, my experience in Tulsa, all those years ago, can in no way be compared to heaven. In heaven, there is no night at all because, in today’s Bible reading, we are made to understand that “…the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof” (Revelation 21:23). Heaven is a beautiful place that no one should miss, and I pray that you will not miss it, in Jesus’ name.
Heaven is God’s promise to all believers. Jesus said in today’s memory verse that where He is, we will also be. If you have given your life to Jesus and you are following Him faithfully, you will end up where He is at the end of your earthly sojourn. When children go to school, they know that at the end of the school day, they will return home to their parents. Likewise, if God is truly your Father, you have an assurance that you will reign with Him in eternity after your sojourn here on earth. However, only those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus can be children of God, and only His children can spend eternity with Him in heaven.
Beloved, are you sure of where you will spend eternity? If you want your stay in heaven to be guaranteed, you must not allow sin in your heart. You must be fully committed to Jesus Christ and do His will at all times. I have made up my mind to shun sin and be fully committed to Jesus Christ so I can spend my eternity with Him in heaven. Will I see you there?
Open Heaven 6 July 2026 REFLECTION
Where will you spend eternity, Heaven or Hell?
Open Heaven 6 July 2026 HYMN 20 – I’m Pressing On The Upward Way
1 I’m pressing on the upward way, New heights I’m gaining ev’ry day; Still praying as I’m onward bound, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Refrain: Lord, lift me up, and let me stand By faith, on heaven’s tableland; Where love, and joy, and light abound, Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2 My heart has no desire to stay Where doubts arise and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where these abound, My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3 Beyond the mist I fain would rise, To rest beneath unclouded skies, Above earth’s turmoil peace is found, By those who dwell on higher ground.
4 I long to scale the utmost height, Though rough the way, and hard the flight, My song, while climbing, shall resound, Lord, lead me on to higher ground
5 Lord, lead me up the mountain side, I dare not climb without my Guide; And, heaven gained, I’ll gaze around, With grateful heart from higher ground.

A man faces an involuntary manslaughter charge following a tragic Fourth of July fireworks explosion in Southern California, which claimed the life of a woman in her 20s, injured three others, and set a vehicle ablaze.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday along the 5600 block of D Street in Chino. Police responded to reports of a car fire and discovered several individuals with severe injuries.
Authorities believe the explosion was caused by a large quantity of fireworks igniting, which subsequently led to a vehicle catching fire.
Officials have identified the suspect as 28-year-old Derion Tradon James Jr. from Hesperia. He was apprehended at the scene and later booked into the West Valley Detention Center on charges of manslaughter.
According to jail records, James is being held on a $50,000 bail and is due to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
Four people were taken to a hospital following the explosion, including three adults and one juvenile, NBC reported.
Officials announced Sunday morning that a woman in her 20s had died from her injuries at a local hospital.
The two other injured adults suffered serious injuries but are expected to survive, while the juvenile was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being released to family members.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe a large quantity of fireworks ignited, causing an explosion,” the Chino Police Department said, confirming the blast also caused a vehicle to catch fire.
The investigation remains ongoing.

DCLM Daily Manna 6 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Blessings for Obedience
TOPIC: Blessings for Obedience (DCLM Daily Manna 6 July 2026)
KEY VERSE: And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee – Deuteronomy 28:10
TEXT: Deuteronomy 28:1-14 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
The blessings of God often come with conditions. This is reflected in today’s text. Although God adopted Israel as His chosen people, there were certain standards of behaviour, compliance and worship that would confer the blessings on them. By obeying, they would remain in a right relationship with Him, receive His blessing, and bring glory to His name.
That was the purpose of God for His people. Its fulfilment was conditional upon their obedience. They were to observe strict alignment with the Lord who redeemed them from the tyrannical grip of Egypt: “…if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments…” Having made this general declaration, Moses proceeded to describe the blessings, which would follow obedience. In the light of the subsequent history of these people, we see how literally all these things were fulfilled. How solemn and searching this old-time story is for us!
In Christ, the law as given to Moses is done away with, because He has given us a higher law, which far transcends the former in standard and purity. In reality however, the principles remain. Obedience still results in blessings. It is still when we hearken diligently unto the voice of God, to observe to do His commandments, that we are blessed above all the nations and people of the earth.
With us, also, as with the people of Israel, the divine intention of our exaltation is not that we should act like tyrants over the brethren, people or neighbours around us, and hold them in contempt; but that we should serve them, and lead them into the blessings of redemption and justification.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Unqualified obedience brings unparalleled blessings.

Finally, after more than eighty years of waiting, a Kentucky World War II veteran, who was injured while fighting against Nazi Germany, received one of the United States’ most revered military awards.
Glenn Fisher, a 99-year-old Army veteran, spent 81 years anticipating the day he would be honored with the Purple Heart. On Wednesday, his long wait ended as he was formally acknowledged for the sacrifices he endured on the battlefield.
During an emotional ceremony at Louisville’s Frazier History Museum, Fisher expressed his disbelief and joy over finally receiving the recognition. “I’ve been so excited, I haven’t been able to sleep at night thinking about what a wonderful thing is happening,” he shared. “Sometimes I’d wake up and say, ‘now, is this really true?’ And it is, it’s really true.”
The Purple Heart, which honors U.S. service members who were wounded or killed due to enemy actions, arrives for Fisher just months before his milestone 100th birthday. This recognition comes after several unsuccessful attempts over the years to have his wartime injuries formally acknowledged.
Glenn Fisher, the World War II veteran, showed a heartfelt reaction upon finally receiving the Purple Heart, a recognition that had been due for over eight decades since his wartime injuries. (WDRB)
WHAS11 first reported Fisher’s story in March as he sought to receive the award before turning 100.
According to previous reporting by WHAS11, Fisher enlisted in the Army in 1943 at just 16 years old after obtaining his parents’ permission. He later landed on Utah Beach in France and was wounded on March 25, 1945, while waiting to cross the Rhine River after German artillery struck his unit.
Fisher previously said his injuries were never properly documented during the war, which he said delayed his receiving the Purple Heart.
“Never did hear back from them,” Fisher previously said of one of his early attempts to obtain the medal.
Years later, he tried again but said the Army informed him it could not find sufficient evidence to approve the award.

Despite those setbacks, Fisher continued pursuing the recognition with help from longtime friend Jeff Thoke, who spent years researching Fisher’s military service and compiling hundreds of pages of historical records for military officials.
“He represents the best of America,” Thoke said Wednesday. “We can’t thank him enough for all that he has done. He loves his country; he’s one of the most patriotic men.”
According to previous reporting, Fisher served with the Army’s 556th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Weapons Battalion. He fought during the Battle of the Bulge before being wounded near the Rhine River in the closing months of World War II.

WHAS11 reported Fisher returned to his unit weeks after being wounded, later met Soviet forces at the Elbe River one day before Victory in Europe Day and eventually served as part of the official escort for President Harry S. Truman during Truman’s arrival in Antwerp, Belgium, before returning home.
Wednesday’s ceremony appeared to mark the end of a journey Fisher had spent decades pursuing.
“It’s really true,” he said.
News Media has reached out to the U.S. Army for additional information about Fisher’s Purple Heart but did not immediately receive a response.
