0

In a powerful display of solidarity, community leaders in Bridgeview, Illinois, have introduced a new “Welcome to Little Palestine” sign, symbolizing the unity and strength of the southwest suburban area.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Despite initially receiving hateful messages after the first sign was unveiled, organizers have reinforced their commitment to resilience and pride, bolstered by increased security measures. They are determined to transform this moment into one of empowerment and community spirit.

The sign highlights a thriving corridor of over 200 Arab-owned businesses that span from Bridgeview to Worth, celebrating the vibrant economic and cultural contributions of the Arab-American community.

The second sign was unveiled at Westfield Plaza on 79th Street.

The latest sign was revealed at Westfield Plaza on 79th Street, marking a significant milestone in the community’s journey.

“This unveiling is more than just a sign—it’s a declaration of our identity,” said Rush Darwish, president of the Arab American Business and Professional Association. “In the face of adversity, our community chooses unity, pride, and progress. Little Palestine is a testament to resilience, culture, and economic vitality, and we will continue to advance together.”

Earlier this month, the first sign was unveiled at 83rd Street and Harlem Avenue.

Caitlyn Jenner Seeks Access to Deceased Friend Sophia Hutchins’ Apple Account

0

Caitlyn Jenner has made headlines by seeking access to the Apple account of her deceased friend, Sophia Hutchins, due to an alleged debt of approximately $500,000.

According to a report by TMZ on Saturday, the former Olympic athlete has filed a court order request. Jenner claims that the account managed by her late friend, who also served as her manager, contains valuable work-related information crucial for her business operations.

Adding to the request, Hutchins’ estate, managed by her mother Amy, has also sought access. They argue that the absence of vital data has led to financial setbacks, affecting their ability to fulfill certain obligations.

The legal document notes that without the Apple account, the payment of Hutchins’ and the estate’s income taxes, as well as the management of her assets’ inventories and appraisals, is impossible.

Amy initially approached Apple for access to the account but was informed that a court order would be necessary to proceed.

A rep for Jenner, 76, wasn’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.

Hutchins died after crashing an ATV near Jenner’s $3.5 million condo in Malibu, California, on July 2, 2025. She was 29.

According to TMZ, the businesswoman crashed into a moving car, and her vehicle tumbled down a 350-foot ravine.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Per a creditor’s claim obtained by Page Six earlier this month, Jenner claimed Hutchins owed her $439,095.88 in cash advances, credit card charges, legal fees and shopping sprees leading up to her death.

Per the filing, Hutchins allegedly racked up a bill of $273,000 at several businesses, including eBay, Shopify and 1stdibs.

She also had in $16,000 in debit card debt and around $7,000 in cash advances.

Jenner also cited more than $133,000 that Hutchins owed her for attorneys.

The retired athlete allowed Hutchins access to work credit cards throughout her employment. However, Hutchins was required to pay back any transactions for personal funds.

TMZ reported that Hutchins’ estate allowed the retired athlete’s request.

Newcastle United Explores Second Stadium Location Amid Leazes Park Setback: Key Developments from Saudi Involvement to Player Updates

0

Newcastle’s leadership is actively examining a second potential site in the heart of the city for a new stadium, as revealed by Confidential. While efforts to assess the feasibility of Leazes Park, their favored location, continue, senior officials are now contemplating another option and plan to visit this alternative site shortly. One of the hurdles at Leazes Park is a colony of bats residing in the area.

According to Confidential, a high-level delegation from PIF is expected to convene with the club’s executive team, headed by CEO David Hopkinson, at Matfen Hall later this month. The discussions will prioritize stadium development plans, aiming to decide whether constructing a new venue or renovating the existing St James’ Park will best serve their objectives.

Leazes Park, situated just north of St James’, has long been viewed as the optimal location for a new state-of-the-art stadium. However, the presence of bats presents a challenge, though club officials remain optimistic about overcoming this and other environmental concerns involving local flora and fauna.

To address these issues, the club has engaged a specialized firm to conduct surveys on relocating the bats, while also ensuring compliance with legal requirements. It is important to note that disturbing or harming bats is considered a criminal offense.

A specialist firm has been consulted for surveys on how to relocate the bats, while legal requirements are being considered. It is a criminal offence to intentionally disturb or kill bats.

Chief executive David Hopkinson will meet a senior PIF delegation at Matfen Hall this month for a summit on the club's future

Chief executive David Hopkinson will meet a senior PIF delegation at Matfen Hall this month for a summit on the club’s future

Meanwhile, Hopkinson and chief operating officer, Brad Miller, are working around the clock to present all viable options to the ownership this month.

Hopkinson told Confidential: ‘My job is to develop true optionality. That is why this process takes so long. It’s very easy to say, “Oh, just build it there”. But what needs to happen for that to be possible? It’s labour intensive and very expensive. There are legal, government, heritage, environment and residential considerations. You can’t build somewhere just because you want to.’

Alternative sites within the city area could include Hunters Moor, north of Leazes Park, or the nearby Nuns Moor Park. North East mayor Kim McGuinness is also said to be keen for investment and regeneration in the Arthur’s Hill area, which is only a mile from St James’.

As reported last year, supply-and-demand modelling has shown that a new-build would need a capacity of at least 65,000, but no more than 70,000. An expansion of St James’ could not go beyond 60-62,000 because of architectural limitations.

Will Saudis’ Toon project LIV on?

PIF’s impending withdrawal from their LIV Golf venture will NOT impact Newcastle United.

Rather, sources insist they remain fully committed and that the club falls under their ‘strategic’ portfolio.

The planned presence of PIF’s top brass on Tyneside later this month will reinforce that message and an announcement on a new £200million training ground at Woolsington is set to follow.

The intense discussions over a new stadium or St James’ Park renovation that will take place during the Matfen Hall summit, as reported above, are also an indicator of PIF’s long-term intentions, it is claimed. CEO Hopkinson has been entrusted by the ownership to deliver on those big off-field projects and new commercial deals.

Meanwhile, PIF’s sale of 70 per cent of Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal to the Kingdom Holding Company does not indicate a withdrawal from football investments. Sources say it was always PIF’s objective to take their four Saudi-owned clubs so far before stepping aside.

The importance of Newcastle, not least because of its seat at the Premier League table, means it retains a key standing in the PIF investment portfolio.

Bruno boost for Bournemouth clash

Bruno Guimaraes has a chance of returning to the Newcastle squad this weekend.

It was expected that the Brazilian would almost certainly miss the visit of Bournemouth after Eddie Howe revealed his comeback from a hamstring injury had been delayed after he contracted mumps.

However, Confidential understands there is hope that Guimaraes could at least make the bench, and that would be a huge lift given how badly his absence has been felt. More will be known in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will NOT be selling their captain to a Saudi-owned club, despite reports in Brazil linking him with a move. There is no appetite to lose the midfielder and no incentive to sell any player to a club associated with PIF, given UEFA spending rules do not allow for profit to be calculated in such deals.

Were, in the future, Al-Hilal or any Saudi club to come under full ownership of a non-PIF related party, then sales would become more viable.

The truth about Gordon’s future

The 11th-hour collapse of Anthony Gordon’s proposed move to Liverpool in 2024 would likely be a factor in easing his passage out of Newcastle this summer, should he communicate a desire to leave.

As it stands, the England winger has not told club chiefs or football staff of a want to go. Sources insist he remains committed to the club and has four years left on his contract.

There is interest from a host of clubs, some of it longstanding, and were Newcastle not to make the Champions League (they are 10 points off the top five with six games remaining) then offers would be anticipated. Bayern Munich are among the admirers but, so far, there has been no club-to-club contact with any would-be suitor.

It was in the summer of 2024 that, amid Newcastle’s PSR panic, club chiefs spoke to Liverpool about a deal for Gordon. That looked set to happen and the player, away with England at Euro 2024, believed he was on his way, only for Newcastle to pivot and sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh in their effort to avoid a Premier League points deduction.

However, the impact on Gordon was lasting – he admitted last year that thinking he was being sold took a mental toll – and Eddie Howe and his staff had to work hard to ‘bring him back in the building’. There is a feeling among some that a repeat would best be avoided, were he keen to go.

But unlike Alexander Isak last year, the 25-year-old has not indicated he is looking elsewhere. Sources have also stressed that some of the fees quoted in recent days, around the £60m mark, are way short of the club’s valuation of a player who will likely start for England at the World Cup this summer.

For now, Gordon is focused on the last six games of the season. His future will likely be revisited once Newcastle’s final league position and transfer plans and budgets are finalised.

Howe’s new title

Andy Howe’s title within Newcastle’s recruitment setup has changed.

The 31-year-old, who is the manager’s nephew, is now a senior football executive, having been the club’s assistant head of first-team recruitment.

However, Howe’s role remains the same and the tweaking of titles is more to do with sporting director Ross Wilson tidying up the structure within St James’ Park.

Harrison to leave Newcastle

Alfie Harrison signed from Manchester City in 2024 but did not make a senior appearance for the club

Finally, Alfie Harrison is set to leave Newcastle this summer.

Signed from Manchester City in 2024 in a deal almost exclusively made up of performance-related add-ons, there was much excitement around the midfielder.

However, with his contract set to expire, Harrison will be moving on.

Despite being around the first-team squad during summer friendlies, the 20-year-old will depart without making his competitive debut.

Breaking News: Gunfire Erupts at Statesboro Apartment Complex, Suspect Arrested

In Statesboro, Georgia, a man is facing charges after a series of gunshots disrupted the peace at a local apartment complex. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday at the Caribe Court apartments, where 22-year-old Hunter Quinton allegedly fired his weapon multiple times, leading to the evacuation of nearby residents.

Upon arriving at the scene, Statesboro Police officers were met with gunfire from Quinton. In an effort to resolve the situation without further violence, a police negotiator engaged Quinton over the phone, attempting to persuade him to surrender peacefully. However, when these negotiations did not yield the desired result, the police SWAT team resorted to deploying chemical agents into the apartment. Despite this measure, Quinton remained inside.

Eventually, authorities entered the premises and successfully apprehended Quinton. He is now facing serious charges, including criminal damage to property in the first degree and reckless conduct. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, though the motives behind Quinton’s actions remain unclear.

Officials later entered the apartment and took him into custody. Quinton is now facing charges of criminal damage to property in the first degree and reckless conduct.

Authorities did not report any injuries or what prompted Quinton to discharge his gun.

Australians Commemorate Anzac Day with Ceremonies at Gallipoli, Across the Middle East, and Nationwide

  • Ben Roberts-Smith attends Gold Coast service while on bail over alleged war crimes

In Turkey and throughout Australia, people rose at the break of day to honor Anzac Day, marking the 111th anniversary of the historic Gallipoli landings.

In northwest Turkey, officials and visitors from Australia, New Zealand, and Turkey came together for a poignant ceremony. This gathering took place at 5:30 AM near the very beach where the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, known as the Anzacs, first made their landing on April 25, 1915.

The hour-long service featured somber hymns, heartfelt prayers, and the laying of wreaths by attendees, which included representatives from numerous countries worldwide.

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs reported that nearly 1,800 individuals attended this annual dawn service at Gallipoli.

The Gallipoli campaign, part of a British-led initiative to topple the Ottoman Empire, ended in failure, resulting in tens of thousands of casualties on both sides over the eight-month-long battle.

It aimed to secure a naval route from the Mediterranean Sea to Istanbul through the Dardanelles, and knock the Ottomans out of the war.

The battle helped forge Australia and New Zealand’s national identities as well as friendship with their former adversary, Turkey.

“From great suffering, understanding can grow. From former enemies, friendships can blossom. The relationship between Turkey, Australia and New Zealand is built on remembrance, respect and recognition of our shared humanity,” said New Zealand Governor-General Cindy Kiro during the opening address.

Anzac Day around the world

Anzac Day now serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made in defence of the nation, and of the shared values that continue to unite Australians.

Australia’s embassies, high commissions and consulates around the world all commemorate Anzac Day.

“In the Middle East, several embassies will mark the occasion despite being unable to host usual events due to the conflict,” the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

While Australian embassies in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Iraq encouraged Australians living locally to stand at dawn to honour those who served.

There are about 115,000 Australians in the Middle East with about 25,000 in the UAE alone.

Around Australia, dawn services, marches and commemorative events are held to recognise and honour those who have served.

But as thousands gathered to pay their solemn respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, a small group of “louts” were determined to make their voices heard.

Hecklers urged to ‘show respect’ in Sydney

Police have confirmed a 24-year-old man was arrested for “an alleged act of nuisance” during the service in Sydney, with others moved on.

The acknowledgement of Country by Pastor and Uncle Ray Minniecon was disrupted by an interjection of booing.

After the people disturbing the peace were quieted, a chorus of applause and cheering rang for an extended period to show support for Uncle Minniecon.

“We do have laws to try and deter people from this but it seems like these people still want to be lawless,” Uncle Minniecon said after the ceremony.

“They just need to realise their place in this country … and show their deepest respect.”

PM reflects on service and sacrifice in Canberra

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attended the dawn service at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, along with some 35,000 people gathered.

He thanked veterans for their service, acknowledging that in the current political climate peace “seems elusive”.

“What their legacy proves to us is that … it is always worth fighting for,” he told attendees.

Ben Roberts-Smith attends Anzac Day service while on bail

Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith, now an accused war criminal, has attended an Anzac Day service in Queensland while on bail over war crime charges.

Roberts-Smith denies the accusations.

He joined thousands at the Currumbin Beach service, shaking hands and posing for photos with fellow attendees after the service.

Speaking after the service, the veteran said he always intended on engaging in today’s commemorations.

“Everyone should be reflecting and commemorating the service of all of those Australians that have given us the country that we live in,” he said.

‘Disgraceful’ behaviour at Perth Service

In Western Australia, large crowds gathered at At Kings Park in Perth as dawn services got underway, held several hours after the eastern states due to the time difference.

A Welcome to Country delivered by Whadjuk Noongar Elder and veteran Di Ryder was briefly interrupted by booing.

MC Stephen Barton, chief executive of the RSL WA, condemned the behaviour as “one of the most disgraceful things” he had heard, drawing strong applause from the crowd.

Communities unite across Australia at dawn

Across the rest of the country, crowds gathered standing shoulder to shoulder before dawn broke, in quiet reflection.

Tourists, locals, and ringers gathered outside the Daly Waters pub for a Dawn Service in the remote Northern Territory town, which is located about six hours south-east of Darwin.

And in the early morning in Tasmania and Brisbane CBD, crowds gathered at Hobart’s Cenotaph and Anzac Square in Brisbane’s CBD.

Commemorations are expected to continue throughout the country today.

Shocking Discovery: Cole Allen’s Secret Inventor Past Exposed Before Alleged Trump Assassination Plot

0

Recently surfaced footage has offered a surprising glimpse into the past of the gunman accused of attempting a violent intrusion at a press dinner, allegedly with the intent to assassinate President Donald Trump.

The video, dating back a decade and acquired by Fox News Digital, features Cole Allen, who is now 31 years old. In this footage, Allen is seen showcasing his invention at the “Aging into the Future” conference, an event co-sponsored by St. Barnabas Senior Services in Los Angeles. During the conference, he is surrounded by fellow innovators as he presents a prototype for an emergency brake designed for wheelchairs. The device, constructed from simple PVC piping, was described by engineering experts as basic and not particularly sophisticated for a senior at Caltech.

This video starkly contrasts with the image of an angry radical now accused of trying to force his way into the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue NW. Authorities allege this was part of a shocking plot to assassinate Trump administration officials during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The footage reveals a very different side to Allen, who is otherwise being depicted through law enforcement interviews with his siblings and his writings in a manifesto. This portrayal is at odds with the narrative suggested by his past.

In response to this revelation, President Trump commented to Fox News on Sunday, reflecting on the nature of such plots, “You know, these assassins, they seem to be high IQ people, but they’re crazy.”

The FBI has now identified Allen as the suspect in the shooting Saturday night at the Washington Hilton, with his brother reporting to law enforcement authorities that Allen’s manifesto detailed allegedly deadly plans at the weekend gathering for journalists and administration officials.

Trump told Fox News, “The guy is a sick guy. When you read his manifesto, he hates Christians. That’s one thing for sure. He hates Christians, a hatred.”

Trump said his family raised alarm bells with law enforcement.

“He was a very troubled guy,” he said, later also calling him “disturbed.”

According to law enforcement officials, Allen also descended into anti-Trump hate, attending at least one of the three “No Kings” protests organized over the past year by groups including Democratic-leading nonprofits, like Indivisible, MoveOn and American Federation of Teachers, and a network of socialist organizations, including the People’s Forum, the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition, funded by an American tech tycoon, Neville Roy Singham, living in Shanghai.

Cole Allen speaks in a news segment.

Almost a decade ago, Allen appeared to have very different priorities.

In a news segment published in March 2017 by WABC in Los Angeles, Allen appears as a disciplined student at the California Institute of Technology, an elite institution known for admitting students with near-perfect test scores and training top-tier engineers and scientists.

Speaking in a flat, measured tone, Allen walked a reporter through the mechanics of his device, explaining how it could stabilize a wheelchair and prevent it from skidding. “The wheelchair brakes tend to lock the wheels but don’t actually lock the chair to the ground,” he explained.

A PVC pipe contraption is attached to a wheelchair.

Kneeling beside the wheels of a wheelchair and fiddling with an assembly of QVC pipes between the wheels, he continued, “The deal with this is to prevent it from moving at all.”

A year later, Allen earned a mechanical engineering degree. While in college, he completed a competitive summer research fellowship at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, contributing to astrophysics work, according to his LInkedIn profile. He also developed complex technical projects, including a physics-based role-playing shooter game called “First Law,” as well as robotic systems and later another intricate game, “Bohrdom,” released on the Steam platform. Gaming experts said his “Bohrdom” game was very basic in its technical level.

After Caltech, Allen held down a job for only about a year before starting work as a tutor with C2 Education in 2020 and going on to earn a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills, in 2025. C2 Education recognized Allen a “teacher of the month” in late 2024, according to a social media post.

Allen now faces federal charges including using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer, with additional charges expected.

Revitalize Your Muscles Over 55: Top 5 Standing Exercises That Outperform Traditional Ab Workouts

0

Building strength requires both time and commitment.

Strength training should be a priority as we age, primarily to maintain and restore muscle mass. After the age of 30, our muscle mass naturally begins to decline, making it crucial to preserve it for an active and independent lifestyle. Everyday activities rely on strength: strong legs and knees are vital for bending and walking, while strong arms are essential for lifting and carrying. From cycling and standing at a sports event to bowling, strength is key to enjoying life fully. Regular exercise is therefore indispensable.

If you’re unsure where to begin, we have some guidance for you. Terry Tateossian, the Founder and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Coach, Trainer, and Nutritionist for Women 40+ at THOR – The House of Rose, offers insights. She has completed extensive advanced training focused on women’s health and middle-aged weight management. Tateossian recommends five standing exercises that can effectively rebuild muscle more rapidly than traditional ab routines for those over 55.

Tateossian explains, “Building muscle requires more than just mechanical load, progressive overload, proper form, and consistency. Developing genuine strength takes time.” She adds, “Standing exercises are highly functional and effective for building comprehensive body strength. Unlike floor-based ab exercises, which often isolate muscles, standing exercises focus on building practical strength that is applicable to real life.”

“Muscle is not built through mechanical load, progressive overload, proper form, and consistency. You need time to develop true strength,” says Tateossian. “Standing exercises are one of the best and most functionally effective ways to build true full-body strength. Floor based ab work tends to isolate muscles in a way that doesn’t necessarily translate to real life. And the goal really is to build usable strength, not just muscles.”

Below, Tateossian shares five standing moves to add to your routine.

Dumbbell Deadlifts

  1. Stand tall, feet hip-width apart, holding a heavy dumbbell in each hand in front of your thighs.
  2. Make sure your legs are mostly straight with just a slight bend in the knees.
  3. Hinge at the hips to lower the dumbbells down your legs and toward the floor.
  4. Keep your back flat and the dumbbells close to your body when lowering, feeling a solid stretch in the hamstrings.
  5. Activate your glutes and hamstrings as you rise.
  6. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 reps, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Bodyweight Squats

“Squats are a compound functional movement that targets the glutes, quads, back, and core. Squats build foundational lower-body muscle and are directly tied to longevity, independence and metabolic health,” Tateossian explains.

  1. Stand tall, feet shoulder-width apart on the floor.
  2. Extend your arms ahead of you or place your hands on your hips.
  3. Bend at the knees and hips as you lower into a squat.
  4. Descend until your thighs are parallel to the floor.
  5. Press through your heels to rise back up to standing.
  6. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 reps, sticking with a 3010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Romanian Deadlifts

“Another compound functional movement, [the RDL] targets the glutes, hamstrings, back, and core,” Tateossian says. “RDLs also create a deep and controlled tension in the hamstrings and glutes, which is key to protecting the lower back and rebuilding muscle.”

  1. Stand tall, feet hip-width apart, with a dumbbell in each hand.
  2. Bend your knees slightly and hold the weights in front of your thighs.
  3. Press your hips back as you lower the dumbbells down your leg. Maintain a straight back as you do so.
  4. Squeeze your glutes to return to the start position.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 reps, sticking with a 3010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Walking Lunges

“This exercise is great for building single-leg strength, balance, and coordination which are essential for real-life movement,” Tateossian tells us.

  1. Stand tall.
  2. Step forward with one foot.
  3. Lower into a lunge until your knee almost touches the ground.
  4. Maintain a tall posture and keep your front knee aligned with your foot.
  5. Rise back up and step forward with the other foot.
  6. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 10 reps on each side, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Landmine Rows

“These strengthen the upper back, posture muscles, shoulders, and basically the entire upper body, which is critical for alignment, shoulder health, and overall health,” Tateossian says.

  1. Set up a barbell in a landmine attachment.
  2. Stand facing the bar with your feet hip-width apart.
  3. Hinge at your hips, leaning your torso forward and keeping your back flat.
  4. Hold onto the bar near the weighted end with both hands.
  5. Pull the bar toward your torso, driving your elbows back.
  6. Squeeze your shoulder blades.
  7. Return the bar to the start position.
  8. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 10 reps on each side, sticking with a 2010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Unmasking the Hero: The Shocking Truth Behind Morgan Metzer’s Alleged Heroism in a Brutal Attack

0

On January 1, 2021, Morgan Metzer nearly faced a tragic start to the new year.

In the early hours of that morning, an intruder wearing a mask invaded her home in Canton, Georgia. The assailant restrained, choked, and sexually assaulted her, as detailed in a statement from the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.

“I felt his finger on the gun’s trigger,” Morgan recounted in an interview with Fox 5. “I thought to myself, ‘This is it. I’m not going to survive this.'”

Despite the ordeal, Morgan lived through the attack, though she was left terrified and exposed on her porch. It was then that her ex-husband, Rodney Metzer, arrived at the scene and appeared to rescue her, according to the report.

However, Rodney’s actions were far from heroic. Investigators revealed that he orchestrated this heinous act in a twisted attempt to rekindle their relationship. Morgan’s harrowing experience is captured in the Lifetime movie Gaslit By My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story, currently available on Netflix.

Here’s everything you need to know about the disturbing real-life crime:

Who Are Rodney Metzer and Morgan Metzer?

Rodney and Morgan’s love story began when she was just 14 in what she’d later tell 48 Hours was love at first sight.

According to Morgan, “It was scary how fast it was.”

Rodney treated her like a “princess,” she said, and the pair got married in 2009.

But the couple soon encountered their share of hardships. Rodney’s younger brother Kevin died of leukemia, then their first child—named in Kevin’s honor—died from a congenital heart defect just weeks after birth, the outlet reported.

After welcoming twins, Rodney struggled to hold down a job and Morgan told 48 Hours that he became physically, mentally and sexually abusive under the growing strain.Yet, Morgan said somehow Rodney always found a way to put the blame back on Morgan—even once allegedly claiming to their children that she’d thrown him down the stairs after he rolled down himself.

By 2020, she filed for divorce.

What Happened to Morgan Metzer?

With her children visiting family, Morgan decided to spend New Year’s Eve 2020 with her best friend Nichole Stabasefski. But, Morgan said she was feeling exhausted and decided to call it an early night, returning home on her own.

Then, just after midnight on Jan. 1, 2021, the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office said a masked intruder, carrying a gun, came into her bedroom. The intruder had a low, distorted voice, which Morgan told Fox 5 was similar to Batman.

“Every woman’s worse fear is to wake up to that,” Morgan recalled to the outlet. “That voice still to this day just haunts me when I sleep.”

Prosecutors said the assailant struck her with the butt of the gun and tried to strangle her twice.

“Once to the point I barely had any breath left,” Morgan told Fox 5. “I thought it was going to be my last breath.”

The attacker tied her hands behind her back with zip ties, then sexually assaulted her. At one point during the brutal attack, Morgan told 48 Hours that the man told her, “You’re going to miss your husband.”

She explained, “I said, ‘No, don’t hurt my husband.’”

After demanding her phone and the passcode, the attacker—dressed in all black—put a pillowcase on her head and walked her out to the back porch, per the news outlet, instructing her not to get up until she heard two car honks. He then vanished into the night.

Rodney Metzer Returned to Scene to Rescue Morgan Metzer

Terrified that he’d come back to kill her, Morgan lay motionless on the porch for 40 minutes until Rodney arrived, somehow managing to find her on the back deck.

“Instantly heard Rod’s voice—‘Oh baby, what happened? What happened?’” she told Fox 5. “‘I’m so sorry.’”

Rodney called 911.

“Somebody broke in over here,” he told the dispatcher in a recording of the call replayed on 48 Hours. “She was on the back porch. Uh, and—and the back door was wide open.”

Morgan was heard in the background of the conversation pleading, “Please don’t leave, Rod.”

Law enforcement arrived a few minutes later, but they were curious why Rodney just happened at his ex-wife’s home in the middle of the night.

Police said he told authorities that he’d been getting ready for bed that night when someone had come to his window.

“He was brushing his teeth when he heard knocking on his window,” Sgt. Dakota Lyvers told 48 Hours. “That knocking was accompanied by a voice in which he could only decipher the word ‘Morgan’ was being said.”

Concerned, Rodney said he rushed to her home. When Morgan didn’t answer the door, he told deputies he went to the back porch and found her naked and terrified.

Evidence Links Rodney Metzer to The Attack

At the scene, officers separated the pair, according to the 48 Hours special. While safely away from her ex-husband, Morgan confessed that she believed Rodney may have been her attacker, especially after the assailant made that comment about her husband.

“When he said … ‘you’re going to miss your husband,’ I said, ‘no, don’t hurt my husband. I love him very much.’ And I don’t know what made me do that,” she explained to 48 Hours. “But at that exact moment is when … the mood of the room changed. I knew I was going to live.”

Investigators soon found more evidence as well. According to the district attorney’s office, zip ties matching the ones used to bind Morgan were found in his apartment, along with surveillance footage of him buying the supplies at Lowe’s Home Improvement. Officers also found a handgun in his vehicle.

During a review of surveillance footage from his apartment, they saw footage of Rodney coming home not long after the attack and then leaving a few minutes later wearing a completely different set of clothes, prosecutors said.

They also found searches on his cell phone and laptop for “how to change the sound of your voice” and “how long it takes to choke someone unconscious,” according to the statement.

Investigators learned that in the days leading up to the attack, Rodney falsely claimed that he was dying of pancreatic cancer in a bid to try to win his ex-wife’s sympathy. Initially, the ploy worked and Morgan allowed him to sleep on the couch, but on Dec. 31, she asked him to begin relying on support from other family members, 48 Hours reported.

“This man is a master manipulator,” Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe said in a statement from prosecutors. “In the days leading up to this attack he faked a cancer diagnosis in an attempt to gain sympathy from his ex-wife. When that didn’t work, he created a convoluted plan that the investigators in this case and our office truly believe involved a plot to kill her and then himself. When he couldn’t go through with that plan, he instead devised a new plan to rescue her. Fortunately, Sheriff’s Office investigators saw through this scheme and quickly arrested the defendant.”

Where is Rodney Metzer Now?

In August 2021, Rodney pleaded guilty to 14 charges including kidnapping, home invasion, armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and false imprisonment in connection to the scheme, prosecutors said.

As part of a plea deal, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison and another 45 years of probation.

During the sentencing, Morgan addressed her ex in an emotional victim impact statement.

“Rod, not only will this statement be to my attacker, but it’ll also be my last words to whom I thought was the love of my life,” she said, while re-reading the statement to 48 Hours. “The last four years being married to you was like living with a monster that constantly tried to break me down and fence me in. … It was a blessing in disguise. … I can now walk with the confidence knowing the pain you have given me is turned into power.”

Rodney is currently serving out his sentence at the Baldwin State Prison, according to jail records reviewed by .

Democrat Firmly Maintains Stance Amidst Criticism from MAGA Supporters

A Democratic lawmaker remained unyielding in his anti-MAGA stance shortly after an armed individual attempted to breach security and target officials from the Trump administration.

At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night, a 31-year-old teacher from California, Cole Tomas Allen, attempted to dash past a security checkpoint. Armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives, his actions raised immediate alarm.

Allen exchanged gunfire with Secret Service personnel, hitting one officer’s bulletproof vest before being subdued and arrested. Fortunately, the agent is expected to recover fully, and no other injuries were reported.

The following morning, Maryland Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin shared his experiences from the dinner in an interview with CNN.

Journalist Dana Bash questioned Raskin, stating, “You’ve often expressed strong criticism against the president, similar to many Democrats. Does an incident like this make you reconsider your rhetoric?”

Seemingly taken aback, Raskin replied: ‘What rhetoric do you have in mind?’

‘Just talking about the fact that he is terrible for this country and so on and so forth. I understand that that’s your democratic right, but overall, do you have a responsibility?’ Bash then asked.

Before she could finish the question, Raskin said: ‘I have no personal problem with Donald Trump at all. I mean, I talk about the policies of this administration, the authoritarianism like we saw on display in Minneapolis.’

The congressman from Maryland went on to discuss Alex Pretti and Renee Good, the American citizens who were fatally shot by ICE agents during immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis, as well as people who have died in ICE custody.

‘I’m talking about policies. I don’t personalize it, and I certainly have never called the press the enemy of the people,’ Raskin continued.

That part of the congressman’s statement likely alluded to the shooter’s targeted event, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which brings together journalists and politicians at a black-tie gala every year.

Although Raskin denied making personal attacks against the president or inciting political violence with his rhetoric, he has been highly vocal in his critiques against the Trump administration.

At an April 16 congressional hearing for people who were separated from their children by ICE , the Democratic representative said: ‘This administration is focused on mass arrests, mass detention and deportation that are dividing our country in unprecedented ways.’

‘Federal agents simply started indiscriminately rounding up immigrants and American citizens who looked like immigrants, according to the agents,’ Raskin continued.

‘They don’t target the worst of the worst, they are the worst of the worst,’ the representative then said, referencing Trump’s campaign promise to go after the ‘worst of the worst’ undocumented immigrants.

Raskin’s last comment was heavily criticized by people who accused him of unfairly targeting law enforcement officials responsible for immigration enforcement.

Raskin has been criticized for comments in which he vehemently criticized ICE. He was also the lead manager of Trump's second impeachment trial in 2021

The representative was also the lead manager of Trump’s second impeachment trial in 2021. The case was unsuccessful, and the Senate acquitted Trump.

Other Democrats have recently tapped Raskin’s expertise in that realm as they evaluate fresh efforts to impeach the president a third time or invoke the 25th Amendment.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner descended into chaos as top administration officials were rushed to safety by Secret Service agents after the suspected gunman attempted to break into the event armed with multiple weapons.

Kerry Kennedy, the sister of Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr, was sitting next to Raskin at the dinner. She described her harrowing experience in a post on X shortly after the shooting and praised Raskin for ‘heroically’ protecting her.

‘I hit the floor at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner mid conversation with Jamie, who heroically protected me, whispering, “You’re ok, you’re ok, you’re ok,”’ Kerry wrote.

She added that her host from the Boston Globe lay on the ground while ‘furiously’ taking notes and that thousands of people in attendance took cover under tables and chairs before Secret Service agents and security secured and cleared the room.

‘It was terrifying. But I am still grateful to the brave Secret Service, to my friends at the Boston Globe, and most especially to Jamie,’ Kerry concluded her tweet.

The shooter is believed to have been targeting members of the Trump administration, according to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

Blanche said officials believe the suspect traveled by train from California to Chicago and then on to Washington. He checked into the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the dinner was being hosted, days before the event.

Evidence found on Allen’s electronic devices points towards the theory that he intended to target administration members in attendance at the dinner.

‘It does appear that he did in fact set out to target folks who work in the administration, likely including the president,’ Blanche told NBC’s Meet the Press.

The suspect is believed to have purchased the firearms he carried within the last couple of years, Blanche said. He is not being cooperative and is expected to face multiple charges on Monday.

‘He failed,’ Blanche said. ‘Law enforcement did their jobs.’

Federal prosecutors have announced that Allen is being charged with two counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon.

He is expected to be arraigned in federal court on Monday.

If convicted, Allen could face 20 years in jail for the assault, while the weapons charges come with a minimum of ten years with a possibility of life behind bars if fired.

‘It is clear, based upon what we know so far, this individual was intent on doing as much harm and as much damage as he could,’ United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said.

‘There will be many more charges based upon the information that we are learning in this very fluid situation,’ she added.

Cops swarmed on Allen’s parents’ $877,000 home on Saturday night shortly after he was arrested.

Officials said Allen had no prior criminal record and was not previously known to law enforcement in Washington, DC.

He is one of four siblings, including two sisters, Stephanie and Arviana, and a brother, Gabriel, according to publicly available information.

Allen earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and later a Master of Science in Computer Science from a California State University.

On LinkedIn, he describes himself as: ‘A mechanical engineer and computer scientist by degree, independent game developer by experience, teacher by birth.’
