Rob Rinder, a well-known presenter on Good Morning Britain, has shared the sad news of his father’s passing at the age of 73. The popular TV judge, who is 48 years old, conveyed that his father, David, passed away while surrounded by family. David’s death was the result of a struggle with Lewy body dementia. This condition is a progressive neurological disorder that affects cognition, movement, sleep, and behavior. It is one of the most prevalent forms of progressive dementia, along with Alzheimer’s disease.

Accompanying a touching childhood photograph with David, Rob expressed, “My dad died yesterday aged 73. I wasn’t sure whether to share this but if it brings attention to an illness too few people understand, perhaps it belongs here.” He reflected on their relationship as complicated yet filled with love, emphasizing that despite any differences, he was always certain of his father’s pride in him.

He added, “A London cabbie and lifelong Spurs supporter, he was there for every one of my brothers’ and his grandsons’ football matches.

“I once represented him at the Carriage Office for bad driving; I loved him but the prosecution had a case… My parents divorced when I was little so I did not grow up with him at home.”

“We were very different men. I loved opera and all its drama; he loved Tottenham and cigarettes. We both took people as we found them and we both loved women, though in rather different ways. I never once doubted his pride in me.”

Rob added: “When I came out he responded with magnificent indifference: I was still his son, there was nothing else to discuss. In the last years of his life Jewish Care became his home, a place where dignity and tenderness were practised every day.

“Walid and Tosin, among so many others there, cared for him and came to kiss him goodbye. A Jewish man, held in his final days by people of different faiths: a quiet reminder that what is sacred in us is also what we share.

“He died with his family around him, loved and held to the last. Funny, beautifully flawed, loving and my dad. Lewy body dementia took him far too young.”

The presenter went on: “It made the familiar strange and the certain uncertain. Dementia can obscure a person but it does not erase them.

“At least one in ten people living with dementia has Lewy body’s, around 125,000 people in the UK yet it remains poorly understood, frequently missed & desperately under-researched.

“Please learn its name, learn its signs and if you can support the work to change that.”

Rob and his younger brother Craig were raised by their single mother Angela Cohen following their parents’ divorce. Born into a Jewish family, Rob was awarded an MBE in 2021 alongside his mother, Angela, in recognition of their services to Holocaust education.

Before “Lanterns” even graced screens, it faced a daunting challenge: distinguishing itself from Ryan Reynolds’ much-maligned “Green Lantern” movie of 2011. Known for its over-the-top space operatics and overwhelming use of glowing green visuals, the film set a low bar. This posed the question of how “Lanterns” could harness the thrilling elements of the Green Lantern comics without echoing the previous movie’s excesses.

Thankfully, “Lanterns” strikes a balance. By weaving humor and astute dialogue that acknowledge the comic book’s inherent quirks, it manages to sidestep past mistakes. Audiences are treated to intriguing ring tricks like backup personality copies while grandiose displays of power are infrequent. This measured approach is bolstered by Guy Gardner’s prior demonstrations in “Superman,” which illustrated the DCU power ring’s capabilities. Instead, “Lanterns” occasionally showcases casual uses of the ring, turning it into tools like fake currency or everyday conveniences, with Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) adding levity through his unceremonial flights.

The series thrives on its detective drama essence, aligning perfectly with Hal Jordan’s low-key superhero style. His reluctance to don the Green Lantern suit unless absolutely necessary contributes to the narrative’s tension. When Hal finally employs the power ring in a significant way—thwarting an alien’s self-destruction—it marks a milestone within the storyline, both visually and narratively impactful.

Even had “Lanterns” chosen a heavy reliance on special effects, the risk of drawing links to the 2011 film would have been minimal. While “Green Lantern” was a brightly colored, sci-fi spectacle, “Lanterns” adopts a more restrained, atmospheric approach reminiscent of a “True Detective”-style buddy cop drama. The series thrives on its gritty aesthetics and the intricate, mysterious storytelling flair of Damon Lindelof.

Still, in its efforts to establish its own identity, “Lanterns” has clearly put an impressive amount of work into its understated aesthetics. Perhaps the best comparison point is the brief glimpses the series premiere offers of Hal’s Green Lantern outfit: it’s a far cry from Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern costume (which probably shouldn’t have been greenlit in any sense of the term). Of course, the “Lanterns” trailer had everyone saying the same thing about the show’s Green Lantern suit — namely, that its color scheme isn’t bright enough. You can never please everyone, right?

Originally shuttered in June due to safety issues, the mall’s location at 76th Street and Cicero Avenue remains a focal point for change.

This site is earmarked for transformation into an industrial hub, complete with a public gathering space.

On Thursday, developers unveiled a bold $200 million proposal to city officials, aiming to breathe new life into the former Ford City Mall grounds.

Chicago-based Kurv Industrial wants to turn the property on the Southwest Side into an industrial complex that would include a public plaza, a new CTA bus stop and other enhancements.

Ford City Mall closed back in June over concerns of a defective fire suppression system and health and safety issues.

Alderman. Derrick Curtis says the proposal has been revised based on community feedback.

But it has received some pushback over concerns of industrial traffic and noise, if City Council were to rezone the mall from a shopping district to industrial.

Protesters rallied outside City Hall Thursday morning ahead of the plan commission meeting.

“This is a big problem in that area,” Esau Chavez of West Lawn Conservation Group said. “If you go down Cicero or Pulaski, from 87th to 63rd, you’re in gridlock. Bringing in more warehouses is not going to help the congestion in the community there.”

“Make sure that it remains a commercial activity and a hub for the South Side of Chicago,” Glenford Flowers Jr. of the Southside Flourish Movement. “It is 2.5 miles away from Midway Airport. There’s so much unbelievable amounts of imagination when it comes to economic ideas that could benefit not only the tourism industry in Chicago but the South Side, as well.”

If approved Thursday, the proposal would still need to be approved by the Zoning Committee before heading to the full City Council for a vote.

The San Diego Padres have been anxiously waiting to hear the answer to one of the most pressing questions this season: When will their star pitcher, Joe Musgrove, make his return to the mound?

At last, fans and followers might have a hint to quell their curiosity.

Well, sort of.

In a serendipitous moment captured on video by YouTuber and popular Twitch sensation FaZe Rug, Musgrove was cornered in a restaurant. The chance encounter was filled with excitement as the content creator, a die-hard Padres supporter, inquired directly about Musgrove’s comeback.

Musgrove, a seasoned pitcher known for his roots in El Cajon just a stone’s throw from San Diego, shared that he was about to embark on a rehab stint. While he remained tight-lipped about the exact timeline, he hinted to the streamer that his return is edging closer, saying it’s “within the weeks here.”

It stands to reason that the Padres ace will make it back to the rotation in time for the final postseason push.

Musgrove has been working his way back from having offseason Tommy John Surgery in 2024 and was expected to pitch for San Diego this season.

However, during an exhibition spring training game, Musgrove’s return suffered a major setback after throwing 60 pitches over two-plus innings.

The Padres’ right-handed pitcher then attempted to throw a bullpen session on March 8, but felt some discomfort and was shut down once again.

In July, he began ramping back up, tossing throwing bullpen sessions and was sent out for his first rehab assignment on August 4.

Musgrove has made three starts during his rehab. In his most recent start, Musgrove threw 4 ⅔ innings, striking out five, but allowed nine hits and five runs.

Since the All-Star break, San Diego has played much better baseball. They are 20-12 since the midsummer classic, while sitting in second place in the National League West. The Padres currently hold the final wild card spot with a 67-61 record.

But Musgrove may be needed to hold down that spot. The Arizona Diamondbacks are just one game back, with a slew of others not far behind.

Influencer Santos Salazar has broken his silence following his recent release from jail.

“I am feeling very blessed and grateful to be with my family again,” Salazar said in a TikTok video filmed alongside his attorney Nicholas Rosenberg. “I want to thank you for your service, what you have done for us and our family. Again, I feel like this opportunity to be out here in this free world, I’m going to take it very serious.”

Salazar, who welcomed a newborn with model Brianna Olsen in July, found himself embroiled in legal troubles when he was arrested on August 13 on accusations of attempted murder. However, four days later, he regained his freedom. This came after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office opted not to file charges, as confirmed by jail records examined by Oxygen.

Why Was Santos Salazar Released From Jail?

Chief Venusse D. Dunn of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Communications shed light on the decision, explaining to Oxygen that the case had been returned to law enforcement officials for additional investigation.

In a TikTok video, Rosenberg revealed that he had proactively written to the District Attorney’s Office. His letter emphatically urged them to dismiss the charges entirely and to reject the case.

“After spending an entire day in court,” Rosenberg shared, “the district attorney decided to reject the case.” He elaborated, “This decision came after they evaluated the police report, reviewed my letter, and concluded that no charges would be filed based on the presented facts.”

What Was Santos Salazar Accused of?

The arrest stemmed from a Aug. 13 call to police related to a “domestic violence investigation,” a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told Oxygen.

Police were called to a home in the 3500 block of Wilshire Blvd. around 9:39 p.m. that night.

After investigation by detectives in the Olympic Division, Salazar was taken into custody and booked on charges of attempted murder. 

Police declined to provide any additional details about the allegations.

Brianna Olsen Calls Allegations Against Santos Salazar a “Big Misunderstanding”

Olsen told TMZ on her way to visit Salazar at the jail that the couple was hoping to keep the details private.

“We think the charge is too harsh for the situation,” she added, while holding the couple’s son Sunday Ray in a baby carrier on her chest. “I think when everyone hears like what actually happened, like, they wouldn’t agree that it would be attempted murder.”

In another interview with the outlet just before heading into court for Salazar’s arraignment on Aug. 17, she described the arrest as just “a big misunderstanding.”

“He’s being accused of something he didn’t do,” she added. “So, that’s always hard to deal with.”

Though she declined to get into the specific allegations she said “several things” had led to Salazar’s arrest that night.

“Santos is only 21 years old. He’s definitely misunderstood, especially in this situation,” she continued. “So you know, we want him home. We have a newborn. We want to just have him home so that, you know, he can he can learn from this and just never go back.”

According to Olsen, Salazar was eager to be released from jail. 

“He cannot wait to come home, be with his son, be with his family,” she told TMZ. “He deeply. deeply regrets like all the circumstances that went down that night that led to his arrest.”

She added that she was not seeking a restraining order against him. 

Salazar and Olsen have amassed a large social media following on platforms including Snapchat and TikTok, frequently documenting their lives together.

Lindsay Clancy’s attorney acknowledges the tragic actions that led to the deaths of her children but contends she should not face criminal charges due to her mental illness.

A sea of pink-clad supporters rallied together on Thursday, gathering outside the courthouse where Lindsay Clancy is currently on trial for the deaths of her three children.

Among the 300 individuals, predominantly women but accompanied by some men, many expressed a deep connection to Clancy’s story. They aimed to spotlight deficiencies in the mental health care system concerning women. Clancy’s attorneys maintain that while she did commit the acts, her mental state at the time exempts her from criminal accountability.

The trial, which is being shared through livestreams, has shone a public light on postpartum psychosis, a rare yet severe mental disorder that Clancy’s legal team argues afflicted her. This condition is often triggered by the stress, lack of sleep, and hormonal upheaval following childbirth. After the devastating incident, Clancy attempted suicide by leaping from a second-story window, resulting in paralysis from the waist down.

Prosecutors say the former labor and delivery nurse planned the Jan. 24, 2023, killings and contrived to get her husband out of the house by sending him to pick up medicine for one of their children and dinner for the family. They have also questioned the seriousness of her suicide attempt.

The rally Thursday, Aug. 20 was the first time during the nearly monthlong trial that supporters have come out in such large numbers.

“Women are being dismissed, neglected and ignored when we speak up,” said April Vincent, a 52-year-old paralegal from Providence, Rhode Island. “We’re scared because nobody takes us seriously. Nobody wants to hear us, and really, we just need to be heard. I’ve been dismissed plenty of times.”

The women, some wearing shirts with messages including “Peace For Lindsay” and “Justice For Lindsay,” stood silently for more than an hour ahead of Thursday’s proceedings. They broke into applause at the sight of Clancy’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington.

Toward the end of their rally, supporters formed a circle, said the Lord’s Prayer, held up their arms and formed hearts with their hands. Some held flags from different countries to show the support for Clancy was global.

Clancy, 36, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the deaths of Callan, Dawson and Cora Clancy, who ranged from 8 months to 5 years old. Researchers estimate that postpartum psychosis — which is more serious and less common than postpartum depression — afflicts 1 to 2 per 1,000 women after delivery.

Jeanne Zaborski, a 72-year-old retired nurse from Rockland, Massachusetts, said she hopes the cases raise awareness about postpartum health. She and many others at the rally said they had been following the trial almost daily.

“It’s very sad,” Zaborski said. “I am a mother. I am a grandmother. I have a sister who had problems after birth, and it’s just very sad. I hope Lindsay gets the care she needs and deserves and other women will come together like we did today.”

Rally organizer Renee Kimball implored the crowd to trust that Reddington “has Lindsay’s fight.”

“It’s important that we just be still, have a moment of silence and know that God is working through us for Lindsay and for the rest of the world that are going through similar things she is going through,” Kimball said.

Recently, an Iowa woman, previously serving as an administrator at a group home for adults with disabilities, has confessed to introducing hazardous substances into a patient’s intravenous line.

Halie Spidle, aged 37, has entered a guilty plea to three charges related to the administration of harmful substances, stemming from an initial accusation of attempted murder. As reported by CBS affiliate KCCI based in Des Moines, Iowa, Spidle was accused of injecting substances such as an algicide, and potentially brake cleaning fluid, into a patient’s IV at the New Venture Group Home located in Corydon, Iowa, on August 1, 2025.

Authorities allege the act was an attempt to end the patient’s life, although no motive has been disclosed for her actions.

The arrest of Spidle occurred on September 18, 2025, following an investigation by Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies, who claimed she inflicted “algaecide and/or brake cleaner” into the IV of an unsuspecting patient. Subsequent to her detention, Spidle was suspended from her role. An interview with an employee from Wayne County Public Health revealed that Spidle no longer held a position at the group home, though further specifics were not provided.

Spidle is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 22. She faces up to 15 years in prison.

A New York family is growing increasingly concerned as they search for their missing matriarch, who disappeared while on a visit to Las Vegas nearly two weeks ago. Her daughter has made the journey across the United States in a bid to locate her, scouring hospitals and morgues for any signs.

The missing woman, 63-year-old Alisa Goods, a beloved grandmother of five, was officially reported missing on August 10. This was two days after she had last been spotted spending time with a longtime friend in Las Vegas, her family has revealed.

“We have checked hospitals,” stated Kristen Goods, Alisa’s daughter, in an interview with FOX5 Vegas. “We have checked morgues,” she added, expressing the family’s growing desperation.

Kristen’s determination led her to travel from New Jersey to Nevada, driven by the need to assist in the search efforts for her missing mother.

“I’m extremely worried,” she told the station.

Goods had been staying with Roger John, a friend of about 20 years whom she had visited in Las Vegas many times before, according to her family.

John previously told KLAS-TV that Goods left his apartment around 12:45 p.m. Aug. 8 to take a bus to a nearby CVS to go shopping.

“Last I saw her, she was going down the stairs. And I said, ‘OK, see you later,’ And that’s the last time I saw her,” John told the station.

Goods’ family told FOX5 she was later seen at a store near Paradise and Flamingo roads, where she bought supplements and water.

Kristen said she did not personally see the CVS surveillance video but spoke with the store manager about her mother’s visit.

“I did not see the CVS footage myself, but I was privy to some of the footage,” Kristen said. “By talking to the CVS manager that she was there.”

Goods never returned to her friend’s home after the shopping trip.

John notified Goods’ family that evening and filed a missing person report two days later, according to FOX5.

The family said they initially had questions about John but stressed that police do not consider him a suspect.

“To us, he is not a threat, and he’s also been cleared by the police,” Kristen told the station. “There isn’t anything to investigate in terms of his knowledge.”

Kristen said she is frustrated that surveillance cameras have not provided more clues about where her mother went.

“I’m extremely frustrated because I would think that this town would have so much more surveillance because it’s such a bustling area,” Kristen said. “I would think that there was a way for facial recognition to be able to locate someone.”

The family also does not believe Goods could have traveled far on foot. They said she recently underwent several leg surgeries that make it difficult for her to walk for long periods.

Police searched within a 20-mile radius of where Goods was last seen, according to FOX5. Family members have also posted flyers throughout the area hoping someone will recognize her.

Days after Goods disappeared, her family began receiving text messages from her phone asking for money and eventually Bitcoin.

The family said it does not know who sent the messages or whether Goods still had her phone.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police told News Media on Wednesday that Goods’ missing person case remained active and detectives had not found anything suspicious.
